I know there is a thread about the issues with the replacements. This thread about thoughts on where to go from there. What people think about what phone to replace the Note 7 etc.
I just dont know what other phone is good enough to jump to. Or if its even worth staying with the Note even if Samsung goes for v3... Resale value etc.
For the 1st time in my life im even considering the Iphone lol

I am thinking the V20. I don't want the s7e. The v20 looked much tougher than the N7 but with same screen real estate. Not as good as the N7 but may be my only choice since it appears the N7 may be abonded by all carriers. No way will it make economical sense to give updates and alike for the small few who stubbornly try to keep it.
We have a dead device, weird year for Samsung and us for sure, it's almost as strange as our election this year.
For some reason i feel i am more at risk with the replacement. I used my 1st n7 almost to the end but i dont know. I guess i have had enough
Now im not sure if i will even get a new phone, i may just stay with my Note 5

I kept my note 5 as well, but the only thing I could replace the note 7 with is the note 8. I feel this is really bad for the note faithful, those of us who are s pen junkies and have had several notes before 7. There isn't a replacement except for another note. Finally a waterproof, SD card capable note, hell the only things missing is the removable battery. I plan to roll the dice and keep this one as lo g as I can, I won't be early for the recall if it comes back up. They got me the first time, this time I am more skeptical about it.

I stopped using my n7 until more info comes out. I dont think i will keep it because there is no point paying $800+ for a phone that probably won't get support. If Samsung goes for round 3 they need to offer a heavy discount to those of us who have dealt with this mess from day one...
We shall see.... I already miss using my N7

How is your note 5 as far as lag and speed? I am thinking about getting one. Either note 5 or one plus 3.

Alright I know this mostly isn't related with the tablet but anyway I got the galaxy tab 2 7.0 and I used it for a couple of hours put it in the case and everything. Then I filled up the storage so I put in a 32GB sd card and then I noticed a small chip in the tablet my dad said they wont take it back for such a small thing. any excuses I can say to return it such as it locks up randomly?
Where did you buy it?
Pretty much anything you can think of. WiFi not staying connected, battery issues, locking up/random freezes, etc. But if u only had it for a few days then I'm sure you can return it with no problems if u still have the receipt.

so you want to lie in order to get it replaced? sounds like your dad is right it's such a small thing just press on and use it
Yeah sure you can, and I did with google too. I only have one dead pixel on my screen and I want a replacement. So yeah I lied some other excuse to make sure they agree and they said sure

Only one dead pixel is still a fault and a good enough reason (a better reason than many, in fact) to send it back without making excuses.
Is it human nature that people feel they have to lie when they don't even need to?

Define "soon" . you may be waiting until around November or so. I think the back glass itself is sleek as all hell. I'm just afraid of breaking it. So I put it in a case where I don't get to enjoy its beauty.

Here's what I said in a thread of someone asking if it's worth it. Basically: you should buy it.
Johmama said:
The main pros of the Nexus 4 that I keep listing anytime I tell people about it are the following:
1. Price. $350 is pretty much half the price of any other competitor to the Nexus 4
2. Pure Android, updated directly from Google. As soon as a new version of Android is released, it's on the Nexus. Google develops Android FOR this device.
3. Design. Glass front and back, it's a solid phone. Looks sleek.
Now, newly-released phones do have slightly better hardware. But we're getting to the point of diminishing returns. We're packing so much hardware into these devices, you'll hard-pressed to find software that actually makes use of it. I think the only debate you should be having is buy the Nexus 4 now, or wait until the next Nexus comes out, possible during the holidays. That isn't to say this phone won't still be a solid phone then, but I can understand if some people wait to buy updated versions.
To answer your question: yes. It is definitely worth it. At $350, it's fiscally irresponsible NOT to buy a Nexus 4. Right now I'm paying $30/mo for a tablet plan on AT&T with 3gb of data. Having weird and crazy options like that don't seem to happen with other phones. I feel like the Nexus 4 is YOUR phone, not 80% your phone, 20% the manufacturer's.
Spoiler alert: I might be a little biased, but c'mon. It's a sweet phone.

Not to mention the strong development support, if you're the adventurous type it's nearly impossible to hard-brick a Nexus.
Pure Android (AOSP) is rather nice by itself and I could live with that, but I like to go custom a bit .

