Samsung Galaxy S5 is restarting on its own - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My Samsung Galaxy S5 has been restarting on its own since yesterday. I first tried to turn off my phone and when I press power off it instead restarts. I then decided to back up my important stuff and factory wipe the phone from the android operating system and clear the cache. Both of those things also didn't work. I then tried to adjust the battery a bit even putting a small piece of paper in the very thin gap to seal up any space and that also didn't work. The phone is still restarting randomly. I tapped on the power button assuming it might be stuck and it clearly isn't. A definite click and it feels comfortable. Going into safe mode on the phone also hasn't helped as the phone still restarts. I truly am stuck. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Jordan

A good thing to try is flash in odin the same firmware you are currently on you can check which firmware you are on by booting to recovery mode and check what it says there then download firmware from sammobile.Com
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I did flash my phone using Odin to the latest firmware for S5 6.0.1. Would this potentially be causing the issue? My phone was randomly restarting before I flashed it as well on my old firmware.

I did go ahead and re-flash the firmware that I installed and it has continued to do the same thing.

is your phone very hot when it restarts

After several restarts the phone does start to get pretty warm

So your phone is not rooted? No custom kernel?

If your not rooted then the next step is to have the latest firmware and flash it in odin but check these options In odin reparatition and nand erase and put a g900v pit file in the appropriate slot and leave what is checked by default checked also in odin
Then flash it will softbRick boot to recovery and wipe cache and data then boot to download mode and flash latest firmware with only default options checked it should boot and tell me if you still have an issue

This could be a damaged battery. My phone did this previously and changing to a brand new battery fixed it. Have you dropped your phone before or was it preowned?

My phone is encased in an Otter Box and I've maybe dropped it once or twice in a light fall. The battery still charges well and has no physical signs of wear. The phone is not preowned as I bought it new. Hauckk I will definitely want to try that. Thank you so much for your help so far everyone. I'll let you know the results of what I find.

Only question I have is could you re-explain this in a different way? I am just not understanding this part. :/ Sorry! Thanks again. Even a light drop can mess up your battery. I had an OtterBox and my phone feel from a bus seat to the floor of the bus and it was enough to mess up the battery internally, as mine had no physical signs of damage either. It's most likely either the connection inside the battery or your phone and not a software/firmware issue. Still, do what Hauckk is instructing you to do and if that fails it's definitely your battery or possibly the phone itself.
A translation of his instructions:
Check the nand erase and repartition options in Odin, these should be next to the slots to put files in. After that download a g900v pit file off the internet and hit the pit button that should be above AP/PDA depending on the version you are using. It will give you the option to choose a file, select the pit file you have downloaded.

The locations of the options described are circled

WhiteHawk I really do appreciate the fast responses. I'll let you know the results as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Jordan

My boyfriend put my battery in his phone and it crashed so I know for sure its the battery. Thank you both so much for the assistance. I really do appreciate this forum. You both are wonderful!

We switched batteries but the phone is now restarting when I choose power down. As far as I know, the phone is not restarting on its own anymore but the phone restarts instead when I chose the power off option. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Jordan

Phone just restarted on its own which means that it seems to still be performing the same problem as before with the suggestion to flash and put a pit file in. Any more help would be appreciated. Thanks

The phones battery is definitely one of the issues as it caused my boyfriends phone to shutdown and restart as well. However even with my boyfriend's battery in my phone, it still restarts. The phone freezes for a few seconds and then restarts.

You're welcome for the help!
If the phone is still restarting it could possibly be an issue with the internal connection to the battery port in the phone. You might need a replacement or repair.

Please Help I'm Stuck in Download Loop

I powered down my 7.7 and it automatically re-started in downloading mode. I've tried holding the power button down and that makes it disappear but then it comes back again. I recently did an OTA official upgrade to the firmware when it was offered and that might be causing the problem. It had worked fine for several days since I did the upgrade. My 7.7 was bought from Amazon UK.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how to fix it?
Thanks for your help

