hi everybody
I have a problem with my phone, it is not due to update in this threat.
when I power off my phone, I can't power it on, and also when I put it in the charge
the recovery mode does not start. I don't know why. after some moment it restarts.
can anyone confirm this happens for him/her?
anyone can help please?
thanks.
have you tried back to stock?
Anyone know of a custom rom for the Nexus7 (grouper) that removes the built-in android feature to enable safe mode via volume down key?
Reason: I have a nexus 7 with a broken volume down key.
Therefore it always boots into fastboot, and then then on start, boots into safe mode.
Steps taken to rectify button problem:
1. I have already replaced the Power & Volume Button Cable and it did not fix it. I am assuming that it is a mainboard issue.
2. I have also re-flashed 4.4.2 (KOT49H) factory image, just in case something was stuck.
So I was thinking if it could be solved via software (custom rom), by either disabling safe boot entirely or remapping keys early enough in the boot sequence.
Seems a shame for this thing to be almost useless (no 3rd party apps) just because of a broken volume button.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

BUMP: I am having the exact same problem. I also replaced the volume button cable and that didn't solve it.
Hystrix0 did you ever solve this issue?
Nope, dhowell1, I did not.
I had to tell my sister she can use it for.... browsing the web? It's almost useless.

Hi all,
I hope I am posting in the correct place.
I got my screen fixed by a guy and he returned the phone with the volume buttons not working.
He told me to do a factory reset but I forgot I had a custom Rom installed(extrestolite) so after factory reset the phone is stuck on android screen and I can't use the volume button to boot into recovery. When I connect the phone to my laptop it doesn't show up as an adb device because its not fully booting I presume. So I can't adb shell into recovery either. Do I have any other options here or has my stupidity and this guys incompetent work doomed my phone? Thanks guys.
Did the volume keys work before the screen repair?
If yes, I'd open the phone again and see if it is a simple fix

Yes the functionality of the phone was perfect before the screen fix. I went to a shop and the guy said the volume buttons are soldered to the motherboard(replacing or reconnecting the buttons was my first thought) is this true?
Can you boot into download mode and flash the stock rom with the microSD hack?
Hi,
I'm having issue with a GT-I9505 S4 phone after droped it in the water, key combinaison to turn the phone up are altered, if i only push "power" button, the phone boot in recovery mode, if i push "volume down + home + power" the phone boot android in normal mode.
I've tryed to re-install samsung stock rom, the problem persist, i've tryed to install cyanogenmod 12 and problem still here too.
It's seem the water have corrupted a firmware (maybe qualcomm's firmware?) so i don't find which one !
When powering the phone with "volume down + home + power", all work just fine !
I've checked if some buttons are stuck, so it's seem they work fine too.
Partition mapping seems good, using adb to restart the phone in recovery, download or normal mode work fine, so if i try to reboot from android's menu, it boot in recovery mode.
Does anyone have some help or infos to help me to solve this problem?
Is it possible to "re-map" the key combinaison for turning up the phone?
Thank in advance
Kev
