Dear community, I'm experiencing "Gallery" app crash on my S7 Edge 6.0.1
I tried everything, clear cache, clear data, clear dalvik cache, install an app update (http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung...-apk-download/)... Still crash ONLY when I click on "ALBUM" section. "Story" and "Image" works perfect! Tried also safe mode with the same result!
At this point I don't know how to proceed... Also, is there any log I can check?
Thank you
Lucas
Well, don't ask me why, but renaming DCIM (from external SDCard) to DCIM1 do the trick. Gallery doesn't crash anymore and all sections work fine. Plus, my photo are still on Gallery. Hope this helps other people with same issue.

Hi! i really don't understand why my gallery is slow, laggy and unusable so i try some ways to make it works...
at least (after flash rom again, some factory reset, deleting apps..and more try..) i found that "wipe cache partition" make gallery really *REALLY* fast! (do from recovery 3.0, wipe cache partition is not factory reset, you lose nothing, so if you wanna try.. ;-) )
but...
what happen with /cache ? after a while the gallery became slow again, and i don't understan if it's my fault or what
could someone help me?
now, half of day since clear, gallery it's ok, fast and smooth, but i'd like to understand how /cache is involved with gallery
bye ;-)
hmmm 170 viewers and no reply...I'm going to think I made a stupid topic... :-D
EDIT: if you think your gallery is not so fast, try wipe cache partition from recovery, and then try gallery again, i'm sure you will notice the BIG difference ;-)
However, i made some other try, all work fine with gallery until i place VOICE widget on homescreen, try voice command for a while, exit and try gallery, it's became slow AGAIN !!!.... so i removed VOICE widget, enter recovery, wipe cache, reboot , and gallery fly again...
i really don't understand where is the problem....
I guess u are using RFS file sistem... Things u say are logical.. When your cache is full, everything works slowly... There is another option to clear cache... Open Settings/Application/Gallery/Clear Data
I am using Galaxian kernel with EXT4 file system, and it is faster in every way...
hi medvedic! thanks for your answer!
i use ext4 with darkcore kernel, so thinghs are more strange eh ?
i try your suggerst to clear data from application settings menu' ! next time i found gallery slow i'll sure try this first
however, i think that, more modding we made on rom, more is risk to have some bugs somwhere...

How ext4 works with ROM, that depends of kernel... Kernel is in charge for that..
P.S. You are welcome... We are here to help each other...
Well I just cleared the data in Gallery and it worked for me thanks much faster now
emmm,
let me tell you sth, if you use your PC or Root Explorer, you can see the there is a folder called .thumbnails. Inside the folder, there is a log of samll size images for previes which are useless if you have deleted the original photos, or move to other folder. These images will still stay in your phone which will make your gallery loading slower. Just try to delete this folder if you wish. Although it will recreated for preview sizes, but it clean the other and set your gallery free from jamming or lagging.
Hi guys. So after finding this apk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340858), my friend installed this on his Sprint Galaxy s4 and 1) this didn't work for him (random glitches, force closes for whatever reason), and 2) his touchwiz gallery no longer works. (It just shows a black screen, and doesn't recognize any photos on his device. Using a file manager, I've found that everything is still there, though.) I've tried uninstalling the photosphere gallery app, clearing defaults, and rebooting, but no luck so far. I've also cleared cache for the touchwiz gallery app. I've been trying to find the touchwiz gallery apk from the new s4 to try and reinstall it, but haven't been able to dig it up. His phone isn't rooted, and he has no desire to change that. Any suggestions, guys? Thanks in advance!
Since upgrading to 4.3, snapchat has not been able to load videos. it just keeps refreshing at "tap to load" i also noticed that when attempting to record video, the screen freezes until you lift your finger, then snapchat treats it like a picture.. so i cannot record or send videos either.
anyone else encounter this? fyi, i also installed the moto x camera and am using the banks gapps with photosphere add on. this problem is persistent in two different jss 4.3 aosp roms. i tried clearing app data, uninstalling, reinstall, no change.
titanium backup snapchat
im going to bump this issue because i have some thoughts on what might be the issue..
titanium restore.. there was an incompatibility with 4.3 when 4.3 was released. of course i had flashed 4.3 prior to titanium app update and used it to restore snapchat. this is when the no video problem started.
my hypothesis is this.. snapchat needs to store your videos locally on the phone before viewing, then deletes it after viewing. do you think that when titanium restored the app, it restored it with incorrect internal storage mapping? if snapchat can't access internal storage, that would explain why it cant load or record videos.
now, ive uninstalled and reinstalled snapchat before with no luck.. might that be because snapchat leaves bits and pieces of itself in the phone therefore never really has a fresh install?
if this is the case, how can i go about hunting down every last bit of snapchat?

I'm able to view videos fine, but I'm having the same problem recording videos. One thing I've noticed, if I flash a new rom [complete wipe] I can record videos fine for a few hours, but after that it starts acting up again [recording, but then only saving the first frame and sending only a picture.]
Also, I should note I'm on a Galaxy S3, noticed this issue on Cyanogenmod [4.2+] and ParanoidAndroid [4.2+], haven't tried stock. I'll reply here if I figure it out, let me know if you have any results too!

I did find a solution. I uninstalled Snapchat then went into twrp recovery and deleted the folder associated with it located at data/media/android/data/*snapchat*
Reboot and reinstall Snapchat. That folder will be recreated... Correctly.. With what I believe to be the right permissions.
If you want to try something else first try the app "fix permissions" and run it on Snapchat. Maybe that will fix the permissions of the folder.
Lastly there is a zip you can flash that fixes all permissions on your internal storage to proactively fix this issue for any other app. Search for fix internal storage permissions. The thread should come up.

Thanks. I boot to TWRP 2.6.x, File Manager, use chmod on snapchat folder and subfolders, reboot and the video record works. This was on Supernexus 4.3 on T-Mobile Galaxy S2 T989.

I'm a little slow, what is chmod? I tried finding the snapchat folder to delete after unistall, but could not. I'm flashing a new rom now coincidentally so I'm hoping snapchat will just work after that... otherwise I might try this fix permissions app. I would really like to be able to send video snaps. Seems like it should be an easy enough thing....
Bump
Also having this problem. I installed Cyanogenmod 10.2 on my GS3, used titanium backup. Ended up reverting to my nandroid backup a few hours later, and now my snapchat cannot record videos, look at videos, OR see "My Story" posts (if i click on them, it does a quick load, but doesn't open)
I read through this thread, but cannot figure out how to delete the SnapChat folder in recovery mode. I tried deleting it in the TWRP file manager, and it SAYS it deleted it, but it is still there. Any help please?
same problem

You tried reflashing stock firmware via Odin?

Yes, the best alternative is the QuickPic, in my opinion, is better than the default app.
Try rebuild the cached pics by opening the settings menu, going into Applications->Manage Apps->go under All Apps and look for the Gallery app.
Clear Cache and Clear Data and Force stop.
Flash stock rom via odin.. then do a clean install of your rom. And see if the problem still persist..
flash the stock rom by odin .... then wipe data and cache open phone wipe data and cache from gallery ... REBOOT!
It must be donE
Hello,
I just received an 170ish MB update, installed it with no problems, but now I see that the camera doesn't work.
Tried clearing cache from recovery, tried to clear cache and data form the app, tried to open the app from safe mode and even removing the 256GB Samsung SD card, but the camera is still not working.
Please let me know what can I do to fix it, I do not want to do a full reset to the factory settings.
P. S. I attached the screenshot with my software info

do you mean default camera?
have you test another camera app?