Here is an update of my previous post. I have contacted Amazon who are happy to send me a replacement on Monday but suggested that I phone Samsung technical support first to see if they can help. I was going to try replacing the official ROM using Odin but I don't have a suitable USB cable.
On my previous P1000 tablet I could use the charging lead to connect it to the laptop but on the 7.7 there is no USB connector. So my 7.7 is sitting with the green android and the message "Downloading" Do not switch off target. I've disconnected the power supply cable but it will probably take days for the battery to go flat. I should be able to get a USB cable tomorrow so that I can try connecting the 7.7 to my laptop.
Although holding the power button down for 10 seconds clears the downloading screen it re-appears almost immediately. I've tried pressing power+volume down and that shows a warning about installing custom ROMS, but when I select volume down to re-boot I just get back to the downloading screen. If I select volume up I also get the downloading screen and if I had a data cable then I could try re-flashing. This is one occasion where battery removal would be handy, but not an easy option with the 7.7.
Do you think it will harm the screen having the downloading screen on all the time? Also, do you think I should just return it to Amazon without trying to re-flash in case they accuse me of bricking it?
Update. My battery went flat overnight because of the stuck downloading screen and I was able to re-boot after re-charging. I'm going to keep the tablet on standby and avoid powering down until I get a USB cable which should allow me to re-flash the stock ROM if I get another problem.
Update: I received a USB data cable today so I tried shutting down the 7.7 and when I re-started it went into downloading mode again. I rang Samsung technical support and they said there was no need to shut down and that would avoid the problem and could not suggest any other solution. I felt the solution of never shutting down was not good enough so I re-flashed with LB3 and then tried KL3 but got the same problem each time
I would be most grateful for any help with this problem before I contact Amazon for a replacement.
Update: I have requested a return for my 7.7 and re-ordered. The good news is that the price has dropped £100, probably due to competition from the drop in the iPad2 price because of the iPad3 release.

Thanks for your response for I was beginning to think I was being boycotted. I am not very knowledgeable on these matters and I was hoping someone could help or at least explain why I still had the problem after re-flashing the latest and previous stock ROMS.
I have discovered that the downloading loop problem can be fixed by doing a factory reset but you need to re-flash the stock ROM first or let the battery go flat to get out of the download loop.
how?

well this is kind of fun... i manage the issue.... it seems that this tab have the unique program buttons in the on/off button and the volume button... result that if this problem happen to U u just have to press the power button and keep pressing the button while u continuously press the up volume button for several times until it reboot correctly... thanks god this works :fingers-crossed:  :victory::victory::victory:
I had a galaxy tab 2 with the similar problem and what i found out is that it had only one solution for getting back into system (beside battery drain, battery removal), that solution was to hold Val Up and Val Down simultaneously for a couple of seconds. With that combination the tab would reset and boot up correctly. So, this COULD be a solution for your problem too.

[Q]My phone will not boot, I keeps loop booting and won't get past the initial screen

Ok, I went to take a picture and it freaked the **** out. Now I rooted my phone when I got it, I have done nothing else other then Xposed modules and since it start acting up I've literally done nothing else. I only get the screen that says custom and then blah nothing else. I swapped battery (got another battery from samsung directly) and I have no idea wtf to do. Don't recommened ****ing flashing **** or whatever because I have everything stock. This should not happened. I wiped dalvik cache and cache and it was within recovery but my phone can't boot, I removed SD card, sim card and sometimes it'll boot be on for a couple minutes and bam same issue.... WHAT THE FLYING **** CAN I DO? I need this phone ASAP.... I'm this close to just tossing it over the edge and getting a new one.... it's a flying piece of **** and **** samsung!
You might have to start from scratch and determine if it's a hardware issue. Do you know what firmware you're on? Also back everything up because if you start from scratch, we'll that's the what you'll have.
Thanks, I managed to get it on again, made some calls uninstall some apps, but then it ****ing freaked out again. I have the firmware that was on when it was released. I got the first batch of 32gb's S4's haven't changed the firmware since... to prevent this type of ****. UGH! So after a phone call my phone just bleeped again and ****ed up. So I don't understand anything anymore.

So you used odin to flash mdl firmware?
I've done nothing in regards to flashing. I have not connected my phone to my computer. I've done nothing at all. other then keep trying to turn it on over and over again.

Well you might have to to see if it's a hardware issue. I would suggest flashing the firmware you're currently on through Odin
How am I supposed to do that if the phone just won't be recognized by anything? it's ****ing dead now. It shows me the Samsung Custom lock and logo and then nothing. I press the power button and nothing, I have to remove the batter and put it back in to see that screen.
Ok now it randomly is charging and now I can turn it on again, no problem, after I forcefully press the power button and some other random things... could I have an issue wiht my power button staying pressed? why would it do that? how can I fix this? I'm willing to open it up. I'm currently doing a backup in titanium backup and so far it seems ok. Recieved a phone call, phone is charging and everything is ok. how do I boot it into safe mode?