Well battery isn't as long as say a Galaxy S3 with a 7000mAh extended battery on it. The N4 uses a 2100mAh battery and depending on your usage, it could last maybe 4 hours of constant screen usage at full brightness (screen takes most the battery), or it can last over 21 with the occasional checking of facbook, emails, etc once every couple of hours.
Here's a screenshot when I finally got it down to zero percent. (it stayed idle overnight as I slept, and then I used it here and there during the day.)

LoL, true we may be bias, but I'll at least tell you quirks I've noticed. Even so I'd still pick an N4 unless all the other brands want to ship full AOSP at the same price and include extras like maybe a micro-SD card slot or replaceable battery . I kind of wish you could use USB-OTG without a 5V adapter, but I don't use my phone the same way I use my Tablet.

Well I'm not buying a phone of any of you, so it's not like someone has to advertise it so I'd buy it. That's why I asked in N4 forum, because all of you have N4.
Basic stuff like Wifi and 3G data have hardware or driver problems. I sometimes wish I'd paid $100 more for a phone that has had more testing/QA. (Not sure there is a better phone for only $100 more, though.) I still prefer this phone to the SGS3, which has fundamentally bad OS design and poor compatibility with third party Android builds.
2 months in, and tmobile is already taking $120 off the retail price. sales must be horrendous
I bought my G4 about 1 month ago and mention this discount to a representative who credited my EIP $60 as as courtesy.
Through my trials and tribulations with the G4 I was able to submit three different rebates for both the extra battery and the 128 SD card and sold them all on eBay for an additional $270 minus fees... So all in all I'm in the G4 for dirt cheap but I'm still not satisfied with this piece of crap phone.

BAD ASS NOTE 4 & LG G4
every day I use the phone I find more bugs. I can no longer type fast because it misses so many taps. My phone is froze every morning from the wireless charger, so is my girlfriends. half the time double tapping the volume down won't open the camera. if I get a text my screen will turn on and stay on. it will never turn off until I read the text message. If I have an app up that keeps the screen on and I hit the power button, when I turn the screen back on to check the time it will stay on and never go off, even though still at lock screen. I could go on forever. I bet root would fix 98% of this. I think the worst problem, missed taps, is a hardware issue and cannot be fixed with software or root. I'm afraid the phone is complete ****.
I think everyone that has issues should try one factory reset. I feel like that solved all of my problems. Root would be very nice but not a deal breaker like it used to be for me. Now that I have kids the number one priority for me is the camera, and this is about the best there is.

Root isn't gonna fix any of it. It's not some magic thing that does anything really but make your system partition writable. If you're having all of those issues (and the same to the other people having issues) you've probably just got a bad phone from a bad batch of them. I had to RMA my first one, no further issues. Rather than continuously dump on the phone (which, by the way, I don't particularly care for either, and won't have another LG phone in the future, but my issues aren't with bad hardware/software, mostly company dynamics), try and get it fixed/replaced. Your issues will probably be largely fixed.
The factory reset is also a good idea, and will tend to fix most issues...but in the event it doesn't, simply get it replaced. But honestly the hollering about how bad the phone is...? Overall it's a decent piece of hardware. Not the best, but not the worst by any means. Take matters into your own hands and get the thing fixed/replaced.
I have has two G4 devices, and both have been flawless. I have no tap issues and I'm a fast typer. Then there are the people that have been talking about other bugs. I'm just so happy with my G4. Of course every aspect could be bettered, but that's true with every device. I love the G4 and here in Europe the prices drop on every device sooner or later. Especially in down times where people aren't buying phones. Everyone here is getting ready to go on vacation ...

root will fix most of it what are you talking about. xposed framework will fix almost everything. And I don't continuously dump on the phone, this is a thread about the phone not being that great. If you love it and have no issues go find a new thread. I don't particularly care for your opinion either. I have already had it replaced once. I have every intention on changing it out again, but I'll wait a month or so for them to fix the bugs vs getting another **** phone. I might add that when I spoke to LG they said the Verizon ones are having the most trouble.....and that the only difference was software....so once again I believe root will help.

If you didnt get it day 1 I would probably wait to let the dust settle down. I say this because I remember buy the Nexus 5 day 1 and I remember later couple months Google made some minor tweaks to the design. I just got spigen case (they released it last week) and its pretty awesome. For screen I am using skinomi and thts the only screen protector I found in amazon that doesn't block the sensor.

