Googling all over the internet, I found some chinese forum which mentioned this can't be done. :crying:
Apparently after the xz reads the microsd it can't read sim 2. Not sure if its a haedware thing.
Taken with grain of salt, because of google translate + hearsay or hearsay
did anyone get this to work on XZ Dual? I can't fit the memory card with sim glued on top into the slot

Why? Was it too thick to fit in? I want to try as well but the sim tray looks too fragile unlike metal trays on most other dual hybrid slot phones.
That's interesting so if I buy the dual sim I have 64 GB memory dual sim + memory card

It was too thick, I even managed to damage my 128gb sandisk while doing it...
I just tried it, I superglued it to the micro SD (taping it down with masking tape so it won't move first). I only glued the edge of the sim that's facing toward the phone when inserting. Just in case I need to remove it.
It seems that sony locked out SIM 2 if you have a microSD in it. ARGH!!!
Does anyone know how to enable SIM 2 with microsd in it? some kind of console command?? Everything in SIM 2 is still somewhat visible, except grayed out and the phone refuse to read it.

I wonder if the 7.0 update will enable it... so far it doesn't seem good...
Any exposed module can unlock this?
Sorry Guys, I have installed Nougat 7.0, but two sim and one sd card all not working together in Xperia X Dual, it works only one sim and memory or two SIM at same time, I tried pasted sim on memory and insert, then only 1 SIM and Memory detected second SIM not showing, to see second SIM I have to Cover memory Card connection with paper.

According to LG quick start guide pdf: ( http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/engadget/files/Nexus4_QSG_US_Print_V1.0_121005.pdf ). The nexus 4 takes a micro sim. Is this somehow different that regular sim card? Is this different that the one used in the Samsung Galaxy SII ?
a bit confused. Just wondering if I have to give t-mobile a call to get a "micro sim card"
The s3 also uses a micro sim card.

The one in the middle is a "regular" sim card and the one on the bottom a micro sim card (which has been broken out of the "regular" one). If your "regular" sim card doesn't have these "breaking points" you could also cut it into the right size with scissors, you would need to be careful though...

thank you. i have a regular sim. Guess I'll be ordering a new one closer to launch day, i don't wanna play arts and crafts with my sim card.
A wise decision, I would not want to do that either...unless my provider would charge me for it

My "old" sim card simply does not fit in the sim card slot on my new Note 3 N9000 factory unlock. It is too wide. I mean, its that simple. I might add that I have had the card for many, many years. It's a T-mobile card from Hungary.
Thanks for your help

Hi, I had the same thing. I upgraded from my Original Note 1 to the Note 3. The sim card was way too big. The shop I bought the phone from (a big media chain) used a funky gadget to cut my card to fit the Note 3. It works great. I even got the sim card cut out so I can recreate the original larger card and use it in the original Note 1. It works there too.
Can you ask your shop to cut your card to size?

I bought the phone from Amazon in the U.S and the card is a T-Mobile so I guess I'll ask T-Mobile for help.
This baffles me. I don't understand how Samsung would produce a device that can't accept a standard SIM card.
I anticipate that T-Mobile will not help me and that I will just have to return the phone and buy another.
thanks for you prompt reply and I'm glad that you got your problem solved.

The answer to your question is that I didn't know that sim cards came in different sizes. I'll surely ask them about it tomorrow.
Thanks.
You can either ask service or just search online for sim card template. The PDF I found a year ago had the outline of a regular SIM card. I taped my card to the print out and cut along the outlines of the small card. If you look for it on the internet, you can also find information that even cutting a bit through the connectors doesn't harm the card as long as you don't cut into the chip of the card. Just make sure you use an appropriate sized pair of scissors as it's getting hard to see the outlines if the one you use is too big. But with most everything in life: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK :fingers-crossed:
Thanks, Mikegrmn.
It was news to me but there is a sim card called a micro sim which I am hoping will do the trick for me.
Apparently this is not an uncommon problem because you can buy a gizmo that will trim Sim cards

Yes, like I said. That there are tools available was known to me. But when I bought my razr HD last year, it was some time close to the end of the week and a colleague told me that he had such a tool and that he would bring it the day after. Well, he forgot, and by Satarday night, I was so impatient that I just used my scissors and the template. Stores are closed here from Saturday afternoon to Monday and my colleague was out somewhere with his GF. And as I always use prepaid SIMs, I thought I'd give it a try. Hadn't itworked out, I'd just gotten a new SIM and a new phone number. I only hand out my number to a couple of people for my private phone, so changing numbers isn't a biggy

Trying really hard to accept that this isn't a wind up!
Micro-SIMs have been around for years, but didn't really hit consumer products until the iPhone was released 3 years ago.
Pretty much every flagship phone uses them now, except the iPhone 5 which uses an even smaller NANO-SIM. My Galaxy Note 1 was the last phone I owned that used a regular mini-SIM, and that was 2 years ago.
The world has moved on, and you've been left behind!
Regards,
Dave

Yup the Note 1 uses a regular sized sim
The Note 3 uses a Micro-Sim
You can pick one up from your carrier as replacement to swap your plan into
OR
Just cut your old sim..
All the posts above me got you covered :good:
The micro sim is the next generation sim cards. Every carrier supply new micro cards on demand. If not they are closing down pretty fast couse this is the new standard.
Why would you bother bying tools when a new micro sim is only one call to support away??...!
Smaller cards = more space awailable when designing phones.
Do you not remember when sim cards was the size of a credit card?

Hello i just bought samsung a8 and thought i would be able to use both dual sim cards and micro sd, but to my disapointment i have to choose either second sim card or micro sd. can anyone propose something please? maybe a dual sim adapter or something else?
No, it is 1 sim, 1 SD. You should have done your research.

no one would ever think about this. You see dual sim and micro sd, all that you need you just buy it. i didn't even know if a hybrid slot existed. anyway i love this phone so i'll deal with it.

It hasn't been launched globally, only a few countries in the Far East have it, hence the link mentioned by one person in this thread was to an SM-G935S which is the SK Telecom variant.
Doubtful the phone will be released with a 935F/FD SKU since nobody in Europe would be willing to pay such a hefty price for it. Might as well just get the Black Onyx and pop a 128 GB SD Card in it.
The problem is when we have to use 2 sim cards then we are out of space.
I've got the sim card double taped to microsd thing, so no issue with space.
If the memory card got corrupted then what will be the result.

Have been thinking of doing this. But I have read a few reports of the tray getting stuck. Did you have to sand down or reduce the thickness of the MicroSD card or the SIM?
Also, does this work on the latest Nougat beta? I remember reading that Samsung had disabled this mod via software.

Since here in Indonesia, sim card is a lot cheaper than microsd. I do all the modification (burn, sanded down) on it. I also make sure they stick firmly with double tape. Destroy 3 sim card but it's only cost $1 for replacement per card.
This is my first non root android, so no Nougat for me.
Hi I just want to ask a question..
Can I soldered a SIM card slot into a tablet that doesn't already have a SIM slot??
Yes I know there are tablets with SIM slots but I have several spare tablets and spare parts..
Thanks

I don't think you can do this because most tablet use different CPU that cut off the modem support like phone for reducing cost.
if you find way to do it, tell me and i like to try it too.
