SIM and SD Card - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone tell me if the portion of this video starting at 2:05 is true? Seems too good to be true. I only have one SIM and don't want to ruin it to try.

It's a fake... Lol
Although since launch there's people talking about dual sim, but sdcard not a chance... for sure.

I watched the video. That hack only works for devices that have the choice of a second sd card OR sd card.

Sd card unexpectedly removed

Hi everyone just got my note 3 two weeks ago and I bought a 32gb sd card
Suddenly today every time I would lock the phone and when I would unlock it,it would take about 3 seconds for the lock screen to appear and I would always get the message "sd card removed"
Is there any fix to this yet?
I used the app wake lock in partial lock mode and that seemed to work but I don't like the fact that the cpu keeps running

Take out and reinsert the card...most likely card problem. Or you could have also bought one of the fake sd cards floating around on ebay.
Teleported from my SM-N9005 from the Enterprise
I tried that and it did not work, I tried a different sd card and it worked fine
Also it reads well on a pc so I don't understand
I did not buy the sd card from eBay ..I got it from best buy, it's a lexar high speed 32gb micro sd hc class 10 card

Samsung phones seem to hate a lot of SD Cards, There is threads and threads of people posting about memory card issues. Seems you have a card that Samsung doesn't like working with.
Even people who have Samsung sd cards have this issue
It's really disappointing cause I take a lot of pictures and was hoping for the extra space. Guess the 32 gb the device has should be enough
Unless anyone else has any advice

Either format it via the menu on the phone, Or plug into the SD Adaptor (should have got one with the card?) - connect to PC and choose it on My PC option, right click choose format and pick file system,
Ok I switched it from fat32 to exfat
Seems to be working for now, I'll keep my fingers crossed

We had same thing on mine and my wife's Galaxy S3, we would start getting messages about card being removed unexpectedly few times and then we had both cards (different size and maker) dead within one day. One card I was able to reformat the other one nothing can recognize. I strongly suspect it's Samsung fault, we used both cards in Nokia's for 2 yrs without one error. Do a search and you will see many posts on this subject with different cards. Was kind of hoping Note 3 won't have this issue. Also, I never had another card fail in many yrs of using different digital cams and other devices. My solution is simple: I save pics and video to internal memory, when that gets crowded I do full back up to external HDD and then transfer to SD card to have it for show. All music and movies are on external SD, but are fully backed up as well. In other words I expect SD card to fail at any time, but all it's fine so far, I think our GS3's took about 9-10 months to fail the cards.
Check LOST.DIR, if there is anything there you already lost some files and the card begins to be corrupted and it only will get worse.
The main trick here is to always have a backup, so nothing important is lost forever and frankly that's a good idea with any data and any device.

storing apps on an external card

Hi
Does anyone know if you can transfer apps to the sd card? Can't decide whether to wait for a 32gb version or get the 16gb one which seems much more available right now.
Thanks

Sadly you can't. It would only be possible if rooted. That's the only thing about the tablet I don't like

Just insert 128gb micro sd and you are sorted
as far as I know kitkat won't let you unless you are rooted and with exposed madule it's possible otherwise no..

I had the option of dual vs. single and that consideration is what made me decide to go with the single version. The dual sim would be useful once in a while, but not nearly often enough to justify the extra hassle.

For me single Sim version was out of stock, with no clue for how long. So I took the dual.
Regret it because the lack of kernel (though hopefully I can figure out how to build one) but like it because the SD CARD isn't on the SIM tray (meaning I don't have to mess with the SIM to change SD cards)

I took an Dual Sim Variant, because the single one was pretty expensive in my country and why not take dual sim for free?
Only Reason went for the Z5 Dual was because the standard Z5 was not being sold from where i bought it
Count me in. Dual Gold since December. Trying hard living without root.
Can't understand why the dual runs a different setup to the single. It strikes me that it would have made more sense for Sony to develop their setup for dual radios by default, with a switch to turn off handlers for the second radio in the single SIM model. I assumed I'd be able to find root, but it's not happening.
They must sell tens of thousands of these in the east, no-one there wants root? Seriously?

Different drivers for the SD card slot. You can use at least some single Sim kernels, with the loss of the SD card.
Having unused drivers can slowdown the phone, so Sony seems to be trying to ensure the best user experience by keeping unused drivers out of the kernel.

What's different about the SD card? From looking at videos it seems to be in the same location even.

It's moved off the SIM card tray (to make room for the second SIM card). So the SIM reader and the SD card reader both have to be different.

Fair enough, I thought the sim card tray was just expanded in the single sim version. The flaps look the same size.
In hindsight, I still don't get how the SD card is relevant. An SD card driver is an SD card driver, the location of the card should be irrelevant. Ditto a radio driver.
The only thing that would be different programmatically would be the handlers for the 2nd SIM, which requires some UI and logic changes for call and SMS handling. Again though, these would be programmatic. And not all that significant. Creating a whole separate firmware for it still seems a bit mad to me.
I have to wonder if it's just Sony trying to frustrate outside development.
I have xperia z5 e 6683 since November.
Battery is worse than xperia z3 d6683 also dual sim.

The sd card has been explained. Try reseating your card because it's only supposed to show when toy beset the card (so it's showing because it thinks you keep inserting a card).
Not sure about utorrent

It is supposed to show when you reboot, or if you remove the card. If it keeps showing after you clear it, something is causing it to remount (the phone thinks it has been removed and reinserted).
Right it is SUPPOSED to do it after a reboot...

Best 128 GB SD card for mi A1

Hello
I want to buy a 128 Gb SD card
What is a good and fast sdcard?

Sorry because I bumped this, but I've the same question.
I want to know which 128GB MicroSD fits the best in terms of quality and performance, with Mi A1.
Thanks!

I'm currently using a Sandisk Class 10 and it's quite good, but it's over 1 year old, there maybe better version out there. However, note that Mi A1 does not support 128GB sd card by default, you have to format it with the phone or install a kernel that supports Exfat. The only kernel working for me is Canting, I tried others like Moun or Extreme but neither of them worked.

You're trying to say that 128gig SD cards are supported only if formated to exFat right? Because according to GSMarena 128 gig cards are supported by default. I've also read that even 256 gig cards are supported.

I'm using 128GB Sandisk Extreme Pro V30 A2. It improves 4k recording. Also, I didn't have to format, I'm using it right out of the box.

Yeah, that's what I mean. To me, "support" means plug it in and it works without doing anything else. This is the only thing I hate with Mi A1, supports 128gb sd cards but do not support Exfat.

Thanks, friend. I've read a little around, but I found some interesting questions... and reported bugs.
1) Some people says our device should be able to support up to 2TB because of its technology, however 128GB was told because it was the standard in that moment.
2) Other people says SDcard size is reporting wrong size and free space (telling that Oreo and Pie is reporting the double of the real size of those cards).
So, my idea is to know what's the true around this, if this is a problem related to the type/category of the SDcard itself, or if this is related only to Stock ROM (Don't know if this is happening on custom ROMs also).
I don't know what causes that bug, but I also want to know what's the true maximum size Mi A1 allows, and under which conditions.
I want to buy a large sized SDcard, trying to reach the limit that device allows, but I can't try it before buying it ($$$$)
My idea is to keep it as internal storage, unless you have a better idea.
Thanks in advance!

From what I read, the double bug only happen when the card is used as internal storage.
Is the size bug happening only with cards bigger than 128GB or also 128? Because if bigger sdcards cause issues, I would save myself the money and just buy 64GB or something.

I read it happens with any size, but I don't know if those reports come from stock or custom ROMs exclusively.
