TWRP Recovery on G935P - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Is there any way to do this. I mean i know there is but can someone explain. I cannot seem to find any directions that make sense enough to completely install without any issues.

There is no way with the bootloader being locked. You can backup and restore using Flashfire

First time building a ROM

I really want to put a custom ROM on my phone (Asus ZenFone Laser 2 - ZE500KL), obviously without bricking it. Because I can't find RessurectionRemix or LineageOS already built, I'm going to try building by myself.
I can't find any good tutorials, but I tried this one, but I got an error right when installing the libraries... Because I know no one is going to build it for me, can someone suggests a step by step tutorial? (I have amateur Linux skills, I'm not any pro, but not any noob)
You can find LineageOS/AOKP/RR for ZE500KL here. here
Make sure you get the Z00ED version.

Well, I found that post but didn't notice there was an "Z00ED" in the title... By the way, some steps would be good to install it, because if I brick this, I'm dead... I know the steps, but making sure of them would be great...

You unlock the bootloader then you flash TWRP.. After that you wipe DATA/CACHE/DALVICK CACHE and you flash your ROM and GAPPS (ARM64).

So, if something go wrong in the process, I would just need to do the exact same process but with the stock ROM right?
Make sure your bootloader is unlocked before flashing twrp, go to fastboot and type this
fastboot oem device-info
if you see this -->> (bootloader)Device unlocked: true
then you are unlocked, then proceed to flash your device twrp latest version.

Yes, It's unlocked. Tomorrow I'll try flashing TWRP and then Lineage OS...
I found the TWRP here.
If someone could give feedback about this site I would be grateful!

You need to flash the stock recovery and then flash the stock ROM. There are plenty of tutorials on XDA to help you with that so don't worry.. You can find more in the General section of this forum

The second on (androidfilehost)
Before installing make sure you are on Android 6.0 and you unlocked your bootloader using the official unlock: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE500KL/0518-1134_SIGNED_UnlockTool_ZE500KL_AndroidM.apk
You should find your twrp here in xda or twrp.me

Just 2 more things I wanna make sure:
1. Do I need to root to flash LineageOS?
2. On that LineageOS post, what is the AOKP? xD I already checked the website but I didn't get what it is, and if it comes with the ROM...
You dont need to root because the rom is already pre rooted. But you can change root to SuperSU or PHH Superuser if you want.
AOKP are custom ROM developers/modders.

1: you don't need to root
2: AOKP is a custom ROM based on CyanogenMod/LineageOs but with extra features (Like Resurrection Remix has)
Thank you very much to everyone, Im just rocking LineageOS 14.1 on my smartphone! Until now, no errors!

SM-G935U Question ....

.
I have been looking around and reading a lot about this model phone G935U. I am wanting to run a custom ROM on it,
but I would need a custom recovery in order to flash the ROM correct ??
I do not think there is a custom recovery ( TWRP ) at all for this model G935U because our bootloader is locked.
So with no recovery we have NO CUSTOM ROM's right ??
Or is there a way to flash a ROM via Odin and not have TWRP ? I can not believe I got this expensive phone and I can not flash ANYTHING.
Thank you for any ideas or tips. BTW I am rooted and running ......API3 boot-loader.
.
I can't believe it either. You'd think you'd read up first.
FlashFire. Google it

Oh thanks. I do remember hearing that name before. Issue now would be, what to flash since none of the roms are labeled for G935U. DO you know of any ?
thanks

Hi...
Well the proper way to root ur opt is to unlock bootloader, flash twrp recovery and flash a proper su root package.
Oxygen 3.5.6 is bit complicated so not sure.
I will not recommend any shortcuts.[emoji106]
Sent from my ONE A2005 using Tapatalk
If you have already unlocked bootloader and have twrp installed, just flash this SuperSU

I'm not really sure what causes that to happen with your phone. What did you do after you rooted your phone? Did you modify/touch the system? You maybe accidentally deleted some important files in your system. If you like, you can go back to marshmallow and use Cf auto root to root your phone, here's the link: https://download.chainfire.eu/815/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-j5nlte-j5nltexx-smj500fn.zip
Just flash it with odin.
Yes i modify system, i install stock ROM before via odin (if i good remember). I try this cf auto root thx

That must be the problem, do not modify the system if your'e not sure about it. Inform me if you successfully rooted your device with cf auto root.

you can root "automaticaly" with KingoRoot using the pc, just make a search on Google, download, install and then root your phone
this is the most easy and simlpe way!(without "broke" something) to root the LLP stok rom
also you can use this guide to root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3508577
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j5/how-to/updated-basic-informations-guides-tips-t3511987
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j5/how-to/galaxy-j5-qa-thread-galaxy-j5-series-t3382922
along with that threads you can get stok roms already rooted to install, LLP or MM
Good luk!
PS. dont forget to do a "search" for them
most of them was writed just for spread the ink and loose the time, nobody read it!
Kingo root was a first program that i check but on marshmallow dont work, i dont try it on lolipop. But now i have again marshmallow then i try cf auto root at first.
God dude, look, just type on youtube how to root Galaxy j5 marshmallow, video is by Techno Geniune or something like that, follow instructions carefully, and that is it, nothing hard. And don't say that rooting using twrp caused problems for you, it didn't cause any problems to anyone out there, it is just i think that you are lazy and want to root using an app...
Edit: if you are on lollipop, just type how to root galaxy j5 lollipop...
Hmm, interesting you say that im too lazy to root my phone manually, and you say that i dont use youtube tutorial by Thechno Geniune, and at last you say that twrp dont broke anything for anyone. Weird because i use 4 files with twrp, and i watch mentioned by you tutorial and i was forced to 4 time installing ROM. Then i propose at first get knowledge about someone problem and then write that someone is lazy.

CF auto root work, thx for help I think that solve my problem at last

Hi. My question to you is, what do you want root for.. do you just want to root your device with stock rom or you want to use some custom roms?
I just want to root it so i can fully control my device.. delete some bloatwares and can download app with root supported like titanium backups and etc. Its either stock rom or custom rom can do..as long as it is safe and never affects my device performance..and dont make my device a laggy issues or something like that. Thank you for the response..

Hi. Sorry for the late reply.
If it says 935f. It's probably compatible with roms and recoveries for 935f.
If I'll have to do something like this.. I'd definitely try myself first. Just use odin method to root 935f. Since it's just flashing recovery and installation of super su. There's not much at risk. You can try odin method. If anything does wrong you can still flash it back using odin too....
And if it's about custom rom. I'd highly recommend checking your phones box for the type of chip inside your device. Download recovery and flash via odin. Copy rom to sd card and flash it. But do remember to check oem unlock. Plus you need to download the exact rom for 935 model and exynos/snapdragon version.
