So I accidentally selected the wrong thread to delete in my text messages and need to recover it. Everything I read says I need root to do it. Wondering how I would go about doing this. Have tried kingroot and towelroot but no luck with either. Anyone have any suggestions? Canadian note 3 Rogers running Android 5.0

Ok, so first off I rooted my previous phone (a Verizon Motorola Droid X2) without any problems ever. I dropped Verizon as my carrier and switched to Straight Talk and I bought the Samsung Galaxy S4, after a few months of having it I decided to look for a way to root it. After a few days of browsing and reading about I found and root option that worked. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758) This saferoot worked and i had superuser and was able to do everything i wanted to.
I then went on the Google play store and installed apps that I previously had on my old device for rooted phones. Well I installed chainfire3D and opened it up and clicked install the drives (which then requires a reboot) after a sort time I noticed my phone was stuck on the loading screen and I can't get past it.
I then start looking for a unroot/unbrick option in order to restore my phone to default firmware and factory settings to get it to work again.
Now here is the dilemma...
Like it says in the title, the phone model is SGH-S970G and for the life of me I can't find this model's firmware anywhere.
plz help me asap!!!!
Thank you in advance for any useful information to help point me in the right direction or give me a solution!

If you get your phone fixed, I suggest you skip reinstalling Chainfire 3D. It specifically says it's not for Jelly Bean devices.
Hello.
I have my Note 3 rooted and im don't know how to update to kitkat without breaking anything.
I'm scared that i will delete my pics and documents while doing it as im not familiar with the process.
Will it delete or corrupt my data from the SD card?
Any ideas how to do it?
My more is without any carrier and i deleted a lot of bloatware that came with the phone.
I attach picture of what I have about the kernel.
Thank you
I was able to root using the CDMA-YEMEN tool. No problems.
Installed Titanium backup and backed up all settings (and made a copy on my PC).
Installed Rom Manager from CWM
Chose the install recovery menu & it recognized my Note 3 and I downloaded and installed CWM recovery
Then I went to the create recovery and now I get a message :
secure fail
System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help
Any ideas what to do now?
Best idea go to the Verizon forum .

Doesn't the Verizon note 3 have a locked bootloader?

I thought it was unlocked when I rooted. Guess not. I heard on another forum that someone had put the same Remix 6.0.1 rom on his Verizon phone. Maybe he just loaded using ODIN and didn't try to put on CWM.
Someone I work with has the s5 active model g870a that has received the marshmallow 6.0.1 update. Something has happened that for some reason has wiped all of the pictures from her phone. I was going to see if I can recover anything from the phone, however I will need root access if I am going to examine the empty parts of the drive to see if I can recover anything. Does/can anyone tell me an effective rooting method for this phone? Does anyone have any idea how I can attempt a recovery of the photos without root?
*Edit*
I see there is a cf autoroot for SM-G870W. I feel like if I try this method I'm going to be looking at a bricked phone.
It can not be rooted, live and learn.... bu next time...

if you are able to downgrade and root the files will be over written by the downgrade and root method both leaving them more than likely gone
so pretty much you have to find a no root program that is capable of recovering them in oreo
Do you know by chance any software that really works without rooting? Thank you!!
Did you check your backups? Try to find an app that scans for deleted files, or a terminal command. Device manager most likely wiped the space.. probably shouldn't reboot the phone either..
