Mi5s Plus SOT and charging time - Xiaomi Mi 5s Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi
Switch from the mi5 to the oneplus 3 and now I will go back to MIUI. The Mi5s is to small and I need something like the Redmi Note 3 Pro. I get over 8h SOT but charging is a pain. Over 2h really su...
So I need to know know how good the battery is on the Mi5s Plus.
Whats the charging time with QC 3.0? On the Mi5 I get 60% in 30 min. I know, the battery is bigger on the Mi5s Plus but 1h for 80% is just great.

So far, I get about 5.5 hours of SOT on the Mi5s, and I'd consider myself a fairly heavy user. Casual games, lots of media consumption.
I haven't timed it, but the recharge is pretty quick. I'd say 60% in 30-45 minutes is pretty close to what I get. But like I said, I haven't actually timed it yet.

Same here, 5.5 hours of SOT. The charging times are amazing, from 1% to 85% in 60 minutes. I normally use the phone to 10% and charge it to 90%, so 1 hour of charge and i'm ready to go

Not Mi5s, I look for Plus with 3700-3800 mAh.

This is probably the most SoT I've ever had on a phone. I wasnt even purposely trying to squeeze the most juice out of it.

The Redmi Note 3 Pro get about 8h, Mi5 about 5-6h so the Mi5s need to score over 6h :/

I own a Mi 5s Plus and the charging time from 2% to 100% is 1hr40m. I get about 2 to 2.5 days between charges. Bluetooth, Mobile Data and WiFi are always ON. WiFi is ON during sleep also.

5h SOT at 2 Days also great!

I have a mi5s plus if the thread is still alive,
At first I was getting 10-12h sot now a days I'm getting 7-8h Sot.

Have a look.

Err... OK I'm clearly doing something wrong. I get less than 3h SOT and I'm doing everything I know to conserve power, namely I run Greenify, Amplify, switch off data at night... can anyone provide settings or tips to improve battery life on Mi5s?
Thanks

Thoose figures I posted where with all the mentioned apps you are running.
I'm getting 7-8h Sot with standard installation running latest developer ROM.
I just installed latest v7.1.19 with greenify, amplify, powernap and force doze. Will report in a few days what figures I get.
Regarding your Sot, it's very low, by looking at the stats you seem to have alot of wakelocks and I'm guessing it's related to Google and Android.
Check GPS settings, turning GPS off by using QuickTile only changes to battery save or GPS only. Turn of GPS completely, just Hold on the GPS tile and it will take you right in place. As for amplify have a look at what settings are recommended according to the thread.
Other than that you should get better stats with stock ROM.
Check in security app and in manage battery consumption per app. You should adjust autostart apps, background activity etc.

Thanks... let us know how your figures are in a few days. I'm running 6.12.8 so should update too. Will tinker with settings to see if I can improve SOT first though. Do you also have MIUI's own battery saver running?

Yeah I'm using miuis own battery saver with the apps I want not restricted and autostarted. Once it's been a few days I will post new pics and after that I will try Qualcomm mpdecision and see if it will work and affect battery.

7.1.20 gave me 8.5h Sot, I should have tested a few days more but once I fount multirom I couldn't wait.
So now I'm running multirom v7.1.20 with mpdecision enabled (taken from globe ROM) and I've got xposed framework v87 and with the following enabled, amplify, greenify, powernap, force doze and bootmanager more or less.. Oh and I'm using miuis internal power saver.
Will get back in a few days.

After a few tests with 3 different roms and with xposed framework enabled and mpdecision. I must say that batter life is almost the same. It seems that xiaomi has managed to keep wakelocks in place.
I ran xiaomi.eu with xposed, mpdecision enabled,
Amplify
Powernap
Bootmanager
Greenify (donation)
Force doze
With miui powersaver.
7-8h sot
I did the same with multirom and also got 7-8h sot.
So now in running multirom as "stock"
7-8h sot.
I expected slot better sot with all the apps mentioned above but it seems xiaomi has solved alot of the wakelocks issues my older phones have had, Sony z3, ulefone power, nubia z7 max, Samsung s5, xiaomi redan note 3 pro etc.
I'm a bit sad that I'm not getting 10-12h sot I got with xiaomi.eu the first dev versions that came out not sure what number but guess it was v6.x.xx

