Verizon Just Leaked the Google Pixel, Featuring Something Called 'Google Magic'
I seriously hope Google doesn't disappoint with this event, or with the hardware released in it.

I do hope the prices aren't as high as rumored. The standard Pixel is the perfect size and specs for me, but at £500 for the 32GB model, it just seems too high. I am hoping for £399, but think I am dreaming there.
Rumor of $870 for xl 128gb is INSANE. There better be a lot more to this deal than we have heard so far
I'm also concerned about no mention of a 64gb version - 32 too small, 128 too much.
It might be that the 64gb version is only available directly from google.
While looking through the Google Store, I stumbled across the Nexus Protect pricing for the new Pixel phone. It looks like it will be $99 and includes 2 years of accidental damage. The deductible is $79 for the Pixel and $99 for the Pixel XL, in order to get a replacement. I think these are the same price tiers as it was for the Nexus 5X/6P, but I am not 100% certain. For reference, AppleCare+ on the iPhone 7 is $129 and it costs $29 for a screen replacement or $99 for a phone replacement.

The price is shocking expensive.

HTC is Google’s manufacturing partner for the Pixel.
Yes you are right Google doesn't have (and doesn't need) the facilities to literally manufacture phones, that's why it relies on hardware partners.
Pixel will change the way we enjoyed the Nexus devices. Better enjoy now. They may start manufacturing their own chips for the furture pixel devices. Not sure if I want this to happen??
Google's "first ever" phones or just Nexus devices by another name. ?
A few Pixel XLs have now hit Geekbench, but Sorry to say the results don't look amazing. The Google Pixel XL scores around 1600 points on the single-core test and 4000 on the multi-core one.
The Pixel and Pixel XL may gain support for Android-based OS with amped up security
The biggest news is that Google Assistant, which is sort of like a souped-up version of Siri for Android, will remain exclusive to the Pixel and Pixel XL, in the near future at least.
If you own a Nexus 6P, however, you’ll be able to use Assistant even before the Pixel is released. This thread has a pretty extensive tutorial on how to get it working.
Google spends $3.2 million on ads for the Pixel and Pixel XL in just two days.
Telstra Australia accidentally shipped some Google Pixel phones early.

I feel like a sap. I signed a 2 year contract and bought a Fender MyTouch. I have been wanting to replace my blackberry Pearl flip with a decent phone and I thought I could settle for the mytouch with boosted ram but I just feel like I spent money on an out of date device.
don't get me wrong. I like it. and I love android like I knew i would. and this device is leaps and bounds better than what I thought of touch screen devices before android phones came out. but is it worth keeping?
I was bothered by the fact that I learned I could have gotten a Nexus One for the same price. and that tmobile wouldn't refund my phone. so I looked up how this phone resold. surprisingly well! so I put it on Craig's list for 350 and to my second surprise I found a buyer.
now being the packrat I am. I am having second thoughts. I hate to let it go being stuck with tmobile contact prices. and I hate the idea of going back to my Pearl Flip.
the device I really want and have wanted since before it released in the US is the TP2. it has been out of my price range but with 350 I'm trying to score one on ebay in that budget. not so easy.
should I sell the phone, switch back to the crapberry, hope to score a cheap Rhodium, and have little money to pay bills?
or should I stick to my investment, be strapped for cash till for a bit, and learn to love the phone i have?
do you think rooting the phone flashing some roms, the new android upgrade supposedly coming for it, or time will make me love it?
or should I have listened to every review that says even with the memory boost and gimmick it's still a mediocre device and should now take the offer and try for something better?
I spent about 200 on it and getting 350 still puts me out about 90-110$ due to high contract prices but gives me a chance to get a TP2.
this is an lame first post but let me know your thoughts.
sell it and get a nexus one. then, in 5 months, kick yourself and buy the NEXT badass htc phone.
look how much faster they are already.
awesome.
postscript
i'm buying a mytouch tonight, for much less than the list. we'll see if i like it. if not, it's resale on craigslist - quick, and buying a nexus.
i think i'll like it though.
My $0.02
Sell it. So many great phones that will come out this year.
HTC HD2 is coming out in March 24th on T-Mobile, but the Windows Mobile OS might not be your forte.
Also, there's the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
The rumored Nexus Two (aka Motorola Shadow) might have hardware keyboard.
Rumors of HTC Scorpion 1.5Ghz processor at the end of the year.

