This should be in Guides / news & discussions section.
Is this for mtk version also, or is there a different method of fixing it up? I just bought this today, I thought it was the right one to get... Now I am worrying that I made the wrong choice...
Questions
1. What is the purpose of no Verity zip?
2. Can you root and install TWRP, but not install a new ROM. Can you keep Miui stock and get OTA updates like normal?
Thx

So before giving a huge explanation on useless stuff with a prolonged explanation, as the title itself says this thread is meant only for users who ever willing to rebrand their Honor 8. Currently , i worked a bit with !nsideOut , One of the members of TeamMT and i successfully rebranded my Honor 8 FRD-L04(US variant) to FRD-L02 (INDIAN variant) . I request Dual sim users dont try this as the zip itself includes oem specific files of Indian Variant so u will loose the dual sim functionality.
A BIG NOTE : DO NOT TRY THIS ON EMUI 5 . ALL INFO IS EXTRACTED FROM EMUI4.1 AND SO ONLY MARSHMALLOW (EMUI4.1) USERS SHOULD TRY THIS .
Procedure for Rebranding to L-02:
unlock bootloader
Install TWRP recovery from here
reboot ur phone to homescreen
goto settings/storage and set sdcard as default storage
Download L-02 stock update.app [Emui 4.1 B160][size 1.49gb]
Copy UPDATE.APP to sdcard/dload/
download and Install zip from the attachments or Download here
Now reboot to recovery through adb by using the command
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Once twrp boots up , search for the downloaded zip and install it from recovery.
Now poweroff from recovery.
use the 3 button trigger to install update.app (click VOL UP+VOL DOWN + POWER simultaneously)
Now u will find the update.app starts flashing.
Procedure for Rebranding to L-04:
unlock bootloader
Install TWRP recovery from here
reboot ur phone to homescreen
goto settings/storage and set sdcard as default storage
Download L-04 stock update.app [Emui 4.1 B122][size 1.57 GB]
Copy UPDATE.APP to sdcard/dload/
download and Install zip from the attachments or Download here
Now reboot to recovery through adb by using the command
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Once twrp boots up , search for the downloaded zip and install it from recovery.
Now poweroff from recovery.
use the 3 button trigger to install update.app (click VOL UP+VOL DOWN + POWER simultaneously)
Now u will find the update.app starts flashing.

Hi gopinaidu77, do you have FRD-DL00 oeminfo file? I debranded my DL00 but I forgot back up my oeminfo, now I really need help to go back...
Hi Everyone! ZE500KL is my 2nd Asus device after FE170CG. As usual, would like to share a short tutorial on how to restore stock ROM / downgrade to Lollipop / rescue after being bricked.
Disclaimer
You have been warned!
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards or
thermonuclear war. Please do some research before attempting
this procedure. The firmwares provided below are from official
sources and is provided as it is. The procedure has been tested
only on 8 GB variant of Asus Zenfone 2 Laser(Ze500KL) and no
issues has been observed. Make sure the hardware is intact.
You are totally on your own. If you point the finger at me for
messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Stuffs Needed:
Stock ROMs - Lollipop 12.8.5.222 WW / Marshmallow 13.1010.1612.53 WW
Stock Recovery (Signed) - 12.8.5.222 / 12.8.5.118 (old)
Asus Drivers
ADB tools - For flasing recovery, clearing data, cache & system and starting clean
Device charged atleast 75%
Procedure:
1. Boot up the device into fastboot mode using vol up + power keys
2. Flash the stock recovery using
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
3. Now clean the device using the commands one by one
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase system
4. Now power off the device
5. Copy the latest Lollipop / Marshmallow ROM zip to the sd card without errors
NOTE: Marshmallow OTA will look for the lastest Lollipop build - 12.8.5.222 before starting the flash. So flash the recovery V 12.8.5.222(Link above) and it will be automatically upgraded during the flash
6. Insert the SD card into the phone
7. Now boot into the recovery using vol down + power keys
8. You should see the stock recovery we flashed earlier
9. Do a factory reset for consistency
10. Now install the ROM using SD card option and follow the prompts
11. On successful install, select the restart option
First boot will take a bit(Be patient!) and you should see the welcome screen if all went well. Good Luck!
Once the recovery is installed successfully, then It should be a piece of cake to install the ROM. I did above method lots of times without failures. I had to downgrade to Lollipop due to insufficient internal storage(8 GB) since I use lots of apps for my office use which can't be avoided!

