I bought a J7 2016 for the bigger screen, expandable memory and root access. I also have a verizon s6 edge 32 Gb. I know the J7 is not a flagship phone but am I really downgrading that much here? Which phone should I keep?
if you want to test different roms, files and stuff, (develop root apps) then keep j7 16 (i hope it is unlockeed)
but anyway, as a daily driver s6 edge is better choice

@startier the thing is op said he/she has verizon version this means the bootloader is locked. it will be much more easy to flash on j716 as it is already unlocked!

Hi.
Not a very useful title for a thread. Most everyone needs help or help in having a question answered...
And also your question isn't something to be answered clearly...
You could root your device. If you need it is your decision. Do you see clear benefits in it? Are you aware, that there is no way to do it without tripping knox atm?
Do you have a device with an exynos processor in the first place? If it is a snapdragon you could forget the whole idea of rooting at this point, because there is no way to root it atm.
ah.. okay. must have missed the device model type.. yes, you can root. you have the exynos...

The SM-T550 might get the update, but more than sure, it will get a custom rom with Nougat, which might be kind of better for permissive kernels and the system would be more easier to modify than the S2 which is going to stick with the "Google Pixel" non-root policy which will make it harder for custom roms and /system rooting to be able to download in the tablet.
Hope I helped.:good:
Hello, does anyone know if the Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F) firmware works on S8 (SM-950F)?
Now why would you want that?

I already tried that. And it didn't work for me. My question was why I needed to try to degrade Nougat from Oreo.
I have SM-950F Oreo bootload v2 and to degrade to Nougat I suppose I would need SM-950F Nougat v2, however I searched and there is no v2 Nougat for Galaxy S8. As a last option I searched for Nougat v2 in S7 and if I found stock rom with that bootload.
But when he tried to flash, he simply wouldn't allow it on Odin.

Of course not. Different phone, hardware etc. It won't work.
U will likely to get your phone bricked if you are able to flash. But unlikely u can flash it.
Ehm no... S7 diffrent hardware that will never ever work

You might get a quicker response by providing more specific information. You'll need to give phone model information (G930F? G930W8? G930VZ? Exynos? Snapdragon? etc.). Once you have that figured out then a Google search might even be more productive.
