Question about Samsung Cloud. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi guys, i have S7E and i dont recall backing up anything on the samsung cloud app, however its showing me a percentage of my backup storage i have used. See the image.
I wanted to know, if i removed the account, would it delete my current data on phone, i.e. contacts, messages etc? Or only the backed up contacts, messages etc? Im not sure because niether i recall backing it up or niether do i want to backup anything on samsung cloud.

I use Samsung Cloud but I find it fails more time than anything, for instance I've gone into the settings just to see the last time it successfully synced and it was last month, iirc that was when I did a manual sync.
I might not be correct here but from what I read about Samsung cloud is that it will not delete the data from your device just from the cloud, as it just syncs it.
Edit:
I've just read this on their FAQ page so looks like you'll be fine....

Contacts to sd card or titanium backup

Can someone ttell me how to save all my contacts to my sd card so for whenever I switch roms? Or can I also do this on titanium backup?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Is there something wrong with using your google mail account for your contacts? That's how I did it when I tried out different ROMs. So you don't have to have the issue with saving it and restoring it. All you'd have to do is sync your phone with your google mail account.

Everytime I save them and sync and get a new rom I no longer have those contacts but I just backed up everything with titanium

Make sure your contacts are being created under your mail account and not on phone storage.

+5 on wtf is wrong with google?
however... as a criminal throttler (according to tmobile) if I want to flash a rom after a wipe and I am not near wifi my only alternative is to manually restore ****. Why? Because resyncing a **** load of data back to my phone while throttled makes me want to eat my phone in front of a tmobile rep. infuritating! (Its like driving a WWII era moped on the expressway)
but thats one reason why i sometimes need to avoid the gumminess of google. because it pisses off tmobile.
Another reason some people may not use Google for all of their syncing is if they use Google for personal contacts, but still have business/miscellaneous contacts (and their business does not use something like Google or MS Exchange that they can set up a sync for).
Granted, they could set up another Google account for the business ones, but maybe it's not allowed due to corporate IT policy or something. Everyone's usage model is different...

[Q] How do I restore my contacts and apps?

Hey, guys. I just installed the DK28 Froyo Stock ROM. I was using Lookout Mobile Security to backup all of my contacts and pictures.
However, all of my contacts aren't syncing from Lookout. Is there an easier way to get back all of my contacts from Lookout?
Also, my account only shows the apps from the Marketplace that I had purchased, but not downloaded. Is there anyway to download everything I had before? Thanks.
Don't know about Lookout; I always sync contacts through gmail.
Don't know about pictures; all of mine are on my SDCard.
Your free apps do not show up in the marketplace...until now. Now that you're running 2.2.1, anything you DL will re-dl every time you replace ROMs or wipe your phone. (this may be due to updated marketplace and not 2.2, but I'm not sure)
Lookout is garbage. I use appbrain to save my app and google to save my contacts. Have you tried logging into your google on your phone to recover your contacts?

It's due to both.
It's Lookout Mobile Security. It's a great piece of software. However, I think it's stuck on restoring my photos.

No, Google didn't sync all of my contacts. Just some. Is there a detailed way to show how to sync my phone contacts with Google? It wants to sync like every e-mail address I've ever e-mailed with my phone.

[Q]is there any program like kies?

is there any program like kies?
mainly for contact back up or edit ,
There are plenty of apps to backup contacts. I don't know why you'd ever want to use Kies though, so I can't really offer something that's like it.
There is also myPhoneExplorer:
http://www.fjsoft.at/en/
When i backed up and restored my contacts with Kies, i recognized that the resolution of the caller pictures was reduced dramatically. Maybe a misconfiguration or maybe fixed in newer releases (?)
To backup my contacts i use the builtin feature save to/restore from SD card. This saves everything except the call groups. And be sure to check that you don't import your contacts to your google account when you restore the contacts from SD card
thanx i will try it
You could always try the ever popular "mybackup" from the market...

Why not just sync with google?
Always backed up in real time.
Or am I missing something.

Not everyone likes to have his/her contacts uploaded to Google
True. I was thinking that, but somehow I think Google gets them anyway.

Hopefully get my ONE next week.

Am hoping to get my ONE next week. I've currently got a HTC Desire HD and want to know how I go about transfering all my apps onto the new phone also I use tapatalk for the forums, will I need to remember all the login/passwords for my forums or can I transfer tapatalk forums settings aswell ?
You will need to remember everything.
Download carbon. Backup apps to cloud.
Install carbon on One, restore apps from cloud.
Simples.

If you have a gmail account simply login on your new phone and all of your apps will be in the play store. as will all of your contacts be in gmail.
or just use the free version of titanium backup so even data from your previous phone would be restored also(including login credentials on tapatalk).

That doesn't help with app data... using carbon or titanium backup is the way to go.

Transferring text messages from old s4 to new s4

My son cracked my fiances S4 so i purchased her a new one off CL. Its been a while since i toyed with the S4 so i was hoping someone could tell me the easiest way to transfer her old text messages from her old S4 to her new. With htc i use the htc transfer tool which basically allows you to transfer pictures, music, photos, videos, settings, bookmarks and messages all over wifi. I know the pics and music should be able to be sent via NFC. Can i send text with NFC? If not whats the easiest way

Try out Samsung app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.easyMover
I haven't used this, but the description seems to indicate that it will support messages

I use SMS Backup + for saving / restoring text messages when I am switching ROMS... Works pretty good. It creates a folder in you Gmail account and stores them there so you can read them on-line too if needed.

+1 for SMS Backup +. Works great and simple.
However
IF you Titanium BackupRoot Pro. That can backup and restore texts, mms, phone logs et. al.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore sms backup and restore. Go into settings and change the default storage from phone to sd card. It will not back up pictures or videos or audio. You should save any mms attachments and move them from the phone (where messaging program saves by default) to the sd card. Excellent program.
