Anyone in the US preorder and notice that their received tablet did not have the LTE they were promised in the specifications pre-sales? I got mine in yesterday and there was no nano-sim slot. The manual spells out 2 models, one with and one without, but the website simply said that it had a SIM slot and LTE and didn't give the option for different models - only colors.
I am pissed and feel that I was bait-and-switched. The only reason I bought it was for a better LTE tablet!
I'm also a bit ticked off about this. I have not yet ordered the device simply because the site and information thus far is not clear about LTE...
I just got off the phone with Lenovo sales and they were just as clueless.
My colleague ordered one of these and received Model YB1-X90F and the manual does say that for LTE you need optional model YB1-X90L. I haven't had a good look at his tablet but if you look inside the slot can you at least confirm if there are pins to read the SIM? Perhaps the radio is actually there on all models?
The sales rep did show me a spec sheet which shoes the US yoga book as "None" for WWAN but if you open the PDF spec sheet on the model it has LTE listed as optional. Well WHERE can we select this option???? Again, sales rep and sales rep manager said its all the same and the "option" was the consumer just has to put in their own SIM card. Either way, its not clear.
For reference, here is the Lenovo spec site: http://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/YOGA_Book?M=ZA0V0224US
Click the PDF icon to bring up the more details on the optional LTE.
Update: So I spoke with another sales rep who tells me the marketing team made a mistake when the device was first listed on the US site and that it will NOT have LTE capabilities. Yoga books from other countries "may"
REALLY REALLY DISAPPOINTED. I was a click away from buying this and I decided to "chat" with a Lenovo person about LTE. One said yes it was LTE compatible even though their actual website did not mention it so I got a second opinion and that person said only some models in Europe will have the LTE version. UGH!
If you pull out the SIM/MicroSD tray you see where the SIM would fit is solid metal.
I compared to the SIM/MicroSD on my Galaxy S7 Edge, the Sim space is open and fits the Sim. The MicroSD and the Sim cards lie side by side.
Unfortunately the Samsung tray doesn't line up for me to try to fit it in.
FYI, The best answer Lenovo is willing to offer me is that they do not know if they will ever sell the LTE version and they are willing to issue a full refund and offer a tiny discount on a future purchase.
sigh. I hope Lenovo will start selling the LTE version in the near future.
I got mine last year from Amazon in Germany. It's model YB1-X90L and the LTE module works flawlessly in all European states I visited recently (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and France) and in the US.

ahh! that's good to know. I've seen that model on ebay also. As long as it works for US T-Mobile, then I am sold.
I'm a Vodafone customer in Europe ... In the US, it's a bit random which provider is selected ... I have no idea whether I was connected to T-Mobile during my last US trip ... Sorry for that ...

Try this: http://www.grossoshop.net/huawei-ho...-4g-lte-3-64gb-gold-shipping-from-europe.html
It's shipped from Italy and it has 24 month EU warranty. Shipping cost is to pay separately though but it's not a big deal.
You can get it cheaper but with China warranty and service in China is really something. I'll never try it again.
First make sure the networks will function in US.
I bought chinese version PLK-TL01H on oppomart(Phone was delivered within 3 days by DHL). LTE is NOT working on AT&T, however HSPA+ is working and it is kinda sufficient for me.

Since s7yler has published this excellent site link: http://www.willmyphonework.net/, finding phone connection possibility is no big deal anymore. If you're from the USA, you'll have 2G and 3G in any network but those from CDMA side (like Verizon) and you'll have 4G on Sprint (at least in cities) and providers using its network (like Defense). And you can always buy additional data pay as you go sim as you have two sim slots.

