Artas ROM guide to (near) perfection - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear Note 3 fans,
I have been fighting for almost a month with my new Note 3. I have tried an overwhelming amount of ROMs, but the ROM of artas182 is the only one, where it worked. I have posted a lot of questions and I have been sending a lot of PMs to developers. Unfortunately, nobody gave me an answer, nobody has provided help.
Hence I have no other choice, but to use this ROM. It is stable, but there are a lot of
glitches and a lot of inconvenience. At the price of many sleepless nights, I have finally managed to solve almost all of them and I have decided to publish a little guide, with the hopevthat it might be helpful to somebody:
Problem 1: SD card is not being seen from a PC, when the phone is connected to USB.
Solution 1: well, I still didn't find a real solution for this. But there is a nice workaround - use TWRP 3.0.2-1. When it's necessary to copy files to the SD card, boot into recovery - now the SD card is visible from the PC. I know it's cumbersome and it's
far from perfect, but it's way better than opening the phone, taking the SD card out or copying stuff to the internal memory and moving it then to the SD card
Problem 2: Everything looks huge. TouchWizHome is not looking nice with a grid of 4x5 on a 5.7" display !!
Solution 2: Install an app, called DPI changer and set a more appropriate value for DPI.
As far as I know, 420 is a standard, I have although set it to 400, because I desperately
needed to get things smaller. Now we've solved one issue, but caused several other glitches, which I will describe here.
Glitch A: The grid is still 4x5. There is a huge wasted space around the icons.
Solution A: I tried to put a lot of modded TouchWizHome.apk files and replace the original one, but no matter what I tried, I was always getting an error message "Unfortunately TouchWizHome has stopped". Hence the solution is to install another launcher. S Launcher is the closest to TouchWiz. But I decided to use Next Launcher, as it provides a really different looks to the phone and I like all those 3D effects (they remind me a little bit on the Linux Compiz). Now I have a 5x5 grid. Beautiful!
Glitch B: The dialer seems to be with hardcoded DPI. The buttons only cover part of the screen and they leave an unsymmetrical white space on the screen - UGLY!
Solution B: Install Zero Dialer. Set it as the default dialer (Settings / Default applications) and then go to Settings / Application manager and disable the original phone app.
Glitch C: The camera app is also with hardcoded DPI settings. It looks ridiculously small on the gorgeous 5.7" screen and leaves a lot of black space around the app. Worse, touching the buttons doesn't work. One has to kinda tap next to a button, in order to hit it. Terrible !!
Solution C: Install another camera app. I personally like Camera zoom FX. This causes glitch D.
Glitch D: It's not possible to set which camera app is being invoked from the shortcut on the lock screen.
Solution D: Download BlackRose ROM (BlackRose_Marshmallow_Note5_NewUx_v1_Light.zip). Open the zip file and go to
System\priv-app\SamsungCamera5 and extract SamsungCamera5.apk from there. On the phone, open Root Explorer and go to /system/priv-app/SamsungCamera3 and copy SamsungCamera5.apk there. Rename SamsungCamera3.apk to SamsungCamera3.apk.bak. Rename SamsungCamera5.apk to SamsungCamera3.apk.
Set the permissions to 644. Go to /data/dalvik-cache, scroll to the end of the list, and going from the bottom, look for a file, containing the name SamsungCamera3. Delete it and restart the phone. Now we've successfully replaced the stock camera with an app with better resolution. Now it only leaves a small black strap at the bottom of the screen. The buttons are working fine now!
Problem 3: When you long-press the power button, the 3 icons for setting the phone to mute, vibration and sound are missing.
Solution 3: Unfortunately, I still don't have a solution for this one! I would be very very
thankful, if somebody would advise how this can be solved. Maybe it's possible to replace the whole power menu ? I have tried Lockscreen vibrate widget, but I didn't find a way to make it show up on the lock screen
Problem 4: The alarm does not produce ANY SOUNDS at times. It might be related to charging.
Solution 4: Install and use Timely
@artas182x - MANY MANY THANKS for providing the only custom ROM with working encryption. I hope that you will not be angry about this post, on the contrary, you would hopefully embrace it as a contribution for establishing the leading posistion of your ROM

Add icons to HTCHomePlugIn??......

