As a first time phone rooter, I read for several days on end through this and other forums, acquiring the knowledge to hack my streak. I was finally ready and successfully put Gingerstreak 2.4.4 on my Dell Streak 5 from stock Rogers/Canada following all the recommended procedures. Yahoo!
Used options in install file:
stageui
us160
It seemed to be fine at first, but got progressively worse. i.e., rebooting, freezing, choppy, sleep of death and huge battery drain issues. (the common problems) Then after a few days it was pretty much totally unreliable. I tried Green Power and a task killer app to no great avail. So I decided to put a more stable version on the phone. I had planned on putting the [ROM] [INTL] [WIP] DSC v0.62b on the phone and began to follow the great instructions in that post.
At some point I read it was required/recommended to move all my apps to the phone so I could keep them. I went ahead and did that and right away my phone stopped lagging. I waited a half day longer and no more rebooting issues. The battery would be at 60% or better by 5pm as opposed to almost dead. It's been 3 days now and it runs pretty darn snappy, solid and reliable. I do get a 4-5 minute SOD (sleep of death) after (some) disconnections from charging cable, but that seems to be it. I will now begin moving the apps back to the SD card (one or two a day) to see how it affects the operation of the unit.
Just thought someone would like to know...
Solved 99% of the WAIT/FC popups and 5-10 second freezes for me as well. I'm still on SimpleStreak 1.2 with PerfUpdate. Thanks brainsquishy!
Your welcome krazman325.
By the way...I put about 6 of my apps back onto the SD card to see what happened. It immediately began to act up again. Moved them back and I'm OK. I guess until someone has a fix for that, all my apps will have to stay off the SD card until I move to the DSC release.
Regards...
Awesome idea!
Fixed most of my issues (phone was freezing whenever I tried to install apps, but only a quick reboot to the boot image screen).
Thanks much!
I was hoping this would help, but even with half uninstalled and the other half moved to phone, I'm still getting freezes, restarts and now today (after working with no problems for about 24 hours, it's got into reboot cycle and won't recover).
I'm going to have to try another ROM as this clearly isn't working for my Streak.
Who'd think they could be so different?!
So which ROM is next best then?
Ok. I've searched all over and have found a thread with a similar problem with no responses. I hope this gets some help. I have a Verizon G2, and ever since the Lollipop update, my battery life has been pretty awful (sometimes less than 2 hours of SOT in 8 hours of battery time), and the performance is horrendous at times. some apps (facebook Messenger especially) will stop when I am using them. No crash report. They just close out of nowhere. Nova Launcher redraws almost every time I hit my home button, sometimes my phone gets ridiculously hot. There are times when Android system restarts, and I lose the navbar and status bar, leaving my phone quite useless for a couple minutes. I do not have a task killer This all happened on 100%stock unrooted
I read something similar happened with the 5.0 release on nexus devices and was related to a memory leak. I have read in ROM threads that the G2 does not have this memory leak.
Things I have tried.
Frequent reboots - Hit or miss temporarily. Sometimes it would reboot into lag and restarting apps
Frequently clearing running apps - sometimes helped for a few hours or so
Factory reset-helped for a couple days
Rooting and installing xposed with the "lollipop Memory leak fix module"-maybe helped for a day? no significant change
Installed a XDABBEB's stock based ROM with TiBu and without =same result - butter for the first few days, but the apps restarting is always there. Then it gradually loses its smoothness and all the problems begin again.
Is this not a common issue? Anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking of going CM, but I really like LG's floating apps and such. I'd rather stay with stock. They just seem to work better as well.
When it works, it is awesome. I don't think there is any reason to get a new phone as this one still has great hardware. I'm just frustrated. My phone always worked amazingly on kitkat, but Lollipop seems to have ruined it.
Hello,
I have a stock Moto X force for about 20 months.
I've been suffering from lagging lately (sometimes it takes a few seconds when trying to switch between apps or the keyboard becomes unresponsive). I think it got worse after the 7.0 update.
I've downloaded an app for system monitoring and I've noticed that at times of lag the internal disk activity is maxed (Read & Write are 100% (not sure exactly what that means)) (Can't add attachments). But, cpu performance and ram usage seems fine. I assume some app is causing this but have no suspects at the moment. How should I continue my debug from here ?
Thanks
Hello Juvesss,
Exactly the same phone with the same problem since one week ago... If you solved it please explain me, this is a pain!
No OS upgrade was involved in my case, I have Nougat since a long ago.
Cache wipe did not help. Limiting background processes to 3 helped just a little (developer menu).

I've been noticing this problem too.
Not sure what the cause is.
I've factory reset and that seems to fix the problem for awhile, but it seems to come back over time.
Something in the stock rom must be cluttering the phone.
Dear roweboat56,
It happened to me after 12 months of having it, so for my experience it is not so frequent. How often happened it to you? (To understand better how long will I "enjoy" the factory reset solution...)
Move to a custom rom!
I faced that issue too! The last update was buggy maybe..and the moto services and rest apps by moto are eating a lot of ram and using a good amount of I/O
.
Try this rom by me (on the latest 7.1.2 build with 5th February 2018 security patch)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo-2/general/lineageos-14-1-build-7-1-2-heating-t3757565
Change battery profile to power save, and see the magic
No heating at all!

