Recovering and wiping out data from apparently soft bricked Xperia M5 - Sony Cross-Device General

My Xperia M5 which was on Android 6 was on charging when this happened. When I removed the phone from the charger and tried to power on (as I remember the phone had around 60% of battery remaining and it had been switched on when I plug it to the charger; however the device had been powered off when I unplugged it from the charger), it showed me the Sony logo and after that some startup screen. Then it was all black. Phone was switched off automatically. I tried switching it on again and couldn't.
After a while I tried switching it on again and the same thing happened. Then I kept the device aside for couple of days and tried switching it on again. Nothing happened this time. Then I plugged that into the charger and it showed me the icon of charging. It started from 0% and went on to 100%. After that, I tried to switched it on again. The same thing happened, but this time, couple of iterations. But it was not a boot loop. I had manually switch the phone.
However, non of the attempts switched on the phone for me. I plugged the phone back to the charger and this time it did not show me the charging icon. But the red LED was switched on and it kept the color red all along. If the device was charging properly, the LED should gradually go to color green. But it did not. I cannot even power on to see the previously seen startup screen. But if I keep the phone away for couple of days to completely drain the battery out, i will be able to see the charging icon with a successful charging process again.
What I need to know is, what has happened to my device. Is it soft bricked or hard bricked?
To be honest, I can give it to the shop for the repair since I am still on warranty period. But I need to recover my data and completely wipe them out from the internal memory. I tried connecting it to the computer. but computer cant recognize it. But I hear the sound of new usb connection. It is like a loop. I hear it, then a silence for a while, and again I hear it. But nothing on screen of the phone or the computer.
One thing to mention is that, the device was once recognized by Yodot tool for android recovery when the device was charging successfully(As I mentioned previously). I scanned the device and the tool went through all the steps until the last step of recovery. In fact I did not have license for the tool.
What Can I do to recover my data?
And also I need to wipe off the internal memory too.

Did u do a hard reboot? Plug in charger while hard rebooting.
Another method is use Flashtool and flash the ROM again without wiping data.

Flashing a ROM will avoid my warranty. Isn't it? I tried a tool called Yodot android recovery for data recovery. I think it found the data in the memory, but it does not allow me to retrieve data with out license. Is there any other tool which can help me in this case.? I have a concern about the warranty too.

U must be a noob. The first that says flashing a stock rom void warranty. It doesn't and if u do not know how to, it's better to send to the service centre.

I thought that flashing a rom is going to void the warranty. I know how to flash a rom, but never have flashed a one to a xperia device. Is the Flashtool the official one for xperia devices?

Have you tried to hard power off, "vol+ & power button"? I've had to do that this morning after switching my phone off yesterday to charge it, gone to switch it on this morning and nothing happened when I pressed the power button, I tried vol+ & power button and it vibrated a few times, tried the power button again and it switched back on. Try that or repairing your phone with official tools - http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/xperia-companion/ - http://developer.sonymobile.com/open-devices/flash-tool/

Now I am going to Flash the rom. But the concern is if I do not have enough battery, it will hard brick my device while flashing. I cannot check my battery percentage sine I don't have any way of checking that.
How can I check for my battery pls?

hold power down for 20 seconds. let phone sit for 1 minute. now hold power and volume down. this should bring you to a white reset screen. press power 3 times.

i tried that and nothing happened.
When you plug in USB does charge light come on. Sounds like a battery went dead.
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
I've heard some people are having issues with the charge port and/or cord also. Maybe try another cord and make sure it's plugging in tightly? I think the last person covered everything else.

I had the same problem, it occured while switching from cwm to twrp. i used the unbuntu method ( i think you mean this right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142)
are you sure you were in fastboot mode? because i wasnt and it should say so in the top left corner if you were.
try different cords/ usb ports or even pc's to charge it. my mac couldn't find it at all, my windows did.