Thanks, I believe the cause was a stuck power button.

[Q] Galaxy S4 hardbrick

Hey,
This is my first time posting here and really using the site. I have the Sprint Galaxy S4 and just updated to the SlimKat official build 7 and had no initial problems. A day later it starts to reboot constantly and would stay on for a couple minutes. Now it is stuck in a bootloop and will shut off even when going into download or recovery mode. When plugged into a computer the computer won't even recognize the phone and the phone will not turn on. The only time the phone will even start to boot is when it is not plugged into wall/computer and on battery. I have no idea what to do now.
That's a tough one. Usually with a soft brick, if you can make it to recovery, your phone can be saved but since you can't... I hope you get it working!

Go to sprint galaxy s4 thread. All answers there. You need Odin 3.09 then stock ng2 tar. To flash through computer.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Free mobile app
I already have odin and the tar files for stock. When plugged into my computer it will not even register that it is connected and so I can't use odin to flash it.
The same thing is happening to me. I get to the Galaxy S4 splash screen, then it shuts off. Even if I try to boot into recovery
I'm going to pile on in here as I seem to be having a similar issue. I had my S4 (not rooted, stock rom) on my dock streaming google music. A phone call came in and the phone started vibrating like crazy and wouldn't stop. The screen shut off and the phone was still vibrating. Finally it stopped and was shut off. When I try to start it a few things happens. It will sometimes boot to my lock screen and the screen goes black and I think it is powered off. Sometimes it will get past the lock screen and then die shortly after. After like 2 or 3 times of that it won't even boot. It loads the Samsung screen but never gets to the Sprint screen or boots. If I leave it for some time shut off with battery out it will go back to booting to the lock screen then dying etc... When I press the buttons to get into recovery it says recovery is loading and then the screen goes black. I swapped batteries and that didn't do anything. I tried pressing the menu button or the home button to try and boot safe mode and it just loads normally not that I think that would help anyway.
Any ideas on things I can try next? What is this odin thing? Would that work for me?
---------- Post added at 07:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:16 PM ----------
Ok... I can get into recovery now and will try a factory reset. Are you sure you are going into recovery correctly. Apparently I was not. Hold volume up power and menu button and when the phone vibrates let go of power only.
Before I do a hard wipe is there any way to get data off the internal memory from recovery mode?
So I got a custom recovery installed, reinstalled stock rom, things worked ok for awhile. Then it started random reboots every 10 mins or so. Now it is back to instant crashing and rebooting. Any idea what could be the issue? I'm assuming at this point it is hardware related. Why can recovery and download mode run consistently without crashing but when an os is fired up it has issues? If it was a hardware issue shouldn't it not work across the board?
So I had Sprint replace my phone on the 8th. I have been using my same batteries (1 stock 1 Anker) and chargers (some stock some not) without issue the past 5 days. I rooted and installed xposed and some modules (original broken phone was never rooted and was completely stock). Things were going great until tonight when it started reboot looping exactly like the old phone. I switched battery and same proble. After I took the battery out and left it out awhile it fired back up but I'm afraid the problem will return. Is it possible that the battery or charger randomly are causing damage to the phone? I only have 14 day warranty on this replacement and need to figure this out.
So things were going well for awhile and then the reboot loops started up again. I did some digging and read that apparently Samsung phones are notorious for sticking power buttons and the symptoms were exactly what I was experiencing. I watched some videos online how to open the phone and clean out the power button but it didn't make a difference. I then read that squeezing the connector for the power button with a pair of pliers sometimes does the trick. Not for me. So finally since I'm not under warranty, have no insurance, and the phone wasn't working anyway, I just ripped the white plastic part of the power button right off. Well, that seemed to do the trick. Phone immediately fired back up without issue and has been going strong. I glued a small thin piece of plastic where the old one used to be and I am back in action. If my little plastic piece solution eventually fails or breaks off I will consider soldering on a new button but so far so good.
If you have tried everything else, and are looking for last resort, try cleaning the power button with some alcohol, and if that fails, rip off that power button! Here is the video that gave me the idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Glllc7bEJs and here are some other power button videos: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=s4%20power%20button&search_type=&aq=f&oq=

