"Configure Apps" screen missing "Default Apps" menu item? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Trying to get "OK Google" to work without saying "OK Google". Found a thread that says Home Button Launcher app would work. However, when I go to the "Configure Apps" screen as described here, I don't have a "Default Apps" menu item:
http://dynamicgandroidapps.svn.cloudforge.com/main/sites/m6/marshmallow.html
From there I'm supposed to be able to go into the "Assist and voice input" option to set Home Button Launcher to do something.
Any ideas? Is this something that the Axon 7 has locked down for some reason?
(new to Android, so apologize for the pretty basic question...)

¸¸.•*¨*•.¸¸ screen activation option with BT ear set

Is there a way in which I can keep the screen locked while a BlueTooth ear set is being used in order to keep the active screen from opening other programs and calling others while in my pocket?
I believe if you hit the settings menue at the bottom left corner it says "LOCK SCREEN"
I'm failing to find "lockscreen"
clicking the "menu" button under the settings tab only brings up "all settings"
Is there another way to find lockscreen or did you, by chance, leave out a few steps?

[Q] Nook Color rooting 1.4.3-n button issues

I thought I had updated the 5.08.20.apps2sd.block_updates.zip and dalingrin kernal, but after a successful reboot the "n" button still gives me problems. When it is pressed, I am returned to the standard B&N home screen with no access to Zeam/Home Catcher. Could you please tell me what I missed? I did not perform a wipe before updating. Thanks!

Reboot the device to get back into the Zeam Launcher
Find and open the app "NookColor Tools"
Select "All Settings"
Select "Manage Applications"
Select the "All" tab
Scroll down, and select "Home"
Select "Clear defaults"
Now when you press the "n" and select home, you will be presented with an option box that says "Complete action using," check the box that says "Use by default for this actions," then select the first option that has the home icon, don't select the second one that says "Home" next to it.
Search for it.

Haven't used stock nook in a while, so correct me if i'm wrong. you go to the apps panel thing in the nook stock home, then there should be a search button somewhere. it could also be in the bottom arrow overlay (i think you bring that up now with the n button in the new updates) then you search for zeam launcher and do what previous post said.

How to (sort of) get OK Google back on any screen

For some reason OK Google Everywhere stopped functioning on my Tmobile Gs5. Even rolling back to older versions of Google's apps didn't help. I did find a kind of work around though by installing Xposed Additions and setting up a long press on the home key to bring up Google Search. Once that screen comes up you can use the "OK Google" phrase and do your search. NOTE: you must be rooted for this and have Xposed Installer installed, of course.
Xposed Additions is a bit complex, so here's how I set mine up:
download Xposed Additions, install and enable it.
Open Xposed Additions.
Select Buttons.
Select Add New Key.
Press the key you want to program (in this case, the home key).
click OK.
Under "keys" you will see "home" added.
Select Home.
Select Add New Condition.
Select Screen On.
Under conditions, you will now see Screen On, with the note under it "no active actions".
Select Screen On.
On the screen that pops up, select Single Action, Long Press.
I don't know why "disabled" comes on, just ignore it.
Now do a long press on "long press".
The "Add new Action" screen will come up.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select "Load application list"
Now scroll to "google search" and select it.
You will now be returned to the "Screen On" screen and see that the action for Google Search has been added for screen On Single Action Click.
Press your return key to go to the previous screen. You now see that "screen on" has "1 active action".
Press the return key again. You will return to the Buttons screen and see that Home has 1 condition.
Press return again to return to the Xposed Additions main screen.
You're done.

Can't turn off Google Assistant

My G900A insisted on updating itself to Marshmallow and did so when I wasn't looking. Now when I do a long press on the home button, Google Assistant pops up instead of the regular Google Search. None of the assorted fixes for this I see on the web seem to help. The best I can do is start the Google Search app, then go to "Menu > Settings > Google Assistant > Settings > Phone > Google Assistant" and turn off the slider there. Now when I long-press the home button, I get a dialog telling me to turn on Google Assistant and there's nothing there allowing me to ignore that and carry on like I did prior to this update.
Whoops! The solution is to install "Home Button Launcher". The "Assist" app needs to be manually changed for this to work. Settings -> Applications -> Default Applications -> Device assistance app. Then set the desired app to "Home Button Launcher". By default it should then launch Google Search. A little rocket will seem to come out of the home button, but that's not too terrible a distraction.

"What's on my screen" / "Take a screenshot" on Google Assistant not working

"What's on my screen" / "Take a screenshot" on Google Assistant not working
Hey, anyone else is facing issues with the Google Assistant in the gesture navigation mode? The options "take a screenshot" and "what's on my screen" does not show up in this mode but works fine with the 2/3 button navigation. I tweeted to Essential but I really doubt I'll get an answer.