For me the brick happened when i was flashing KK with TWRP, during the flashing appears something that said "couldn't not mount system" and the phone shut down and never power up again , no usb no charge, no linux, no nothing, when i plug my device in windows appears that the devices cannot install the drivers, and i've tried all the drivers and still doesn't work
Hold power down until phone is completely off. Then, hold power and down volume until you see LG logo. As soon as you see the LG logo, release and then quickly press power and down again. Hold until you see a white screen. Then go from there.

i've tried everything, download mode, linux, recovery, lg mobile, and nothing works i think it's completly brick, i hope one day someone comes with the solution, because i went today to SAT and they don't even know what happened with my phone, and i bought it in another country so they don't want to get involve
So all you get is a black screen with you boot? There's probably a way to push whatever file might be missing or even an entire ROM but I lack the knowledge on how to do that. I remember I had to work some magic on my Galaxy Nexus but I used a toolkit so I'm afraid I've got no really useful information for you.
This also happened to me!
I am in the same state.
I rooted the LG, I installed the custom Rom, I installed an updated GAPPS and it wasnt working. I then went and installed another GAPPS overtop and I got stuck in boot loop. After I tried recovery from ADB I tried to restore from TRWP and it didnt take. After I rebooted nothing turned on, no LED, I tried ALL button combinations and nothing comes on at all. I am wondering if the phone died and now will not charge...I started with 60% but the last time i saw it it was down to 15% just thinking maybe it died completely and without any software to boot it wont charge...I have had it on charge for 8 hrs since and still nothing...
Please help!

Phone boots to blue screen

My G2 suddenly just stopped working yesterday. When I try to power it on the phone either freezes shortly after the boot screen, gets to the homescreen then shuts off, or boots to an all blue screen. I can access TWRP but haven't been able to fix it with anything I've found. My pc isn't recognizing the phone so don't know if I can flash another rom. Also tried factory reset with no luck. Any help please this is driving me crazy!!!
The same thing just happened to me! Someone please help us! IS there a solution to this?

Ok, since there is little to no information out there I thought I would share how I created and fixed this problem.
I received a new phone under warranty because of a failing sim card reader. Naturally, the first thing I did once I received it was root it. Next, I thought I would be slick and use flashify to flash a custom recovery (TWRP). Little did I know, with the new version of Android, our phones have a locked bootloader. I freaked out when I saw some weird error messages about it and tried to power off the device in the middle of it booting. BIG MISTAKE. In hindsight, I am assuming that it was re-flashing the factory recovery when I powered it off.
It gave me a solid blue screen for two hours, unless I held the power button for 10 seconds, which would just repeat the process from black screen to solid blue screen repeatedly. I tried to reboot into recovery for 2 hours by holding volume down and power. 2 HOURS!
At that point, I realized that I may have some luck getting it into download mode by powering it off, then powering it on with volume up and power and plugging in a USB cable. VOILA! It booted up normally (somehow) and I got it running the OS.
After that, I made sure that I did a factory reset by reverting to stock using the LG Software Upgrade tool.
The moral of this story is, if you are going to try to install a custom recovery on 4.4.2, make sure you know what you're doing. It turns out an app called AutoRec did the trick for me.

I didn't get the blue screen but I kept getting the security error screen on my d802. To turn it off, I kept holding down the power button for about 10 seconds after the screen went blank. This caused the phone to remain powered off. After that, I was able to boot into download mode. Maybe this method will work for your phone.

Don't know of any other methods because holding down the power button got the phone to turn off and allow me to get into download mode. From download mode, I was able to restore a stock 5.01 ROM to my phone via LG Mobile Support Tools.
LG G2 Bluescreen then no boot after disconnecting battery
Found my LG G2 with a completely blue screen. It would not turn off. Took it apart and disconnected the battery. Reconnected the battery and there was only a blank black screen and the phone would not boot. Zilch. Even with pressing the power button with the volume down to boot into recovery.....still zilch.
I sucessfully got my phone to work again using a hair dryer trick on an LG G3, which I found here.
1. I took the back off the phone, disconnected the battery, and removed the SIM card.
2. I then used a hairdryer on high heat and blew the heat over the uncovered areas for 10 minutes.
3. I let the phone from hot to warm, reconnected the battery and put it all back together with the SIM card replaced.
4. I booted into recovery and restored a TWRP backup, and my LG G2 is working like a champ again.

HELP!!! Note 3 doesn't turn on

My Note 3 is dead. I was flashing various ROMs, all seemed OK.
I booted into Phorensis 5, which I already used several times, with data+system+cache on f2fs.
On reboot, I got a message saying that data partition is corrupted. I rebooted the phone into recovery, TWRP (2.8.7.0),
and the TWRP screen came up, and then the screen went dead.
From that point on, I see no response from the phone. Power button long press does nothing, short press nothing, inserting power cable does nothing, powre+vol up+home does nothing, power+vol down+home nothing. No LED,
taking out battery doesn't help, trying to boot just with USB cable also doesn't.
nothing at all....

