keeping unpaid themes from samsung after latetest update???? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

right now I am on the APCG firmware and I use the package disabler pro app to get the unpaid themes to stick. I was wondering if this method works on the AP14 firmware. I cant seem to find an answer being that all the threads with the package disabler pro app method haven't been posted in since august. NOTE: I'm not trying to steal any themes being that the theme I use isn't for purchase(trial only).

no input???

Doesn't work anymore

You have to clear data for each package you disable. It should still work. If you reboot you have to do it all over again

Since latest uldate you can clear cache but cant clear data no more. Really sucks.

I'm not rooted, probably the first device that I haven't rooted actually. Just seems like to many cons vs pros plus I don't have the time to figure out tweaks for the kernel.

the firmware I'm on now (APG1) if I reboot, I have to remember clear the data and cache via package disabler pro and it sticks. Which I'm ok with but I did know if that method still worked on the latest formware. I keep reading mixed results. That's why I am looking for some conformation from someone who gets the times to stick on the latest software. I like the batman theme which is unavailable or purchase otherwise I would just buy it.

I already have the .apk. the issue is when you apply it, it's treated like a paid theme, I'm currently using it but I have the next update blocked because I fear I won't be able to continue using it hence this thread

SDP is pretty much useless now. I'd switch to EZ Disabler Pro and or the windows app from the link below.
Be very careful not to disable/freeze to much stuff this way if you find the apk route not working for you (just ota update packages and theme store if I were you) otherwise you could soft-brick your phone. Use EZ package disabler for everything else and don't forget to wipe the application's cache/data. EZ has option to clear all disabled packages (even those the app has hidden) and a lot of other features btw!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294

If you use those themes with the latest update it will cause serious issues with almost anything potentially.

If your rooted, use a file explorer and go into device/system/priv apps or apps i forget and click on the theme store apk folder and in the folder after the theme center write.bak example themecenterapk.bak and reboot. Do that for both theme store apks.

If u r rooted then there is a permanent way of doing it without disabling anything. PM if u wanna knw.

Market fix for Insufficient Space Error

When trying to download apps off the android market i got the error "Insufficient Space" even thought i had over 250mb internal and 3GB external.
I have tried all the guides to get this working, from force closing market and clearing data/cache etc to using the adb command method to move it to SD Card but nothing worked.
I came accross a FREE app on the android market. I simply installed and ran the app and pressed the button. Then tried the market again and it fixed the error!
CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE APP
I did not create this app, i simply want to share it with others because i know it was a complete pain. Make sure you give the app good feedback in the market.
I get that error a lot... Will try the app
Sent from my Xperia Play
let me know how it goes. i literally tried everything and it is soo much hassle.
If you cant even download this app let me know and i will put the APK on dropbox for you.
Its so simple. press one button and a second later you can download any apps from the market.
Worked on Desire with MIUI.us 2.3.2
The irony! Got the error whilst trying to download this app. I'm unrooted anyways though

Thanks. But requires ROOT access.

Thanks for posting this... I had to wipe and reflash CM7 several time over the last week because this kept happening to me. I think this fixed it. YAY!!!!!
easier way: clear cache in clockworkmod, you cache is full and so the app cannot be downloaded to the cache...
Great thanks !!
wow thanks dude.
this is very helpful, and it WORKS. GREAT JOB !!
Doesn't work!
Is there something similar for non-root access?

I am un-rooted on 2.3.3 and I get around this by uninstalling updates on the Google Play Store App [defaults back to the original store with the green icon]. The App will automatically update again over time to the modern Play Store, but you can just repeat the process when you want to update something.
it solved my problem. thank you very much

Removing Sfinder quick connect

I've searched about it and tried to remove using some advice from here but it didn't work. My phone is rooted and I went to file Explorer.. System.. App and deleted all quick connect files. It's greed out now but still there and I couldn't find files for s finder
You must install Xposed Framework and install G-Touchwiz module to get rid of those
?
Any option without Xposed?

