so went on a vacay with my sis last week and noticed that on her S6 she can simply say "capture" to take a selfie (perhaps a regular picture too?).
can we do that with the 6p camera? i don't see an option for it. if not, is there another camera that can be installed that has this function?
thanks for the info!
FWIW, S5 also has this. Camera app > Settings > Voice Control
"Smile, Cheese, Capture, Shoot" "Record Video"
LOL ive had mine for 2 years and never used it. dang that will help with my awful selfies.

I tried to take a picture to a document in a completly dark place , and I couldn´t focus, i tried with default sense camera, camera zoom and camera 360, in my previous phone, samsung i900 it switch on the flash while focus an then took the picture.. i cant do it with hd2.. any help will be highly appreciated..
t seems that anyone ere likes to take pictures in the dark)
Yeah i know where your coming from, anywhere it's very dark or very bright it's impossible to see when your trying to focus,i was on the beach today with my son and taking some snaps of him playing and i couldn't see with the sun but thankfully the photos turned out ok but with my old digital camera i was able to see a lot more.
Just take the picture. The flash will come on and the picture will be able to be seen.
This is something I was stuck at too. Normally, on a phone with flash, in the dark, trying to focus would temporarily activate the flash to let the phone see where to focus, and then fix the focus on the spot and shoot the picture.
My HD2 won't do that. Just one of the little things no one thought of.
use the torch app widget to flick the torch on, it will; stay on when you jump to camera and focus will work.

Thank you nice idea, I already used two torch widgets but one of them switches off ad soon i hit the shutter and the other doesn't allow the camera to work while its on.. what torch app are you using?

pro-hdr-camera has a torch option in the flash settings which keeps the led on so you can focus in complete darkness, bought it just for that feature. also take pretty decent shots.

I would like to know if there are any solutions out there to prevent the stock camera from flipping/reversing photos taken with the front facing camera. I know there are alternative camera apps that have the option enabled however I prefer the stock camera app due to its quality and functionality with the 6P
Just wondering if there were any mods, apps, editing tricks or work arounds to prevent android from reversing photos taken with the front facing camera.. Its pretty inconvenient to manually edit and flip them myself.
So you want them to stay backwards? Mine shows them as mirrored or backwards in the viewfinder, but are flipped to be "normal" when I view the photo afterwards.

Correct! I would like them as they appear in the view finder.

I hate it too. I saw the image I capture in my view finder only to look at it on my laptop and I'm like ummmmmm what's this

I have this too on my Nexus 6P and Oneplus One, really hate it. There is no option to disable it, so I would like to have an (root needing) app or a xposed module to fix this. Anyone?
Nexus 6P selfie reverse
Hello Everyone, I am facing trouble with selfie (Nexus 6P), the images are in mirrored mode. I tried to reverse the photos, but no luck. I hope everyone got the settings already, just reiterating. When I am taking selfie with my Nexus 6P. The image showing as reverse but when I goto gallery it is storing as original( Not mirrored). So I am picking the photos from gallery and sending my dear ones.
Thank you so much

Has anyone noticed how the front facing camera on snapchat is zoomed in?
Same on Beta

This is happening on the Beta as well (v 10.6.6.0). I also noticed that the send button is mostly covered when choosing more than one person.

Ya I noticed that too. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Hopefully they'll fix that soon.
A fix
I have the same issue.

I'm having the same issues here but I was feeling the same way when I use the default camera. Seems like the angle is wider on my S7 than on my S8
I don't think its technically "zoomed" in. If you compare what you see in Snapchat to default camera, you will notice that you still see the same amount of vertical image. But because of the 18.5:9 screen ratio and the way Snapchat works, it crops off a lot of the side image. Same goes for the back camera. And yes, S7 and S6 have much wider front facing camera, it was probably reduced to fit in the focusing mechanisms.
I've noticed if you view Snaps with a 16:9, the top and bottom will be letter boxed. Where as my friends who have also an S8, will fill the full screen.
Hopefully Snapchat will include a way for you to pick a screen ratio, but i doubt it.

Damn, I would take the wider aperture over the auto focus any day.
I'm glad i'm not the only one having issues putting doggo filters on selfies

yea you can definitely tell the difference. i usually just take a normal photo and then use snapchat and select from gallery
I've also noticed this. I hope they fix it. It really annoys me?
Yeah the option to opt out of full screen crop mode is greyed out! I hate the S8 cropping out my pictures and other peoples pictures
I'm having this same problem and it's driving me NUTS. It makes me not want to use snapchat anymore. Grrrrrr.
Horrible hope they fix this!! I don't need close ups of every pore showing up on my face in Snapchat.
Its also pretty annoying where sometimes you can't swipe out of a story (swipe up to get the soft keys to show and then back) as swipe up from the bottom is also "chat" within Snapchat.
My instagram does this too!!! So frustrating. I have to use my normal camera on my s8 and then use the gallery option to edit it on Instagram . I hope it gets sorted!
This is awful, I've had the phone a few weeks and as soon as I used snapchat I noticed how close it seemed to my face, every single pore! What the hell is that about!
Its November now and you guys noticed it earlier in the year.. I'm guessing there is no fix
Hello,
this thread is actually nothing special, I've just found some settings to get good results out of these Gcam apks and I'd like to share them here.
This is tested on the latest Stock Pie (10.0.2.0) and it works on my device.
So, first of all you have to enable Camera2API obviously (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/how-to-enabling-cam2-gcam-android-t3868766), but I think you're all familiar with that at this point.
Download one of these apks: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bsg/
(I'm on the latest one) or if you prefer an Arnova version based on MGC by BSG (No PixelMod).
After that go into settings->BSG MOD settings.
Input Model: Set "Interface Style" to "Pixel II" (there are some focus issues with Pixel III), "Back Camera" to "Pixel 3 XL", "Front Camera" to "Nexus 6P" and "Config" to "Pixel2018 ZslR Hdr+"
FIX: Set "RAW Format" to "RAW10(default)" (this should already be set), "Image Format" to "YUV_420_888 (default)" and enable "Enable Motion" if you're into motion photos.
After that close the app, clear its cache and start it again.
If you experience some FC, try to clear again the cache and restart the app.
Now you should get a fairly stable Gcam with good performance, at least this is the best I've tried so far.
Portrait mode, HDR+, HDR enhanced and HDR OFF all work, burst photos work, Motion photos work, Night mode work, front camera works, panoramic works.
The only broken thing is Slow Motion.
The Camera will crash if you try to take a picture with Flash and HDR+ on OFF, but to me it's not a big deal since I never turn it off unless I want to take a burst. Anyway if you set "Pixel2018 Zsl Hdr+" in "Config" you should get this to work as well, but you'll lose Motion Photos. it's up to you here.
So that's it, if you find any better Setting, please share it
Sorry for maybe hijacking the post but i was using a gcam for nokia 7 plus which has the same 660 chip found here https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-backrider/ . I found it to be really stable too except 4k which doesnt work.

No hijack, don't worry!
I'm trying it and it works mostly fine, but it looks like it FC a bit more often than the BSG version (maybe it's just an impression of mine).
Anyway the main think I dislike about the non-BSG versions is that you can't select "Pixel II" as the interface and you lose tap to focus, which makes the app completely unusable to me.

This one should work with Video.
Only HDR+ need some time till shutter and sometimes all other apps crash in the Background during processing of HDR+ / Portrait or Nightsight pictures.
As addition it's the only camera I know on Nokia 5 which captures videos in 4k...
Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, this is not the right camera. For the one I remember, the labels were not changed, only the round element was of a different color. That one is the camera lens on the label.
Didn't works for me
