Hello Guyz,
The launch of Nougat for our beloved Xperia Z5 is near.
I got one update from GSM arena regarding Nougat beta release on Xperia X devices, so we can have soon a look on what's on-board being cooked for us.
We can discuss about Android 7 for our Xperia over here.

Here is one more update
QUOTE
Yesterday Sony let the lucky people who it picked to enter its latest beta program know that the first Android 7.0 Nougat build for the*Xperia X Performance*would be*rolling out in a matter of hours. And sure enough, today some X Performance devices have already received the first beta release of Nougat, as evidenced by the screenshots you can see below.
The beta program is only open for the single-SIM variation of the Xperia X Performance, which has the model number F8131. The first Nougat firmware is build 39.2.A.0.248, and it contains the October 1 security patches.

Daammnnn Sony, y u so up-to-date.
7.0 instead of 7.1 and probably we will be still on october security patch when nougat update becomes official.
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
true , it makes no sense, they're already late to the party, i wouldn't mind to wait a little longer and get 7.1 instead... by Sony's rhythm we wont see 7.1 until august next year (best case scenario.)
I hope MHL output works with Android 7 on our Z5...I haven't found anyone cover that feature on the Z3 developers preview...does anyone know...
Preview ?

thats the reason why i need nougat update, and new status bar too.

Sony has officially begun rolling out the newest Android Nougat update to the first Sony smartphone to get it. Them*Sony Xperia X Perforance*is now receiving the update OTA which will bring the handset to firmware build number 39.2.A.0.327.
If you remember. toward the beginning of the month Sony*held a beta*for testers to find bugs for the Sony Xperia X Performance’s Nougat update. For reference, the first Nougat beta release carried a build number of: 39.2.A.0.248.
The update brings Nougat features that were previously not on Marshmallow such as native support for split-screen windows, some new options in the Sony Camera viewfinder, improved touch sensitivity, auto rotation bug fix (before the*patch was released), and improved Stamina mode for extending battery life.
Two model numbers that the update pertains to are: F8131 and F8132. This means all unlocked models, both US and international versions, are getting the update. If you’ve not yet gotten it, you can go to your 'Settings' > 'About Device' > and then tap 'Software Updates'.

They said sometime mid-late December from that leaked slideshow. The XZ and X Performance got them faster than any of us expected so I think they're not too far off from the Z5. I don't think it'll take as long as Marshmallow did.
I guess it will be available soon in aweek or one more. ?
Atleast they are following the leaked update slideshow.

As 32.2.A.4.53 is the latest, what you found seems just a minor update of Mm, not Nougat. We are looking at first 2-3 groups to increment for N, I suppose.

It seems like that this time Sony is going to beat everyone and bring the latest version of Android on its new Xperia device. It’s recently appeared in the official Sony Xperia blog a screenshot showing the system information of Xperia Z C6603, where you can admire the latest version of Android 4.2.2.
What you can see below is the first screenshot of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Sony Xperia Z (C6603). It was sent to us by an anonymous tipster with some of the baseband and kernel details understandably masked. It shows us that the Android 4.2.2 JB update will have firmware version 11.1.A.1.450. However, we are told this is a beta version, so expect the firmware version number to be in the form of 11.1.A.X.XXX by the time it is released. It uses a new 3.6 kernel, compared to 3.4 kernel of the old Android 4.1.2 firmware. Best of all, we are told that the official release for this Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware will take place at the end of March in Europe. Obviously none of this is official information so take it with a pinch of salt, but if Sony does manage to upgrade the Xperia Z a month after release many customers will be very happy indeed.

Sony, then, is already working on Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and it’s near to release it as an update to its new device. Not only that, but from the screenshot you can clearly see that the kernel is updated to version 3.6, this mean, that Sony his going to beat the Nexus family that is standing with 3.4.
Release which should take place in Europe by the end of March. If so, and we have good reason to believe it, this time all the other manufacturers would have to take a cue from Sony!
I just hope it has the screen calibration. :fingers-crossed:

Hope this update comes too for my xperia tx and the 2012 xperia line

compare android version with kernel version or the build #
Now why are the dots between numbers blurry and to close to each other?
It's a bad resize.
It's real, but that doesn't mean the release is all that close. Late March sounds a bit optimistic but it's possible. 4.1.2 on the Xperia Z is extremely stable, I haven't encountered a single bug, hang, slowdown or bad wakelock since I got it!

