Please Help Me Root my 900V on PF4!!! - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently downgraded to a GS5 from GS6 EDGE + for a few reasons but the main one being ability to root. The GS5 showed up already on PF4. I have looked for hours through the threads and I am stumped on how to get this phone rooted. Any Ideas?

There is a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370/page288 that involves downgrading to PB1 but you can go back to PF4 later. Hope this helps if you haven't already figured it out.

[Q] Verizon S5 Lollipop rootable?

Hey Guys -
My apologies if this ends up being a stupid question but, is the Verizon Samsung S5 running Android Lollipop rootable?
I've been searching around the forum (and Google) and it seems like there was a root process but the loophole got closed. So presently, is there no way to root this phone?
I think half of me is just surprised that a phone isn't rootable so I just wanted to double-check.
Thanks in advance,
K

You'll have to downgrade to NK2 and follow this.

Sorry, I have another "stupid" question then. I have 4.4.2 NCG rooted phone. I found out that I can update it to NK7 (even though I'm afraid to do so, since my last attempt to upgrade to 4.4.4 worked fine with the exception of Xposed Moto Tether, which is one of the most apps that I'm using). My question is if it does make sense for me to update my phone to rooted L and have all the trouble with drained battery and crashed apps?

Rooted Verizon phone is messed up

I had issues so I tried various things and have no luck. I had a rooted S5 on lollipop and now I have actually broke the phone part and unable to make calls. What I want to do is find a way to keep the constant message "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped. I have done a factory reset and lost everything. no biggie but I would like to get my phone back and still keep root. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I was told I would get more replies in this forum but so far nothing.. I am desperate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe if posted in the Questions and answers section...that section gets more traffic
I did first
Just tried Towelroot but I am unable to connect to the internet at all with my phone.
sounds like you may need to load a factory firmware with PIT file using ODIN.
OK where is that located?
I have odin 3.9
sammobile dot com / firmwares
find your model (G900V) and download latest firmware to flash. Looks like BOE1 was added last week.
You may want to try an older 4.4.2 rom, but it is my understanding that Verizon has a locked bootloader, and you can't downgrade once you already have 5.0 on your phone.
Thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am back to normal again. Appreciate it very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK I lost root, what do I install now running lollipop
I have searched for many hours and haven't found anything. If anyoone has a process that works on 900V verizon S5, please let me know the process. (and i just bought Titanium backup). ugggg .. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Isn't there a way to go back to a previous version then back to lollipop as I did have root on lollipop before I screwed up my phone?

Wish I had known that before I redid it. Anyone know if there is a way?
I wish I had read about this before I put it on my phone! Verizon OE1 update prevents rooting/downgrading

Verizon Galaxy s5, I'm new to rooting. What should I know?

I know the s6 is out, an I bought a S5. I'm arriving fashionably late to this rooting thing.
I have never rooted any of my devices ever, and by what I here.. Shame on me.
I need to get the most outta my phone and clean it up from factory crap. I love the ability to customize my phone, but I have no clue where to start.
An very nervous of "bricking?" my phone or messing it up. I'm tech savvy so I think it wont be to hard...? What would I be able to do with my phone when it is rooted? Will it void my warranty and can it ever go back? I remember when I first heard about rooting and people where "Bricking" phones left and right... Kinda the reason I never ventured into rooting. Well I put my big boy pants on and ready to go.. lol I would appreciate any help.
More than likely you purchased your phone already running lollipop, and if so, you can't root. Not yet, anyway.

Verizon says it will be running 4.4 kitkat, the site and the verizon rep said the same thing.

FYI :
My version was OC1 or something (Lollipop) but fortunately not latest version, so I downgraded my one to NCG(Kitkat), and then rooted and upgraded it to OG5

Like the OP I, too, just bought an S5 but I bought it from a guy, NOT from Verizon. SO it's running Android 5.0 already. That's Lollipop, right?
Even though I have used Android for years I don't know all the terms (and am new to the XDA site). Is there a FAQ or something listing the basic stuff?
I got my old phone repaired -- a Samsung S3 running Android 4.4.2 -- so I presume it will be easier to learn to root, and I might want to start there.
UPDATE -- partly answering my own question by going to the xda-developers.com homepage and then scrolling to the bottom to see "root any device." I can see I still have a lot to learn, but there's some good info there

Bootloader is locked and there are no known vulnerabilities that would allow root. I doubt anyone is working on a root process considering how tightly locked down the bootloader is.
Help ROOTING Samsung S5 Verizon
I have rooted a few phones all have been Samsungs. It is really bad when you give your hard working money to someone to buy something and they can control how you use it. ,,Can someone please help. I have read for 3 days about rooting this Samsung Galaxy S5 5.0 and it seems to have the latest updates and the knox thing is 0x0, Anyways I did the Kingroot on one phone and the one click root on one. I am not into doing all that different stuff with my phone that most people do when they root it,,,My only purpose for rooting is getting all the extra bloatware off...I have read that the S5 5.0 can not be rooted. Can someone help me..All I want to do is remove the bloatware...Please if you know how to root it let me know

So you read in these forums that the S5 5.0 cannot be rooted, but then you ask if anyone knows how to root it. Trust me, if someone had figured out how to root 5.0 on the S5 it would be very prominent in these forums. No one knows how to root 5.0 builds of OE1 or newer on the Verizon S5. Not sure how much clearer that can be stated like it was earlier in this thread.

Samsung S5 Active Root? *6.0.1

I'm sure there's been many posts on how to root this device before. But my S5 is AT&T, and just received the Marshmallow update last week. Not to mention the last samsung I had attempted to root (S4, 4.4.1 kitkat) didn't end too well.
Can anyone give me links to forums OR if you know how to root my device, care to help me?

You'll not get root access on that s5 active if it's on marshmallow due to the bootloader being locked. I have one and the only reason I have root on it is because I still have the OC5 bootloader on it so it will forever be on TMS5. Sorry buddy.

I do believe they have a way to downgrade back to lollipop now and get root access on lollipop but you will need to check your build version/number and see if it matches the one in their instructions. Here's one for s5active which is what I have but I don't see the one for s5. On another note my g870 build has been g900 for as long as I've had it.

[Q] New AT&T SM-930A user, root/unlock posssible?

I just got my first Samsung and got the S7 SM-930A (guess is a snapdragon, right?) My previous phone was a Nexus 6 (rooted) I was looking if its possible to get root for this phone, I'm currently running Nougat 7.0 withe June security patch...I have read here but Im not quite sure if there is root or not for my phone (at least the AT&T version) can anyone point me in the right direction...my main goal for rooting is to get rid of all the apps that AT&T loads so I can have a phone close to my old Nexus, thanks for any tips/help

I also have the 930A and I rooted mine. After I rooted, performance and battery life dropped pretty bad. I would suggest just living with the bloatware and maybe disabling it, rooting is not worth it on the S7 imo. I unrooted and thankfully I'm back on Nougat with blisteringly fast performance once again.
Try the package disabler pro from app store to disable the bloatware. It works good, i previously had always rooted my phones but after reading so many stories about the s7 going bad afterwards I disabled what I needed and customize the rest.