Galaxy S7 Edge died

Hello XDA comunity
I need you help. Something strange has happened to my device. Today I noticed that my S7E was freezing with garbeled pixels on the screen and reebooting by itself. I tried to go to the recovery and do a factory reset and the thing is, the device froze in it too! So I actually managed to boot into it and backup everything. After that, I did a factory reset and everything seemed fine. So I went into recovery to test out if the phone would repeat the same freeze, and after I entered, the phone turned off and didnt turn on again. So now It wont even give out any sign of life, not even with the charger. I tried the power + volume down but it wont turn on. So now I am stuck with a dead device :/
Can someone help me?
Regards
---------------SOLVED--------------
Going to Leave this here in case someone gets it too.
If for some reason your SGS7E is freezing with artifacts on its screen and then reebooting, you have a corrupted firmware. If for some reason, it shuts off and dosent turn off, or it wont respond to the power + volume down combo, check if it feels warm to the touch (not warm like 40º ou 30º more like, warm for your surroundings) if it does, that means that somehow it got stuck and wont power off. Just wait for it to drain completly and try again.
Go to SAMSUNG STORE / SERVICES REPAIRS ; ))

Have you tried leave the phone on it's original charger
for at least an hour or more and then see if you can
get into either download mode or recovery?
I have seen many phones which have very similar
problems like your phone has and charging for at
least an hour on it's original battery charger will
usually allow booting into either recovery mode
and or into download mode.
If your phone can be booted into recovery or download
mode after charging and still has problems then simply
download the official samsung S7 Edge Nougat 7 or
Marshmallow 6.02 firmware and flash it with Odin3,
doing that will get your phone working properly just like
when you first purchased it.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

As one mentioned above: in that case: no boot, no Recovery, you have only one option, and the procedure is:
1. Pack your phone carefully, preventing it from further damage;
2. Using your laptop/tablet, PC, go online;
3. Open search engine, in search field place your town and "Samsung repair centre" then push enter
4. Remember the address and deliver your phone there. It may be handy to give them a call first
Sadly, this is only one option you have now.
Another Update
So after geting frustrated and wanting to trow the smartphone to a wall, to my surprise, I felt that the device was warm to the touch and decided to put it on its box while I went to sleep. I've just woken up and decided to try it, and it went stright up to the download mode. A few secounds later it turned itself off again, but I decided to insist and I managed to do it again while I connected it to the computer. I managed then to flash an original nougat firmware to it. After that I could finally turn the device on. So I'm just charging it right now so I can turn it on again and see if it can boot. I suspect that in some way, my firmware got corrupted.
TLDR: If your device feels a bit warm, just let it drain the rest of the battery and resist the urge to do the damn power reset and try again.
UPTADE 2: YAY It worked! Its Working!

The thing is, it has only started doing this yesterday. Up until now it was fine. But thanks for the warning, I will be carefull with it, and, if it keeps doing this I will take it to samsung.
Dead Phone and no life at all
Im suffering the same damn problem with my 4 month old S7 edge.
Im in the UK but i bought the phone brand new boxed from Dubai, it is the international sm-g935f.
Box was sealed and brand new and bought from a major official retailer, i actually bought 2, one for me and one for wife, her one has been perfectly fine.
Long story short, last few months starting getting the screen freeze with blurred pixels, screen would stay frozen exactly as it was and then eventually phone would black screen and tried to reboot...
blue notification light would constantly stay on and it would NOT turn on and just loop with the s7 edge powered by Android logo unless i did vol+power down a few times, it would then turn on and proceeed to the flashing samsung logo before it would load up...
problem got worse by worse day by day,
i did everything from full wipe and factory restore etc safe mode etc, but it kept doing this and got worst over last few days...
now i could never get it start unless i actually tired the hard reboot power + vol down about 5 or 6 times and failing that i would try recovery mode then hard reboot again,
once turned on would be slow and laggy and glitchy at first then slowly get back up to speed and work again, only to die at some point or other when i would go to use it, unused it would stay on all day and recieve calls etc.
but last night i think i got the black screen of death... black screen with blue notification light soild blue and permanently on, no matter what i tried i could not shake the blue light, i got the s7 edge logo a few times before finally absolutely nothing,
light stayed on for about 5 to 6 hours i thought just to let the battery die.
this morning its all dead, no light no power no nothing. no matter what i try and any combination of keys i cant get it to even flinch, put charger cable on and nothing, no lights, no power or boot combination works
Have spoke to samsung here in UK, they say its under warranty but they wont touch it with a barge pole as Samsung EU Europe warranty only covers handsets bought in the UK or europe and this is a an international middle east handset according to serial and imei number and that for me to make a claim it needs to go back to retailer in Dubai and make claim with Samsung warranty there..
I was hoping it was just a software issue and thus have put up with it for so long as i have no way of sending it back to Dubai,
Does anyone know how i can just get it back up to life again, just to get my messages, some photos and media from it and possibly delete my google account on it as all whatsapp and insta and snapchat etc wud still be running on it if somehow i could get it to Dubai, as i had not password or pin protected it at all, its all open, so if someone did power it up, they wud have easy access to full contents
any help or any guidance would be so much appreciated, as im just sitting with a £450 brick at the moment and its very disheartening that usually an expert with samsungs just cant get this to work.
Im appalled at Samsungs attitude here in the UK, that the latest S7 edge flagship model is dying like this and many others round the world too, so its a common problem and they wont help at all, i mean u would think they would cover the warranty internationally as people travel all over world with thier phones and its the exact same handset they are selling at their official Samsung stores in the all the Dubai malls, in Duty free airport etc, its absolutely appalling, having been a samsung pro person from the first galaxy s phones, and owning and spending a large chunk of my money over last 10 years on samsung products in my household and family and friends and endorsing them wherever i go, its the first time i feel ever so let down by them.
hi guys.....
did anyone have a read of my post?
any help or ideas guys?
update....left it plugged in to see if it would charge....but still nothing, no warm up feel or doesn't even look like its taking any charge.
so how long should it leave it unplugged to see if maybe it needs completely draining?
still cant get it to power using any key combination at all

