I was wondering with the power button in the back, is there a way to unlock the phone while is on a car mount or other dock that prevents accessing the power button?
Double tap to wake. You will have to enter a password if you use security.

When i came back of some mountainclimbing with met xda in my backpack, i noticed that it had crashed. When i now push the on/off switch, it doesn't do a thing. When i push the reset or no batterij switch, the xda flips on and show me the Wallaby Bootloader screen while I did NOT push the on/off switch to trigget this function. Any idea how i can fix this and boot into windows mobile and not in the bootloader?
It sounds to me like the power button is jammed.
Uhu, that's why I thought and i opened the xda but the button was not jammed and it did not respond when i pushed the little button on the print board.
Hi guys, is there anyway I can change the behaviour of the power button? Ideally what I'd like it to do is act as a 'Home' button on single press, screen lock on a short hold (or double tap, or tap while on home screen) and shut down on long press.
Is that possible?

In cyanogen can wake up with volume keys
CM7 based Roms allow you to set your volume keys to wake your phone. But you'll still have to press the power button if you want to put it back to sleep.
Not sure about other Roms.

Actually you can download "Screen off and lock" app from market and lock the phone using your screen/long press search button...

WidgetLocker (Lockscreen replacement, get it via the market) also supports waking up your device via volume buttons.
A lot of other costum ROM's provide flashable zip's to wake the device up via volume buttons like ARHD. (As someone said, CM7 has this feature integrated)

No, it shouldn't, it's made to be extensively used, as long as you treat it with some care, you shouldn't be afraid...
I know this question has been asked before by someone else but there was no working solution.
I use the Touch Control app to wake my phone, and would prefer to use a gesture on the screen instead of the power button to wake the device. Does anybody know of an app, mod or editable system file I could use to stop the power button waking the device? I know that on a couple of other phones you can edit system/usr/keylayout to stop the home button from waking the device. (I would still like to be able to use the power button to turn the screen off, take screenshots etc.)

I know that it exists 2 ways to unlock the Z1 using the fingerprint:
- Wake up the device using the double tap to wake or power button, then use smoothly the fingerprint sensor to unlock the device
- While the screen is off, perform a long click into the fingerprint button (AKA home button) to wake up and unlock in the same action.
I like much more the second option, but... do you think that the long click will break the fingerprint sensor with the time?
