Hello , I have been trying to connect an external wifi adapter running on a rtl8188 chipset to my redmi 2 using an otg cable. I had installed nethunter on my phone, all the applications and attacks were working perfectly but when I tried to connect my external wifi adapter it was not recognized. I did some research and found that miui stock kernel did not support external adapters so I flashed cm 13(does flashing a rom change the kernel too?). I haven't yet flashed nethunter because I wanted to be sure before installing it. So will the external adapter work in cm 13?

Hi,
there are many ROMs out there for our beloved Nexus 10, but it seems that only few support external storage via USB OTG. I couldn't figure out how to enable it manually. Is there any kind of mod or kernel that does the trick? I tried some apps on the play store, but I don't like the idea of an app sitting between the android system and storage hardware.

I think all custom kernels have USB OTG support in them, and maybe I am ignorant since I dont care about OTG support but I thought all "major" ROMs worked with them. Hmm.
Maybe you're right, but in that case USB OTG seems not to necessarily include USB OTG storage. I noticed, that while ParanoidAndroid did not recognize my USB storage device, it was still able to detect things like mouse and keyboard correctly.

USB OTG Information:
1. Auto-mount to /storage/usbdisk
2. Files accessible by all applications, processes and users
3. Currently works with FAT & NTFS partitions
4. Full read-write access for FAT USB disks, read-only access for NTFS USB disks
5. This does not conform to the Android 4.2 multi-user capabilities. All users have full access to the OTG storage
6. If you are using another custom kernel, make sure it does not overwrite the ramdisk changes or you make lose OTG support
I am sure there are other ROMS. Do a "OTG Support" search in the "Nexus 10 Android Development" forum and find what suits you.
Cm 10.1 and AOKP both support native OTG for USB drives. :thumbup:

it seems like the only up-to-date ROMs that aim on native USB OTG storage are indeed cm10.1 and aokp.
however, apascual89's paranoidandroid might soon support it too.
i think that is worth having an eye on it.

i flashed my n7 2012 to the latest slimbean.its rly sweet.fast and smooth
and i use the m-kernel
but i lately found i can't use the otg function.im not sure whether its becuz of the slimbean or m-kernel.i can ensure it works when i use the stock rom with the stickmout.but now when i connect the otg cable with the usb storage,the stickmout can't recognize it,and in the storage section of the setting,its empty in the area of the removable disks,let alone whether i can see the content of the usb disk thro the explorer...

I have Samsung Galaxy Note 3, SM-N9005 Snapdragon version.
I bought USB OTG cable from dx.com, with microUSB 3.0 for S5/Note 3.
When I connect mouse or keyboard, it works.
But when I connect USB flash drive, or external HDD it mounts, but after 3-5 seconds it un-mount.
Is there any way, fix or some xposed module to have it working?
I have rooted my phone and I am running on custom ROM (CRASH ROM v16), based on stock XXUGNG1 PDA, Ultimate Kernel v55.

It won't mount NTFS drives. Try a usb drive on fat32. It will work.

I faced the same problem when I bought my Otg cable. Here's what I did maybe it helps.
I copied all my flash memory and external hard drives content on my laptop then I formatted them in exFat and it was immediately recognized by the stock rom android 4.4.2 N90005.

I got my Y OTG CABLE yesterday and I wanted to plug my external HDD into my phone. I tried everything yesterday but i couldn't make it work. The disc was turned on but I couldn't see it on my phone. I tried many apps that they were supposed to do the job (like stickmount) but no luck.Can you help me fix it? I have This Kernel and I'm on Android L
Solved! Checked usb otg option on Synapse app that comes with kernel, saved changes, installed stickmount and plugged my external hdd on otg. Note: i checked su on boot on supersu because some times was kinda hard to connect external devices.

just purchased my redmi pro with miui 8.0.4.0. working great!! only noted that the OTG function is not working. does not detect my thumbdrive despite using adapter for usb type c and formatting thumbdrive to fat32.
file transfer via pc works well.
is it because the miui not being original?
please help.

now working. Had to purchase Remax usb 3.0 to type C to work. don't buy non branded adapters.