Mate 8 Battery Life Thread

How's everyone doing as far as battery life? I didn't charge my phone last night after using it moderately during the day and night. I used it moderately-heavy today. I got 7 hours 57 minutes of screen on time. When I use the phone during the day I leave it on 100% screen brightness. When I lay down in bed I put the brightness at around 25%. I always leave the phone on Performance. I'm sure I can do better, but let's have a contest here to see who can squeeze the most battery life out of this device. This battery lasts a long time in the Mate 8, i'm loving it.
2 days on mobileb data and wifi
SOT : 7 hr. 54 min 40 s.
7% before I am charging

i usually get anywhere between 10-12h SOT
screen is on auto, energy mode is optimized, manually switched cpu governor to powersave via trickster mod. worst case scenario is 10h SOT when playing games, best case around 12h without gaming

Can you screen shot of "manually switched cpu governor to powersave via trickster mod" to me ?
trickster mod is working in our device and kernel. Is it stable after reboot ?

It is difference between wifi and mobile data.On wifi we can on many SOT than mobile data.
I know, that is why I asked only wifi or flight mode. I think in normal usage like 60:40 or 70:30 mobile data wifi, I can't believe, we can reach this sot with mixed usage and gaming.

~ 7h flight mode
~ 5h connected to wifi with light usage all the rest 4g
Normal usage with Facebook (now deleted, to try Slim social in terms of battery life) Whatsapp, Tapatalk, gReader, google app, play store and some others stuff. With my previous note 3 and 4 never reached this time. Love this beast

I wanted to have at least a weeks worth of testing, with cell data activated, in order to give my perspective.
Hands down, this is the best performing and battery saving device I have ever used. It's really no contest. According to GSAM Battery Monitor Pro, my averages are 1.5 days screen on time and 2 days total battery life per full charge! Only thing that I've been doing, at night, that I'm planning on testing otherwise, is turning on Ultra Power Saver mode, before going to sleep.
I am running on Performance battery mode during the day, while accomplishing the above stats. I'll see how it does tonight, when I don't turn on ultra power saving, but I'd imagine I could still make it 24 hours easily, without needing a full recharge.
i leave it on smart mode but turn on airplane mode, that way im only using anywhere between 0-3% overnight so with ultra mode it should be in the range of 0-1%

It seems that enabling double tap to wake drains significantly more battery. My Android System usage after enabling it was at 25% today and I only have 4 hours of screen on time and my battery is down to 22%. I was also getting random black screens when trying to unlock until I disabled it. This is why Huawei didn't enable it on the Mate 8. The same issue happened with my Mediapad X2 and it took about 5 updates to get it working properly. I'm sure in the future it will be enabled and working well.
On my ex Huawei Honor 6 Plus 5.5" w/ Lollipop the DTW doesn't use any significant battery power, and that phone has a Kirin 925 processor, so there is no apparent reasons why on Mate 8 it should use more power.
I too hope that the currently observed battery drain was caused by a not yet complete and correct implementation of this functionality...

I might try Smart mode tonight. Ultra battery mode, while the device barely drains between 0-1% for me, it does seem to undo some of the defaults I have set, like taking Messenger off as my default text messaging app.
Please help me!
My battery is drain and I don't know how to fix it.
The problem is caused by Android System and SO Android.
Yesterday I had wipe data, wipe partition, clean all Android Services cache but thw proble continues.

In reading the first part of your statement, I thought there was a double tap to wake funciton that I didn't see anywhere and might have overlooked. But after reading thoroughly through, I actually love the fingerprint sensor on the Mate 8, which wakes the phone. What I did/do, and it's similar to what I've done in my devices for the past 4 years, is use Widgetlocker in addition to the fingerprint sensor. That way, when I wake the phone with my fingerprint, there's still a lockscreen that prevents unnecessary touches, prior for me needing to do whatever I have to do on my phone. Only quirk of using Widgetlocker on the Mate 8 is that I can seem to figure out how to fix the settings, so it will allow me to edit my lockscreen. My workaround has been to create/edit the lockscreen on one of my phones, and then use Pushbullet to send over the backup.
Anyhow, just wanted to share my 2 cents, although it would be really nice to have the double tap to wake. I do have double tap for "screen lock", courtesy of Nova Launcher. I linked the double-tap function (gesture in Nova Launcher settings) to the "screen off" app. I'm not sure if that is a stock Huawei app or if it's a stock Marshmallow function, but it was pre-loaded on my Mate 8 and it works perfectly! Only down side is that it only works on the homescreens (which, I think is the same way it works on LG phones), but it is awesome to not have to hit the power button to put the phone in standby.
Battry
My phone's battery consumption on Android system. Consumption is always at the top. Night from 12 pm to 6 am about 6 percent of consumption. Mate 7 nights before I was 1%. I feel like Mate 7 is not strong consumption and high phone battery, update firmware, I still was not 185 b103. Excuse my English is not good.
ایرانی های عزیز اگه هستند کمک کنن
At my phone the bigger consumption is from android system on which the app with the most milliamps is the settings... LOL wtf? Second consumption is on hardware phone calls and then SOT... How is that even possible?

