So I got my Axon 7 yesterday and love the phone. However I noticed the MiFlavor system update screen pops up every couple hours. It's not super annoying but I'm confused to why this shows up constantly like this? My system is clearly up to date, does it have to show up every time it checks?
Thanks.

When I first got my Axon 7 I just pulled my sd card out of my zenfone 2 amd put it in my axon 7. My sd card still had a couple of custom roms for the zenfone 2 on it. Thge system update found those and kept telling me I had an update available. Once I deleted those from the sd card it stopped

Thanks for the heads up, but I haven't owned a rooted phone for about 6 months now. The SD card came from an S7 Edge but doesn't have any custom ROMs or any other updates on it.

I figure LoL...i knew you were Verizon that's why i ask for Carrier, i don't recall the reason why but if you do a search in the Z-Community you'll see Verizon users having this System Update pop-up even if they are up to date.
P.S. ONLY happens with Verizon SimCards

I see. It's an odd bug. If I ever decide to root the phone first thing I'll do is grab a different ROM. Either way it's not bugging me too badly right now so I'll just leave it. The phone is comparatively cheap to the anything else with similar specs, so I'm not gonna let this keep me away.

If you Root you can just freeze the System Update app. That's a temporary easy fix. Using either Link2SD or Titanium backup.

This is a common quirk that occurs with CDMA users. Upgrade to B27 if you haven't already, and then disable the System Update app. Settings > Apps > ... > Show System > System Update > Disable. When you want to check for an update, be sure to re-enable it again.

Not helpful, but I still haven't gotten the update. Even connected my phone to the LG PC Suite hoping to get it. Apparently TMobile just likes you more
It adds one new feature of...
- T-Mobile Free Inflight Texting support
Has the following fixes/enhancements....
- Bluetooth connectivity improvements
- Wi-Fi connectivity improvements
- UI improvements for T-Mobile Free Inflight Texting suport
You are lucky you got the update. I been trying for it all day. I even tried to manually update it with the LG Update Tool and it still says my software is up to date, but it is D85110m. I really want D85110r because I am taking a flight Thursday morning and really want to try it out.
Do not install...it also contains security updates that block primetether...

You can usually force the update notification by clearing data and force stopping google services framework. Youll probably have to do it a few times or more but it has always worked in the past. Im skipping this update as it also blocks purple drake root.
Updating a rooted phone?
So I rooted my phone the day I got it. And I really want to try this update because of all the wifi issues I have been having.
Will I need to unroot my phone to do any updates? If not, then will updating unroot my phone? If it won't then awesome, I will find a way to apply it since the update isn't available in the update tool yet (but it is from http://lg-firmware-rom.com).
Thanks!

You might have to do it A LOT.. May even have to reboot too. On my G2 it took forever to get it to work. After you clear data in gs framework are you going back to update center and making it recheck update?? You need to.. There should be a date ending in 1969 as the last update check after clearing data

It never shows that date just the most recent time. I've tried that a lot... 30 minutes of doing the clear cache/data then force stop then clear the cache/data in the update center as well. along with reboots. I may try doing a factory reset.
I am not sure if it matters but I have net10 for service and also the phone is encrypted.

I know this is a n00b question but, I haven't messed with radios since way back on my HTC TP.

Can I flash the radio by itself?
Also
Will I see any improvements in signal, speed, or anything else?

Yes, the radio can be flashed by itself in recovery, All 3 the biggest improvement I've seen is signal strength. With the last couple radio's I was seeing a lot of random signal drops service would cut out then cut back in for a split second this happened several times a day.

I read something on this. It was either a comment to a post about this update or in an article, but it had something to do with the LG/Tmobile and the update not being available on it. My software update tool gives that I am up to date..
love everything about this phone, but before making the plunge I had a few questions.
1. I'm looking to get the L29 version. This is correct?
2. What is the notification issue I keep reading about? I read the forums but it doesn't seem concise. No notifications come up? some? does this effect one model over the other?
3. Is the audio jack volume high? on the Nexus 6p it's abysmally low.
4. Does this phone support MHL/HDMI out? i know there's Miracast and screen mirroring, but looking to use a cable if possible.
Thanks for your answers, really want this phone.
1 -Ideally, yes. Though either will work.
2 - Permissions and the "battery firewall" are messing with people. The device works much harder to keep the battery usage down than any device before it, so getting used to that takes a while, and people think it has "notifications issues" (Though I think there is one legit "issue" with whatsapp, but I dont use it)
3 - Has been by far good enough for me.
4 - Dont know, havent tried.
So do notifications not pop up? I read also about apps basically closing while in the background.

