Android 7.1 Developer Preview - Nexus 5X General

Google released the Android 7.1 Developer preview for the Nexus 5X device.
Android Developers
You can enroll your eligible device in the Android beta program to get it on the developer preview or grab the system images here and flash them manually.

So far seems really really smooth, loving the transition animations during setup.

How's the camera for all of you?
Having problems here with the auto ISO on the camera, running ElementalX kernel.
Edit: Yep, confirmed, 7.0 custom kernels cause camera problems on 7.1.1

Has anybody testeed root methods or twrp on 7.1 yet? Figured I would ask before I tried it.

I did and everything was working just fine until I tried flashing a tweak to make the nav bar look like the pixel. it sucks because now I will have to go back and redo everything I just did. installing twrp worked, rooting worked, installing the pixel launcher worked, changing the build prop to enable google assistant worked just not the mod to change the nav bar.

Just so everyone knows NexusRootToolkit by Wugfresh works like a charm

Has anyone tried altering your build.prop to get Assistant working?

Yes it worksjist like it did on 7.0. I used the flashable zip method.

Another quick question,
I downloaded from here:
https://developer.android.com/preview/download.html#top
to get a .zip file. Do in install this in TWRP? I was expecting to have to use NRT.

Yes u can use it. But device may reboot while installing. If it rebooted: Don't do any wipes, just re-run installation!

No you download it on your PC and put your phone in fastboot then run the flash all.bat file and it does everything for you

I am stock rooted on 7.0. I am guessing I can't install the OTA ?

I can't get twrp to work. It keeps wanting to decrypt and it still won't read my storage if I am decrypted. I tried 3.0.2.1, 2.2, and 2.3

How do I remove TWRP recovery?

I just got my second hand Nexus 6p and the bootloader came unlocked and TWRP is installed.
The updates don't work when TWRP is installed so I want to go back to the stock recovery.
How can I achieve that?
Build number: MMB29P
Android 6.0.1
January 2016 patch.
twrp has nothing to do with not being able to take an update.

How to go about updating Nexus 6p angler-MMB29P(root/twrp) to MHC19I

My Nexus 6P is rooted and running Android Marshmallow (6.0.1) (supposed to be systemless but not sure anymore)
I have unlocked the bootloader and have twrp as my recovery.
I have exposed framework with some modules installed and working (notification bar clock now shows the seconds and stuff like that....)
So I recently got my Nexus 6p and the first thing I did was root and install twrp via adb and fast boot so I could use exposed framework. I would like to know what my options are in receiving ota updates? I have the Android security patch from January 1, 2016 and I just got an Android system update notification that includes a newer security patch from February and I'm not sure if I can get a specific ota that is flashable through twrp or if I'll need to back up my stuff and flash stock or if there's an easier way to do this because I'd prefer to not have to set up everything all over again.
If you need me to provide any further information about my device just tell me.
---
I'm currently on build MMB29P and I have checked the Google dev page on Factory Images for Nexus Devices
And apparently MHC19I is the newest.
use flashfire

I have all the OTA zips listen in my index. As previously mentioned you can use Flashfire to flash them without having to undo your modifications.
But with flashfire you will still lose all of your modifications like xposed apps? You have to redo it all? Anyone have a direct link to the new feb security update?

I've used flash fire back on my s4 so this is good but
Should I disable my exposed modules before I flash with flash fire as i can also reinstall exposed along with the ota? It's my First time using exposed because my s4 has a locked bootloader.

Downloaded modules should stay intact. However, I am not sure if the OTA update has library changes, that may affect Xposed installation. Anyhow, simply flashing the Xposed Installer zip will suffice.

No need to thank, just add this to your knowledge for future reference. That will be more than enough for me.
Which security patch are you talking about, specifically? The latest Google factory image as of now, contains the March security update. You can read a more detailed article here: https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2016-03-01.html

Ok i just used flashfire to update with the image file. Made sure to follow the instructions and even got it to flash xposed for me after.
It all went smoothly. But upon reboot it looked like it was doing an android app update but it stopped and everything seems like it was before. The security update didnt work. Still says january.

Yes. You will need to pick MHC19I factory image, and extract the system.img from it. Flash it, and also the vendor.img too.
Every thing worked out I had downloaded the most recent build and exposed installer flashed through flash fire everything seems good so far.

Picking the current build is simply reflashing it. To update, you will need to flash the system.img from the latest factory image.

I'd love to hear from anyone who was previously on a CM13 ROM and then installed COS13. Do you notice any performance differences? Any notable user-facing features in COS13 that are not present in CM13? Basically is there any real reason for people like me to go back to stock and get this update?
I should mention that I am running the latest build of Sultanxda's CM13 ROM (0404).

Flash an older version of 12.1 (not the latest 12.1.1), let it update to the latest 12.1.1, then manually update the ota to 13... Or edit the updater script to skip checks for release keys..

onyone can create zip for twrp?
Just finished setting up my phone after a complete clean flash (fastboot 12.1.1 + sideloading the update) and I gotta say that it feels really snappy so far. Noticed some new strange included apps, Instagram Content, Twitter Content and Discovery. I guess the Instagram and Twitter apps have something to do with the lock screen, but I've disabled them. I have no idea what Discovery does, so if anyone has a guess I'd love to hear it.
The most interesting thing will be battery life, but my verdict on that will have to wait until I've tested it for a couple of days.

Easy Way to Root Android 7?

Is there any easy way to root Android 7 right now? I want to add viperFX because the speaker on my phone is whack as well as maybe test out a few kernels (is Franco still any good? Haven't used one of his kernels since the N4 days). Also I'm not sure if rooting will help but is there also a way to add 60fps recording weather that's 1080p or 4k?
Any help is much appreciated!
Thank you and happy flashing