I can hardly believe it, but after returning 4 different Verizon XV6800's, giving up and trying their "Glyde" and "Voyager".....I'm back once again to the Verizon XV6800. It's still the best device (IMO) despite it's weird glitches of turning on ActiveSync all by itself and still no flashing amber light to notify you of a missed MMS Guess I'll just have to live with those stupid oversights that Verizon and UTStarcomm are unwilling to fix.
Anyway, I digress. I have HTC Plus installed on my device and it works great! I also have the default HTCHomePlugin that came with the device enabled so it gives me the icons at the bottom of the screen for "Adjust Backlight", "ActiveSync" and "Flashlight".
I would like to add additional icons to the HTCHomePlugIn at the bottom of the screen WITHOUT making any other changes to my Today Screen ('cause I'm happy with the way it looks), but I have no idea how to add any other icons. Anyone able to help me with doing this?? Thanks.....Mark

Go to the HTC Home folder on the root of your phone and copy the entire folder to your PC. Open the folder and browse around. Open what you want to edit in photoshop and edit/overwrite. Copy those changed files to a new folder and then transfer to the HTC Home folder to overwrite those files. NOTE: turn off HTC Home from the today screen when trying to overwrite files.
EDIT: Sorry realized this was the plugin, not HTC home.

User interface yrgo 2.3 beta 5

Hi guys,
I have released new yrgo 2.3 beta 5 so you can check it out on my forum here.
If you are new in yrgo - yrgo is highly customizable User Interface Shell written for Windows Mobile 5/6 Professional devices. It allows much more that any other Shell and goes more deep into the system - the memory footprint is also held low.
I highly recommend to see the presentation video (the video was recorded with older version - doesn't have as nice graphic as it is there now and it has much less functionality, but it is good to understand yrgo's concept).
So let me know what do you think .
UPDATED: There's a bug in the version I linked to my forum - it has only Czech version. Please scroll down the thread there, download English.zip a follow the instructions in the post to get the English version working. Sorry for that.
Regards,
Luky
Oh yes,
the gadgets for almost all resolutions are not arranged properly - it is still the beta version and I will work on this this week.
But you can of course easily re-arrange it however you want very easily (just check the video I have mentioned above).
Thanks.
Luky
it is really nice and fast. on start up there was too much gadgets on screen, I would say try to make the desktop really clean aligned properly on startup. but it's a good work you're doing.
I'm not sure if this is a bug: using the file manager to explore my windows directory seems to hang the app, or maybe my windows directory is just really big. after it hanged and I terminated it manually, the app still populated my top and bottom bar, and half my screen, I had to soft reset.
plus how to change background?
Hi,
thanks for your feedback. I'll check out the problem with Windows folder.
To change the background image, just find such image in the yrgo's file explorer and use Context menu and scroll down to get ability to use such image as a desktop background.
Regards,
Luky
I really like your app. your design mode is very innovative, resizeable icons, etc.
*why the "hide" button? after going deep in the settings and want to go back to the home screen I had to click back button all the way back to home. it is possible to make the hide button "home" button so one click will bring me back to home? I know I can click on an empty spot and it will bring me to home, but I don't think everyone will know that.
*when not in full screen mode some of the icons/info is cut off at the bottom because the icons\layout doesn't resize accordingly.
*is it possible to add the "running applications" button as a gadget?
*also could there be some transition effect from desktop to desktop?
know I'm asking for a lot but I wouldn't be saying anything if I didn't like the app.
Hi,
thanks for your feedback. It's ok, your questions are really relevant and helpful for me.
Yes, you're right. It makes more sense to have button "Home" instead of "Hide". I'll change it.
I know about the problem when switching off the full screen mode. The previous version had auto-rearraning the gadgets but it made a big mess when you switched from landscape/portrait mode so I temporarily removed it.
Yes, running appliactions can be add to the desktop easily - as any other item in yrgo - just 'tap and hold' on the Running application icon a use "Add to desktop"
Yep, some transition effect would be nice - but at this moment it is not my priority. I need to release current 2.3 as soon as possible. After that I'll start to think about new feature.
Again, thanks a lot for your feedback- it was very helpful.
Regards,
Luky

Customize your Jade Clone - The Clone Wars (have started). . .