mid june rumor says
Mid June is a bit too early, but I think it could arrive somewhere in the summer.
4.2.2 is not a priority for Sony, they want to make sure their own services and additions work well first. And it'll be worth it if you ask me
Sony Xperia Z should be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat by March - according to a Polish carrier
Sony’s Xperia Z received an official update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in December, and it appears that it will make the jump to KitKat pretty soon as well.
According to Play - one of Poland’s major mobile carriers - its Sony Xperia Z should be updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat in late February, or March. If that turns out to be accurate, Xperia Z owners in other parts of the world should expect to get the new version of the OS at about the same time. The Xperia Z turned 1 year old last month, and a KitKat birthday present would be really nice.
Alongside the Xperia Z, other slightly older Sony Android devices that will likely be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat later this year are the Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, and the Xperia Tablet Z. Naturally, the newer Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra will also be updated, possibly starting the next few months.

If this is true, then the turn around between 4.3 and 4.4 is impressive. Sony are turning out to be the best experience of an OEM Android handset producer that I've personally had.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
There's a good chance the 4.3 was late due to waiting for decent drivers from qualcomm, as 4.4 uses pretty much the same structure,
and QC have already released valid 4.4 drivers it shouldn't be too much work to bring up 4.4 on Sonys part.

New camera api need drivers update (it depends also on hardware, not only on software, so lollipop is not synonymous of camera api 2). For now even on z3 and z2 there aren't, speak about xperia family. Don't expect camera api 2 on our phone, first thing for a marketing choice. Which are the phones with new camera api support? For example, I saw Nexus 5....
Oh yes, s6 and m9 lol
The Xperia Z2 is one of the all-time greats of Smartphone history. It was one of the first phones ever to record 4K, had a 1080p screen with 3Gb of RAM and a 2.3Ghz Snapdragon 801 Processor. Will this be enough for the next major update? Or atleast a CM14 port?
Sony has recently released their Android Marshmallow update to numerous of their Xperia devices. The Z & Z1 was not one of them, so does this mean that the Z2 won't get a Android N update?
As far as I know, the Sony Xperia devices that will most probably get a Android N update is the Xperia Z4, Z4 tablet, Z5 Series, And X Series.
In my opinion, I think that the Z2 & Z3 does deserve their last update to be Android N as they are still pretty powerful phones; even after 2 years!
Do you think that the Z2 & Z3 have to get updated to Android N? Or atleast let Cyanogenmod make a Android N port for these devices? Vote now!
Thanks!
Sony was very generous upgrading Z and Z ultra to lollipop, so I think Sony will upgrade Z2 & Z3 to Android N .
At least it will update them both or left them behind both IMO.
The reason they left Z1 behind for the MM update, because there is a major hardware difference between Z1 & Z2
Sony will probably not update Z2 & Z3 to Android N, so no official rom from Sony.
But surly we will have CM14 and developers might also create Android N based roms.
I think they'll update our (still pretty good) Z2 handset. It may take a while again but Sony always tried (and still tries) to keep their flagships up-to-date.
I believe even the z1 can run android N smoothly but sony stopped the development of Z1 for some reasons. I'm afraid that the Z2 might not be updated to android N officially by Sony. But cm14 and aosp, yes of course our z2 will have them and other roms base on them. But who knows right, z2 and z3 are almost the same so if the Z3 will be supported then Z2 will stand a chance. Hope!

Yes I'm sure that Cm14 will arrive to z2 since cm14 is planned for nexus 5 even though the nexus 5 is less powerful so hopefully z2 will get cyanogenmod 15.
I don't think they will update them. But I will gladly use CM14 if it is going to happen (stable enough to use as daily driver)
I'm kind of disappointed with third party support on Sony devices. Devices like m8, g2, g3 has CM13, even my old S2 is being updated with official CM13...
I guess there aren't a lot of developers who like Sony devices.
AFAIK Sony provides updates for 2-2.5 years, based on other Xperia Z-series models; I'm not aware of any which have been updated past the 2.5-year mark. The Z2 is two years old this month, and literally just got Marshmallow today. Hence I highly doubt we'll get Android N, as it is still more than six months away.
I say more than six months because Google hasn't yet released the final version of Android N or even announced the name, and it took Sony six months from the Marshmallow release to a final roll-out. I would expect Z3 users will probably get Android N at the very end of 2016, and that will probably be their final update.
i think MM is final update for Z2
I recon we will not get any further updates to Android N from Sony.
However, I do believe we will get a ported version from Z3+ or Z5 in which we can run on our Z2 without any issues...