Best Kernel setup for battery life

Hello XDA members. I've been struggling to get a good battery life. My aim is atleast a day of usage along with a minimum of 4 hours SoT. Currently on XtreStoLite 3.3.1 Rom with Arter Kernel (SM-G920I).
If you search for a thread called 'Galaxy S6 battery is insane', you will notice some tips, and the op is mentioning getting 8 hours of SoT.

Idk how is this possible, implying that it generally is. I'm on my own self heavily debloated stock (basically as light as XtreSto but the base is the latest one) with arter kernel 21.0 (best release imho) and I get 3.5hrs SoT average. I use Greenify and got rid of ****ty apps long time ago - talking mainly about Facebook.
The thing is that nobody even posted a screenshot of this ridiculous SoT score so I can hardly believe it.
That's there. However, I could see 2 screenshots of 8 hours and 10 hours of SoT. Might be a screenshot from some other phone
man 8h sot or 10 h sot is impossible. And dont trust all you see in the battery threads.
This phone is capable of maximum 6h 30 sot on wifi with light usage..i mean reddit ,xda
4h sot with heavy usage.
And 3h on 3g
Dont expect any more.

Okay. Another suggestion.
I'm on XtreStoLite 3.3.1 Rom. Using stock kernel, Greenify, DisableService to increase battery life. Any other suggestions? (If any app, please give detailed settings ). Thanks
I had 7.5h SoT on 5.1.1 full stock without much tweaking, so this is completely real. However this is 2g+wifi. On 3g and lte I can hardly get 3h on any ROM
How the F can you achieve 4h+ on Samsung S6??? I'm new to S6, tried atleast 5 ROMs and 2 kernels (arter and nogeek) and by any chance I didn't get more than 3h SOT ...
Interactive (Max. battery)(underclocked)(undervolted) + noop i/o + HEBF app = 4h sot on 3g. 6,5h sot Wi-Fi for me.
@edit
Ahh i forgot.. +GovTuner
Okay. And any kernel suggestions?

Thanks for this thread. Went with xStreSoLite and arter 21 kernel and so far it's looking really good. Atleast 4h+ SOT looking to be.
Well. I'm finally back to everything stock. Just have the EZ Disabler app.
How's Arter 22 vs 21 vs Hacker Kernel ?
Combination of WiFi on(75%) and off(25%).
I think you can tweak and flash all you want. The main reason for drain on the phone is the brightness. So just turn it down as low as you can (I am on auto and about 1/3 of the brightness slider). Like this I get around 4 hrs of SOT, depending on where I am (autobrightness). If I start turning the brightness up, it just sucks up my battery in no time. So I think all this flashing and especially undervolting and underclocking your chip don't do much except maybe slow your phone down and make it instable. And all the time you spent on the tweaking process, you might as well have used otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I also used to do it, just because I could and because I liked it, but looking and it now, it just wasn't worth the time. Just close your background apps from time to time, disable and uninstall those you don't need, use an appropriate network speed (you probably don't always need LTE) and turn down the brightness.
Cheers, n00by

^ Basically this
I currently use my phone heavily with Xtrestolite 3.3.1 (Android 6.1) with the following:
Kernel: Arter97 kernel(interactive)
Google: MicroG to replace Google Play crap
Apps: Amplify / AppopsXposed / Greenify / Titanium Backup
With most crap uninstalled/frozen SOT-times vary heavily depending on brightness and use, for example I use Snapchat and Instagram a lot so I need to SEE what happens on the screen without putting effort in it which in some occasions forces me to tune up brightness.
Most likely if I were to use 5.x Android instead of 6.x it would decrease overall battery use but my phone is currently running smooth so I don't want to go through the hassle to get that working.
I don't see why you all are not getting good battery life. This phone has awesome battery life.