Okay, there is one thread devoted to Jade Clone phones and while it does address a serious need or issue, it hasn't really evolved beyond its title. With the creation of this thread, which I paraphrased Yoda, I Obi-Ron Kenobe propose that we Clones develop tips and customizations that will advance our phones' capabilities.
With that in mind and like other new threads, I will reserve the first two threads as the thread's creator for future developments that I feel are key or that the Mods might wish to use.
"I have a good feeling about this. . .(paraphrasing what Obi-Wan says usually when the action is going to pick up)"
Reserved Second Thread
Reserved for future usage.
Top ten things that should be done to your jade clone before putting the sim card in
TOP TEN THINGS THAT SHOULD BE DONE TO YOUR JADE CLONE BEFORE PUTTING THE SIM CARD IN:
1. Build an SD card prior doing an ActiveSync connection with CAB files that is a back up of the SD card of the one sent with your Jade Clone. You can do this on your PC. I did this prior to getting my Clone because I had an idea which programs I wanted to install due to having a PDA. When the phone arrived, I removed the original SD card and examined it on my PC. I then copied the ROM file to a new card where I had my CAB files stored.
2. On this new SD card, which I recommend be at least 4Gb or 8Gb in size, have a directory with the CAB files you will need to set up your smartphone. I called my directory CABS and have placed the following files in it.
3. Get a good back up program and install it. Sprite or SPB Backup are good commercial software programs that will you to make a back up of your Clone. Every time I install new software, I back up my Clone so that if the installation does not work or I do like the program, I can go back to a good SAFE condition my phone was in prior.
4. Download GPSToggle into your CAB directory and install it.
5. Go to your Today screen, activate GPSToggle and turn it on. I cannot stress how important it is to get your GPS up and running. Let GPSToggle get at least four satellite lock-ons before you turn it off.
6. Install Quick Menu as per this thread.
7. Install iPhoneToday as per this thread. In my humble opinion, iPhoneToday makes use of TouchFlo 3D, is finger friendly and gives your Clone a cool screen that others will notice. My avatar shows what my public iPhone Today home screen looks like.
8. Get a good Explorer like program like Total Commander.
9. Get PHM Registry Editor but be very careful with its use as changes to the Registry can really affect your Clone.
10. Do a back up after installing these programs.
I really recommend having an initial back up of what your ROM looks like after you turn it on for the first time and then a second one after you have completed my TOP TEN LIST. I will admit that I did not do all these steps initially but went back and reaccomplished them after I realized how important it is to have this first back up and then a back up of what my installed program list is.
That way if I ever screw up an installation, I can go back to either the primary or secondary installations. I also keep the original SD card put away in a storage case. Yes, you can always find back up ROM file that is included on this SD card but when I need it, I don't want to have to go online to find it.
I recommend doing back ups religiously. I do one almost every day. I keep the initial two and then the last three chronological back ups (a total of five). That way in case something goes wrong and I can't identify where it went wrong, I can go as far back as necessary to get to a good configuration.
Finally, while it did not make the TOP TEN - Number 11 would be to make a back up of your SD card periodically. I have two back up cards. One is the master that never gets used. The other two get rotated. SD cards can become corrupted due to usage. Having a back up SD card will preclude you having to reformat a corrupted card and reinstalling it.
Replace your battery without loss of date or time - MikelSpikel BatteryReplace.zip
Part of the reason I decided to create this thread was because tonight for the upteenth time, I swapped a dead battery for a charged secondary battery. One of the better aspects of Jade Clones is that most sellers provide two batteries and a secondary charger that hooks into the wall or can be connected to a USB port.
Well, if you remove the battery on a Clone, it loses its date and time which really blows IMHO. As a Dell Axim x51V user, I remembered a utility cab program written by another user on a Mobility Site (http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/1059212947-post64.html). Yesterday before I left for an overnight trip I installed it and it works!!!
The cab, MikelSpikel BatteryReplace.cab, can be installed to your Clone or storage card. I installed mine to the device as it only takes 62kb. I felt that there will be a time when I might have out the SD card and would like the installed program to sit on the Clone.
Once installed as per the cited post, the cab will place an icon in your Clone's Taskbar. When you need to change out your battery, click the icon and it will ask if you need to store the date and time into flash memory.
Enjoy!