Hello!
Thanks for your work, truly appreciate it.
Could you update the OP with the install method that I'm going to describe next? It's just to avoid future complications (lost of Wi-Fi, sound, etc...) for Noob users.
Download the OrangeFox zip file and copy it to your device (internal or external storage)
Extract the recovery.img from the zip and store it, on the folder where you have adb and fastboot files, on your PC
Open a cmd line and execute these commands (being on that folder, of course):
adb devices (to make sure your device is detected)
adb reboot bootloader (to reboot into fastboot mode)
fastboot getvar current-slot (to check what's your current active slot)
fastboot set_active b (if your active slot was a, if it was b then change it to a)
fastboot erase boot
fastboot flash boot recovery.img
fastboot reboot (NOTE : Before hitting "Enter", long press Vol + on your device until you see the Android One logo. By doing this your device will be forced to boot into Recovery and not into System)
When OrangeFox recovery boots, if you have the stock boot.img that matches the build on this "currently active" slot, flash it into boot partition. If you don't have, then just ignore this step...(it's not mandatory)
Install the OrangeFox zip (always install the latest build available)
Change slot to the one that was active on the beginning of these steps and reboot to Recovery (just to make sure that the slot, in fact, was changed)
Reboot to System
Enjoy
Why do I suggest this? Well, please read the hidden content:
By doing this method (which seems more complicated but I've tried my best to explain it as if I were explaining it to a 4 years old kid...) we will flash the recovery.img into the "inactive" slot, thus, not breaking anything on the "currently active" slot. When OrangeFox boots, it will patch both slots boot ramdisks. But the thing is, on the "currently active" slot (the one inactive on the beginning) it will patch the recovery.img but, on the "currently inactive" slot (the one that was active on the beginning), it will patch the stock boot.img, thus, no bug will happen that usually appears when a user accidentally flashes the wrong boot.img into boot partition. On the other hand, if we have the stock boot.img, that matches the build on the "inactive" slot, we could flash it into boot partition before installing the zip that patches ramdisk. By doing this we will patch both stock boot.img present on both slots (instead of patching recovery.img and boot.img).
Cheers!

Hello....again...
I've just tested the install method that I've explained but, unfortunately, it's not working.
OrangeFox recovery only boots if the installer zip is run through TWRP...don't really know why since I've tested a lot of times doing this exact same method with TWRP recovery, and it's working. It should be working here as well.
Anyway the OF recovery boots but I think that it does not decrypt data. It doesn't gets frozen on the welcome screen (like before) but it doesn't decrypt (I see all the files with the "weird" names). This, of course, is only bad for those who want to remain on stock ROM. For anyone who wants to move on to custom ROMs, just format user data and your set to go.
Cheers!

On the first image your running commands on "C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot" folder.
On the second image your showing the files on "C:\adb" folder.
You must run the commands on the folder where you have the img file stored! Rename the file!!? WTF!?
Besides, you didn't read the instructions carefully, not only your running the command to change slot wrong but, also, you've tried to flash recovery.img into currently active slot before trying to change slot (based on your command history on first image).
PLEASE!
If you're not comfortable doing these simple steps, or if you don't have patience to read all instructions carefully, then just DON'T DO ANYTHING!!
People with this kind of behavior are the main reason why most devs often just drop development. How will you be able to successfully flash a ROM and/or report true bugs, if you're not able to just execute simple commands that have been explained step by step? Maybe my instructions weren't clear enough....perhaps I should have start the steps with:
"Turn on your computer";
"Put your hands on your keyboard and mouse";
"Login to your account";
etc....
ALSO, the recovery on the OP has been updated. Even if you did everything correctly you would end up on fastboot since your trying to flash the wrong OF version!
Please, search, please read, please...USE YOUR BRAIN!
Thanks

No rom for this device has ota support yet anyway. And if you mean ota for stock rom then definitely not as you need stock boot.img for stock ota or it won't work
Website and download link down at the moment or it is just for me?
Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or TWRP3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

Let’s start with the installation process
If you already unlocked your bootloader, start with step 3.
If you are already rooted, start with step 4.
If you already installed a previous version of TWRP, start with step 4.
If you already have TWRP installed and just want to root, start with step 5.
First you need to unlock your bootloader. You can do so by enabling developer settings first, enable oem unlocking, then shut down your phone, hold volume up and down at the same time and while holding them plugin your charger. Your phone now should show a green screen with instructions to unlock the bootloader. Just follow them and after the unlocking your data should get wiped. After that your device will boot up and land in setup screen. Do not setup anything, just skip as much as possible, because your phone will get wiped again. Enable developer settings and make sure oem unlocking is greyed out and enabled. (If it does not show up, connect to a network first!)
Now you need to overwrite vbmeta partition, so you can flash third party partitions. Download vbmeta.tar then go into download mode on your device. Put vbmeta.tar to AP in Odin, click start. This should finish pretty quickly, so pay attention when your device reboots, because you need to boot into recovery (Hold power and volume up after the screen turns black). When booted into recovery, wipe your data and reboot normally into system. Now you can setup your phone as usual and make sure oem unlocking is still greyed out and enabled!
Time to flash recovery. Download (link is at the end of this post) the latest version as zip and extract it. You should end up with one single file named recovery.img. Pack it as tar with 7zip or any other compression tool you prefer. This packed tar file should only contain recovery.img and nothing else, also make sure the name is still recovery.img, otherwise Odin will refuse to flash it. In Odin put the tar file in AP and simply hit start. Congrats you now have TWRP installed!

Good day. Excuse me, where is vbmeta.tar located?
---------- Post added at 11:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:48 PM ----------
Can find out. Is this accurate for the SM-A805? I hope it doesn’t matter F / DS and others? And what does the root look like? Can Magisk be installed?
If of course you can? Describe the points more clearly, since the description indicates points 1 2 3 4 but they are not! There is only a TWRP installation. And as I understand it ROOT. But in the archive folder r1q-3.3.1. As I understand it, just sew this archive through TWRP?
I understood your instructions. I did everything as expected! In TWRP, the car does not work! I can’t press anything.
Twrp booted but no touch. I cannot control twrp. Installed SG7 fw and now TWRP stucks on teamwin logo.
I will upload new build with fix for touch
Sent from my SM-A805F using Tapatalk
Now it just doesn't load further than the logo! !(