Thanks guys. I am on Cricket mobile which essentially is ATT. Their data is limited to I believe 8mbits/s anyway so LTE even if it doesn't work is not that big of a deal. I have checked that all other bands 3G (HSPA+) and 2G work. I am no stranger to non US phones if you check my sig, so making sure I have supported bands is usually my first filter to decide if a phone makes my list.
I'll check out the sites you all provided.
Be very careful, Oppomart stole me almost 400eur on refound (sent me a used mobile of another old model and i sent back), they just wait PayPal time expire, don’t let time expire even they implore. Do not trust Oppomart.
I buy from aliexpress and pandawill, it never happen something like this.
hi
I am originally from Switzerland and always bought all the galaxy's there in a regular electronic store with no branding or carrier on it. I was always able to use my phones internationally with every possible carrier. a year ago I moved to the states and currently using my s6 edge from Switzerland on cricket (at&t) network. Though i don't get great data speed and connection cause of some frequencies differences between the european and us network. I want to get the s7 edge in the US so i can enjoy perfect connection and speed, but cant find any reliable information regrading the global version SM-G930F, i need one that will also funtion worldwide and especially in switzerland as i travel alot. Unfortunatly in the US people are forced to suscribe to the major cariers to get a the s7 now. i would love to pre-order to get the VR for free. Can anyone pls help me ? what are my possiblities?
Thank u
I don't think you can preorder unless it's through a carrier. You would have to wait until amazon and Samsung begin selling them directly. Which means no VR. Also I can't guarantee that the USA version will be able to fully function abroad. Sorry buddy.
European retailers have been taking pre orders for the unlocked sm-g930F and sm-g-935F international versions since February 23. Unlike US, where carriers dominate the market with their own variants.
The problem is the EU retailers I came across don't ship internationally. But if you have someone in Switzerland, you can order it with their (or your own address in Switzerland) and have them send it to you. You can go to (Google Samsung Switzerland) and on their site you'll see a dozen retailers, such as Steg Electronics, simply offering the unlocked SM-G935F for 818 CHF. Nice and simple!
I preordered mine today without a carrier. The only ****ty thing is that here in Norway a carrier has got the rights to silver color. So i could just make the preorder with other colors
Thank u so much for the info, will I get a free VR ? And also can I use the global version in the US and still enjoy the same data speed and connectivity on att network as I would with a US version? Cause my Swiss Galaxy s6 edge is slower here than an American one, something because of different frequency usage
Cricket is part of at&t, but the way at&t differentiates its plans with its prepaid business (aka cricket wireless) is that Cricket's 4G LTE data speed is limited to 8 mega bits per second, while a native at&t LTE plan speeds go much higher. Cricket clearly states this in the fine prints under their plan as a link "Important data usage ..." As "High-speed data access allows download speeds of a maximum of 8 Mbps for compatible LTE devices and 4 Mbps for compatible HSPA+ devices.".
So if your Galaxy s6 is the international version (SM-G925F), then it has all the right bands to operate on any GSM carrier in the States. All you need to verify is that if your phone has the correct APN. Every US carrier has instructions and FAQs on their APN. For example here is the cricket page:
https://www.cricketwireless.com/sup...ice-byod/customer/bring-your-own-android.html
Thank u very much but I called them many times and they weren't able to fix the issue. What do u suggest I should do with getting the S7 edge?
I would suggest waiting for the galaxy s7 "unlocked" international version to be available in the States.
Places like bhphotovideo.com have the page set up and ready for it. It should be a matter of short while for us to be able to purchase it free of any carrier related restrictions or bloatware. Hang in there.

Hi,
I'm interested in buying a A3 (2017) phone.
The model sold in my country (France and rest of Europe) is the a320f, however I may go to Canada next year and I want a device compatible with LTE bands from Europe and Canada. The model a320y sold in Asia and Australia is the same as a320f, except it supports a few more bands (not less), including the ones I need for Canada.
Did one of you manage to buy a different model from a shop? Do you think some shops will be able to ask Samsung to send them a different model? Otherwise, did one of you succeed in importing from other region, for not too expensive, and where did you buy it? I would like to think of importing as a last solution since there will be double tax + shipping costs…
Thanks in advance,
Galaxy A320Y 2017 dual sim
Dear Yurien
This model would be availiable in Chicago USA by the end of February, I am waiting for it as well. Here is the address for you welectronics.com
Good luck to you

Unfortunately, this website only ships within the USA.
Plus, 400 USD + shipping + border taxes is high, considering it costs 330€ in France
Is there any place to buy the A320Y? When I contacted them, welectronics said they are selling the A320F. Only markets I have come across selling A320Y so far are Chile, Mexico, Indonesia, Thailand and New Zealand. I haven't found a source to get one in the US though. I really wanted this phone for its size but if I am not able to get the A320Y I may just go for the S7 after the S8 is released.
*Also don´t forget that sometimes the Data Bands change depending in the carrier!*
A320YD
Hi to All,
I too am trying to get the famous A320Y model. It is obviously better, not only in Canada but in France too because one of the major operators, Free, is developing the LTE 4G band 28(700) which is not on the A320F models.
I contacted Samsung in France and they simply said that only the A320F is available in France and that it would not be possible to get the A320Y.
I have seen some A320Y models on sale in NZ but not in Australia. They seem to be available in Vietnam but I don't speak Vietnamese and I suspect it would be difficult to buy them without some knowledge.
The 320Y I saw on NZ sites was not the dual sim model that I want.
Any more information on this would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance!
So recently I bought the HTC U ultra International version from amazon(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X928N4G/ ). No Go. Its DOES NOT HAVE THE US or CANADIAN LTE BANDS 2, 4, 12 and 17. So anyone trying it buy it D O NOT buy it if you want to use it in the USA. Also the seller has misquoted the bands on the website. It is ALSO DUAL SIM.
The only one on Amazon that has the US LTE bands is the following. It is the SINGLE SIM MODEL. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N35POJA). I asked the seller and IT WILL WORK. So anyone buying be careful and learn from my experience.
They also charged me a 20% restocking fee for the international version saying i did not verify the correct bands before buying. If your stated LTE bands are incorrect to begin with, how can you even make that argument? Guess ive my work cut out contesting that restock fee.