QuickMenu program recommendation
Check out QuickMenu from one of xda's community: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340352
You can see screenshots of it as a GIF here: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-quickmenu-v2-7.html
The most current version is 2.8 available at the first link. When you click QuickMenu's icon from within its program, you will see a Screen menu item. Clicking it, you will see H-V Switch which stands for Horizontal - Vertical Switch or rotate screen utility. The nice thing about this is the program will allow you to set up a shortcut for rotate that can be used with icon programs like iPhoneToday. However, if you remove QuickMenu, the link will become broken.
QuickMenu has a lot of other neat functions like Close Running Program. The one I like the most is that it shows all programs still running (even though you may think you have closed them). Clicking the X next to their name will shut them down. You can see the GIF example which lists programs running at its top.
Clicking the QuickMenu icon from within the program will show the Suspend feature. I use that to save my battery. The phone will "awake" when a call comes in. . . Love this Suspend feature!
As per the Mod edit on the xda link, use the Options button (get to it by clicking the QuickMenu icon) to set up a "fingerfriendly view". Go to view and set the Menu Item Edge to a number like 8 (that's where I have mine set for a T3232 clone.
QuickMenu has another feature I like - programs are running in the background undetected by WM can be closed from its main menu. I check this screen frequently because a couple of programs I have installed will self-activate and I close them whenever I see them running silent.
QuickMenu has a lot of neat features. In the Options, I have mine set to be memory resident and replace WM's lame Start Menu. When I click at the upper left hand corner, it activates. It can set up shortcut links to lots of features normal users cannot figure out how to do!
Enjoy!
Revised: 111109 to include screen pic of View tab on Settings page.
iPhoneToday Program Recommendation
iPhoneToday will give your Clone the appearance and feel of an iPhone. Install the cab file to your device and you will have two options as how you want to execute the file.
The first option is as per the developer: your Today screen must be reset from the Settings menu to have no other items present other than iPhoneToday. In essence your Clone will still look like a Windows smartphone.
The second option, which I recommend highly, is to copy iPhoneToday's LNK file from WM Programs to Windows StartUp directory. Reboot your Clone and now iPhoneToday boots at startup with the icons have better spacing. I recommend leaving the bottom row empty so you use that space for sliding and gliding ala the iPhone.
When you see it on your Today screen (please see the attached picture for what my modified home screen looks like), you will need to reset the icons by tapping and holding them. This will bring up a context menu of several items. The one you should use all the time is Edit Icon selection.
I recommend you pick the icon you dislike the most to use as the first one you work on. At the top of the Icon Settings page you will see multiple selections. Let's go through them one by one:
Screen - Screen # is the page or tab you want the icon to be displayed at. Screen 0 is the home screen. If I remember correctly, when installed iPhoneToday comes with three pages. I banished the ugliest first one to a new page by editting Screen to Screen 4 which created the fourth page. NOTE: Screen -1 is the bottommost row of Icons ans is the Homerow. These Icons will exist on every page. You need to give careful consideration as to which Icons you want there as they should be the ones you use most often. I decided for myself that instead of four icons on the Homerow, I wanted only three Icons to highlight them. This gives me a cleaner swipe and glide as well as differentiating this from the iPhone app.
Icon - Icon # (where # can be equal 0 through 11) is where you want the Icon to sit on a particular page. Icon 0 is the first Icon. Icon 11 is the last which sits in the bottom right.
Execute - this block tells iPhoneToday which Program it will run (I lied and jumped ahead but you will soon see why). To designate which Program you wish this Icon to use, click on the small box to the right of the big left block next to the word Execute which has three dots in it. iPhoneToday will take you to your Programs directory where you can choose which Program you want the Icon to run or Execute. When you tap or choose a Program, box will pop up saying Exit and offer to "Set Icon Name?' with a Yes and No choice. For your initial Icon, please answer Yes. When you get more experience you can always go back and edit the Icons, Names, Pages, etc.
Image - most Programs have a standard PNG file that displays it as icon. In the iPhoneToday directory you will find other images or icons that can be used other than the standard icon. The reason for this is because WM does not use rounded or more stylistic icons which iPhone does. In the attached picture, you can see that I used iPhoneToday's icon for iGO8 versus the balloon tipped icon that iGO8 normally displays.
Animation - this should already be checked for you. The animation is what gives iPhoneToday that quote unquote iPhone look when an app is started.
I do not use the other blocks or choices that are on the rest of the Icon Settings page. You can test them when you are more comfortable with iPhoneToday.
Once you have set the name, click OK at the top right corner. An Exit box will appear and ask if you want to Save Changes? If you're happy with your selection, click Yes and the Icon will be created on the appropriate page.
Please note: the developer placed some Icons with Spanish titles. Please do not complain about this! Because I speak Spanish too and as a homage to him, I left my homerow in Spanish. You can always edit the Icons to your own language.
Also: some of the Icons will work automatically. Some need to be tweaked. The one I remember is FM Radio. I had to tweak its Execute to where FM Radio exists on my Clone.
The most current version is v1.3 - I use 1.2.5 because the new version just came out last week. Both versions are attached to this message. I've included them here because they are stored on Rapid$hare which is now harrassing free users with delays in downloading programs.
Last week, I showed my phone to a buddy who has a new smartphone himself. He asked when I got an iPhone. I said I had a smartphone too but had modified it with a program (iPhoneToday). When iPhoneToday is booted at Start-Up, it gives your Clone the iPhone appearance because it is full screen. He was so impressed that he asked me to modify his phone for him. Let's just say, he bought me some beers to pay for my experience. . .
Speaking of beers - if you like iPhoneToday, please donate to the developer the price of a cup of coffee or a beer!

