Screen dead - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I own a Galaxy S5 (g900F) and wanted to open it because it has been making issues lately. It first began with broken sensors and main microphone (installed new roms several times, no change), then more recently it started to turn off as soon as it was bent slightly, taking it out of my jeans pocket was enough to let it turn off. Since a couple days it also happens randomly and then it doesn't start and sticks at the "Galaxy S5 G900F - Powered by android" screen. I have to let it restart for a couple minutes until it finally boots up.
Because of this and some loose part inside the phone (it was the camera) I opened up the phone but now the screen doesn't turn on, not even at all. While taking the phone apart I accidently cracked the LCD-display a bit, though I don't know if a crack in the LCD means completely death of the whole screen. Do you know more about this?
Thanks for your time and kind regards

i do know that u need a new phone, if the screen is cracked it might not work or the touch screen too

"Half-bricked" trinity after lcd broke - bootloader still working

Hello,
I'm facing the following situation:
I droped my Trinity and the LCD broke on the left side pretty bad. It booted fine after that (the LCD was still visible on the right side) but after 10-15 seconds it just froze. The hardware buttons were not working, nor the touch commands. I could only rest the phone with the stylus.
I successfully replaced the LCD by myself and now I'm stuck with the freeze. I was hoping the freeze will disappear but I have the same symptoms as before.
I tried a hard-reset but after that the phone froze during the booting process with the logo on the screen.
I entered the bootloader and connected the phone to the PC. It worked just fine and the freeze didn't occur anymore. I uploaded a new ROM but again, during the booting process I got the goddamn freeze.
I was hoping that everything beside the LCD survived the crash but I'm starting to have second thoughts.
I would appreciate any advice or hints on how to find what could cause my problem.
Thanks
If its freezing up on you then I would imagine you've caused some hardware damage.
Like you, I would have hoped that replacing the broken LCD woudl fix it, but there's nothing to say you havent partially damaged or dislodged something else, especially if it was a high-impact drop...
PS
I wouldnt try doing any more uploads to it either if I were you. If it freezes up during one of those then you could end up trashing the program area of your device too!...
Hi guys,
I had quite the same problem, without braking the lcd but anyway it fellt from a airplane onboarding bridge :-( and then it has started to randomly freeze.
I think I may have found something. I've noticed that when I press strongly the battery it's not freezing anymore!
I've opened the phone and saw that under the little metalic protection's plate there were a contact plate between a little black component and this metallic protection'splate. I've cleaned it, apply some thermal past (like cooling artic) and the I've put a little sheet of paper between the plastic frame and the metallic protection's plate. I've all remounted.. And surprise!!! not one freeze since two day!!
I hope it will last.. but if yes this s F### great
ähm.. I release any kind of responsabilities concerning this action. I'm not a professional but as soon as it has work for me I wanted to share it ;-)
Seeeervus!!
Dodjob.

[Q] black screen after screen replacement for samsung focus

i just replaced the screen on my focus n i used it all day n made some calls then all of a sudden the screen went black on a call n it hasnt come back on since. i have tried taking out the battery, plugging it into the computer, i even updated it. and still yet a have a black screen. the touch funtions still work i can use the phone unlock it select things i just have no display. please help
Screen issue? You might need to take it apart again and check the connectors...
i tried that today n still no luck
As I said, screen problem? Although new, it might be gone. Which might also indicate another issue related to the screen (some circuit overloading?)

[Q] Black screen of death, then too bright with lines, now normal??

