TWRP 3.0.2 hanging - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, as you probably read I'm trying to boot into my recovery TWRP 3.0.2 except it just stays on the splashscreen. For some reason i decided to factory reset my phone (it's been an incredibly long week) and I'm stuck. What do I do?
Edit: Now my phone isn't rooted for some unexplained reason. Basically how do i just get rid of it all and start from scratch because that's looking like the best option right now.
Thanks

This may work
After flashing twrp do this using fastboot
Fastboot format userdata
Fastboot format cache

7.0. Although i factory reset the phone apparently nothing was deleted and I can still use the phone normally but still no twrp

Same issue when updating to PN 7.0 from DU 6.0. Clean flash with the exception of my PN gapps failed during install. So I'm stuck with no gapps. I sideloaded a few google apps & the wont work. I have the phone back up to a usable state, but I can't sign in to my google accounts.

Flash latest twrp

After reading that I'm still kinda unclear of the directions.
Is the order
1 fastboot flash boot.IMG
2 fastboot format userdata
3 fastboot format cache
4 flash twrp
Just want to be clear before I wipe the phone. Thanks again

If you wipe the phone or update Android, when you flash TWRP you have to boot into recovery and root it before booting the system or you will always lose TWRP.
Also, you need TWRP 3.0.2-3. What are you trying to do with only those steps?

My fault. I confused myself.
My recovery is hanging up after flashing from DU 6.0 to PN 7.0. I just want to know how to get back into recovery. fastboot format all
Fastboot format cache
Fastboot flash recovery.IMG
Will that get me back into recovery?

First, did you read my first comment? You can't use the version of TWRP You are. Flash the newest one from fastboot and see if that fixes it. Beyond that, it is pretty much impossible to know what is going on in your case. If you can't boot into recovery after updating, I would fastboot flash a factory image and go back to stock and start again.

You can only recognize the phone in one of those modes at a time. In bootloader you can only use fastboot, so if you can't get into recovery you can't use ADB. So you can boot your phone normally, but you can't get into recovery? What exact steps are you using to get into recovery?
Normally I wouldn't suggest it, but have you tried one of the toolkits? I don't like them but they can be helpful.

I've tried using the phones power menu option to reboot into recovery, I've used the bootloader to try and boot into recovery and I've tried turning the phone off entirely the booting directly into recovery.
I attempted to use the fastboot flash user data route while in the bootloader but I couldn't get the phone to show up using the command prompt "fastboot devices"

My device hung when I tried to get into recovery & when i tried to flash a new recovery.img it wouldn't take. The only thing that worked for me was to
Fastboot format user data
Fastboot format cache
Flash stock Google nbd90x

HELP! - Bricked Nexus 7 3G?

So I randomly lost all cellular reception and my baseband was showing as "unknown". Did a bit of reading and decided to try to flash the radio from the google factory image using "fastboot flash radio" command.
I am now screwed. I can't access anything other than CWM Recovery, can't use adb or fastboot and am wondering how the hell I can fix this? Have I somehow completed erased the bootloader?
Help incredibly gratefully received!! :crying:
EDIT: After hours of f**king about, much to my disgust and relief in almost equal measure, switching USB ports of all things allowed me to use adb to reboot into bootloader mode from where I reflashed the factory image and all is well.

Hello your bootloader is not gone do not worry. If it was erased your nexus wouldnt boot at all.
What you need to do ia to use fastboot to flash an entire img. File from google. If you do some research youll find. If you have some trouble i can help you
When you have the img you need to do fastboot flash `image name`

[HELP]Android 4.3 Factory Image Bricked

Okay, so as soon as it was released on Google's official site, I went down and downloaded the new factory image JWR66V, and went to normally install it with fastboot. Erased all my stuff, system, cache, dalvik, userspace, everything.
Then, while flashing normally, it says Archive does not contain 'boot.sig' ; Archive does not contain 'recovery.sig' ; Archive does not contain 'system.sig' .
I tried everything, pushing a ZIP to the "SD" using ADB and a Custom Recovery, flashing Android 4.2.2 and infinite other ways, and it just doesn't work.
My phone doesn't boot, keeps looping on the Nexus logo and that's it .
If you can help, please help, I'm nearly giving up .
EDIT: Finally managed to Unbrick it after 2 Hours trying.
Used WugFresh Root Toolkit with the option "Back to stock" and used the extracted .TAR, not the .TGZ, and it came back to life, still gave me this messages, but i guess it worked flawlessly .
Thanks for everyone who tried to help me, i really appreciate it .

ADB Sideload doesn't work either .

I had the same problem after flashing without the "-w" to try to keep my data.
Moreover I wasn't able to boot CWM or CWM touch using "fastboot boot boot.img" : black screen, but with adb working.
So I flashed again with the "-w", and it worked.

the -w part is for wiping userdata, if you want to keep ur data, you might have the remove some lines in the flash script
I use mac os, so I don't have to worry about all the drivers' issues, simply fastboot and adb

Okay, one thing you could try is to go to the bootloader. Once there, click volume buttons til "recovery" is displayed. Then press power to confirm. You'll see a little android with a red sign --> press vol +, vol - and power at the same time. You'll have a little menu where you can execute a "factory reset". Press it and maybe will it be okay !

