[Q] Nexus 4 Charging Very Slow

I am not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but I am seeing that i'll charge my phone for somewhere between 5-8 hours using the original wall charger and cable but it will not fully charge. It gets to about 70-80%. Is this happening to anyone else?
Any other details? Rooted? ROM?
My phone fully charges from 10% to 100% in about 2 hours or less
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
5-8 hours is definitely not normal. It fully charges from 0 to 100% in 3h 45min Max and even that is a little bit of a stretch. For me its more like 3hours.
Sent from my Mako Nexus quattro using Tapatalk 2!
Check your chaging status. If it says USB, thats your problem. Without further knowledge of your setup, I cannot advise you any further
Just happened to me, plugged into original charger before going to sleep, woke up and it shows only 80%. Plugged into Samsung charger, now up to 90% in 20 minutes.

Stock everything. It's happened about 4 nights now.
I find that sometimes my stock charger detects as USB instead of AC. You can see if it is charging that way in the battery details in the settings. When it is stuck on USB it is way slower.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Yeah and if you want it to charge a little bit more faster you turn off the device
Check about phone, make sure it says Charging (AC) and not Charging (USB). If it's USB then thats the reason why, use another charger.
My stock charger that came with N4 went to USB but then for some reason, after I replugged it, it went to AC and has been AC ever since.

I was having a problem where mine, with the charger that came with it would charge very slowly, once overnight only got to 80% in ~8 he's i watched it and sometimes would not even show charging on the lock screen. I switched to my HTC one s charger and it is charging with great speed. Issue with these chargers?

did your HTC One S have an adaptor like the Nexus 4 or any other phone now a days... I think thats the probllem. having an adaptor from USB to AC PLUG messes with these phones. Like I said before, above post.. buy an LG AC Wall Charger.. works great.

Wow, glad I found this thread. I was wondering what the cause of this was, as well. I've been using my GNex charger since it switched over.

Discharging while plugged in to wall?

My nexus 4 was all fine till I flashed the r22 kernel.
My phone had about 22% battery left, so I plugged it in to wall, and I started using it at the same time
To my surprise, after 2 hours of being plugged in to wall, the battery has discharged to 19%! And I've been only using Whatsapp with lowest brightness! no heavy usage!
So I left it there to charge without using it, and it reached 95% in about 7 hours! (usually it took 2 to 3 hours)
I reverted back the kernel and the ROM and tried again, with no success! It goes through the same behavior.
Any Ideas? Is something wrong with my device?
are you using the original charger? my nexus 7 discharges while plugged in if I'm using my nexus 4 charger

Could be the cable? Im using its cable but plugged to the pc.
I am suffering from something similar since updating OTA to 4.2.2. I'm using the official charger and always charge overnight but twice in the last 6 days the device has not been fully charged in the morning. Looking at the battery graph it reached 100% in a few hours but then slowly discharged despite still being plugged in. I use the Clock Daydream in Night mode (and always have, since I got the device in November) so I'm going to disable that first and see if the problem exists. If so then I'll try a different charger. If that fails then it's factory reset time.
it is strange that after reaching 100% plugged it in to wall if i use it to listen to music or something like that still plugged to the wall it discharges to 99%.
This makes no sense to me a phone discharging while plugged to the wall
same thing's happening to me. not really that bothered but I want my phone to charge and not discharge when I play music. ;(

Yes, I've had the same experience since the OTA 4.2.2 update. Went from 8% to 1% while running nothing but XDA app at lowest brightness. Stock charger. Never had it happen before update.

That's your issue, your PC's usb only supplies 500-+ mA for charging. The nexus 4 original charger is 1.2mA.
It's the stock charger, it sucks, try re-plugging the cable several times (check in battery, if charing says "AC" instead of "USB)

Once your phone reaches 100% it stops charging even if it's still plugged in.

[Q] Does it matter which usb cable is used to charge?

For example i am now using samsung s3 usb to microusb charge cable because i lost the original one and the one bought from ebay. Now i will buy that

It doesn't matter. It would only affect the rate at which your phone gets charged.
It wouldn't spoil it.

Delete stats, charge it up to 100% and then let it discharge completely until it gets switched off and then once again charge it up to 100% in one go.

I cant delete it be cause with esexplorer i cant find it.
I use batrterycalibration app and it deletes itself.
I put battery and waited until %0. then again turn on to see and again it turned off. Then i charged until %100 while it was turned off (in turn off mode , i cant see if its battery is full). Then i opened and used. It went about 10 hours. It was good . but when i increase display brightness, it started to went quickly.

Is this normal

Have a stock t-mobile nexus 6p and I think it's not charging correctly. As you can see it says 3hrs till fully charged. Any ideas

with stock charger it normally takes 1h30 to charge. with a normal 1a charger it takes 6h~7h

As far as I can remember it did charge fully in about 1hr 1/2. But now for some reason it's taking sometimes 4hrs. I'm thinking it might be a faulty charger.

Sounds like a faulty charger or cable possibly.
Do you happen to know of a good replacement?
One off of google play store?
yes and no
its all relative... remember that the "handshake" between phone and charger will indicate if its charging rapidly based on the resistance.
thats why using a bad cable on a normal charger will say the same... and cause damage to the crappy charger
now, if this is stock cable and charger, it would tell me that the 6P is drawing less power than the charger has... that doesnt happens just because, to me it sounds like other factors...
for example, a phone that was outside on the sun or its warm, will not draw 3A and potentially get the battery even hotter to the point of damage.. i can see it drawing less power, and controlling the temp... which in turn the current draw will dictate the ETA for full charge...
for the above example... turn phone off... put it over your car's AC unit at full blast and chill it for a few mins.. let it sit another few mins to ensure the temperature of the device is indeed cool..... then turn on, and charge again... should draw more than before in a few minutes

Phone not charging to 100%

Every time I charge my phone it only goes up to 95%. I leave on the charger all night while I'm sleeping and it never reaches 100%. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue as well?

Run the battery down to almost empty. Then power off and recharge. I know someone who had the issue and he just needed to drain his battery.
Nope, me or my wife (same phone) have had that problem.
Check the AC adapter and cord.

That's a sign of a bad battery or a problem with the charger or USB cable. If you have any old chargers and jab cables lying around (even if not QC3.0) try one of them. If that still doesn't fix it, then you have a defective battery.

I'm having the same problem, I've used the stock charger and cable and a belkin cable as well, also plugging it into my trucks USB port. I can only get my battery to 92% no matter which method I use.

I stated I knew someone with the issue and you are saying that that batteries are bad..shrug... It's a software issue that has come up on other devices besides the V20.
