Laptop causes Shield TV to turn on - HDMI-CEC - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have HDMI-CEC turned on so I can turn on my Shield and have the TV turn on and change to the HDMI setting. Unfortunately, I just realized that waking my laptop from sleep also turns on my Shield TV. My laptop is not connected to my Shield via Bluetooth or anything. The Shield is connected via Ethernet cable and my laptop is connected via Wi-Fi.
Anyone know of a way to block my laptop from connecting/contacting the Shield and waking it up?
Laptop: Dell Latitude E7440
Router: TP-Link TL-WR841N
Thanks guys!
EDIT: Not sure if it's contacting it via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi/Internet.

[Q] Can I pair my N7 and PS3 controller via my laptop?

Can I pair my N7 and PS3 controller via my laptop? As in, can i connect my tablet and ps3 controller to my laptop and somehow pair them through my laptop? I dont have the cable that just hooks both of them up directly.
You're Welcome...
I use this all the time with emulators. Works great.

Sixaxis has a pairing tool I found researching the app. It let me pair my bluetooth ps3 threw my laptop. Sixaxispairingtool look it up (;
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
yep, what he said, use the sixaxis app from the play store.
here's a quick one on how it works:
you need to set the n7's bluetooth mac address as the master address in the controller, then you can just press start in the app, switch on the controller and it will pair.
on any device with usb host capabilities the updating of the mac address can be done from the device itself by first connecting the controller with a mini-usb to usb cable and a usb otg cable.
oh and by the way, this is the nexus 10 section, not the nexus 7, reported.
I am not sure it could be connected via using laptop but yes connection between N7 and PS3 controller is possible. You will have to require cable to do so. Watch the video link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhcHTHo2hEQ which show you how to connect N7 and PS3 controller each other.

[Q] Google Cast with USB Ethernet

I recently bought an Anker USB hub with gigabit ethernet and connected it to an OTG cable. My (unrooted stock) Nexus Player picks up the ethernet interface right away and works perfectly... except for casting from my phone. My phone sees the Nexus Player as a target to cast to, but video never plays. If I disconnect ethernet and re-connect my Nexus Player via WiFi it works fine.
Anyone else have this problem?

Once connection through Ethernet is established, wireless is automatically disabled.

It could possibly be your specific adapter. Like sam.balia1012 said, when you plug up an ethernet adapter, it disables your wi-fi. however, even though I have the Inatek ethernet adapter, I am still able to tab cast or chromecast things from my phone to my Nexus Player while in ethernet mode without having to switch on wi-fi.

Nexus Player no internet after waking up

Hi,
My Nexus player is connected to ethernet using OTG cable, ethernet adapter, and Comtrend powerline adapter. This works great but when I turn TV on and Nexus player wakes up from sleep after pressing remote often there is no internet connection. Resetting the Nexus player solves the problem. Is there any way to keep the Nexus player from going to sleep or make sure internet keeps working in another way? Thanks, Steve.
If you go into the NP's settings and use the toggle switch to turn off and then turn on internet, does the connection come back?

Disabling HDMI-CEC

Hi,
I'm using Snapcast to stream music to my Shield TV. It's plugged via HDMI to an receiver, itself being plugged to a TV via HDMI. When I power off the TV, the AVR stays on (I was able to disable HDMI-CEC on it), but the Shield TV goes to sleep - even if I disabled everything I could that was HDMI-CEC related. Hence, no more music…
Is there any way to completely disable HDMI-CEC on the Shield TV? I can't disable it on my TV.

ethernet / wifi question - accessories (wifi remote/wifi control) issue with ethernet

ive just realised that my sheild controller and wifi remote (amazon 4k) do not consistently work when connected by ethernet
when i plug ethernet and have a wireless connection the devices work fine and have more immediacy.
is this a bug? or a fix? with connecting by ethernet and using wifi devices... i'm guessing the ips/dns don't configure properly so its not consistently working
any tips on a fix?