Sold it. Cant afford a Nexus One still but i am getting a used Rhodium.
Want an Leo but it will be awhile before i can afford it. That motorola shadow looks gey. The scorpion looks awesome and sexy but i think the Leo is sexier.
Seriously if HTC put a slideout rhodium keyboard and a few of other bells and whistles on a Leo and called it a Touch pro 3 i'd sell my kidney for it right now.
I could not ordered the damn Nexus 4...so was lurking around for alternative. Today I saw new Droid DNA. It seems like a good alternative matching up everything Nexus 4 can do but has more like 440 ppi or 1080 x 1920 resolution, wifi 5ghz, and support LTE and GSM unlocked. The resolution alone kick Nexus 4, S3 LTE i9305 and iphone 5 butt already...so now I have a dilema
When comparing the Nexus 4 to DNA & S3 LTE (i9305), it seems to have true google experience only over DNA and nothing much else. All 3 are quadcore and 2GB ram.
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/co...-4,Samsung-Galaxy-S-III/phones/7498,7531,6330
Even though they seem to have same hardware, somehow DNA outperform Nexus 4 on benchmark...not sure why

So now, I'm thinking if I can't get Nexus 4 by end of Nov, I'm going to grab a Droid DNA instead since it is gsm unlocked. What do you guys think?
I think it might be down to the thermal throttling that everyone is posting about, wait for some Kernel development and i believe the N4 will start to hit it's stride.
I am convinced that it all has to do completely with the Linux kernel they're using. It needed a couple more weeks of development and unfortunately, it wasn't ready for prime time but I am sure that the XDA community will make it kick the competition's ass within 3-4 weeks of steady development.
As always, it's all about what you want, want the AOSP experience along with a MASSIVE (understatement of the year) development community with great, quality hardware?
I don't need to bother selling you on the Galaxy S III, it's a great phone.
or do you want the DROID DNA which will be locked down, much more expensive but in return, you get the much higher resolution screen.
You need to ask yourself, do the pros of the DROID's screen outweigh the additional $300-400 cost? For me, not at all. It's new tech and it's never good to be an early adopter with HTC (as I learned with the HTC Thunderbolt). Not to mention we've hit the point where these phones are often more powerful than most PCs and next year's focus will be 1080P displays along with battery tech meaning the next Nexus will probably be everything you want plus more.

Anyone know if these will be able to work on Sprint? (If one is purchased fully unlocked from Nokia)
Won't work on Sprint. I've been waiting for this. Not thrilled about the overall design and color choice but really wish I had a camera for low light and I have the 8X. Camera is decent but not nearly as good as this Nokia. Also looking forward to bigger screen again as my primary Phone is DNA. Really looking forward to this.

I would, but...
Both the wife and I have Sprint Sero accounts ($40 a month each), for unlimited web, text, blah blah blah. The same thing on Verizon would run me I think $150 for 2 phones.
Love the phone, hate the one-carrier release. At some point, Nokia is going to blame poor US sales for their poor overall performance. And while they won't "get it," I'm going to point to their carrier-exclusivity model. People love the SGS4 and HTC One because they are available on all carriers at similar launch windows, leading many to expect good OEM support. Carrier-branded exclusives scare people away.
One of the OnePlus staff have made it clear that OPO is on the last production-batch......