GPS Toggle - Today screen app
Having problems getting your GPS to turn on and work for your GPS programs? If so, a little app known as GPSToggle may solve your problem.
Download GPSToggle CAB from this link http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7VRBH5RS . It is called GPSToggle and is a Today screen app. It works best when installed to main memory.
Once installed, you will need to add it to your Today screen. From your Today screen go to Settings, then choose Today settings. Go to the Items tab and you should see BAF GPS Toggle at the bottom of the list. Click the box to have it added to your Today Screen. Close the Settings screen and go back to your Today screen.
Now, a little bit of info about your GPS. It will work best when it has an unobstructed view of the sky overhead. It should stationery (not moving) and uninterrupted from the time you turn on the application.
Some people can get satellite signals inside a building. I can because I live in a one-story condo. If you can sit outside with your phone for about 30 minutes, GPSToggle should do the trick.
On your Today screen you will now see an item called GPS with the word OFF next to it. Click the word GPS and the word next to it will change to On indicating that the app has turned on your GPS.
Now sit back, be patient and wait. If you're lucky and outside, the SIRF III chip in your phone should lock on within as little as 42 seconds and as long as five minutes.
Attached to this message are four screens showing what your screen will look like:
GPSToggle 01 - Initial turn on. GPS is in search mode (no satellites detected).
GPSToggle 02 - GPS on. Communication beginning. 12 satellites possible.
GPSToggle 03 - GPS on. Four satellite bars displayed. Satnav not possible yet.
GPSToggle 04 - GPS on. Four satellites locked on. 3D satnav possible.
Note 1: I had not turned on my GPS today which meant it took about 2.5 minutes to lock on. This is not bad considering I am sitting in my front room. Normally, it takes about 60 seconds when I have turned on the GPS previously in the day and eperemis data which is satellite position and timing information is available from a previous session.
Note 2: According to most SIRF manufacturers, it takes three satellites for 2D satnav to occur. Most GPS programs can operate with that mode. Four satellites provide 3D satnav which is preferred.
See if this works for you. If it does, whenever you need to use your GPS, go to the Today screen and use GPSToggle to turn on the GPS for you which will quote warm it up for your GPS program. Once you see four green bars, you can turn on your GPS program and navigate like a champ!
You can read further about GPSToggle at this URL and thank the developer: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-gps-toggle.html
Good luck!
Score is Zero to Zero. . .
My old Coach used to remind us before each game that the score was Zero to Zero and that great defense would keep the other side at Zero. How does this apply to HTC Clones?
Well, it is early in the game in the development of WM6.5. Some of you might have 6.1 and feeling slightly left behind. If I was you, I would not be too worried about getting or upgrading to the "the next best ROM."
From what I have read and seen, WM6.1 is fairly stable and some users report better than 6.5. To go back to the Coach's analogy, the other side may have a slight advantage but the score still is Zero to Zero and we can narrow the gap if we keep them at Zero.
My point is that we all should be committed to do no harm to our Clones.
Get a good back up program and use it often!
Don't jump on the latest and greatest program - go with what you know and what others have reported as being steady and good!
Do these things and we Clones will win!

