Anyone else having problems with GPS on CM13? Seems like no matter what I do I can't get the GPS to work right with any navigation app I've tried. When using Maps, it finds my location, but when I actually nav to my destination and start moving my location jumps around sporadically and it causes me to go off course and get all screwed up. I've asked about it in the actual ROM thread and have messaged the dev directly and I'm getting nothing. If anyone else has/had the same issue and knows a solution please advise.
I'm currently running [ROM][CM13][6.0.1_r72][VZW][OTA-Updates] Temasek's UNOFFICIAL Build V12.2. I clean flashed the latest update to start fresh. This solved the crazy battery drain problem that dirty flashing the latest update had caused, but the GPS is still whacked.
Thanks.
Did you ever find a fix to this? I just flashed build 12.3 20161220 on my N900V and it's unable to see any GPS satellites.
Won't matter, Cyanogen and CyanogenMod will be shut down as of Sunday.

All,
Been on CM7 since build 32 and cannot get GPS to work. I believe I got it to work twice. I have tried everything from deleting the SPL lines from gps.conf, and downloaded GPS Status and nothing worked. I have gone as far as to doing wipes between nightly builds fresh install and still nothing. It's driving me crazy.
Any info would be great! Thanks!
I had the same issue. What actually worked for me was I just let it sit for twenty minutes searching for GPS and eventually it found it on it's own and has been working with no issue since. Although when it did find it at first it had me in a location jumping from street to street but it eventually locked into my position.

This should be moved to the Q&A sub forum. I'll request that.

For me, the usual process has been to enable the GPS and then reboot as I'm heading out the door to the car. Reboots seem to have been the key.
But on #39, even that has not worked. There were a number of GPS related patches yesterday, so I'm hopeful that the nightly was built before all of the commits hit the source tree and #40 will fix it.
I've asked in the main thread about it. Its possible others with #39 have functioning GPS, and the restore procedure I use after installation may have hosed something.
Symptom: GPS Status shows no sats, and never receives sat information. A-GPS reset/reload has no impact.
Ok, so you saying install #40 and see what happens? I'm still on #38, guess I'll update tonight.
Thanks!
Yes, according to the CM7 nightly thread tonights build should address the GPS issues people are seeing. Try it out.
So, I've never had this type of situation happen before. I flashed Cloudy Stock version 2.1 Rom. It worked great. Then I tried navigation. Noticed there was no GPS. I downloaded a couple different apps / tools. It looks like the GPS function is working just not getting a fix. Then I flashed Cyanogenmod 11 thinking maybe it was a bug. Butttt.... It wasn't. Can anyone think of a setting, bug, or otherwise that would cause this to happen? I think I've done all the obvious stuff location settings etc...? I've never seen a situation where it just didn't work. It was working on stock and also other roms.
Same here. After i updated to kitkat 4.4.2 (first 20A, now 20D) gps stopped working. Cannot connect to any gps sattelites, only it sees them, but cannot connect. Help
So, you're not going to believe this.. I reflashed Cyanogenmod 11 and still had some gps issues. But it was spotty at the least it was still there. I put the cloudy stock back on the phone and had no GPS or rotation at all ( I am pretty sure that has something to do with the radio I flashed for AOSP for the rotation fix. Not such a big deal since I honestly like AOSP.)
Flashed back to Cyanogenmod.... So get this... I took off this nifty new aluminum bumper I recently purchased see >>>>http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HAJ76F6
So I've attached a couple screen shots of the differences with and without the bumper... WOW... Didn't see that coming. So, problem solved for now. I will hopefully be able to return the case. The issue with the stock lack of gps is probably due to the radio. I will deal with that later. I just need to find the right stock radio for the D801 to fix the rotation and the gps. Thanks for listening guys! Good times... :good:
EDIT- Issue has been solved with the official stock OTA sprint/G900P release (currently on OT6 deoxed)! Happy to have working GPS again!
Hello!
Ever since upgrading to 5.0 (Cyanogenmod 5.0 clean flash, and then upgrade to teamub latest build 1/11) my location has not been functional. I have the sprint version galaxy S5. With the latest teamub builds, my gps has finally been 'working' when I press the location button in maps, but it thinks that im located 50 miles away from where I am. The position has changed several times to very different area's. At first it would not find the location at all, regardless of data/LTE enabled and GPS set to on with high accuracy mode enabled on MAPS settings.
I would like to clarify that this issue persisted before the dirty flash to teamub, so I do not think its a question of a clean flash. Also, I have tried clearing the data for the maps app in settings and restarting it, which did not resolve the issue.
This is a frustrating one, as I absolutely love these rom's and LP, but the GPS is one of those deal breakers for me, it must be functional.
Any advice on troubleshooting is very welcome and thank you.

