Is there anything similar to the Samsung secure folder for the LG V20? Coming from a Note 7 I really found this useful. Really want the V20 but I was wondering of anyone who already has the phone can let me know. If not is there any app I can download that has the same features? As far as storing pictures/videos and apps only viewable/usable somewhere password protected? Please let me know. Thanks.
if you want to hide stuff in folder but not concern about the password and you lock certain app to access the memories except the instants that ppl connect to the phone to computer then...nvm.... anyways you can make uses of the ".nomedia files" or the ".foldername" to make it hidden in most app unless you use file manager that shows hidden files which is why i mention about locking those apps.
App dedicated on are on the app store but didnt really find good one when i search...

Yeah, I was wondering the same...very nice feature on the N7...maybe Samsung will release it as a general app!
Off a quick search, I did find this app which appears to have similar functionality. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet, though, but it does look promising.

hi, im wondering if there was an app that could password lock certain applications?? im currently using wm 6.5 please help
Would be nice since first thing people do when they wanna look at ya phone is click on pictures
I'd really be surprised if there exists such an app. Most developers would make an app to make accessing your apps easier. I doubt someone would make an app to stop you from accessing your apps.
The TP2 is an expensive device. So a sound suggestion would be to keep it away from kids (if that's what you're worried about).

Well, a smart thing to do would be to not keep "sensitive" pictures on your device! If you insist on having quick access to such pics, perhaps you should check out encryption software. Or simply just move them into another folder so they're not easily accessible via the album.
Hello everyone.
I've just realized that after making a video if I delete it and shoot another one the little preview on the file shows the previous and deleted video,it does not match,so I have to go through all the videos in order for me to see the one I want to send or watch.
Has anyone had this issue?
Thanks so much.
Yep
Yep
having same issues with my streak....must have something to do with Album Art Caching....need to write an app for this...
Thank you very much for your reply.I thought I was the only one experiencing this.
Anybody else?
Last night I called Dell and they are gonna send me a new device, since this one is not even a week old.
Yeah me too.. a bit annoying but I got over it pretty quickly.
We all should report this,Dell needs to know, the more the better.
Did you find an app for this? any workaround?
Thanks.
Little workaround
I think I have just found a little workaround to solve this issue.I put my videos on a different folder on my computer, this is what I did after that:
-Go to sdcard (use Astro,Linda, windows file explorer will work too)then go to DCIM,you will see two folders camera and .thumbnails (just delete this one only)
Once you have deleted that one put the videos back on the camera folder, then take a look at the gallery on your streak, now the videos should be showing the real preview.
If you delete one of the videos the issue will be back and you will have to start the process over. After messing a little bit more with this folder I can see it does work.So if you come across the same bug give it a shot.
just initiate a new media scan..
Ok...I know it sounds very stupid specially after trying so many steps, but how can I do that....I'm sure I'm missing something.
Thanks.

Your phone should do a media scan when you restart, if that doesn't clear up the problem you can try an app like Rescan Media. It forces a media rescan without a reboot. There are others, that was the first I found.
Ok...I think I got it this time.Maybe it is one of the apps that do not autostart when I turn on the device,I use autostarts to disable apps and I must have disabled something that was not supossed to be off.
Thanks.
Yesterday I got a call from my network offering an upgrade to the S5 (from my current s3/i9300) which I accepted only to find out afterwards about the new SD card policy in kitkat.
Is there any news somewhere about if this change is being reversed anytime soon? Otherwise I'm considering returning the phone before I even get it.
Yes I have tried Google but I don't know if there's somewhere it's being mentioned somewhere that I missed e.g. Facebook or Google+.
I know there are root based fixes but I wouldn't want to root it (not yet anyway).

No, there are a few work-arounds (like Samsung still supporting app2sd, root,...). But Google isn't changing its policy on SD cards.
You can still use the stock app My Files on the S5 to read/write to the SD card...but yes Google is closing loopholes with each update. Just ask the folks that use FolderSync, worked at first with KitKat, then 4.4.2 came along and made it to where the app couldn't sync with the SD card anymore.