Great idea and I'm with you ..
I have 2 device The Clone and the original device also .
Don't like the feel of your Power Switch to awake your Clone from Suspend?
Don't know about you but I don't like how hard I have to depress the Power Switch to awaken my Jade Clone from Suspend especially if I am sitting at home next to the computer when all I want to do is add a CAB file to my SD card or make a small program adjustment. Sooner or later all that pressure could affect the Power Switch. Why give the PS abuse when a web service will do the trick for you?
Well, a useful website will awaken your Clone from Suspend or if you've misplaced and feel it is nearby. Here is the site:
http://www.wheresmycellphone.com/
wheresmycellphone dot com will place a call and ring your Clone awakening it. Or, if you've misplaced it, you can go look for a ringing phone. I like using this website and have plugged it as a Contact.

If I remember correctly, somewhere in the iPhoneToday's thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508429), removing the Taskbar is discussed. I found it much easier to display iPhoneToday full-screen as per what I originally wrote:
The second option, which I recommend highly, is to copy iPhoneToday's LNK file from WM Programs to Windows StartUp directory. Reboot your Clone and now iPhoneToday boots at startup with the icons have better spacing. I recommend leaving the bottom row empty so you use that space for sliding and gliding ala the iPhone.
While I like and use iPhoneToday, I am not a master of it - I have it tweaked to what I like as described in the iPhoneToday Program Recommendation which is Post #6 of this thread. My avatar is a picture of my homescreen and appears next to my name in each post. I only get smart enough to be dangerous with each app I recommend here but throw caution to the wind when I install programs to my Clone. Above all else, I will do no harm to my Clone.
I recommend all of you to do the same. If I recommend something here, it's because I use it and know it is safe as long as you don't do something stupid with it. Operator error cannot be accounted for by anybody but yourself!
If you want to get rid of the Taskbar, you will need to visit the developer's thread.
One of the other xda forums I visit has a thread similar to the one I created for all of us Jade Clone owners which is hyperlinked to its title:

