Downloads disappearing or failing mid way through when screen is off... - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm noticing that when I try to download something from Chrome, an app, etc. using the default download manager and I set my phone down (screen goes off) the download notification and download itself will disappear or fail. I often download shows/movies from an app I use and it only seems to work if the screen is kept on.
I've seen this issue talked about, but never really answered. I'm currently on the 6.0.1 ROM on my XT1575, but had this issue on other stock roms too.

Are you using any apps that try to force aggressive doze like naptime or greenify? I've had those interfere with some legitimate screen off wakelocks.

Just Frankenclark with scripts.

BT headset, have 3 different one. Pressing the button will kill the call while on GV. IDEAS?
I'm occasionally seeing the lockscreen flash up when turning the screen off.
Also, if there's a way to disable the lockscreen transparency I'd be interested to hear it - it looks rubbish.
Seeing the old issue of the notification drawer appearing in/after calls, too. Hadn't had this for a while on latest nightlies

Go to Google play services in privacy guard and deny it the permission to keep awake. Then reboot.

I don't want to reset my phone lol. Everything is working fine other than that.
color os camera problem
It worked perfectly on kitkat .
After updating to lollipop (official update) cm 12s , it seems to show some problem.
I can't see any live preview of the effects. It just shows the normal camera without any effects. But after I click, the picture comes with effect. So its just a problem about the live preview of the effects. Has anyone else experienced this problem ? Plz help me.
The now infamous two halves in pictures with flash are still there. I wonder if the community could extract the camera driver from oxygenOS kernel sources (when OP will finally release them) and use them, since it doesn't happen on that ROM.

I prefer using this method. Much cleaner IMO.

I think the lockscreen flashing after the screen turns off is a lollipop thing. I noticed it when I had a nexus 5 and upgraded to 5.0. I think I noticed it out of the corner of my eye so to speak, after I had set my phone down and the screen timed out, thought it flickered/flashed but that's just the screen off animation now.
Still playing around with all the settings to see what's new (and removed) and noticed:
No longer have the ability to configure the auto-brightness settings which I actually quite liked in 11S if for no other reason that I could set the auto brightness for low light down to 0% (instead of the, what... 5% normal setting?).
Screen Color calibration wouldn't work and crashed the settings app (screen went black and I couldn't get back into settings). A reboot seems to have fixed it.
The settings app may just be buggy as it crashed again when trying to access Developer Options (screen went black and required a reboot).
EDIT: Couldn't sign into my Cyanogen account but that could be a problem on Cyanogen's side as it didn't recognize my account.
Still seems like there are a lot of new things to try and there are more options than Oxygen OS.
Switching profiles:
from owner to guest: Cyanogenmod-log crashes
from guest to owner: code to unlock phone isn't shown and no matter what you type, it always incorrect. Fixed by rebooting

no problem like yours.
but there's no led notification (when lock and screen on) only ambient flashed-up display.
i do agree that autobrightness is not working like in cm11s.
But, i do have those problems after flashing from stock cm11s 05Q and via bootloader with fastboot image from the cyngn.
And cm12s from cm11s is have this kind of lagging typing/touching to be compared if you were flashing from cm12/cm12.1, strange indeed.
I'm back on nightlies. CM12S ain't for me, thought OxygenOS was better
Lags on interactive governor
Hi guys, did you notice any lags on interactive governor in games ? It lags on cm11s too, I thought that they will fix it in today released cm12s. It didn't happen before brick of my phone, since unbrick and flash of cm11s, games are lagging so much on interactive governor. Do you know how to fix that without any change of governor, hotplug or profiles ? Thanks a lot.

Problems with alarms/timers and aggressive doze

I'm stock rooted with kylo kernel. I have been having problems with aggressive doze in greenify and nap time where my timers don't go off on time. I have tried white listing the clock app but I'm still having issues. Is there an additional service I need to whitelist in addition to the clock?
Did you whitelist the clock app in Greenify only? What I mean is, did you go to the battery and select "don't optimize" for the clock? I was having that problem too, but after I did that, my timers and alarms work fine. I also ended up removing Greenify for now, and I feel my battery life is a bit better. I'm using naptime only, and I may experiment more with these apps to see if I really need them anymore. I'm on stock rooted with Ex kernel.
Greenify is no longer needed since Android 6.0.1 is great the way it is. I stopped using Greenify and still have a great battery life.
I whitelisted through the battery option in phone settings. If you try and whitelist thru greenify it takes you to the same place

I was having these issues as well. I had been using Alarm Clock Plus. I found that there was a new version called Alarm Clock Plus Sleep that deals with the new Doze features in 6.0. It seems like many apps have not been re-written to deal with it properly.

Delayed push notifications on 14S (+ fix)

Not sure how universal this problem and solution is going to be, but I noticed that even though Play Store installed fine, push notifications only arrive when I turn the screen on. Hence, there is some aggressive app optimization going on which even puts Google's push notification system to sleep. On my 13S firmware the phone came with, I had an option to disable battery optimization on per-app basis, I don't see this option on 14S though. I tried plenty of settings and what seems to work for now is a combination of two things. One is the Root- Push Notifications Fixer from Google Play:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andqlimax.pushfixer&hl=en
Second is that you also need to enable app auto launch (Settings->Permissions) for the apps that are supposed to receive notifications in background. I suppose they need to register for push notifications at boot.