I experience this exact same issue with the latest CM12 build.
If switching the setting to Device-only location (GPS) it doesn't work at all. Waze says No GPS.
On Google Maps High Accuracy location mode seem to use only Wifi and Mobile Network calculations to determine locations. GPS is broken.
Someone told me to try TopNTP to fix it, but it didn't solve the problem.
I also tried searching and found someone on OS 4.4 saying to enter the service menu with *#0011# but that doesn't work either.
Edit for clarity: I have clean flashed new CM12 builds as they become available and have had this problem with every ROM since I switched from factory TW (6 or so diff ROM's)
*build is cm-12-20150120-UNOFFICIAL-klteusc

I concur that GPS is indeed broken in CM12 as well. Even though I get the GPS icon in the corner, it appears that no applications communicate with the GPS hardware to determine location. I also have found that only high accuracy mode using WIFI + Data works.
However, since you are the only person to respond with this issue, I must assume it is working for many others.
Thanks for the info and hopefully there is a solution in the near future.
For reference, what is your hardware model # ?

Yes, hopefully we get someone with the same problem that found a fix or a dev that can look into the problem. Anyone else, please speak up.

Just bumping this thread because no resolution has been found.
Can anyone confirm GPS device only mode works on their S5? This is a frustrating problem because sometimes I really need GPS only accuracy. If I go on a hike and there's no service/data around sometimes GPS is the only difference between me wandering in the dark at night and actually finding my camp site.
Thanks

Thanks for the update. Are you saying that you Odin'd back to stock Touchwiz and then did an OTA update?

I grabbed the full stock .tar released 2 days ago (from OTA) and odin'd the phone (after wipe) to full stock. That solved the problem (running stock official) and then flashed to deoxeded to make things snappy.
Hi,
I have a totally strange behavior with my GPS. I'm using CM 13 right now and tried it with the official CM 12.1 and the stock ROM, all with the same behavior. Which I figured out so far is that the GPS need around 5 Minutes to get a lock. The only solution I found so far is using GPS Locker from the play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.silentlexx.gpslock). With this app I'm able to get a lock within 10 seconds or faster. But I like my phone as clean as possible and so I want to fix the GPS without the need of an app. Hopefully someone of you could give me an advice how to fix that.
That are the solutions I tried already:
- Flash the stock ROM, wait until I get a GPS lock and flash a custom ROM
- Download several GPS Fix Apps to reset the agps data
- Modified the gps.conf file
- Open the device to check if the antenna cable is connected probably
Flash the stock ROM, wait until I get a GPS lock and flash a custom ROM
Does nothing as you have over written the system .
GPS is a kernel effect .
agps Patch from xda/derekgordon may be worth trying .
Thanks for your response. I got some time to give it a try but it didn't helped. It seems that Google maps doesn't work without an app that locks the GPS. Gps testing apps are working great only maps seems not able to find the right position by itself. Any other ideas someone?

fyi when I was on KitKat my gps locked quick and worked great. Since going to lollipop, I cannot use my gps as it constantly drops. So frustrating so I have tried other apps to see if I could clear the data/reset but none have worked. I was going to flash back to KitKat today but I am going to try GPS Locker as you have provided and see.. if not going back to 4.3...
ok so long update. What a PITA... I got back on KitKat 4.4.4 and gps seemed like it was a go.. but then died on my 65 mile drive to work. bout half way.
i was getting 15 satellites found and 3-6 in use...
so I got tired of the annoying.. hey upgrade now so went back to Lollipop. I then googled last night and found this..

WOAH!!!! just opened me phone up and viola. Unplugged. I just walked outside and BAM!!!! 21 satellites in view and locked on 18!!!! WOAH and in 3 seconds...
I just updated to LineageOS Nightly lineage-14.1-20170410, and since then my GPS Searching indicator is on solid all the time, whether I have any open apps using GPS or not. It's having a really drastic effect on my battery, and if I don't shut it down every time I want to use it for at least a full minute before hand, nothing will achieve a GPS lock. I tried using a GPS Status app to see if I could diagnose it, but all it says is that it's constantly searching for GPS. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of issue?
did you search search in their thread. it either the rom or youre phone
That sounds like a bug in the Rom. You didn't have the problem before flashing Lineage so it's not likely a hardware issue. As the previous poster stated you should check the Lineage thread and see if anyone is having the same issue. If not you could try doing a clean flash of the Rom to see if that clears up the issue.

Wipe cache and dalvik? There is a new build up (04-24) so try it. Otherwise roll back to the previous build and check it.

I did try that with no success. Tried the new build too, same issue. I can't roll back without a clean flash unfortunately because like a big dummy I didn't make a backup first. I may just flash it clean tonight anyway.
I haven't tried rolling back a LOS installation myself (N7 Deb), but wouldn't expect it to create a problem. If you're considering a clean flash anyway, why not give it a shot? That's an odd problem to have and may indicate a hardware issue. You may want to flash stock real quick just to verify it is the ROM?

I took a look at the gps.conf file really quick, literally everything was commented out of it. I found a guide on here for programming in your own country/region and that seems to have made a ton of difference. I work in the basement of a 21 story hospital which as it happens isn't an ideal gps testing area, I'll know for sure if it helped when I Uber later tonight.
Ok make sure your Location Mode is set to high accuracy (uses Wi-Fi, BT and cellular networks to determine location) GPS Status should be populating the gps.conf file for you. Maybe you reset it while in a bad location and no Wi-Fi?