I wouldn't wait. You need to experience this. It is the smoothest phone I have ever used. And I've had every "flagship" there ever was.(iphones included) The Note 5 is atrocious in fluidity next to this thing. You can pop a sim card in it and go on Verizon. ( though I've seen some complaints of mms problems) As far as custom roms go, I would learn to use gravity box if you don't know now. Im not sure of the status of xposed on 6.0. Stock with your own tweaks blows CM away I think. I bought an i-blason holster case for mine which I'm actually VERY impressed with. It doesn't have a built in protector. It was only 12 bucks though!! This phone is just too big to go into a pocket.

Here are my thoughts on the phone: On the plus side, this phone is awesome. The best one Google has ever made, that coupled with the Guaranteed updates from Google, will keep phone alive and current for couple of years to come. Battery life is awesome, as well as the Camera, & the phone in general feels buttery smooth. No lags whatsoever. On the down side - There are people with gyroscope issues, Sound issues, & screen hue issues. I guess I am lucky, in those regards. I did not run into any of those issues. Also, do not expect a lot of accessories on this phone yet. lot of third party vendors are still in trial and error mode.
I am on verizon as well, I had to get me a Nano sim & then call Verizon to get the IMEI & SIM number added to the account to Activate the phone, while you are at it also ask them to add the advanced calling on to your account so that you can make calls and use internet at the same time.
At the end of the day, its your choice. But, if I were you. I would definitely buy it again.
I used to run cyanogen also. Now I'm running chroma and it is great so far. I think you should jump and get the phone. I love it.
Also I am verizon and I just put the sim card in and everything is fine.

You won't regret it. It is an incredible phone. Best phone of this year and the best Nexus to date. Once you go nexus, you will wonder why you didn't do so sooner. It is buttery smooth, fast updates for features and security fixes. Superb camera, ESPECIALLY if you love selfies. The FFC on this phone is as good as some last gen phones' rear camera.
Battery life is very good, considering I'm coming from the notorious Z3. Luckily, I haven't had any screen hue issues or audio problems but my compass doesn't work despite navigation working fine. If you spend too much time on the forums, you'll get OCD and paranoid/insecure about the phone and start ACTIVELY LOOKING for defects or imperfections. I've had my 'look' over it and used it a week now. No complaints here at all. I'm bloomin' impressed!
In the odd case that yours is defective, Google's got a very forgiving returns policy or refund.

Who knows, Huawei might revise the phone and iron out the kinks (like has happened with past devices) or they may stick with their current manufacturing processes and say the devices are with specification limits. In general, early electronic devices always have minor problems which manufacturer's sort out in later revisions.

So I'm on stock modified Jasmine ROM v6.1 with everything uninstalled besides Google apps and such. I just miss Cyanogen Mod and the themes and everything. I honestly only want the Nexus 6p for Cyanogen Mod but it will be a while till that's out for this device. Go for it in the spirit of XDA!
I'm on the same boat, have to RMA my phone but don't really want to receive a defective replacement. Do you know how long do I have to RMA my phone after receiving it?

This totally sucks.
I'm keeping and using my original, works fine. I'll take my chances, i like it too much. I've had it since the first day, so i think I'll be alright????

I had no issues with mine up graded to a safe unit, still no major concerns besides a moister detected notification and a broken Spen but minor in my book, Spen replaced phone works great. Its not going anywhere until something better comes along.

My note works fine too. Mine isnt part of the originals or replacements according to the green battery icon. But if the note is stopped, what about businesses making stuff for the note or will that taper off?

Well you either have an original or a replacement device... there are no others.
Green battery means replacement device... regardless if you bought it new that way.
Yeah im sure companies will stop making stuff... but there is a lot out there already for them to sell.

I would imagine all of the accessories for the note 7 will be really cheap soon.

Just got back from the corporate store. Returned no problems. Sad, sad day :'(
Had no problems with the original but i still exchanged when the "new" batch surfaced. Replacement is running like a champ and i couldn't be happier with it. Despite the flaw that has plagued the Note 7, it's still top of the line and my faith in Samsung has not wavered.

That's what I did. Very happy with the Edge. Only a few minor things I don't like so far.
1) The notifications don't appear on the Always On Display. If they do I can't find out where to turn them on. Google searching turned up nothing.
2) I need new cases/screen protectors/etc...
3) The USB-C port. Got very used to not having to worry about orientation when I plugged it in.
4) Smaller screen. Not by much and people I show it to don't seem to notice, but I do.
But I am happy with it. I'll use it until the Note 8 comes out.