I left mine over two hours off charge. Same simptoms. I guess it depends on the amount of charge left

Hello friend
I know that feeling. I had the same feeling after I saw my phone going dead on me. Well, this will sound crazy but, for now just leave it on your desk over a night, dont try to charge it, dont try to reset it, just leave it for at least 12 hours. My phone died like that, it started to loop each time I got the artifacts on the screen. Worse, it even did the same on the recovery menu. I bought mine with dubai firmware. The only diferent thing I did, was to flash 7.0 BTU rom directly on it since I live in portugal and the phone had a ton of apps that were in arabic. I used odin to flash it and for a week or so, the device worked flawless, only missing some important apps from the system wich I found to be odd. Now, for the good news, after hours of research at the time I actually learned that samsung build in a switch in case of inconsistent booting or kernel panic errors, that make your phone simply turn off to avoid a battery explosion (Like the note 7). This means that the phone wont charge or turn on if this switch is on. So I felt that my phone was not hot, but just warm to the touch when everything arout it was at 2º celcius. That meant that it was stuck with the screen turned off. I just let it sit for 2 hours while I took a nap and after that, I actually didnt use the charger right away, I tried the download mode key combo and it turned on. But since it was without battery, it turned of instantly. So I tried again and after it went straight to download mode, I connected to the computer and flashed the 7.0 btu firmware again. After this ordeal, I actually learned that the first flash actually didnt install a ton of system apps or functions that in turn, made the cellphone freeze. You can flash an original firmware in your phone, it wont brake the warraty or touch the knox 0x0 warranty.
There is a high chance that when you update or flash the firmware, something can go wrong (in my case it was a corrupted firmware doing to the internet connection). This will be the same with OTA's I guess. So dont despair, just let it sit for a while and tri again after that. With no battery the device will turn the switch off and you can use it afterwards again. The faul its at the software.

I debranded from dubai firmware to android 7.0 UK BTU ROM. I redownloaded and flashed again when I got the chance to do it, and so far I have 0 problems with freezes or artifacts. Check if the firmware is properly downloaded before doing anything to avoid a stuck screen of death that may take a long time to discharge the battery.

Any way i can get it to turn on or somehow power back up again?
Any manual or computer way?
Have tried charging it and then leaving it for few days and then tried powering back up, but still nothing.
Usually when it used to freeze and black screen trying the power and vol down a few times would re boot it...
But right now it just seems like its died for good...
Please help anyone?

Yes i would love to be able to flash it again or even wipe/factory data reset... Im very familiar on how to to that using stock roms or custom roms, but I can't even get it into download mode...
If I could just get it to power and into download or recovery mode then I would at least be able to do something with it.
But it seems your right like it is stuck on the black screen.
I left it in charge last night...
So now im. Thinking just to leave it without charging at all again...
But how long to wait till I know if it's properly battery dead and discharged?
If I do that then surely if battery is completely drained and discharged then it wont even have enough power to go into download or recovery mode?
Then do I attempt to try charge it again?
Risk is not knowing how or when of the battery is will be completely dead...
If it is stuck/frozen in black screen then charging it again will just prolong it again?
Uurrggghh its driving me crazy