You didn't search very hard if you didn't find the existing threads that discuss this. Nor did you link us to the thread that you talked about.
/system/priv-app/SFinder.apk
Note that you would also need to modify SystemUI.apk to totally remove Sfinder. Possibly you might be able to transplant a modified SystemUI.apk from a S5 custom ROM that has already removed Sfinder.
.
This is a good place to start modding yourself. Just decompile, find the sfinder and quick connect lines in statusbar expanded xml and add android:visibility = "gone"

Google Assistant working on our dear Shamu

Hey guys good news just tested Google assistant working on my nexus 6 running custom 7.0, here's what you need to do,
Add this line to build.prop
ro.opa.eligible_device=true
And product model to Pixel and also you must have the latest Google app version and voila
So for guys still having crashes ill tell what you've to do
1- rooted Nexus 6 running stock or custom 7.0 with root Explorer
2- Google app 6.6.14.21.arm with pixel launcher installed
3- go to root Explorer and edit the build.prop as mentioned above, for our device it is necessary that you also edit product model to Pixel
4-reboot your phone
5-wipe data from Google app
6-press long home button, assistant should work now
7-ok Google detection from any screen is broken atm
8-if you want ok Google inside assistant, uninstall Google app updates and in previous Google app version go to voice and record your voice 3 times, this would make ok Google work inside assistant not from home screen or any other screen
9-press thanks if I helped
What is Pixel product name? just "pixel"?
Yeah

It works on my Nexus 6 by long pressing the home button.
But .......... I made the pesky Google search bar transparent and removed the Google logo.
The search bar is there but not visible.
Now it is white again - ugly.

Thanks for replying. That was the behavior I was seeing as well. I'm Google app version 6.6.14.21.arm. Running Stock Nougat - Rooted. I've reverted the build.prop changes for the time being.
I thought it was maybe the storage permission not being granted, but I allowed it and the issue still persisted.
I'm unable to grab any logcats due to some logcat read error.

How can I remove carrier installed apps on S8 - Rogers Canada

Hello
I want to uninstall and remove and spotify app which came pre-installed with the phone. I am using S8 on Rogers network in Canada. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Have you tried disabling the apps you don't need? If you haven't, then long press on the shortcut and pick "app info". There you will find disable button(if not grayed out). That is the easiest way off turning off the app which won't show in your apps anymore, but it won't uninstall it.

Go to apps then click Spotify then click storage then clear data and cache.
If you want to remove the pre installed version you need to be rooted to remove system apps.
The all you have will be the same as the one pre installed. You can always download an updated version.

Not if its a hacked version of Spotify.
I see no reason why someone would disable the included Spotify app to load "their own version"
The included app can be updated right from the google play store, so there is no reason someone should be uninstalling it to install a .apk version.
I am on a Rogers S8, so I know this is true.

Check out this XDA article. It details instructions to remove apps/packages without root, using ADB. Be super careful doing this or using a package disabler app Like BK Package Disabler or Adhell (which is free)...if you disable the wrong system package you may end up disabling important functions/features.
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
What you can do is only disable it. That's what I'm doing with texture also and zone. Don't flash XAC if you are still a Rogers user you will loose wificall and Volte.
Only time you can remove it completely is to root. (Not available)
Or flash the XAC but modify the feature file in XAC to add the lines to enable wifi call and Volte. And again not possible cause there is no root yet.
So it takes you back to the 1rst and only option and don't try any even when they claim it uninstall without root(it does not work with Samsung phones )
Just disable it "I think you know how hold the app icon and you see a popup to disable"
If you rebooted the phone , app will not show to show it back enable it again .
When any app is disabled you can't download the app it will tell you it's available unless if it's a higher version.
So if for some reason you want to have a clone " exemple disable original Spotify to download a cracked ) use apk unpacker and change the signature name on the cracked apk.

blacked out apps install help

In this case you can't, disabling a system apps such as Gmail will still refuse to overwrite with modified signatures.
You can do it with Youtube Vanced, it uses a different package name that doesn't interfere with the original Youtube, you need a similar solution for your other apps.

Adb uninstalling doesn't uninstall anything, it's just a forced way to disable packages which works on system apps that have the greyed disable button, it won't help in this case.