The way I understand it, one of the settings under the performance settings causes all background apps to close when the screen shuts off. You can fix this by whitelisting each app that you want to remain open. Like you, I have read other vague accounts in the forums and reviews about apps not staying in memory, but I don't know if they're talking about that or something similar to what the GS6 and Note 5 do with RAM management. I sincerely hope it's not the latter, as that's the whole reason I got rid of my Note 5.
As long as I can turn some of this off and make the phone behave more or less "normal", I'll be happy. My L29 arrives tomorrow.
As i said before in other Threads : NO NOTIFICATION ISSUES FOR ME SINCE B162 Update. (And yes i have whatsapp)

I flashed update from Thread here in XDA. L-29 3Gb.
Im not sure when it goes well... but i think it was B152.... B103 was annoying and there was defently a issue... but since B152... i think it works great.
I'm using L29 in Seattle with AT&T. I have no notification issues at all. My only issue is my Microsoft Band 2 doesn't always work. The audio jack volume seems perfectly normal to me when I last used it.

So, I received my L29 yesterday and set it up and played with it all day. I tested notifications and everything else I could think of. I have had no issues at all so far. The firmware I'm on is 103 and there are no updates when I check. Everything seems to be working as it should.
Reading the forums on here for several days before, I was expecting a hot mess. I actually kind of like Huawei's UI. It's different. I'm not even going to put Nova Launcher on this time.
I'm in Texas on AT&T LTE.

Just to add to the good review for AT&T. I have dual AT&T sims in this bad boy and enjoying it. Honetsly, the software has the best dual sim manager I have seen. Getting solid speeds. Getting used t EMUI is interesting.
Anyone know how to update to B156 from B103 on the L29? My OTA doesnt exsist.
yet. if ure still completely stock u should receive OTA updates at some point in the near future
I am stock. Waiting those 14 days to unlock the bootloader. Need coffee money!

Just want to give an update on my experience since receiving the phone..
First day was good, but I'm now seeing the notification issue. I have an L29 on B103. It seems to be mostly the email client I use (TypeMail or Blue Mail), but I tried stock Gmail and had the same issue. When the screen is off, I no longer get instant notifications. It seems like there's about a 5-6 minute delay before they come in, like the internet connection goes to sleep.
Yes I have turned off all battery optimizations for the apps and whitelisted them. I also set all of the notification options to "on". I have heard that rooting and disabling "phone manager" fixes this, but I'm not quite ready to take that plunge yet. There are no updates available for my device.

Thanks. Do you know what this update is supposed to fix/improve?
Edit: Scratch that, I see the update notes, but it seems the file you linked won't work. It's 1.4GB and says it's not compatible. I'm trying to do the incremental update to 153 now, but all of the links for the smaller update are broken for 160 on that thread.

All i know is that I downloaded one of the links he listed under the b160 and it had the update.app in it after you unzip... it is critical that you unzip and have the files inside the zip in the dload folder on your internal memory otherwise it won't work... I will try to post some pictures and maybe re-zip what i have and create a download link... when i get home from work
This may not be the right place to ask but I figured with the amount of knowledge in this forum, I would have a better chance in solving my issue here than if I posted on the ZTE forum
I have an A2017U and run the MagicJack app but sometimes I notice that after I leave the phone set for a while I have to relaunch the app. I have gone in settings and disabled "Scheduled background wake-up" and "Allow deep sleep" which I assume shuts down programs when the phone in idle for a long time... lol I'm new to these settings ... came from an old Galaxy S3 still running KitKat lol. I still have issues with the app being seemingly shut down.
I don't have any apps that "clean/auto-close apps" such as a memory manager or things like that. It may be the MagicJack app itself crashing or something but I have never seen any messages and it seems fine unless the phone is idle for a while.
If anyone can think of something I can try .. or maybe an app that will make sure an app stays running all the time .. I'm all ears.
just a note... I'm not rooted. The phone is only a month old and I don't want to lose my warranty by unlocking the bootloader before I'm sure that the phone is going to continue to function properly and I'm pretty sure that the other method of rooting with the bootloader still locked doesn't allow updates and I want Nougat when comes out. If I am wrong about this let me know ... I would love to have this phone rooted... I miss some of the programs I used on my Galaxy.
Also .. This may be Marshmallow or the MJ app but on my Galaxy when I went to recent apps and cleared it the MJ app would start itself again but it doesn't on the Axon
(edit) discovered the lock icon so MJ doesn't get shut down when I select "clear all" in the recent apps
Thanks in advance for your time

Thanks for the reply but it seems that I'm missing something. I can't find Mi-Assistant on the Axon 7 and when i find it on google it gives me the install option but says no eligible devices available so it seems tat Mi-Assistant can't even be installed on the Axon 7
I don't have a ZTE phone, but I've got a similar problem to the OP's with the MagicJack app on various of my Android phones.
On my OLD phones that run ICS and such, the MJ app runs and runs and runs, and the MJ phone number is always active pretty much no matter what.
But on my newer Android 6 or better phones, the app is constantly dying any time after the screen is turned off...as in no app mini icon in the status bar and won't ring or accept incoming calls unless I then manually re-launch the app.
I've tried checking all the power conserve setting in the OS to ensure that the MJ app isn't being turned off by them, but that hasn't made any difference thus far. It's really annoying, and I have no idea what's causing it or how to keep the app alive.

