Discussions related to Google Pixel used/bought in/out of Philippines goes here. Please avoid OT as far as possible.
Picked up a Google Pixel 32GB from the gray market last week. Prices are still quite high. I am told the source is the India market, and the packaging and included AC Adapter seems to confirm this.
I can confirm Google Photos recognizes the Pixel and says photos and videos will be backed up at original quality. I wasn't sure it would since it's been found some features like Support don't work outside the launch countries.
I'm using the phone on Smart network, and here is the major disappointment: LTE Data flat out does not seem to work, at least in the areas where I find myself. I've set the phone to prefer 3G networks, but missing LTE speeds and coverage that I got out of the 5X (such as it is for Smart).
Finding a case for it in stores has been pretty much impossible (Spigen are only selling the XL cases), so I ended up ordering from Lazada where I found one sold by Ringke Direct.
An update on the situation with Smart LTE data: this seems fixed in the 7.1.1 update (NMF26O), or even in the Canadian update (NPF26J), as I now get mobile data in LTE preferred. I do still find spots where LTE shows no internet connection where I need to switch to 3G only. This may already be down to Smart's network as I recall in the past that my Nexus 5X had the same problem forcing me to go 3G.
I hope the local carriers would bring the Pixel here in the Philippines. Just got the OG Pixel recently and I love it. Wanting to get the Pixel 2 but it is just too pricey in grey markets and isn't covered by warranty.

Bought 16 gig wifi tab 10.1 from Curries Ponterfact last week
found out after opening the box cannot use this in France on wifi
spoke to customer (jobs worth) services waste of time even though
i am within 21 days for a return and willing to pay extra for the 3g tab
they will not take it back as the box has been opened.?
Statutory rights m8.
If the item is not fit for purpose they are obligated to fix it.
If it can't be fixed then replaced if can't replace you can get a refund.
Just because Currys have their own returns policy doesn't mean that you don't have rights.
They will try prove that item is faulty or does not work properly but obviously they won't be able to, only thing you need to remember is that the customer is always right

+1you have rights to take it back

I think you may have misunderstood, there's some text that say's you can't use the Tab WiFi in France only if you're outdoors. Something to do with frequency interference, I'm sure it'll work fine indoors though. I'm taking my Tab to France at the end if next month.

Did you actually try it?
Something like this makes no sense. WiFi is WiFi, there's nothing that will make it not work in a specific country.
Exception: In Japan/Europe, there are a few extra channels not present in the United States.
Also, all European countries use the same frequencies.
Israel has a specific restriction on outdoor use of four channels.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels
As to it being fit for use - it was fit for use in the country it was sold in. If you want to guarantee fitness for use in your own country, buy it in your own country.

Your wifi will work, but you're not supposed to use any wifi device outdoors in France by the looks of it. A google search shows that lots of people have found the same warning in their device instructions, although many seem to ignore it.

I have had the same customer return 3 times because of the issue. In all his apps (facebook, instagram, browser, and more) all pictures being loaded from the web are coming in at low pixelated quality. The first time he came in our Samsung rep was there and said he had no idea why it would do that and after we both looked through the settings we decided to try a factory reset..
That worked for about a day and he returns with the same issue. So we replaced his device. Here it is 2 days later and now he's experiencing the same issue again.
It's not the reception. His wife got the same phone and she has not had any of those issues. He connected to WiFi and it's still coming in at extremely low quality.
What could be the issue?? Is there a setting that's he's getting into that could cause all online photos to render at a low quality?
Attached are screenshots of the issue.

nobody knows???
Nobody knows anything about this? This has been an issue with Samsung devices dating back to the original galaxy s. I've searched all over the web with people posting these exact same issues. And not a single person has been able to come up with any kind of solution or thought about what could be causing this. My own rep has no clue what it could be either. One of the employees had the same issue the other day with her s3. Couldnt figure out why it happened but a simple factory reset fixed the issue. It came back of course. But it seems like it's only effecting Samsung devices. So at least one of you guys here had to of ran into this problem at least once.

