MIUI 7 was KK based so never really worked for the G4 but MIUI8 is MM based so this means it should be compatible. I was planning to try out the patchrom for MIUI 8 MM but I have no experience with this. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

As MIUI 7 based on Marshmallow was released some months ago by Xiaomi i was wondering how many of you would like to have this rom on their phone. It would not be so hard to port because there are many talented developers around and the Xiaomi Mi 4 has the exact same cpu as LG G3 and its got its own official rom. Also, another question would be if you find this rom more attractive than aosp roms or stock based roms.

There is no MIUI based on Android 7.1 available yet, from Xiaomi. There is only MIUI8 beta based on Android 7.0. Unless Xiaomi releases an MIUI stable ROM based on 7.1, developers can't even begin to port it for difference devices.
I heard that MIUI 8 is aveliable for our redmi 2...problem is that I think it is on android 5.1.1.
Is there official android 6.0 version?
You are thinking absolutely right, MIUI 8 is available for Redmi 2/Prime based on Android 5.1.1 and there is no official MIUI 8 on Android Marshmallow.
But you can get custom ROMs of Marshmallow & even of Nougat for Redmi 2/Prime.

Then you can return to stock, but it will be based on Android Lollipop. You can also try Resurrection Remix or Mokee Rom. However they will not give you the MIUI experience, but they will provide the best of custom ROMs.

I recently converted my honor 6x to omnirom. I installed OmniROM Pie Alpha 5.2 (omni 9 20190208 treble homemade). Its running stable and works well, only all nfc settings have vanished. I havent found much about that issue, is there any work around to fix this?