Hm I noticed after maybe 2 months of use or so?
Im on Latest Stock FW Android N ,using the device since 8months and not find any lag, in my case it lacks a bit when heated a lot.
I didnt disable any of the Moto Services though.
Try using Greenify if it solves the issue. I will not unlock my phone till it gets 14-15month old and see whether the same happens to me
It is strange... In my case the phenomenon suddenly disappeared some weeks ago, so I think some system update messed it all and later another update solved it. I have the impression it was a system problem and not a particular app, because I tried to uninstall the more suspicious apps without appreciating any change.
After the oreo update my phone is laggy and overheating quite often. Battery drains much faster in use, but lasts more on standby.
All the above with typical use FB, instagram, chrome etc no games.
I know I can hard reset my phone but this is great inconvenience with all the banking apps etc.
Already cleared the cached memory, and restarted the phone
I just think it's a bit too much for a one year old flagship device to be that laggy. It was not that fast to begin with but now it's going out of hand. And it is not normal to require a full wipe because of an update, since that makes sense only for us here in XDA but not for the rest of the world.
Anybody with the same problems or suggestions??

I'm already on Oreo and no problems so far without factory reset (updated via LG bridge, OTA always gave me these problems like you are facing right now). This behavior is usually caused by some installed app and not by OS itself. So try to uninstall all unnecessary apps, anyway I guess you can't avoid factory reset in your case...
I also did the update with the bridge, and i am on the hunt for the guilty app!
Apparently I am the only one!
No you are not alone. When Oreo was released, i used flashable .zip (i wiped all partitions including data in TWRP beforehand) and i was experiencing exactly same problems. Sometimes after restarting the phone there was no cell signal at all and i had to restart it once again. But the biggest problems were lag, really noticable lag and battery drain.
I said that can't be right and:
Downloaded Oreo KDZ
Factory reset phone
Flashed KDZ
Manually wiped all partitions (cache, dalvik, system, boot, data) while in Fastboot
Back into download mode and flashed KDZ once again
After going through all this my phone is snappy once again and battery lasts up to two days when I'm not using it too much.
I had Problems, too. I was on Fulmics 4.2 and first tried to install the Oreo ZIP via TWRP. Phone was lagging alot afterwards. I used LGUP and the KDZ next, thereby factory resetting my phone. Everything was snappy afterwards, no overheating or battery drain. I installed TWRP (3.1.1, since 3.2.1 didn't work) via fastboot and flashed Magisk 16.0. Boom, Phone was lagging all over the place, and battery drained fast. Flashed KDZ via LGUP again (Upgrade, not Refurbish), thereby loosing root, but - Phone was snappy, no battery drain.
For the time being, i keep using Oreo unrooted, since i like the new Features, and hope the xpirt will publish a new Version of Fulmics ROM.

When you say "overheating", how many ?
For me since Oreo, I find that the phone heat a little for minor activities : web browsing, whatsapp, switching between different apps... For me the "heating" begins when I can feel a hot point near the fingerprint sensor. By GSam battery monitor, phone is arround 33°.
The max I reached is about 38-40°, especially when I charge the phone with quick charge.
edit : just watching 5min of youtube video with 4G, @480p => 36°
edit 2 : https://www.notebookcheck.net/LG-G6-Smartphone-Review.199364.0.html#toc-emissions
according to notebookcheck, on Nougat it should not exceed 34 degree maximum on max load, and 38 degree when charging
No problems at all here
I also have problems, I installed oreo with TWRP, and since the update, the sound bug and the phone is very slow, after 5 minutes everything becomes normal, but it warms up quickly and the battery is discharging more quickly, otherwise there were improvements, the camera takes a better picture and we lose less battery standby
Usually after a rom flash the phone need about a day to settle down and things became stable.

No, I already had the same issues with Nougat!
Now I bought an OP6 so bye bye forever LG!
Well, inhad to make a clean install by resseting the phone.it was just unusable! The last drop when when I tried to switch cameras from front to back and it just got stuck in between the two.had to wait 25-30 sec for that!
Let the phone settle for some time.

Mine was misbehaving like that for over 3 days. That's something else.
No issues here at all. Got Oreo via OTA on 23 May, despite my unlocked bootloader, otherwise stock. Snappy, normal battery life, can get 2 days out of it with moderate use (native res, WiFi/BT on, Location on high precision, sync on, logs off). Your lag/heat/drain issues don't occur on stock so I doubt it's LG's fault. More likely due to rogue apps or your config.

your case is better my phone is warm and battery drain even we it is ideal after i update to Oreo
After the factory reset, it is much better! It was never as fast an 1+ is but still it's ok. So fat not many issues
I suggest you making sure its a full install (even if it's a dirty flash from kdz rather than OTA...) and rctd disabled if you root
should i debloat in oreo?

so... i have to flash oreo twice?
I got 2 Zenfone 5's. One is for general serious stuff, like whatsapp, work, etc and the other for gaming and experiments
Since I heavily modded my second phone, SOME apps started to not work on it, like PUBG Lite and Helix Jump. It crashes immediately as soon as i open it.
Could someone help me fix this problem, so these and other apps work again?
Some play store apps installs and works fine, others don't.:crying:
Tried clearing cache and data and reinstalling system. None worked.
I JUST flashed ViperOS, and also the battery drains a lot, which I think causes the freezings almost everytime there's 50 - 60 percent.
