I know this is a Samsung S7 forum. But I think the files will be very fimilar and thus the reason I am asking here as well.
I need your guys help. I am trying to create a data fix file for Note 4 for a note 7 rom. I need some files off of a note7. I need all of the following:
all files, folders and sub files under System/CSC. all files, folders and sub files under System/Etc, all just files under System. lastly I need the file under Data/data/com.android.settings/shared_prefs/com.android.settings_preferences.xml this file
you most likely don't even need root to get these as you won't be modifying anything just copying them.
the size of the combined files should be under 10 megs zipped.
Or if anyone knows of a way I can use a stock firmware to extract files from it that would be awesome. However I have yet to find a way.
In the note 4 sprint forums we are having a hell of a time trying to get the note 7 roms to work on the note 4 for SMS, MMS, DATA, Phone calls. this would help out a ton if someone can do this for me.
Thank you guys.
I REALLY REALLY need Customer.xml and Others.xml ASAP however I really need the rest as well

Hey guys,
I am trying to get my photos from my s3 onto my Nexus 4, while keeping the modify time correct, so the Gallery displays them in the correct order. All methods I've tried so far result in the modify time being set to the create time.
I pulled them from the s3 with adb, corrected the MTIME using jhead (linux), and tar'd them up with the MTIME preserved.
I've yet to find a way I can extract this tar onto the phone without it losing the MTIME. I've tried many different apps that can deal with archives, none have the option to keep it. Trying to extract the tar on the command line results in an archive magic error, or similar (not at my phone now).
With the s3 this was easy due to the external SD card, but I can't for the life of me find a way to do this here. I tried QuickPic's fix dates feature but it doesn't correct the dates
Anyone have any ideas?
I don't know how it happened, but it appears that I have somehow changed the path that contains the ringtones. I was looking for them out of curiosity. Now, whenever I try to bring up ringtones, I get a directory listing of /storage/emulated/0. I can probably reset it properly, but I don't know they actually reside. I don't have root access, and I'm afraid that may be a problem in resetting the path. I'm thinking that's why a search with ES File Explorer can't find them, (or maybe I'm not searching for the correct extension). Can anyone offer any guidance?
I would be grateful for any suggestions.
Regards,
pb
Can't help you without root access. The correct path is:
/system/media/audio/ringtones
Edit* In doing some looking. Were you trying to add more ringtones? The folder you gave seems to be the downloads folder. Ringtones you add maybe be in another folder. For example it could be ...../emulated/ringtones
Another example would be any folder in your usable internal storage will come after the emulated/

Hello guys, i figured that when i bought my S4, that have like 10 folders in the "/" folder. but now i see some others folders like, data_1, data_2 and some others, there is a way to clean stock folders, or someone that gimme the stock folder structure for delete the others? Idk why, if its ROM or another App that creates it...
Thanks guy!
Hi Everyone,
I already copied all my ringtones off my Note 3 into a folder on my laptop. After I tested a ROM I didn't like I went back to stock and copied all the ringtones back to my Ringtones folder on my Note 3, they all worked fine. I then liked the look of Resurrection Remix ROM and put that on. Did a full wipe and everything has been ok except I can't copy my ringtones back to the Note. This is where it gets weird for me. They are showing up on the Note under File Expert but if I plug the Note into my laptop they are not showing up in the Ringtones folder, it's empty except for the 2 Hangouts files. If I try and copy them back to the Note an error pops up saying cannot copy and that's it. Anyone offer any advice?
TIA
AFAIK, ringtones folder are system folder files.
Any files belongs to system nd root, won't be shown up on pc or laptop. No need to say about copying files into it.
U need to do it on ur note with root explorer or something similar.

I am rooted m8, I've been copying files too and from my Note 3 without any issues for months, my galaxy nexus which I had for 2 years allowed me to do the same, so why has it suddenly stopped? The only thing I can narrow it down to is the custom rom, looks like I'll be going back to stock just to check that's the case. Thanks for the reply
Well I was trying to follow the instructions from here to turn off the auto conversion from sms to mms whenever you enter an emoji. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2472009&page=5
Long story short I ended up with a non-functioning SMS app, and I accidentally deleted my backapp while I was moving things around. SO I guess what I'm asking is if people can give me a copy of there SecMms.apk for kitkat 4.4.2 (Ive tried adding previous versions but that doesn't seem to work). It should be located at the system/priv-app (you have to be rooted to access it). Thanks guys.

I'm using the stock Samsung n9005XXUEND6. I don't know how to extract it from the rom, If you can point me to a simple guide and a little more instructions that would help a lot. Or if you have a compatible SecMms.apk that would really make my day.
Factory reset is not an option for me, as I have not made any backups, and I have too many apps and setting for me to wipe my entire phone.

you can copy the rom to your desktop, and just copy it out... you need rootexporer or esfilemanager with root access, so you can copy it back to system/jpriv-app,
if you look on my signature, I have a thread in the dev section, on Samsung galaxy note 3 and tmobile note 3....
I have the roms for various N9005 phone... and the firmwares....
okay, I had to rar the file, it has the secmms.apk and secmms.odex if your using stock rom... both the files are in there... :good:

Thank you! This worked perfectly! And also another thanks for actually telling me about ES filemanager. I've always used it, but never knew it could access root files. Thank you very much.