Battery life on LG G4 h815

Hi guys
I have just purchased a new LG g4 h815.
I am loving the speed, the looks and everything but I have an issue regarding battery life. I am getting a screen on time of around 2.5 hrs with moderate to heavy use, is it normal for LG g4 though to don't play any games or stuff . Previously I had used a Samsung Note 4 it had an amazing battery life, screen on time was around 3.5 to 4 hrs with moderate to heavy use.
Any suggestions to improve battery life I have turned off location services, auto sync and Bluetooth, screen brightness is @40 % but WIFI is turned on constantly
I have surfed a lots of sites and forums most of them are complaining about the battery life of this phone but still most of them are getting around 3 to 3.5 hrs of screen on time.

The only thing you can do is get back on lollipop. 6h SOT is pretty average score on lollipop

I have basically given up on this phone. Never get any updates (in Norway) and battery is very poor. The worst phone I ever had comparing battery. You should not have to turn off everything and tweak the phone and ask in forums to get good battery time. My father have a samsung brand and don't know **** about android or phones and have he's phone full of crap and never optimized it for anything and he STILL have great battery... Much better than mine. Weird right?
A thing I think, is that this phone struggle with WiFi. I have a lot of wifi disconnects and it gets very hot when it struggles with wifi. Sometimes when im at home I can have 60% left battery and not use it for a while and then suddenly have 40%...

Having just gone though the same hassles, I found the only way to get good battery life is to get the latest version of Lollipop (V10F-TWN-XX for me), root and install Greenify to hibernate hungry apps like facebook etc. I find my battery life is now better than my old G2. I get about 3+ hours SOT and lots of standby time. (Its 10:20 am right now, usage on battery is 3h 35 mins, estimated time remaining is 155 hours, 3 % use in last 3h, 28m screen on time) Previously my battery would have been on 50-60% by mid day, now its in the 90s.
I was almost ready to ditch the phone and find something else, which would have been a shame as I like this phone.
What I tried and found along the way:
- Use the battery charger that came with the phone, the charger that came with my phone had a different plug so I used another brand. This was charging my battery too fast and causing it not to hold as much charge.
- I tried almost every Marshmallow stock rom I could find. Nothing seemed to be that great with the battery.
- I disabled wifi when not in use, location bluetooth etc...went back to almost no apps just to see what was causing poor battery, but determined it wasn't anything other than the system.
Anyway, thats what worked for me. Hope that helps.
Great battery life on Genisys for BL developed by Ignacio R. No root, bloatware blocked, Hibernation Manager on board. It's not heavy used, most browser on wifi/lte, g+, youtube.

Location-enabled, Wifi and 4g ON, decent graphics intense gaming, decent social media, camera and web usage.
All on LTE. (I don't have any WiFi)
I'm loving the battery life.
I don't use FB or the like. Dark theme, location off until needed, LTE only, BT always on for my Gear S3.
I can only chuckle when I remember reading people's posts pre release saying the battery needed to be bigger
wireless charging our Oneplus 5T is possible
not as fast as wired charging but we can do it

I forgot the last time I charged my battery
I'm quite happy with mine.
Loving the battery! I'm at 50% with 5 hrs SOT. Started at 92% because it seemed to reset to that after a recovery reboot. Approx. 85% on home WiFi. Mostly Chrome, Tapatalk, and email.
How do you guys get the phone sleep so well
I really have the feeling m WiFi is draining a lot but I'm not sure maybe it's all normal.
Using OOS 4.7.5 with Frankenkernel R9

Not using WiFi. BT is always on. Music, fb, google. Dark theme, auto brightness, ambient display...
This thing is f-ing amazing! 7+ hrs SOT at 50%! 100% home WiFi.
Guys please tell also setup did you use an other kernel or ROM? Just bragging with awesome SOT is frustrating for me lol

100% stock O2.
100% stock, rooted, naptime, 95% WiFi. Haven't got a full cycle yet, since I had to reboot installing Arise/viper. I'm at 87% with 1.5 hrs SOT at the moment. I can see getting 10hrs, more than double my 6p with same usage.
Im on latest Omni 8.1 and started on 70%. For me its really good.
I can't get over how good battery is on this thing! Stock 4.7.4 rooted. 95% WiFi.
About 5 hrs of SOT stock non root.
This was a heavy day of usage though, 1080p 60fps video recording. Snapchat used a lot. Fave book and Instagram. Some games too! Whole shebang and it delivers 5hrs! Quite impressed to be honest.
Most gaming was 2D but some was 3D (Minecraft at max settings).
Charging is fast.

