Hi,
I tried to follow the following instructions : http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/general/how-to-flash-stock-twrp-root-sm-g531f-t3286340
On the step : "9. Flash your firmware with Odin by using the AP button and hit start. Make sure repartition is NOT selected and untick auto reboot. This step takes some time" it got stucked and Failed.
I tried to reboot my phone to start over but I get the following message :
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies & try again.
This message is shown when I reboot, when I try to reach the stock recovery and when I try to reach the Download Mode.
With Kies, my device isn't connecting properly, it's looping "Connected" / "Disconnected" / "Connected" / "Disconnected" etc...
That's why I have two questions for you :
First one, is my phone totally blocked and I should buy a new one ?
If not, is there someone who could help me solve this issue ?
Thanks in advance
REFlash stock ?
Reflash with KIES put model and serial number of your phone and let the program load the firmware for your phone.
You get error at boot.img ?

I attempted to root my phone using Chainfire's method. Evidently, before I started I failed to check for two things, one to make sure usb debugging was properly set. The second thing that I failed to do was insure that I unchecked block reactivation in security options. Now I can't do anything with the phone. It will go into the flash rom mode (down vol. home and power). When I run Odin I get a message saying that the process failed (using cf-autoroot). Then if I try to reboot my phone with the power button, or with (vol.up, home and power) I get a message stating "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
Of course the phone won't connect to Kies. I am hoping this doesn't mean I have bricked my phone!
Can anyone offer a suggestion please? I am desperate.
Thanks for any and all help!!
Ignoring instructions can have consequences. You've probably got some messed system files now. But you can recover with Odin.
Backup your photos and anything else of importance. Then do a factory data reset (in the Settings menu), followed by using Odin to flash the full stock firmware image for your device /carrier.
That will take you back to a stable, stock system. To make rooting easier you would do well to choose a S5 4.4.2 firmware image with a build date before June 3rd.

Hello, there
I tried rooting my device while that it got stuck. Now I have the problem "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.". To solve the problem I tried using firmware recovery and firmware upgrade and installation but each time I got error from Kies such as "sm-n900 does not support initialization", "device is not responding", ..... etc
Now, my alternative try is using Odin. I need to know my android version to download its corresponding firmware version. :|
How can I know while my device is stuck showing the black screen "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."?
I do appreciate your help in advance
I tried this link to check my firmware

It is my first post, and I don't understand to much as people here. I write because I have a problem with my Gionee. My phone was root and with 4.4.2 oficial kit kat ROM (upgrade by recovery). I could have mismanipulated the phone and when I switch it on it appears an error (com.android.systemui), and can't boot. I can't use recovery mode and I tried to do a reset by fast boot, but the phone is not recognised by de computer.
I've tried to repair it using GNQC too, but it appears this message : "The phone ver is different from SW ver". And If I try the emergency download It appear some fails related with "COM port" .
I spent almost all my money in this phone and I'm too worried. Anyone can help me?
Hello, i got Frp lock text, tried going to download mode and flashing a stock firmware, when my phone goes halfway throught it restarts and goes into download mode, now it messed up my boot and stuff and it only shows that "An error has occured while updating the device software.
Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software.
I can't flash it, it keeps rebooting, please help, thank you.
Use kies 3 and under tools select "software upgrade" put in your serial number and model then follow the steps it should work.
Make sure you don't grab or touch the phone when connected to pc because Odin is finicky like that.
Hi,
I have attempted to update my device to Android 6.0.1
- grabbed ROM from sammobile.com
- put device in download mode
- used ODIN by just loading the .tar.md5 file in AP and hitting start
ODIN spat something like "Write operation failed" just after this "hidden.img.ext4" file.
Googled a bit and it seems that deleting the "hidden.img.ext4" from the tar would be all that is needed.
But...
ODIN would not start flashing with the new .tar file. So I have rebooted the device and bam!
Code:
The device now reads "An error occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software)
So I went on and installed the Smart Switch app for the emergency recovery function. Tried with 3 versions of it 4.2.18xxxx - 4.1.16xxxx - 4.1.17xxxxx. No chance in the first version, the last two versions would allow me to input the device information (model and S/N) but both spat back at me
Code:
Smart Switch App says "SM-A500FU does not support initializing. Please contact our service center"
So, I am now stuck with a permanently turned-on-screen device that would not go into download / recovery mode (but it does reboot to the same screen), the battery is non-removable, and I also got some Z3x samsung tool thing at hand, hmm... Any chance for me to put it back into download mode or is it good for the recycle bin ?
Thank you