ok
It's been almost 2 years and my OPO is still strong as hell and still a ton of fun with random roms!
Sent from my A0001 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Some sites are still selling some styleswap. But it may be a good idea to get some of the replacement parts, just in case.
That's a bad news, maybe we can build a statue for our OPO, cause this is a legend phone LOL
Maybe switch to nexus 6P if this is true..
Good run while it lasted

It wont die like this.
not any phone.
The spare parts and other stuff will be stocked up to top to provide future needs.
and the OnePlus THREE will also conquer this bacon love.
RIP Sweet Prince. You'll always live on in our hearts.
If this is true, it's now officially over, both 16gb and 64gb models are now out of stock :'(

It is true but OPO production is still on it last batch in limited quantity and i think it will be officially over before OP3 is launched in june....
What do you expect... A phone that's 2 years old, already 2 newer models and a 3th one in the near future.
Which doesnt mean I love this phone. I hope the OP3 is a pimped OPO. Bit more ram, fingerprint and dualism pls ?
They cant even get the bugs worked out of the 2 and the X and now they are decommissioning their only "flagship" phone. They had better make sure the 3 is way above and beyond that of the 1 or I see a dismal future for OP.

It's hard to call the OPO "their only 'flagship' phone" when it was superseded by the OP2 last year. Regarding the new device being "way above and beyond that of the 1" I don't think any manufacturer has released any device that's "way above and beyond" their flagships from 2 years ago, which is why flagship handset sales in the developed world have been relatively stagnant for the last year. There just hasn't a compelling reason to upgrade, because devices haven't improved that much over previous models the last couple of years.
The YotaPhone 3 is coming later this year
But there are very few details so far
by Micah [email protected] Jun 16, 2017, 3:59pm EDT
https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2017/6/16/15821268/yotaphone-3-price-release-date
The YotaPhone 3 has apparently been announced at a conference in Northern China. The successor to the YotaPhone 2, which made some waves when it came with an E Ink display on its back, will also feature a rear E Ink display, with an AMOLED screen on the front.
The dual-screen smartphone will come in 64GB and 128GB versions for $350 and $450, respectively, and will be available in Russia and China this fall. Other than that, Yota Devices hasn’t said much about the device. They did release this very vague blacked-out photo back in April, however:
Whether the YotaPhone 3 will make its way to the US is another question. Yota Devices has a poor track record with making its devices available in the States — it killed the release of the YotaPhone 2 after a launching a crowdfunding campaign to bring it to the US.
Hopefully things will change this time around, and there will be a US version of the YotaPhone 3. Yota Devices is expected to announce more details around the smartphone later this summer.
I wonder if it will be 5.5 inch like most phones these days. I wouldn't mind that paired with a 5 inch e-ink display

Specs released!
https://www.engadget.com/2017/06/18/yotaphone-3-yota3-specs-snapdragon-625/
You almost guessed it! 5.5 AMOLED and 5.2 EPD!
the Snapdragon 625 will make the Yota 3 look obsolete by the time it launches this fall
WTF, no 6 gorillion core trans-quantum bio 88 dimension CPU? ARETHEYSERIOUS!!!!!??
If they're prioritising affordability and availability over luxury, it might just make a difference to the trivial business they made with Yotaphone 1 and 2 considering the brand value struggled to garner trust on a global scenario, price should be a critical measure to tantalise potential market spheres.

This. Snapdragon 625 is the chip in my Moto Z Play. I have never ever encountered any problems whatsoever and the battery lifetime is insane. I am actually really happy to hear they are using something with a bit less energy hunger than most new phones.

I've not seen anyone try adjusting the light levels of the blacked-out Yota3 photo, so here's my attempt to reveal something: https://pasteboard.co/GFM7044.jpg

Well, they posted first 3 official images of YOTA 3, design is really similar to Yota 1, it will be bigger but...idk Yota 2 still looks beautiful
http://4pda.ru/2017/08/23/346239/
It would seem that the Yota 3 does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack... No deal.
