I think stock is the most stable ones, but if you look for more features, you should go for Resurrection Remix or Dirty Unicorn. I currently using RR, kinda stable enough for me

Pretty good actually, for me I get like 24 hours or more for daily usage, and for heavy usage I got about 10-12 hours. But's my usage, I don't know about you though. For heavy gaming like Final fantasy 9 I got about between 2-3 hours roughly.

Best ROMs according to users

As the title suggests, all the Moto x play users are invited to tell which ROMs they used and term as best.
The criteria is all you can choose from like fluidity, features, stability, battery life, etc
So start flashing new ROMs and keep posting in the thread.
Enjoy Flashaholics...
In my opinion Resurrection Remix has the best combination of features and it is very stable, but it could have better battery life and fluidity (I read that the next release will be more fluid)
CrDroid has the most commonly used features, it lacks some bells and whistles but it provides good battery life.
Using RR with squid's kernel, the device performs superbly, but yes, as @alresave mentioned, the battery life could be a little better.
Haven't used it personally, but for performance and battery life, I'd recommend you go for Tesla since its mostly AOSP and much more stable and fluid.
For me Cm13 with squid kernel

How is battery life vs stock for you? Also, does CM13 support ambient display?
I thought I saw temasek say his CM13 was tweaked to include it.
I just found out that the stock ROM doesn't support hotplugging, which I thought only had to do with the ROM. I'm wondering if I would get bettery battery life using CM13(due to hotplugging, mainly,) but also wondering if there are any noticeable hiccups still.

Cm13 does have ambient display - showing notifications, clock etc.
On stock with my setting - I don't used greenify and such apps i got about 6-7 SOT with a little below 40 h mark without charger. I am using CM13 with squid kernel for about 24h and needles to say the battery life will be a little worse due to changing kernel settings flashing CM13 nightly update etc . The kernel needs to be left alone for a few days to settle which gives best results. Latest 0407 nightly build with squid kernel 16b with interactive governor will give 5-6 SOT IMO.
To put the battery life in perspective - my friend has stock HTC Desire Eye and he has to charge it every day with medium usage and maybe 3 sot.
From the next nightly ota update i will be using cm13 without any extra kernel just to see how the basic kernel performs and that the basic battery life is

I am on Blisspop and man its got everything I need. It's stable and slick. Battery life has to be checked. Blisspop and RR are very similar in features they offer. Tried both of them.
The logo of RR is very slick and nice. Even the boot animation is really nice.

I miss SlimPIE. Some ROMs even say they have it but have PAPIE or CMPIE.
Gotta say the best rom was stock 5.1 but I found Tesla Rom to be stupid snappy regardless of kernel. Battery for whatever reason has been crap for me but most users in the thread report an amazing battery life. I've only had it for a day so I guess I'll let things settle and see if the rom does the trick after all.
I tried AICP and Bliss, and Bliss with ultra kernel r5 works fine!
If you want battery go with any slim based Rom's. That will be for battery- I tried orion- one bug each time I reboot data Sim got switched to primary slot.
Now I am sticking with Stock due to it's smart Sim feature.
I am on validus right now and it seems better than RR in terms of performance.

Tried Every ROM, But Stock Based ROM Marshmallux v2.0. Because Camera Performance & Battery is Great in Stock. Without Stock Other ROMs Camera Performance is Not Good.

In Which ROMS
Stock rom or a debloated stock rom like marshmallux or GtrCraft are my personal favorite's for smoothness and battery life.

Optimize RN3P roms!

Love that this phone is receiving so much developer attention. There are new roms literally popping up everyday. Howoever, I have a small request to make. I would like for the roms to be more optimized for the phone. For exmaple, on CM13, the phone is heating up even with minimal apps installed. the battery life is also very poor, and android system and play services are draining battery. There are also sometimes random reboots. I flashed to the unofficial Resurrection Remix and the battery life was wors. I love how much smoother and featureful the roms are but please make them more optimized.

I didn't encounter any of these problems. Battery life is fantastic, phone doesn't heat up and nothing is draining. Did you change the governor from performance to interactive?

use the xiaomi.eu roms, they are the smallest in size with no bloatware and much optimisation. They will also give u fab battery life.

I flashed the XIaomi.eu roms but the battery life was also terrible. Only the stock rom has good battery life.
I have used CM 13 by Santosh and it's battery life is very unpredictable. So switched to RR by siddesh and it's giving very good battery backup and SOT of around 8~9hrs. Just ensure to do clean flash

Best battery friendly MM ROM?

Anyone has the most battery friendly combination of ROM and kernel? I've tried almost every MM ROM but doesn't satisfy me. I just bought a new battery recently for my D802 and still draining fast. Im using latest bumped twrp. I have never had an SOT of more than 4 hours of normal usage. Now I'm barely getting 3 hours sot and it sucks. So any tips will be appreciated thanks!

I've tried that too. What kernel tweak you use and settings?
I should have mentioned that I have been using the Lambda Domino Stable kernel and the efficiency battery profile. I also use Greenify for doze on the go (aggressive doze).
I use PA with the original Kernel. Battery life is for me like Stock KitKat.