Tips, tricks for getting the most out of Sense 2.1

Hi all,
Ever since the new Sense 2.5 started surfacing, I have been watching all the cooks go for the new interface, but sadly (in my opinion), productivity-wise, it is a step back from Sense 2.1.
I missed the speed, the responsiveness and business-functionality of the "old" Sense 2.1.
For those of you in the same shoes as me, I present you my collection of "upgrades" for the Sense 2.1 interface, to combine the speed of S2.1 with the extra functions of S2.5
I will update this page as I find something new.
I do not take credit for the tweaks, I found them here-and-there, wherever possible I will give a link to the original thread.
Also, I use all the tips/tricks/hacks/programs on these pages, so they do work flawlessly.
Tools you will need:
1. I use Total Commander for copying files into the Windows directory. You can get if for free HERE. Alternative: use Resco Explorer.
Addon programs / cabs
Kimi has successfully extracted a number of Sense 2.5 extras to work with Sense 2.1. ORIGINAL THREAD
New, full page e-mail tab from new sense.
1. Install "Email_tab.cab" from end of post
2. Extract "Email_update.zip" from end of post into \Windows directory.
3. Soft reset
New camera with autofocus function (a lot faster for taking pictures)
1. Extract "Camera.zip" into \Windows directory
New calendar tab with new appointment editor, agenda and week view
Extract "Calendar_pack.zip" on your computer.
1. Install "1_Calendar_Tab"
2. Extract "2_Calendar_update.zip" into \Windows directory
3. Install "3_HTCFramework"
4. Install "4_SharedResource"
5. Install "5_AppointmentMod"
6. Install "6_AppointmentEditor"
7. Install "7_ContactPicker"
8. Soft reset
Registry edits/hacks
The following hacks I found under the Leo thread, but work just fine and dandy with our Topazes and Sense 2.1 environment. All credits go to folks in that thread.
1. Enable Haptic Feedback in Opera for Link Clicking
Go to HKLM\Software\Opera\Defaults
Add new DWORD Value as Name: VibrationEnabled and DWORD Data (dec): 1
2. Enable Auto Data Disconnect for Auto Email Downloads and Other Downloads with a Cab File
When you have auto email downloads enabled, data is not disoconnected after mail retrieval and thus your battery is drained much faster. Modify the following reg edit to have data disconnect after 60 seconds. You can test this by tapping on the notfification bar while downloading emails and watch the data connection close after idle for 60 seconds.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings
CacheTime = 60
SuspendResume = should be blank
VPNCacheTime = 60
3. Boost Performance:
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS
Change - CacheSize to 4096
4. Change 'Reply All' Softkey to 'Reply' in Emails
When you are viewing a single email, the lower left soft key says Reply All. It would be better if it just said Reply. Well now it can. Soft reset after change.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\ShowReplyAllEmailSK change 1 to 0.
5. Enable Reflow in Adobe Reader LE
Make the text flow even when zoomed in with the following reg tweak.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\AdobeReaderLE.25\ EnableReflow change 0 to 1.
6. Incease Picture Quality of Camera Photos
The following tweak will allow the camera to save images at a less compressed jpeg rate, meaning that the image will be sharper and more detailed.
HKLM\software\htc\camera\image\jpegquaity\superfine
Replace the 5Msize = 643628 value with 746028
7. Improve Camera Recording Quality of MPEG4-VGA Videos
The following tweak will increase the video quality from 2100avg bit-rate to 4500avg bit-rate.
Go to [HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\recparam\MP4VGA and replace the BitRate value with 4194304
8. Disable Beeps When Altering Volume
When you press the volume key you getting annoying beeps. This tweak allows to change the volume silently without the beeps.
HKCU\ControlPanel\Volume\Mute Change from 3 to 1.
9. Faster Keyboard Responsivness when Typing
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd
Change InitialDelay from 375 to 100
Reserved 3
Thanks for these tips. The camera does appear to be faster. And also the email tab seems much quicker. I like the fact that you can read most of the email now, which is way more efficient than the previous tab, inwhich most of the mail was hidden in the big envelope.
However, the buttons for other mail adresses in the email tab (the small envelopes on the right) are horrible dissorted, as is the sms tab. I didn't found a way to solve this.
Also, it appears to be important that you install the agenda tweaks according to the numbering. Without noticing it, I started at the bottom and didn't see any agenda after installing everything. Therefore I reinstalled the 7 files in the right order. I do see the agenda now if i select the agenda tab. However, nothing happens when I select "day".

Hmmm. I do not see any of the distortion that you are talking about... Which ROM do you use?
As for the agenda, it works flawlessly for me. Again, which ROM and which language do you use?
I hope I can help!
Posted edited after I found the answer I needed - couldn't work out how to delete it.

Unfortunately none of the "upgrades" - email, camera, calendar works right for me either. Email has distorted graphics; camera has white letters on white background for the menu; calendar works the best except also white dates on white background so I can't read anything.
And the only way to go back to the original one was a hard reset. Fortunately I have backed up the phone yesterday so it wasn't a big deal, but it may not be so easy for others.
EDIT: just realize this is not for touch pro2. Would this be the reason? I'm using tmobile touch pro2 with stock wm6.5 rom.

I think it might be that you are on a stock ROM. It works just fine for me, on any 2.1 cooked ROM that I've used...
The language I use is Dutch. Installed the rom a while ago, so I cant really remember which one it was. I found two roms on my HD, so it must be one of these.

I'm sorry... For Dutch, put the attached files into your Windows directory...
The 17xxx is for the Caelndar tab and the 44xxx is for the email tab.
Do a soft reset afterwards! I hope this solves your problem!
Hello Kristof,
Thank you for your help. Unfortunatly it didn't work. The only change I noticed was that now the "day" button in the calender tab is replaced by "IDS_Calend...". But I still can't select the calender day view and the envelops on the email tab still look horrible.