In my opinion, you sould get a kill-a-watt to plug into a wall plug and to the charger to see the voltage thats going trough. If its 1,4v then the device is turned on but with a black screen (At least thats what it was showing to me, and its 1,4 because is just suppling energy, not charging).
The time it takes to discharge depens on why is stuck on that black screen. Mine was stuck at the recovery screen and took like 2 hours to discharge completly.
Unfortunally I'm having artifacts again :/ so this time I will downgrade my phone to 6.0.1. The simptoms I have when it does this, are overheating and extreme lag whithout doing nothing. Another suspicion I have is, it seems that the device does this when it wakes up.
I will take it directly to sammy next week anyway for them to analise it. Will report back asap. Meawhile I will test out other stuff too see what can be causing this.
Should I just talk to Samsung in Dubai?
And im thinking that possibly just send it back to them directly and let them deal with it under warranty?
I'm wondering if they will even let me do this?
I have the original receipt or both the phones from where it was bought in dubai.
The worst thing is the phone is only 4 months old when I bought it brand new and the one I bought for my wife is fine...
Her one is running a absolutely perfect and all latest updates etc, never ever crashed or ever frozen once, and she does a lot of photo and video editing on Instagram as a food blogger so her photo and video apps really push the phone.

Well, like someone said a few posts above, it seems that there are some units that have a sort of defect in the motherboard related to power states. I suspect that I have the same defect on my device. Samsung has a global warranty http://www.samsung.com/sec/support/guarantee/InternationalWarranty/ so I dont know if this could help you. I'm lucky in that department since the company that sold it to me aquired it from dubai but the reciept is from my country so I can solve this problem here.
As a last resort you should sent it to dubai since its worth the money IMHO

That global warranty is only for Laptops, trust me I know from previous experience and it was excellent how they replaced and fixed my laptop even when i was abroad and once they sent me out a new battery whilst I was abroad to my hotel address.
butthey do not do global or international warranty on mobile phones.
The phone has to go back to samsung repair centre in the country of origin of the phone and they can tell just from the serial number.
So UK/Europe handsets can be repaired under warranty in country in Europe at samsung repair centres but they wont touch non UK/EU handsets. My Dubai/Gulf S7 edge can go back to any repair centre in gulf states or country.
Its ridiculous really as the phone is exact same hardware and even same model number as uk/eu S7 edge SM-G935F with the only difference being the regional stock firmwares.
I just laughed at the UK repair centre customer sevices guy as tried to convince me that the phones were different because they carried different software..... And thats why they cant touch a dubai phone as it according to him setup differently, just couldnt be bothered to argue or explain to him that I could make a uk phone look exactly like a dubai phone with the flashing of the correct regional firmware.
---------- Post added at 06:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:49 PM ----------
If I could just get the damn phone to power up im any mode again im sure incould try and fix it again with the proper latest 7.0 nougat stock firmware...
But i am suspecting like many others and lots of samsung warranty repairs being done here UK/USA and abroad all over the world that some particular version of these handsets definite motherboard problem and all being replaced by samsung under warranty and problems fixed after motherboard replacement....
Arrggghhh
Teaches me right for going for the titanium silver model...
Lol i should have just got the same as my wife and bought 2 gold handsets.... She wanted the gold and i wanted to have a different one to hers and preferred the silver...
So now another headache....
How the hell do i send this back to Samsung in dubai and havr them return ot back to me without facing any customs and duty tax issues in dubai, and also if and when they send the phone back here in UK i think I will face customs and duty tax issues here again.
Anyone know any info about this?

[Q] Galaxy S4 just died out of nowhere?

So, long story short, my GS4 just froze up and shut off on me this morning while checking out Facebook on the phone, and now it won't turn on no matter what I do.
Removing the battery and holding the power button for a few minutes partly resolves my issue, as I am then able to actually power on the phone, but then it just gets stuck on the GS4 logo and doesn't boot into the actual system. I was also able to get into Download mode at one point, but I wasn't sure about flashing new firmware from there since my phone is rooted and has a custom recovery installed, and maybe that will interfere with the installation.
Anybody got some input on this? I am kinda freaking out here, would really love it if I could fix this thing without taking it to an overpriced shop, who maybe wouldn't even accept it due to it's 'modified firmware'.

if it boot into recovery, factory reset your phone and wipe cache, it's a painful solution but it's functional.., I've had the same issue on another Samsung phone and that fixed it, also I don't think flashing stock rom would interfere with anything, you can try that as well.