Inform amazon let them deal with it, very straight forward. Misinformation is not your fault, the cheek.

Hope you get it sorted out.
I wonder if its truly a single sim model for the US market? I've got a Taiwanese model, and it is dual sim, but the second sim slot is a combo slot with microSD. since the "single" sim model also supports microsd, I wonder if the same components are actually there. would be interesting to see.
Hey OP. Not sure if you've sorted out the issue yet? I've got intl. version, with model as U-1u. Do you (or anyone else) know what the Single SIM version model number/name is?
Like the title says, what's the best place to buy unlocked international phones in US.
I also might have an option to buy while traveling to UK and looking for suggestions.
Will be using it on AT&T.
thanks!

thanks for the eye opener, now back to my question "Best place to buy Exynos version in US"
In the past, I've had the best success with well rated ebay resellers. Having ebay back your purchase is important because they are so buyer centric. If there are any issues at all, they will force paypal to refund your money. The only downside to this, is that you'll likely pay a little more - especially if you purchase right at release time.
Wonda Mobile and Expansys are also great/reputable online resellers that will surely sell the S8 and S8+. You'll pay closer to the retail price of the device (no ebay fees, price gouging, etc) and their return policies are good. That said, YOU will pay return fees back to Korea if there are issues and you're 100% at their discretion for returns/replacements/restocking fees, etc.
Hope this helps.

I got my Galaxy S7 Edge (G935F) on Amazon and was going to get the NOTE 7 EXYNOS from https://www.bhphotovideo.com/
They are a good retailer - I am hoping we can get preorder from them - (they did offer a preorder for the NOTE but it never happened because batteries started exploding before the NOTE 7 Was released.
Silly question - but why would one prefer the Exynos version over the Snapdragon? Is there a noticeable difference in performance, or some other factor?
From what I hear, the performance on the Exynos variant is better than the Snapdragon variant. Also, the SnapDragon variant has been bootloader locked as of lately (Note 7, S7, and S7 Edge) while the Exynos variants have been unlocked.
So I pre-ordered a sim unlocked s8+ through samsung's UK site. not sure if they will ship to US though

thats so naive from you..see the galaxy s7 exynos variant was unlock the past year where the s7 820 was not, what that means ?
basically means that you was not able to root any western device , but only exynos variant can... and root a device is crucial to open a lot of possibilitys like overclock
and responding to the question of this guy, basically in every latin country on america you can find the exynos variant, which is kind a weird cosidering that allways all america used the qualcomm variant in the past , and because a lot of mexicans carriers dont have the culture of wait until the oficial release of the smartphone i will expect some people to buyit long before

Canada is getting the snapdragon like the USA unfortunately.
Handtech and Clove are both reputable UK shops that many on this forum have used and recommend. Be aware if you're a first time buyer at either you may have to jump extra hoops to clear your credit card. This is normal and due to the high degree of fraud in international cell phone sales.

I know with the international S7, Samsung Pay would not work in the US. Not too worried about that, but are there any other drawbacks? Will it work on all the LTE bands for AT&T?
I think for those that really want the international version, you'll have to find overseas sites that ship to the US or get them from a reputable seller on eBay such as never-msrp. The downside, as always, to importing is a higher price and generally, no warranty. I generally get quarterly trade where if anything happens and no one fixes the phone, they'll just give a full refund of the phone price. Anyways, just make sure it says SM 950F or SM 955F. The F are the true international unlocked models. Samsung pay may now work in the US. Check out the S7 threads to see how they got pay to work in the US

You don't want them to ship it. The EU phones have region lock. To use a SIM from a country different from the phone's selling country you have to make a 5 minute call on a SIM native to the selling country on a network native to the selling country. That's why all the grey market phones on eBay are mostly from Asia.
Here's an article on it.

LTE on ATT works fine on the International Varients - the only thing missing is WIFI Calling and VOLTE - if those are big deals for you, yoiu need to stick with an ATT Phone. I haven't missed them - LTE speeds for me have always been great - I don't need WIFI Calling - and HD VOICE, well, I am not so sure it is everythign it is cracked up to be - call quality for me has been very good - so I personally am not missing anything.
I have wondered for a while if the snapdragon model in the US isn't something paid for by the NSA to be a the only US variant offered. Like more backdoors, etc built in to the Snapdragon variant. Unless there is some other obvious reason why the US gets only the Snapdragon variant.
It really doesn't matter for daily usable or noticeable performance however. Bet you'd never be able to tell which variant you were using if they were set up the same and you didn't check in the settings to cheat to see which variant it was.
