Relocking bootloader any possible way to save all data? Fully stock unrooted - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have a fully stock unrooted Nexus 6P on latest 7.1.1 build (android beta) but now the Android Pay is breaking because it doesn't allow unlocked bootloader.
I use android Pay a lot so I am considering locking my bootloader, but can't wipe all data to get it. Is this even possible? I hope it is..

You could save the contents of your storage by dragging to a computer and then dragging back to your phone once its locked but thats about it. I think.

So what I'm hearing that it is NOT possible to have a
Nexus 6P
Running Android 7.1.1
with a System-enabled Pixel Launcher (Google Now on left pane)
that can run Android Pay
Because I'm assuming if you re-lock the bootloader to get Android Pay, your phone gets wiped along with that Pixel Launcher and its permissions.
Correct? have I described a unicorn phone?

[Q] Advice on installing an update on a rooted Nexus 10

I have a recently rooted N10 on Android 4.4 build KRT16S. I have had the system update to 4.4.2 in my notifications for weeks now. What I wanted to know has anyone installed this update without any problems? and am I likely to lose root? Bit clueless as to how these updates work but saying that I did manage unlock the boot loader and flash my tablet without any issues. Also if I shouldn't install the update how do remove this update. Thanks in advance folks, Phil.
The update may or may not work, it depends on how much you've touched the system files. If you've just rooted it, the update should work. If not, you can flash the factory image (except for the data partition).
You'll probably lose root, but on a unlocked bootloader, that's nothing to worry about, as you can trivially re-root it.

[Q] Having trouble updating to Lollipop

I wonder if anyone can help.
My Nexus 4 had updated itself happily to Lollipop 5.0 and it was working nicely, except that when the 5.0.1 update arrived it showed the android on its back with a red "!" so I assumed it was due to the phone being rooted and unlocked (although 5.0 had installed without any problem).
I have since upgraded to a OnePlus One so I decided to wipe the Nexus, unroot and re-lock it in preparation for selling it so I used Nexus Root Toolkit (my regular rooting tool) to do all of that. I tried loading 5.0.1 through it and it installed but couldn't see my Wi-Fi, although it did see someone else's. After trying a couple of times I tried 5.0 and that was the same so eventually I tried 4.4.4 and that was successful.
The plan was to leave it plugged in and charging so that it would automatically receive the Lollipop updates but it's been a week now with me regularly pressing the 'check for update' button but there is no sign of them.
I don't think there is any other way to force the updates but can you think of anything that might be stopping them? Nexus Root Toolkit downloaded the images from Google so presumably they're OK, the play store loaded and updated my apps, the time updates when I press 'check for update' yet no O/S updates appear. I can't sell it if it's not updating itself so any help would be much appreciated. It couldn't be because I have OEM locked it could it? I can't remember if it was unlocked when I got it but it made sense to do it.

I would flash the factory image using fastboot to 5.0.1. You'll have to unlock the device again. I'm not a fan of tool kits

In the toolkit options enable "Force Flash Mode" and try again; this will fastboot flash the img files individually and overcome the issues with Google's new Lollipop factory packs, where the fastboot update cmd, is not working properly (as written in their own incldued flash-all.bat).
In the future.. rather than PM'ing me and making a thread.. just post in the NRT threads.

It took a lot of fiddling about and several boot loops but eventually I managed to install 5.0 (using NRT) and it updated to 5.0.1 (which is what I wanted to see to be sure it was working alright before I sell it) so all is well at last. Thanks for the suggestions.

Android Pay + Unlocked Bootloader (no root)

So I enjoy using Android Pay and don't want to lock myself out. Because of this I never rooted and I seem to be able to live with it. However I just got a replacement device (broke my screen) so before loading it all up again I'm considering unlocking the bootloader just in case I change my mind in the future (and don't want to wipe again).
If I unlock my bootloader but keep everything else stock, will this affect my ability to use Android Pay?
No it will not affect Android Pay.
unlocked bootloader has no effect on android pay, it will work fine.

Noob question re bought half-rooted phone & poss issues if keep way it is?

I just bought what was meant to be a new factory unlocked HTC 10 online but it's actually half-rooted phone that was Sprint branded. As in Malwarebytes and Android Pay claim it's rooted but Root Checker says it's not rooted properly.
I'm also unable to open any free apps that require rooting (i.e., Titanium back up, Super SU), and checking for the latest Android software on my phone has a never-ending busy signal. Thus, I'm unable to wait for update to Oreo when it's released in a few months to unroot the noob way? I'm currently running Nougat.
I'd prefer the phone to be unrooted but I guess my concern is that if I revert the phone back I may not able to use the phone as it may be locked to Sprint? (I'm an Australian user). Is there anyway I can check this with the phone the way it is at the moment? If I just leave the phone not rooted correctly what issues will I run into while using the phone for next few years? What convenience apps (besides Android Pay) won't work?
Note: I'm also not keen on returning the phone as it's too much hassle and don't have a decent back up phone.

Android update with unlocked bootloader but without root

Hello,
I've got under my care a Samsung Galaxy A40 (SM-A405FN). The phone has an unlocked bootloader, but was not rooted or otherwise modified. Several years ago, I have only unlocked its bootloader as a first step to rooting it, but did not go any further. The phone currently runs Android 9.
Is it possible to update the phone to a newer version of Android without losing data? OTA update is disabled and the text claims that it should be possible to update the phone using a computer.