Hmmm... I'll dig myself into Kimi's thread to see if anyone notices what you notice...
Strange, though, it should work for everybody...
I'll try to come back with a solution for you!
Thank again
There is no need for me anymore. I just flashed the new HTC rom and currently enjoy sense 2.5 Till now I didn't find any negatives using it
white screen
im having the same problem as wearefree for the calendar... ive got a td2 and upgraded it to winmo 6.5 could that be it?

change the sensitivity of your touch screen

Hello all,
I have seen several reports in internet about screen sensitivity issue regarding s7 & s7e varients. some says that it is too sensitive, while some say its less.
In my case, afterinstalling a .4 mm 9H glass screen protector, my screen sensitivity became awfully down,it wont recognise my targus touch input pen anymore, unless i press the rubber tip really hard, also several misses of finger touch input too.
being so, i was thinking of removing the screen gaurd itself, but from my experience, i know that this can be adjusted by editing system files. again, i forgot ( since i dont play with roms much now a days) it, and last night i stuck upon my collection of android tweaks.. and find something interesting.
so i want to share it with you.
You need root access to do this tweak, as we are going to edit build.prop and touch screen calibration file.
1 ) go to system/build.prop , open it with some text editor, add these lines to it ( i prefer xplore filemanager, becoz it is cool and automatically set previous permissions)
ro.max.fling_velocity=16000
touch.pressure.scale=0.00000001
ro.min.fling_velocity=8500
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=290
ro.min_pointer_dur=9
2) save it back and then go to system/usr/idc and find the file named " ft5x06_ts.idc ". its the touch screen calibration file. open it as text ( some filemanagers require to rename it as .txt extension, if its so, rename and open it. then edit this line as
touch.pressure.scale=0.00000001
3) save and rename it back to " ft5x06_ts.idc " and set back permissions.
reboot your phone.. now ur phone have much more sensitive screen.
NB:- the normal touch.pressure.value is 0.015 for s7. ( as found in ft5x06_ts.idc file). we have changed it to a much smaller value of 0.00000001 , to make it more sensitive.
you can decrease that value further to make it more sensitive or you can increase that value to 0.100 or so to decrease sensitivity ( remember to add same value on build.prop and .idc file , to avoid conflicts.)
thanks all.. hope this will sort out your touch screen problem.
I don't have that file. I'm running a stock S7, rooted, original ROM in all ways just like most everyone else. Mine is brands new and I've not made any other mods yet. Can you verify the filename and folder is correct?
Are there any other changes you may have made beforehand, that may have created that file? Did you try any of the touch screen calibration apps that I've seen online by chance?
I can try creating the file, what else is in its contents? Can you attach it here, or copy its contents to the screen here if short enough?
Great information, you're the only one writing about this yet. I appreciate it because I was looking for the same thing and I knew it was possible. I can confirm I've read similar on the Android developers website. There's tons of settings related to the touchscreen listed there, and the sensitivity setting you reference seems to be the most important.
I've seen other people reference adding that setting into build..prop. Have you heard that, or tried that by chance? Any feedback? On my S5, it didn't seem to make any difference regardless of what I set it to in the build.prop settings. Perhaps it's the same on the S7. Surprised I don't have the same file that you reference though...? Mine is Verizon. Yours?

UPDATE -After digging around a bit, I found two idc files related to touchscreen settings in that same folder. They are named Synaptics_HID_TouchPad.idc and Synaptics_RMI4_TouchPad_Sensor.idc. Their contents reference "Input Device Configuration File for the Atmel Maxtouch touch screen" and "Atmel Maxtouch touch screen" respectively. All the standard touch screen settings are present, but specific to touch.pressure.scale, both are set to 0.0125. Again, slightly different, but this is a Verizon variant, I'm not sure what year it is. I know each touchscreen requires its own set of configuration settings, and it's not expected they would all calibrate and matchup to the same settings. It also wouldn't be the first time Samsung use different pieces of hardware in the same device, let alone the carriers might provide their own input and/or make those choices autonomously as well. What does yours list as the make and model of the touchscreen device? Do you have just the one file referencing touch screen, or are there multiple files like mine?
I'm not sure what specific touchscreen hardware is installed in my device. I know I could go check, but I'm feeling lazy and think I'll just modify them both and see what happens.
I'll provide updates as I learn more...
ya.. thats it.. every android device shd contain some sensor specific file for every sensor used. or lets say some configuration file.. and touch screen too..
btw.. that touch pressure scale is what u need to change.
why the hell does Samsung doesnt set it in 0.00001 in first place -_-
Has anyone else tried/working this workaround?
Not rooted here but will root if it works ^^