I think the time support for Xperia is 2 year.
Xperia Z start in 2013 and it have the end in 2015.
Xperia Z2/ Z3 start in 2014 and it will have the end in 2016.
The OS will update once a year. I think so it...
I think Xperia z3 will get Android N, it was released at the end of 2014 (octubre right?), but z2 was announced in february and released in april 2014.
if a Phone is release "1, january 2014" and another "31, december 2014" , you can't say Sony only support 2 year, so both Phone don't get the next update because both are from 2014.
For a regular People it does not mean a difference, but for a company yep.
Anyway we can get Android N Unofficialy, so dont lose your mind.

if a Phone is release "1, january 2014" and another "31, december 2014" , you can't say Sony only support 2 year, so both Phone don't get the next update because both are from 2014.
For a regular People it does not mean a difference, but for a company yep.
Anyway we can get Android N Unofficialy, so dont lose your mind.

Xperia Z released in Februar 2013, Xperia Z1 released in September 2013 and both have Lollipop as last update. So, I think if Z2 won't get Android N then Z3 won't get it either.
All I wonder now is if Z2 will get CM13 lol , cyanogen team seems to be so slow for Sony devices , 2 nightly builds per week with so small changelogs while samsungs gets nightly builds everyday . As far as I know they started from Sony and forgot who made them popular , that's sad .

Z3 is select for.android N preview my bro https://developer.sony.com/2016/04/21/get-android-n-developer-preview-on-selected-xperia-devices/

It seems like no one at cyanogenmod is working on the Z Line Xperia devices.
They based the CM13 kernel on sonys aosp kernel and now wait and merge that source.
Since there is only little performance differences between z2 and z3 so surely android N update will be available

Only the Z3 was/is the part of the Marshmallow concept program (Z2 joined the beta program recently) of these two and Z2 will get it, so I think this N beta program is inessential right now.

Next update will come in June acording to Rickard, Community Manager.
Look at this forum theme about bloetooth audio stutter problem.
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperi...after-marshmallow-update/td-p/1103796/page/21
And on this page there is his post.
This coud be 32.2.A.0.224 firmware Android 6.0.1.
It shall be done by mid of June according to leaked update road map that is out for months now, but seems i cannot find it again. But i know it stands for MR1 with Stamina function and version numbers do confirm that. Along this, in June both M4Aqua and M5 should be upgraded to MM
Man I hope it's 6.0.1, with the newest security patches. In its current state, the Z5 is still vulnerable to Stagefright
EDIT: Already rolling out for some devices it seems: http://www.xperiablog.net/2016/06/02/xperia-z5-firmware-update-32-2-a-0-224/
"At the time of writing, the update is available to the Xperia Z5 (E6603), Xperia Z5 Dual (E6683) and Xperia Z5 Compact (E5803, E5823), but we expect the Xperia Z5 Premium to go live shortly too. "
Goooood Sony, goooood dog :silly:
It's starting!

Really good! How long does it typically take to get carried over to the Z3+/Z4 as per experience? Anyone knows?

One or two days. Last time it was the same day and actually the Z3+ was first.
Upgraded just now, from Singapore. Has Stamina mode and ultra stamina mode. Running Android v6.0.1 with April 1st security level. Too early to anything more.

I have that build too. They maked up powersave and serve like stamina. But battery and camera optimization verry good.

Hi!
I have the Z5 dual since a week and my battery life is very bad :/ (I had Z3 before, and I'm very disapointed).
Was it improved with this last version?

Camera optimization very good? In what aspects?
Is anybody running the customised Russian version? I had to swap from that to customised UK when I sent my phone in for repair, the UK one has terrible battery compared to the Russian one, wondering if it's the same on 6.0.1.

They just added a new and revamped stamina mode.
Id recommend not to use it as it is likely to limit our device performance.

It is real stamina, just revamped.
It does reduce brightness and stuff like that so it is not the same as doze.

Then try android s power save. Oh wait. Its not here. But it was there at 5.1. Then decompress stamina. Ta taa you find powersave. Why? Cuz the stamina isnt real. Are both attach same? Absolutely not.