That would be good! (I mean as opposed to the whole phone...)
I'm not sure. I left it to charge for a long time, but nothing changed. Could the battery just totally died from one moment to the next (I mean without emitting smoke)? I don't know how/what to check. Does the phone
normally do anything when the battery is not in the phone, but the charger is connected?

I think you are right... I tested the battery with a voltmeter, and there is no voltage. Totally dead.
Yep, and I tested for a second with a battery from an S3 mini, and the phone powers up.
Hmmm... it was something more complicated than that.
It seems that the phone got to a stage where TWRP 2.8.7 does not boot any more. And, it also could not charge the battery.
Then it somehow did something to the battery (drain? I'm not sure... bat seemed dead, but eventually suddenly did have 62%..)
After doing various things that would definitely void my non-existant warranty,
(involving charging the battery from a USB cable, and running the phone on the S3 battery)
I managed to get the phone into download mode and flashed TWRP with odin.
TWRP 3.0.2 does boot, but 2.8.7 does not, even after I flashed it again from a new download.
I'm not sure how that can happen... recovery is supposed to be independent of the phone state, isn't that the whole point?
So, now battery is full again, phone does boot and flash and respond.... Thank you!!
Go to your local Samsung dealership
Now all seems to work well. There was a problem with the filesystems on data/system/cache - some where f2fs, some ext4.
Once I managed to install a new ROM using TWRP 3.0.2, I could finally iinstall 2.8.7, and now things are as they were before.

Hardbricked stuck on "Your device has been unlocked" and blinking red light

Hey guys i really need your help, i decided to unlock the bootloader of my phone, and so i did without any issue, the phone opened and worked completly, so i wanted to relock it and so i did also without any issue, but i wanted root again so i tried to unlock it again with the same Code with the official unlocking way, but this time the phone have been stuck and red led notification blinking everytime i put in on computer.
If i plug off the power source and try to open the device the red light blink very fast and there is a charging symbol on the screen but then dissapers instantly and nothing the phone turning off.
I cannot enter on recovery or dload, anyone knows what to do? The PC cant recognize the phone if i plug it.
Here some video to check the issue, please turn on the subtitles because im speaking Greek https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTkx0ifNhg4
Also here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9dS76eRe0c
Huawei is one of the worst companies i ever saw! Their phones are so easy to brick and they can't be fixed!
Wait until the battery drained and phone shutdown, connect charger again and wait for 5 minutes , it will turn on in erecovery , shutdown and redo fastboot etc carefully.

Dissconnect the usb cable and hold the power button. When it is just about to reboot, plug in the USB and hold the volume down button. This should take you to fastboot OR to error mode...

Huawei devices aren't easy to brick, but recovering the devices is a pain... I hard bricked my device as well a couple weeks ago..
I have tried to wait for the battery drained completly and if you plug the usb while the phone is off the phone is powering on automatically and stays to the "Your Device has been unlocked"
Also with the same method before i plug in the usb i was trying to hold the volume down button and plug it in but it didnt happend it is booting on the same thing.

pls clear actual screen position of ur fone, unlock screen titled as fastboot and rescue or yellow text with black background.
chances are there u get fastboot connection by turning off mobile by power button hold for 7 seconds and phone turned off wait for a while ensure no USB cable connected to phone. then press volume down button and conect USB cable, you will see fast boot and rescue screen. now issue command fastboot devices. if u see ur devices serial number there then follow further fasboot procedure mentioned in other threads,
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system.img
above files may be obtained by extracting update.app for ur phone stock image by huawei extractor. you have to work for 2 days constantly for unbricking phone. I have gone through all these processes last week.

Hi, I have a similar problem: "your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted". I cannot enter fastboot nor with the two buttons method (power + volume down) or the three buttons method. I messed up with the EMUI, I guess. Infact, I unlocked the bootloader, relocked it and tried to unlock it again to flash a custom ROM. The first time I unlocked the bootloader, I tried to install TWRP but something went bad, I do not remember what, but I decided to relock.
Now I am stuck with this message. But....sometimes, I can't understand WHEN, I can enter my phone Last time it was when I tried the above solution (only volume down and usb cable, without the Power button). When the phone turned on, HiSuite recognized "a phone" was connected because the software turned on, but it couldn't really see it. I went into the Developer Options on the phone to turn on OEM, but it was grey and I could do nothing :crying:
Full of hope because the phone turned on, I then tried to flash the content of the SD Card (where I put files extracted with the Huawei Update Extractor) by holding the three buttons (power + volume up + volume down), but again it appeared the "your device has been unlocked" message.
Now the phone is off. Once, in the meantime, it appeared a red flash on the screen for one second, I am not sure it is related to the battery, it doesn't display a battery but only a flash.
I cannot enter fastboot in any way, I cannot flash from SD card, sure I cannot rollback because it implies flashing.
My only hope is some command to be given when I can enter the phone. Anyway, I sent it to repair (not official, I have obviously no guarantee anymore) and they sent it back to me: they didn't know what to do.
Any idea? Thanks a lot!
PS: I will read your replies as soon as I can but I have very variable ad unstable working hours!
Please don't blame Huawei for YOUR mistakes. Thank you

