I have T-mobile variant of LG G2 D801 and i was thinking of installing custom rom on it.
But i have this query which i would like to ask before i continue.
My device is currently sim locked so after installing custom rom, will i be able to unlock it via code? or should i unlock it first then install?
Also it is weird to ask but after unlocking the device with stock rom, will it stay permanent? Is it possible for the device to get locked again after custom rom installed on it. I was thinking of installing CM13 on it.
Please help clear my doubts.. I am kind of new in this custom rom stuff. The last time i installed custom rom on a device was long ago and that device was also factory unlocked so it was piece of cake. So i am not sure how to proceed with this one...

Hi Guys. I recently sold my HTC One M7 for an LG G2 and never looked back, so I'm hoping some of you guys/gals could help ease the transition. I got this phone already rooted and since then have installed the latest build of CM12 Lollipop. I want to flash a new kernel but have read that certain kernels have to have certain modems and/or bootloaders. So my questions are :
How do I find out which bootloader i'm running
Which modem should I be running with CM12
Which bootloader do I need
To fill in the rest of the blanks, I'm running an AT&T D800 and would like to flash the Render Kernel onto CM12 Lollipop. I'm also currently running a KK Modem, is this correct? Lastly, I do not know the method the original owner used to root. Thanks in advance!!
I am not sure if the Lg Leon is locked or unlocked and don't have good references to check on youtube or forums.

hey guys wanted to ask if they was a way i could install a custom rom like cm13 on my rooted verizon note 3, could i use the app flasher? or multisystem?...is there a way t install a rom that isint multisystem??

Does the Verizon version have a locked bootloader? If it does, the phone cannot be flashed with a cm rom.
I would really like to get rid of stock samsung rom. I have i9505 S4. So far, I am convinced that the bootloader cannot be unlocked, but then I see there are custom roms (like CM14) in i9505 section. So what is it? Can the bootloader be unlocked for i9505 or is there another way to flash custom roms on S4?
I have been reading and watching youtube videos for 2 days and I am finally giving up and asking the xda community.
You don't need to unlock the bootloader. The phone is old enough that you shouldn't care about setting the knox flag either.
It's actually really easy. Use CF-autoroot to root. Install twrp. Use twrp to back your current rom, then wipe and flash a new one.
You may need to update modem / baseband but only do that to cure a problem if necessary.
I wouldn't recommend CM14 / nougat based roms yet, it's too early for them to be used day to day.
CM13 or a CM13 / MM based rom should suffice. I would recommend Resurrection Remix on i9505 myself...
Most S4 models don't have a locked bootloader. So there is absolutely nothing to unlock, unless it's Verizon or AT&T. In which case, it's impossible to unlock.

It's been a while since I've been back, and i've definitely been out of the loop for this phone..
The last thing I did with it was right after I bought it, I unlocked it, rooted it, put TWRP custom recovery on it using the "dirtycow recowvery" patch and method.
Very very long time ago...
I'm still running Nougat 7.0.1 I believe? Basically whatever the phone shipped with.

My main question is, any phone is unusable for me if I can't get Root, and a custom recovery on it.
What is the latest version/guide on the LG V20 of the latest version of Android that it supports to download and install where I can still Root, and put TWRP on it?
I did search the forum, but there's a lot of guides, and I don't want to "assume" that it's for the latest version of Android (Oreo?) for the V20, so I wanted to make sure