I'm one of the folder sync crowd and I'm not happy that apps I've paid for have been crippled in this way Foldersync's not the only app either. I know I could root the phone and get round it that way but at the moment that's not something I'm prepared to do. This all smacks of Google forcing us to use cloud services namely theirs! as a result if I have to go the cloud root it'll be anything but Google Drive.

You nailed it...
i would also like it reversed
as far as i understand it was designed to clean up orphaned files on the SD card which is all very nice but...
what about all the orphaned files that cannot be touched now if you upgraded your existing phone from 4.3 and the apps no longer have permission???
very poorly thought out move for a zillion dollar company
After trying it out I've decided I'm going to return it, at least until this situation is fixed officially since within 5 minutes I was finding problems which never existed before.
If google are that concerned over SD card management they should at least give the option for the old system like supersu does for root..
It feels like Android is starting to turn into a half-a***ed ios.

FYI- If you root, you can fix the "sd card issue".
Didn't even know there was an sd card issue lol
Rooted before I used anything within 10 mins of receiving phone! Why wouldn't you want to root?

Mainly the warranty among a few other things.
If the thing supported the SD card as it was OOTB chances are I'd be fine on a stock, un-rooted ROM and there are few other reasons I'd root it otherwise (at least for now).
An app called File expert has sorted this issue out with out root. Available from play Store
any link to which file expert? there seems to be mutliple "file experts". I am another user that is not happy about the sd card situation, nice fat card, unable to move. As far as why not to root, I gotta give it back in a year.
Am I correct in my interpretation that to someone like myself, who only stores photos and music on external card, this has no effect?

From what I understand, yes and no.
The change is that most apps no longer have write access to anywhere on the SD card, the only exceptions I believe are system apps and MTP.
So if you only use the stock camera, file manager and MTP you should be fine AFAIK.
If however you use other apps e.g. isyncr, that will only be able to save files in it's own dedicated folder (e.g. exsdcard>Android>com.isyncr>music) and if you uninstall the app it will remove the data it's saved there so you need to backup anything first.
However, apps can READ anywhere so for example, you could have your music in a folder you can still use any compatible media player.
There however have been work arounds from what I've read, for example, using the Android media scanner it's been possible to delete compatible songs instead of directly deleting it.

this is also not a samsung issue...its an android KitKat issue....so no matter what phone u get..it wil happen
anyways..yes this is an issue if you are unrooted...but being rooted and running the app fixes the issue
Samsung could do something about it. It is their own Touchwiz ROM after all.
Of course unless Google throws a fit for going against design directions.

When I open a file that can be opened with multiple apps, I get the choice notification to pick an app, but there is no "only once" button like on my S4. I have to pick one and it gets stored as the default app and I never get the choice again. Anyone else seeing this?
Yes. Very annoying!!!!
Is this a touchwiz bug? Would you expect it to be fixed in an update?
I believe it is an Android Marshmallow "feature"
I hate it, but can't do a damn thing about it without root
Found the app "Better Open With". Not perfect, but does a good job and no root required.

Awesome! That app has fixed one of my top 5 problems about the S7!
Hotspot tethering I also got working, so 2 things crossed off my list
Next, I need to move my app data. I need root for Titanium, and the Samsung smart switch only moved over APKs and not their data from my S5. Looks like I need to use the Helium app now.
If you want a better chance at rooting sign this and pass it on

is there any xposed solution for this feature that was removed?
I guess this is a long shot, but I'm looking for a specific APK file for an older Chinese smartwatch... The watch itself contains a QR code which leads to this specific file: http://www.paxgps.com/BT_WATCH.APK, but obviously, this does not exist anymore...
The manual says to scan this QR code if you're on Android, or to go and look for the BTSWATCH app if you're on IOS... The IOS app does still exist in the Apple store, but the Android app has always been a side loaded app as far as I know...
So does anybody still have this app, or can anybody recommend an app which should work with the ZGPAX S360 (or anything like that)?
Edit: I really need to update my signature, I haven't used this board in ages XD
Bupm, anybody?
Edit: Found it, this is the apk I was looking for: https://www.smartwatchmarket.eu/en/smartwatches/58-swm-s360.html (you can find it under the tab Downloads...)