No OS Installed While Flashing Android N OTA In TWRP

So yeah I accidentally wiped my partitions as if I were installing a rom. Am I screwed until I get to a pc?
P.s. Out of all days to delete my backup rom file ?
Just set it to boot loader mode and flash stock images...I'm sure there's a tutorial on how to do it..I have the program installed on my computer ready for any time I brick my phone lol but I don't remember the name of the program right now
Edit: heres the link to the method I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3258493
I'm assuming the OP doesn't have a PC due to the last statement he made. I would say yes, nothing you can do until you can get to a PC and flash stock images via Fastboot. Unless you have a ROM zip on your phone that is....which I'm assuming you don't.
You're kinda stuck, you need a PC to flash the factory images. TWRP can't flash OTA's anyway, so don't try that again either. I'd strongly recommend not using a toolkit to flash the factory images too. I have a detailed guide here:

Hey guys, having a similar issue than zachbuilds. While rooting my nexus 6p on NRD9M, I formatted to system partition for root to stick and noticed twrp stated I have no OS installed. At that point I was going to flash stock image file when my nexus reverted from default MTP to charge only and now my Mac is unable to recognize my device Ann's now adb is non operable. I tried to fastboot adb commands but that isn't working either. Any one have any suggestions. I'm on stock with twrp custom recovery, no other changes were made to my device. Also, recovery and bootloader are accessible. Thanks for any help given.

Best just to flash back to factory images. Be cautious if you've flashed the Android N OTA though, there are some strange things going on with people trying to flash back to M. Read up before you flash.
I've actually tried flashing stock images but every time I tried to run fastboot command I get these errors, "command not found" and I believe the other erro is "file path not found". There's another error that I can't remember off the top of my head what it. When I get home I'll try to run the commands again and see what errors I get

Please post the entire command you are using, as written in your terminal prompt. "No command" sounds like an unrecognized command is being issued. We must use ./ in addition to the fastboot or adb command in order for OSX to execute the action. If following Heisenberg's guide for fastboot, the lone change you need to make for OSX is:
./fastboot devices
./fastboot flash
./fastboot reboot
./ADB devices
Try this out and post your results.

Just throwing this out there, it is possible to flash an OTA in TWRP. You still need a PC but its do-able.... I flashed Android N Final to my 6P yesterday by copying the OTA zip (uploaded thanks to another member) to SD, Wiped device as I normally would with any other ROM (left SD intact obviously), Flashed OTA ZIP, rebooted straight to bootloader after flash, fastboot erase boot, fastboot erase recovery, fastboot flashed DECRYPTED BOOT.img (which can be found easily), fastboot flashed TWRP 3.0.2-1 (version just released for N), fastboot format userdata, fastboot format cache, reboot from bootloader directly into TWRP, flashed superSU 2.74, reboot system..... Phone runs beautifully. Not a single issue. Entire process from start to finish was less than 10 minutes.
Its not the most practical route but it does indeed work. OTA just hes to contain the entire Image. I should also mention that this was a jump from a Marshmallow based rom (RR) so you don't have to be on an N preview in order to do this....

Phone stuck at boot: tried everything. i am desperate

I am no noob and have always flashed factory images and rooted phone, for years.
For the very first time today I am having a problem.
I had 7.1.2 with unlocked bootloader, twrp installed and root.
Decided to install DP3, so I first made a twrp backup and then successfully installed DP3.
Since I was having problems, I decided to restore backup from twrp> from here only problems.
Backup restored successfully but phone wouldn't boot: stuck at boot logo with 4 coloured circles spinning. Waited minutes to no avail.
Tried then everything I could: flash manually with fastboot, resetting phone from recovery, relocking bootloader, flashing again latest 7.1.2 factory images manually piece by piece with fastboot> all to no avail. Phone can boot into bootloader and into original recovery, but when I try to boot it is stuck at four spinning coloured circles. I can hear every few seconds a short vibration, but it won't boot.
Any help please?
Thanks.
The restored backup didn't have something it needed prob. Like maybe vendor. Had to be something you missed

ADB shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc.0/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/modemst1 bs=16384
and
ADB shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc.0/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/modemst2 bs=16384
but still stuck at boot

No I have no efs backup, but maybe I tried to restore using a bugged twrp version and it got corrupted so I used twrp suggestion to erase it.
Well I have downloaded latest factory image and the only images found are
fastboot flash bootloader C:\angler\bootloader-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio C:\angler\radio-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash boot C:\angler\boot.img
fastboot flash system C:\angler\system.img
fastboot flash vendor C:\angler\vendor.img
no cache and no user data
I dont care loosing data, I have a backup of docs and pics
woah I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pretty sure it was the efs corrupted
thanks anyway for the support
Just get wugfresh toolkit and do it that easy way. It'll do everything for you just follow the prompt, There's a part for flashing on a bootlooped device it will correct all the errors for you