UPDATE
it seems to have been caused by switching from and to an lte network. Found out after digging around that a customer with an iPhone 5 reported the same issue. Apparently somewhere along the way to and from lte/3g data compression is an issue. Thanks for all your help guys.......

im pretty sure us from xda-developers can get around the exclusion of mcafee, if anything a rom based on those variants should be enough unless its built into the hboot or aboot whatever its called on the lg g3
At some point, I think Google may incorporate that into Android L or later, that's the rumor going around anyhow. I do hope it is true.
Just in case anyone didn't know this as well, the G3 will not have wireless charging out of the box either here in the US (I have the South Korean version in the USA, same here). The carriers will push us to get the QuickCircle case with qi capabilities.

The original document that was from can be downloaded from LG. Won't let me post links till i've done 10 posts, though if you google "G3 (LG-D855) Customer Service Guide" it comes up.
Looks like a customer services guide for staff. Gives an overview of other features plus the table above on where McAfee is pre-installed.
I states in the specs table: "space memory available to users" with "32gb model: 23gb" and "16gb model: 10gb"
I wonder why the 32GB uses 9GB out of the factory and the 16GB only 6GB...?
Mcafee told me... Kill switch is LG's feature..
I have to admit, after ordering my Nexus 5x i was a little worried thinking the lack of Band 12 til T-Mobile/Google gets it sorted out was going to give me crap signal. Boy was I wrong! [emoji1] Obviously this is all relative to location, but I couldn't be happier with these results and willing to wait for official Band 12 support.

While I don't see speeds that high, I do agree on being pleasantly surprised with the 5X speeds on T-Mobile. I get considerable higher speeds than I did on my Moto X 2014, and LTE signal in a couple places the Moto would drop to edge. Considering Moto has a reputation for having some of the best radios, I was happy to see a noticeable signal increase with the 5X.
T-Mo user here as well. I have to say this is the strongest radio I have had in a phone yet. I even get a signal in my basement without band 12. Well done LG.
I´ve seem similar results on att. Much faster than any previous phone i've had.
It's also nice how the phone can take voice calls over LTE without falling back to H or H+. Can browse the web wile on hold

Has speedtest app been updated in the last 2-3 years?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
H0tep, it was just updated last week.
I'm getting similar speeds on Sprint when I'm at work. At home though, i get about 1/3 that.

Well, my Verizon only gets 68.47M download speed. so sad
Since I moved my SIM from my Moto X Pure Edition to the 5x I've only been able to get a connection of 5mb down and .50mb up. Not sure what it could be
Hi Ladies and Gents,
So as you all have been wandering around Android flagships this year waiting for Google's 2nd innovative google pixel 2/xl.
Speedtest is a normal thing to do to determine how good modems are inside such phones. As well as to test how good their carrier aggregation is.
I have went through Huawei's Mate 10, to OP5 to S8 to Note 8. All of which were impressive. The last test was around 188mbps in my carrier Etisalat/Abu Dhabi using Note 8 N9500 (hong kong version on October 5th update).
So I was testing my new Pixel 2 XL which is the US version on speedtests multiple times and I have been getting an average of 68mbps using (October 5th update also).
I would love to get user's feedback on their speedtests. Please share your experience and tips in order to maximize the network speed performance.
So how is this measurable on a radio level from one carrier/country to another ?
Just today I got 144 down and 40 up. Verizon LTE. Fastest I've ever had.
This was the best result I've seen - Telus network in Calgary, Canada

I love the XL 2, it's a super solid device. Anyways, here's my top speedtest off T-Mobile with 2xCA LTE (30MHz B4 + B2, - NSG) https://i.imgur.com/ILhCvaV.jpg (147.7/24, 30 ms)
Here's my top speedtest on WiFi over 5GHz AC at my house with Spectrum 300Mbit Ultra https://i.imgur.com/5qKVK5X.jpg (344.8/22, 10 ms)
My speeds seem really low, given that I'm on the outskirts of a metropolis
T-mo Lte just got 162mbps. Highest I've got was 180mbps. And that's sitting front of my tv