It's normal that you don't have it lol, Mi-Assistant is only on the A2017 (luckily, because it is utter crap :silly: ).
I believe the problem is the app. From some version of Android (I think it was 5) the apps need to have a notification open all the time to actually not get closed. Maybe it hasn't been updated since long ago. What does it do?
My father had his noise-cancelling mic broken on a MotoG after a fall. The solution was to switch to speakerphone. I used an app called SoundAbout to monitor if there's a call going on, and it switches to speaker. But it needs to display a notification all the time. you can simply block it through the notif manager though

Since this update, I get no cell reception. It's fine when it first boots, then 4g flashes on and nearly instantly it drops to disconnected.
I've tried safe mode, thinking it was that. Nope.
Uninstalled digits. Nope.
Signed in via multi-line settings. Nope.
Watch (Zte ZW10) connected or not makes no difference.
Anyone else? Any ideas short of hard reset?
If it was a simpler process and wasn't risking tripping anything then yeah its good to try but lets not forget this version was never meant to be in the hands of consumers. Be wise stay official till the official OTA comes out! And since were on a new baseband whats to say you can even force the update now?

Since this update, I get no cell reception. It's fine when it first boots, then 4g flashes on and nearly instantly it drops to disconnected.
I've tried safe mode, thinking it was that. Nope.
Uninstalled digits. Nope.
Signed in via multi-line settings. Nope.
Watch (Zte ZW10) connected or not makes no difference.
Anyone else? Any ideas short of hard reset?

Yes, the same issue here. Can't get any data when off of Wi-Fi. It's connected but slower then molasses.

Yes, every key press is in real time into a chat window. It automatically opens if you initiate a rtt call.

But, is this update rootable?
Anyone else's dialer app not working. Keeps force closing will try to factory reset
I was able to get my reception back by clearing the cache partition (!!) and disabling wifi calling (the latter may not have been relevant, in fact -- I can enable it now, though).
Nooooo I updated to this version. Can I still root?
Looks like you can't. I tried it and you get stuck in a bootloop.
Ever since I got android 10 my phone gets these random jitters from time to time. Also I noticed whenever I'm in an app and I close to go back to my home screen the home screen refreshes (using nova) I don't ever recall having these issues on pie. It just seems really buggy. I never got to try the beta's since my country didn't have the program.
How did you install the update, OTA, sideload, SmartSwitch?

I really don't want to wipe. I put so much time into customizing everything the way i want it
Mine hasn't been hitting at all, however sometimes when I pull my notification shade down and then expand a notification it freezes. I'm almost ready to do a factory reset to see if that fixes it

I also noticed that the ram management has been horrible. I notice this after the phone has been rebooted and it's several hours later. Never was like that on pie
If you backup, it takes like 10 minutes to factory reset and restore. You could be done by now...

It's not just about backing up apps, it's setting them all up the way you want them

You'd also be done with that by now. Lol

It would take me over an hour to set everything back up

Don't "lol" as you've clearly never backed up & restored on nonrooted Android or via Samsung SmartSwitch.. They don't cover everything, by a mile.
Not sure why you you think it's okay around here to recommend something you don't understand. People are looking for help, not uniformed smugness.

But everything would work.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar to what my thread is about?

I did it not to long ago, enjoy your bugs.
I have jitters and stutters within both Samsung and Gmail apps. I also get freezing when I pull down my notification shade and try to expand Gmail notifications. The latter happens about 80%of the time where as email jitter and stutters are constant. I have factory reset twice without restoring from any backups.
This did not do this in PIE.

Same here. Horrible ram management, random freezes. Samsung is definitely rushing to release the "stable" version of the android 10.
Not quite sure why people still believes doing a factory reset can fix everything.
For me scrolling in any internet browser is choppy.
Yeah so it seems they released this update too early and it's still feeling like a beta. I'll probably wait til January patch comes out and see if they fixed it
Am also experiencing the same random jitters this thread is talking about. I updated to Android 10 (BSKO) the day it became available to Greece (EUR, December 9th) on my S10+ (SM-G975F). Am holding up till January update before resetting and possibly downgrading, first versions of Android OSes suck in general anyway. Bit of advice, if your S10 is having a "lag attack" on Android 10, do not, under no circumstances open the camera. Touch input will freeze up and camera will just show a laggy feed of what's going on for about 5-7 minutes before unlagging and forcing a reboot.
