I use PowerAmp, the options to adjust the gain and limits areawesome. Totally worth the purchase.

Anyone else think the volume of the external speaker is too low. I litterally struggle to have a speakphone conversation and watching media is disappointing.
Could it just be my phone hardware and needs to be exchanged for a new unit?

I have the same problem. The speaker volume is quite low, especially compared to the headphone volume.
Yes, very low. That has been a little disappointment to me.
Same for me. Do the last update solve this problem?

Solution!
Hey!
Cut a long story short, I Bought my neuxs s and was very disappointed with the volume level especially on the headset.
I looked round for 2 weeks for a solution, found one!
INSTALL A KERNEL WHICH SUPPORTS VOODOO SOUND CONTROL!
The sound volume is now VERY loud!
Here is a link to a hybrid kernel, half stock, half Cyanogenmod with Voodoo sound & colour control! its outta this world

Voodoo requires a custom kernel, but it doesn't increase the volume anyway.
But I think it's loud enough, and who watches a movie on their phone?

install volume (+) sound boost works like a charm really....
great improvement in sound after this,,..and no rooting required even..
Lowest volume setting too loud after touchwiz update.
Its like turning the volume on and off when going from 0 to the first volume step.\
Sucks...
No problem for me, lowest setting just fine.
But i run a custom TW UEKMB rom

What app are you using? I notice, for example, in Google Music the lowest setting is so low it's almost inaudible.
Same issue. Stock music app's volume is way too loud for the lowest setting. I use this at night when sleeping. Before, one notch up was perfect. Now it is pretty loud and actually keeps me up. lol
nope. seems as though it only effects tabs with micro sd slots.

What a shame ... I was really looking forward to that kernel he was developing.
I have this problem too both on stock TW and on Starburst. P7510 32gb
My headphones are pretty sensitive so this basically makes the tab useless for audio for me.
Does anyone have suggestions? I have been looking for an app to reduce the volume but nothing has worked so far. Hoping for something that could achieve finer volume steps.
Ya this is an software engineering defect. Its amazing how they can design a volume control like this and think that its is good.
Bump! I'm still experiencing this on Task's 6.0 ROM with Touchwiz and HC3.2. Is there any fix for this?

Is it really that hard to use an equalizer and adjust the main? When is it that you use the lowest setting anyways?
I experience the same thing after update to task rom 6.0 but then i flash stock kernel ukmn and the volume back to normal.

hey guys, just a few quick, probably simple questions, anyone who's played with or has been watching videos could answer. I've been using custom/modded roms so long i don't even know what's stock features and what's custom haha.. (╥__ ╥╬)..
sooo question 1; does the S4 support long pressing volume up/down to skip tracks forward/backwards? if so does the headset also support it?
q2; does the camera have all those parental controls cockblocking when you can and can't open the camera app? like below 15%, during music, in call, as well as mandatory focus and shutter sounds that can't be muted?
q3; what's the charging rate on this thing? my S3 charges at 1.2A on both AC, and USB
q4; uhh anything else i should know that i didn't think of? lol
ill add 'Thanks' to anyone with answers/feedback ^^

No long pressing Volume does not skip with stock Music App... Headset is supported with the original Headset!

Does anyone have a way to boost the sound on this phone? Even turned all the way up, it is not very loud when listening to native music player or Pandora. Its great with the head phones but I set it on the table and listen while I cook and clean.
This is why I wish clark44 would bring his freegs rom over here. In that rom he had mod that would increase the volume by 40% percent. Hopefully someone here will make a mod for it soon
I love the 90s. Good times.

Faux released a kernel for the sprint gs4 that's compatible with his speaker loudness and amp control app on the playstore.

I remember on my GSII I had some cheap rocketfish bluetooth headphones and I remember getting an app, or a flashable zip (rooted) and was able to increase the volume so much on the rocket fishes, my ears felt like they were going to bleed, lol
I have the backbeat 2's and they are awesome for the price (didn't want to spend for the jaybirds) but it could use a tad more volume, nothing crazy, just a little.
Is there anything out there? an app maybe?
thanks

You have probably already done this but there is a separate bluetooth volume control that, for me that I know of, can only be increased with the volume rocker switches when the music is actively being played.
lol come on!!! really?? where is everyone