Notifications

Notifications on apps like whatsapp, gmail etc, are very unreliable when the the screen has been off a while. We have the same problem with the Le Max 2 in our house.
Anybody experiencing the same?

Do you use greenify? That tends to sleep apps, there's an option to keep notifications on so you can get them still. Seems like probably another issue though.
Sent from my SM-J700T using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'm suffering exactly the same issue. When I receive any push message from Hangout or Whatsapp the phone does not play any notification sound, even though when I turn on the screen I can see the notification on the lockscreen and on the notification bar if I unlock by fingerprint.
This morning I realized that if you plug in headphones the notification message sound will get through.... quite weird....
It looks to me we will have to wait for the following OTA and see if it gets fixed. By the way my phone is Chinese/EU version.
Problem fixed easily:
to to the phone's manager/ power saving management, then the lock screen app protection, you need to set those apps 'protected' , so when the screen is off, they are still protected in the background. you may also want to check the align wake up which is another power saving feature. basically, you need to let any apps you want to have notification stay 'protected' when the phone is sleeping. Make sure also check under setting/ notification management, to enable those apps......

Oreo 8.0 Beta Experiences So Far

As many know the beta went live for Sprint, Unlocked, and T-Mobile customers earlier today so I thought (since I didn't see one posted already) that a thread of our experiences with it so far would be nice to have.
So far here is a list of bugs some comments have posted in this thread:
Laggier than Nougat
Live Messages force close
Adhell2 frequent force closes
Bluetooth fails to turn on until reboot
Random reboots
Personally, it feels snappier in nearly all operations when using Nova Launcher Prime, but it's when I switched back to TouchWiz that I've noticed that it feels much more responsive than it did before. It feels much better.now and I'm going to use Touchwiz for a few days and see if it's worth using now.
The one area I was really hoping that would have seen an improvement would be swiling to the right for Bixby, which feels worse now somehow. While Bixby seems a little better when activating with voice, and the new interface for Bixby home does look nicer (personal opinion, obviously) the actually swiping is still a slow mess.

Keep getting an app called mobile downloader in notification panel up to the left, can't clear it can only snooze it, wtf, I like a tidy left notification panel especially on the left

I got this also on sprint, I just forced closed it. Comes back with a reboot but whatever, the notification is gone
I like a tidy notification panel/Status bar as well and I'm now noticing more than usual notifications that I don't like:
"so and so app is running in the background" and I can't disable it. That's annoying.

I'm on T-Mobile. You may need to do a cache clear and reboot it. I know that can clear up lag after an update sometimes. Always worth a shot if you haven't already.

It's stable, has silly bugs but on a whole it's much to do about nothing.
It's not a case of Samsung at all, it's android itself. Google just don't bring much to the table anymore
samsung keyboard forced closed but came back in a reboot, usually use gboard though, so im going back to that
I have been running 8.0 Beta 1 for about 8 hours now, and have also reverted back to TouchWiz from Nova so I can view the full experience. So far, everything is faster. No issues with any content or apps already loaded from 7. I have only noticed one small, split-second glitch so far, and that was an animation delay returning to the Home screen from using an app. 30 apps sitting in Recents right now, so could have happened just the same on 7. Regardless, I am completely content, and have already forgotten that were talking about a beta, let alone Beta 1. Surprisingly good job Samsung, and I'm still in shock that we even have Oreo already, to be honest... Looking forward to further testing and the finished release.
My S8 is my only cellphone phone , I consider myself a Android enthusiasts. I love tweaking settings.and I'm always on my phone. Do you think the beta is stable enough ? to install theOreo beta i have already downloaded it I just want to see, if the apps are closing , crashing, buggy ,rebooting ect. The occasional hiccup will be no big deal thanks in advance for your response
Does anyone else's Live Messages force close while using the messaging app? I ask because I previously installed the Note 8 Live Messages mod before I installed the Oreo Update and I'm not sure if that may be the reason why it is now force closing.

Personally it has been snappier with no app crashes. I have had Facebook crash and some other app I don't remember, but it was something else I had installed and not a major component and it has only been once for both, but Facebook had issues all week since I re-enabled it. It has just now been working better (POS app anyway.)
That and the annoying to me notification panel are the only things. No bugs, lag, etc but I can't speak on battery yet... So far it seems in line, but I don't really know until tomorrow.

No problems with Messages here, but I haven't modded it from the Note app so I dunno, and this version doesn't have the Live messages feature still, so I'm going to guess that might be the issue there.

thought poweramp was not working, turns out it had lost my music folder on the sd card and I had to point it at it again.
How is the battery life?
I have been experiencing the same issue. Whenever I select it on the keyboard the message "Live Messenger has closed" appears and the phone just vibrates on me. I tried a reboot to get it to work and still no change. I am also constantly getting "New Messaging Features" appearing in my message bar, over and over and when I click "Start" I do not get the code and get it completely registered. Not sure if that is adding to the issue as well.