Miui EU 12.0.3.0 - SOT

Hi,
I have a Mi 9T with the official EU rom 12.0.3.0.
I am not a hard user, only using emails, whatsapp, internet ... (no games or movies) but I only have 5-6 hours SOT.
I have as well restricted many apps in the background.
The battery is not draining when I am not using my phone, or a very little drain 2% but as soon as i use my phone, the battery goes down very quick.
Main consumer is Android system with 30%.
I did a factory reset on the 12.0.2.0 version, still bad SOT and last week I had the 12.0.3.0 update, SOT unchanged (5-6 hours).
I have seen many subjects on the forum but i feel like not everybody found a solution for having a nice SOT (8-10 hours). I usually keep my phone 2 days without charging it, with same apps. But today i mostly need to charge it everyday.
Are you guys in the same boat?
If not what is your SOT, and what ROM or setting do you use?
I would prefer to stay on a official ROM if possible.
I becoming desperate with this poor SOT, thinking to go back on miu10... which is a shame because i bought this phone to enjoy last os.
Cheers,
You can try the global version,( 12.0.5) or a custom rom like xiaomi.eu that uses a debloat version of chinese rom, stable and weekly.

Thanks,
What is your SOT with the global rom?
I don't use global, my rom is last Xiaomi.eu stable ( 12.0.4). And i don't know the SOT. But it's fine for me.

SOT means Screen On Time, you can see it in "Battery & performance -> Battery usage stats.
Right now, my SOT is 2h40min and I have 46% battery left. So I would probably get around 5hours SOT once my battery is gone.
I think it is very little but I would like to know if people have similar SOT to mine?
First of all screw miui ,if y are a practical orientated person who only cares about

Please flash a rom which is caf based ASOP doesn't make sense to Snapdragon driven phone
*I myself use pa quartz 4 edition ( sadly no quartz 5 )
*I got upto 14 hours of sot once that was just with browsing @25-30% brightness with mobile data on
*I've restricted all unwanted **** including google assistant , I'm running gappa pico edition , I use Google Chrome for satisfying my needs of Gmaps , Gmail etc. ( Ofcourse I've disabled "Google" app too, along with vibration and all kinds of hepatic feedback including touch sounds on dialer )
And I get An average of 10 hours SOT watch the screen shot.
I'm talking every 10%=1hour or 1hour+.
TRADEOFF : FOD - in this rom fod never works fine and is broken. if you need fod or if you prefer it over the double tap to wake + pattern mode which I myself use now you should rather get yourself PIXEL EXPERIENCE or lineage os 17.1 . (FOD WORKS Steamlessy on PE rom , 2ndly on lineage os but battery life never gets better than this it's always under 10 hours but all these 3 are way ahead of all miui roms which no MI bloatware and fake optimization only part about miui is that FOD and our device has a lot of hidden bugs which you don't find in our day to day usage which I got exposed to myself after messing up my persist image a while back ).
The last versioni of miui 12 and 11 have bad sot. On 12.0.2 i had also a battery drain with screen of now on the 12.0.3 in 7 hours i have 3% of battery discarghe with screen off but with screen on the drain Is vert higt 20% of hour.

Thank you, we have the same problem.
So what have you done? Are you using another ROM now?
I'm on MIUI Global 12.0.3.0 and I constantly get max of 4.5 hours SOT.
1 hour calls
3 hours social media and messaging
Brightness around 90% fixed
mixed LTE & WIFI usage

Hi, yes I see yours is even worse than mine.
Have you tried a factory reset with the new 12.0.3.0?
I guess you should try to use automatic brightness because 90% is a lot and may consume lots of energy.
The last 2 days, I have tried the saver mode and the battery actually last much longer.
I am around 8.5-9 hours SOT now. I have activated the auto synchronisation to get updates in live.
I will continue on this set up this week, but I am pretty happy with this SOT, it gave me almost 2 days without charging now.