Huawei is one of the worst companies i ever saw! Their phones are so easy to brick and they can't be fixed!

I think the red light blinks cause you are critically low on power. Leave it plugged in. Ignore whats on the screen just leave it plugged in for a few hours and leave it alone.

Same here with a BLN-L21 (Honor 6x)
The phone will not charge with this method. Try to let it plug one night, and no charge !
@Meticulus this was the question felix ask you: is uboot (booting with sdcard) is possible ?
Fixed for me with buy an honor 9 ... but investigate to revive my honor 6x.
For now i have maybe found how to shutdown phone, to charge battery (with shurtcut two point in motherboard) but don't know if phone charge for the moment because there is no light
Solution for the moment but difficult AND / OR expensive ....
1. Remove emmc and repair it with a JTAG box.
2. Try to boot with uboot (but probably won't work)

Hello, can ask you some question about how you have hardbricked this phone ?
My honor 6x is same bricked, and red light too. So the big question is THE FIRSTIME BRICK = phone was FREEZE can't reboot and can't do nothing. I have wait for empty battery, and now dload and all is not working ?
I will try to charge my battery out of phone. For me it's like the phone never charge ... but i will try with a charged battery and plug unplug battery connector. It's like red screen low battery change boot mode ...

Its not actually mine and it was long time ago, but the owner told me that he unlocked bootloader with the official way, relocked, and then he unlocked again the third time the phone died.
Hello.
me too, he does not want to do anything anymore.
he only knows this '' your device is booting now '' screen with the red LED flashing.
whatever I do, it always starts on this screen. I think you have to change the motherboard.
Do you know where to find it at a reasonable price?

I fixed mine today. I just had to wait for 5 hours for the battery to drain. then when it shuts off i waited 10 min. after that i started the phone and i let me choose to continue to the phone.
I dunno if you have the exact same problem but thats how i fixed mine.
And after that i tried factory resetting (cause bluetooth and NFC didn't work) but then it got stuck again. so i waited it out and it worked once again.
Too scared to do anything to my phone now :/

now my battery is empty but when i plug in acc cable show same screen
any fix on this as I have the same issue with huawei p9 lite - no recovery mode, no usb reckognition from pc. Just stuck on that "unsafe" prompt screen after huawei logo
Stop buying huawei phones if you are into custom roms or root. They made the phone easily brickable and they removed the bootloader unlock site due to some stores installing malware into phones. But hey, they couldn't simply do what Xiaomi is doing eh?

[Solved] Cannot use battery power on recovery and system

So, here's my situation, my phone suddenly turned off last night while installing a game, when i tried to power it up, it "blinking" on the boot logo, it keeps turned on and off, so i reckon its battery has run out, so i charge it, then it works, it can boot to system, after it shows around 80% i unplugged the charger but the phone then suddenly turned off and again, blinking on the boot logo.. so i charge it again just to see it boot to system and shows 80% battery.. i tried to charge it to 100%, but at 100%, the phone suddenly died, again..
at first i thought it might be a battery problem, or power circuit thingy, but here's the catch, it can hold for 30 mins + on bootloader mode..
can someone tell me what is wrong with my phone?
EDIT: flashed stock ROM and Recovery, still no use
EDIT2: Did the QPST as suggested as Rwepradeep, still blinking on lenovo logo
EDIT3: Solved! Battery was the actual problem

okay so i did the qpst thing, it can hold on at download mode until it finished, then after that the phone reboots, and it happened again...
i don't get this phone, it works well on bootloader and download mode, but not so long at recovery.. not to mention i can't even boot into system (can't even past the boot logo lol)
Okay so, i took it to Lenovo Service Center, they told me something wrong with the battery, apparently it hold up on bootloader because the bootloader mode didn't took so much power, so even a broken battery should hold up a little.. Changed the battery, now it works well, thanks for all the help..