I once use beanstalk and the battery is really fine but when i changed ROM and install again Beanstalk battery was never the same. I don't know what went wrong. I've always used greenify.
Using PA with Lambda Hipnose Beta 9 kernel right now. Using lots of alarm/wakelock blocks etc with amplify and greenify. Battery life seems okay, but I'm asking myself if exodus, beanstalk or resurrection remix would do better? Did anyone try and can make a direct comparison? I care more about battery life than about performance tbh. Thanks in advance!

crdroid was great, with aggressive doze !
Currently on XOSP with latest lambda beta. Averaging 4hours SOT from 100 to drain. Basically lasts a day with minimal gaming and mostly web surfing, youtube and facebook. Performance kinda lags but tolerable.

This isn't a marshamallow ton but if you want best of both worlds trust me and try ice rom v5.9 final it's actually as some with the camera battery life evrything it's fluid. Trust me try it you won't regret it even though it's lolipop based
Otherwise if you really like marshmallow I really liked aokp but I'm sticking with the ice ton you can find it on 4dpa

I have no personal experience with Lineage but I was never a fan of Cyanogenmod and have read multiple posts that suggest it's pretty buggy. Stock will depend on which version of Android you are talking about. All versions of stock are pretty stable. Marshmallow is outdated but some people prefer it to Nougat because it gets better battery life than Nougat and works with Xposed. Nougat gets the latest features and security updates but for some reason Google has been pushing the default kernel settings very high recently so people have been experiencing poor battery life and the operating system itself eating up much more battery than in the past. AOSP would depend on the Rom you are running. I use Dirty Unicorns which is extremely stable and has better battery life than stock. Some Aosp Roms are more buggy and may provide better or worse battery life than stock depending on how they are programmed. There are also stock based Roms like Cortex, which adds Pixel features and gets the best battery life of any Rom I've been on. But the downside of a stock based Rom is that there is no OMS support for Substratum theming. My personal preference is for Dirty Unicorns but different people like different Roms.
I went to dirty unicorns and to me it's is faster than stock ROM cortex. I also like DU because it is oms and that is very important to me. Also having nav bar button customization is a plus. I would only jump back to stock if aosp takes to long to release
Stock is always most stable and allows for instant, effortless updates when available.
In terms of battery life, varies on your usage, I've had battery life that I would expect from a 3450 mAh phone.
You would see people buy a 6P and then start installing ROMs hours after and claim to get better/phenomenal battery life. Funny thing is that they have no idea what baseline is -_-

I went from Cortex to stock 7.1.2 for several days because I wanted to try stock again. The drop off in battery life was extremely noticable. People have also noted that on recent builds of stock if you look at the battery stats Android operating system and screen are eating up much more battery than they used to.

I didn't notice DU being any faster but I do like OMS support. There always seem to be problems with Substratum if you don't have it.
Bro, Chads uber obviously is the best. It is on clang 5.0.0 and is extremely fast and stable and I get up to 8 hours sot and weeks on standby. Also I built wakeblock for uber so I can block wakelocks to save even more battery.

Hello,
All ROMs should be stable. Stock is bloated, using a custom ROM helps getting ride of all the unnecessary stuff running in the background. Depending on your usage, battery life will fluctuate.
I only browse, send SMS/MMS, take pictures, videos and watch youtube with my phone. Mostly over WiFi. Don't have social network apps syncing in the background all the time. Yeah, i get 7 hours sot...
But, i guess the same with 3G/4G + Facebook + WhatsApp, etc... And I would be down to 3 hours sot obviously...
Don't let people decide for you which ROM is the best, because there is none. The best ROM is the one you like. These guys put a lot of time and effort to release their ROM. Some more than others, but still, saying this or this ROM is the best is kind of dumb and also insulting to other developers.
If there was a "best" ROM, the forum would only have one. Because everybody would use it. Or there is a best ROM and in this case those using the others are completely blind to see the truth?
Lol...
Check the forum and decide by yourself. Some are stock based, others aosp, lightweight or filled with a lot of options and customization.
Takes a few minutes to setup and if you don't like one, switch to another...
Happy flashing.
Cheers...

Rom recommendation

Hi everyone, I m currently on oxygen os 3.5.9 and my battery drains like crazy. Can you guys please recommend me a rom that gives good screen on time. I am even willing to downgrade to lollipop because battery life is really crucial for me. Thanks!!
I'm in the same case, looking for the best choice with the maximum stability and good battery life
I tried so but returned to LineAge even if the battery life is not really good but the ROM is the most stable ever now
Tonight will try Carbon to test, but if someone found the best compromise in one ROM That it notifies us
Try AOSCP. It's really good.
Moyses I tried lineage and yes the same issue battery is not that great. Hopefully we will find a good battery friendly rom. Let me know how the carbon rom works for you.
Ny_3 thanks I will check it out. What's the average screen on time that you get with this rom?
I would either recommend AospExtended/AEX or Resurrection Remix if you like customizability. I am using AEX and don't have any problems with battery life.

Well I've got 3 and a half hours of SOT but it's really the best I've got on a custom rom (guess my battery is bad). I actually bought a new battery 2 days ago so I will have to check how it is after that. But thats basicaly what I get most of the time using FB messenger Spotify and YouTube. Keep in mind its not full of features. It's kinda like Paranoid 6 : Smooth, not full of features, and really stable.