Hello,
I got the Galaxy S4 yesterday morning. Today around 9pm the screen was completely black. I could hear sounds and the buttons would light up but nothing worked. I pulled the battery and sim card as suggested via google search and still nothing. I got home and the screen came back on but it was really super bright with horizontal lines that were slightly shifted in one spot on top of each other. I plugged my usb from the charger into it a few times and eventually got a battery charging logo to come up. Had to do that a few more times before I got the screen back up. Now the screen appears normal but I'm scared that something happened to it. Either the screen is going to die soon or maybe it somehow over heated and that is why the screen was acting wierd. I just hope that since it seems normal now that I can get it replaced in store even though I can't duplicate the symptoms.
I'm curious as to what your take is on what's wrong with my phone? It had at least 75% charge before it started acting crazy. I don't want to keep it thinking it's fine and then after 15 days it goes out again and I'm stuck waiting for a repair to be shipped back to me.
Thanks
I just did a live chat with a Samsung Tech guy. He says it's because I installed an app or had a sd card inserted. He told me to uninstall Facebook and any ebook reading Apps and see if that fixes the problem. Do they think people fall for this? So incredible stupid if that's how they train their techs.
I was able to replicate the symptoms again. I bought the s view cover and when installing it had to press a little hard on the edges to snap into place. The screen went black again and did the same thing. Plugging to power then restarting fixed it. I found out that when I press the top right corner around where the time is, the screen flickers black and looks like I wants to cut out. Is there a sensor or digitizer located at that spot. If it's an issue when putting on a case, I see this is going to not bode well for the life of this phone. I went back to the dealer today and she gave me the number and location of a local samsung repair center. I'll have to give them a call tomorrow I suppose. Just be careful of any pressure being applied to the screen, even though mine has been acting up on it's own.
Just checked it now and it went totally black again and is not coming on. I've only had it a few days so not even enough time to load much stuff on it or customize it. I'm with Wind Mobile in Canada. It's getting boxed up and taken to the store asap tomorrow.

[Q] The worst galaxy S4 out of the box. Terrible video glitches. Need advise.

Hi guys, you cant imagine how sad i am. My sister was traveling from middle east and she bought me a present when she came back to my country. She was happy and gave me a brand new galaxy S4 I9500 Octa core international version. She said she was about to buy me an LG G2 but since i liked AMOLED so much she bought me an S4 i9500, so sad, now i regret for being an amoled fan.
Upon first boot, i noticed something was not right with the phone...the boot logo, the one that says samsung was jumping all over the screen from top to bottom. First i thought it was something with the boot but then things went really bad when it started to do the massive flickering while i was on the menu or running an app.
this is a video i took and i was able to record the most lasting glitch, all this flickering happens at random. There is no way to tell if it will do it or not, but happens multiple times during the day. For example i can play, watch an HD movie, i can use the phone normally without any problem for hours, then turn off the screen, turn it back on in some minutes and starts to glitch, or not glitch. It can or cannot happen, randomly, but happens.
Sometimes for example i turn the screen on, and stays black, i have to turn off the screen again and turn it on to make the graphics appear.
Sometimes for example i turn off the phone, after some minutes i turn it back on and the logo starts to move all over the screen for some seconds and stops and stays stable.
So practically i am out of warranty, the phone if from another continent. It says MADE IN INDIA on the back sticker, and came with android 4.3 and then it updated to 4.4.2 and same thing happens
I have to look on how to fix this on my own at the best price possible where i live.
The most dificult part of this is that i don´t know if this issue is tied to:
1) A bad LCD / Amoled screen,
or
2) If it is tied to a bad chip in MAINBOARD on the phone.
replacing the mainboard is cheaper than replacing the LCD screen, but im not really sure what could be the issue. and i dont want to waste money buying a brand new mainboard, change it, and the phone keeps glitching because the mainboard was not the issue.

Did you try contacting Samsung in your country? Maybe they would fix it anyway.
My guess is that you have a faulty screen. What you could try is to see if all the connectors are properly attaced. Maybe it's a little bit loose.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Overheated and now Pixel error

Hello togehter,
i have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I used it normaly was just on the internet as a green line appiered on the screen on the right side very close to the edge. It goes all the way up and down. I also noticed that my phone overheated heavy as this happened so i tured it off. After a moment i turned it on again but the problem is still there. There is still this small green line and the phone still gets hot. Now it is also rather hot today outside is there anything i could do to try to fix it?
Not sure what your green line looks like but this may prove helpful:

You'll have to RMA your phone. It's a hardware problem for sure. I had the same thing where the top portion of the phone heats up and eats battery like crazy whenever the screen is on. It would do this even in recovery mode.....which is the true test to see if it is your Android build or any software installed causing issues....at least with the heat anyway. The more it heated up, the more the lines appeared until the screen would either cut out for a moment or I'd get the over temp warning....even when not charging.
I agree with xmind2006, you should RMA it. I would not keep a device that heats up like that around. It could lead to most drastic device failures that you tend to read in the news.
I turned it on one more time yesterday and the screen went completly crazy directly. Going on and off, making random colors and so on. Im gonna bring it on Monday to the O2 Shop... Is this a common issue? Do you guys think i could ask them to get a fully new one directly? I dont want to wait weeks for them to repair... specially as i made my sim card smaller so it doesnt match my old phone anymore :X
