Have you tried flashing the recovery.img and the corressponding rom image?
You can get these from the wiki
If all else fails, and you cannot recover using fastboot etc, then try QDLTool again from the wiki

Yes you did WHAT?
Normally installing stock ROM will cure most things unless you have internal issues.
Flash stock recovery.img for the stock ROM you want to get back to... I would suggest 360. You should already have downloaded the stock ROM update.pkg file that corresponds to the stock recovery.img you flashed in fastboot. Make sure you don't have any other files on the root of your SD that conflict with you update.pkg and MOST importantly, make sure it's named "update.pkg"
Boot into recovery and choose option 2 to update. IF it gets stuck (now this first boot after installing stock ROM may take 20 minutes or so), then pull the battery, boot into recovery, and choose to do a factory reset again
Hi guys
I'm hoping somebody could please help me with my somewhat-bricked device..bricked in the sense that I don't know what to do with it. (i'm a noob to this). I've tried installing a custom rom and completely screwed up my dell streak 5.
So the phone doesn't boot anymore and just takes me to the option to install update.pkg off the sd card. I added the file along with recovery.img to the sd card.
360 17397 00 May 31, 2011 PKG Recovery Hash Latest Retail rom
My problem is that I cannot for whatever reason get Flashboot to work in order to flash the recovery.img first. under device manager you see android phone/android adb interface but still can't manage the connection to use cmd prompt/fastboot.
Is there any other way of getting the recovery.img to work without fastboot/thru the sd card. I have no idea what i'm doing anymore. I've tried installing the update.pkg but after installation it just stays on the dell logo loading screen forever.
PLEASE help if you can.
Try QDLTool

once in fastboot your command line is
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (will take just about 3 or 4 seconds then type)
fastboot reboot (it will begin to reboot and you should press the volume up and down keys to get into recovery, you should already have the package on your sd card, choose option 2 to update... if it hangs, you don't have to flash recovery again, just boot into recovery and try a factory reset, if it hangs, well flash the ROM again

Can I please have some advice guys
I am on stock 4.2.1 at the moment I want to install the minco ROM with Francis kernel to do this
1. Unlock boot loader
2. Root & install cwm recovery
3. Make a backup (don't known how)
4. Add the ROM and kernel into internal storage on laptop
5. Go into recovery mode and flash ROM and kernel (can I flash both at the same time or does it have to be done separately)
6. Reboot
Guys am I right or have I missed something's
Apologies its first time for me and I'm going to do with without toolkits
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Looks pretty good.
3.Once you're in recovery, you'll see the backup option.
5. Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache and flash ROM, then kernel.
Good for you for not using a toolkit.
Thanks very much for that

I would highly recommend twrp recovery instead. It is what most developers use these days.
Do you know how to setup the usb / adb / fastboot on your computer?
If so, all you need to do is download the .img file from the twrp website for the n4, boot into the bootloader (from power off, hold volume down and then press power while holding vol down), and the commands are:
Fastboot oem unlock (then look at your phone...choose the option with volume, select with power)
Fastboot flash recovery insert_name_of_recovery_file_here.img
Then reboot, put minco and the newest Franco kernel on your sd card, reboot to bootloader, choose recovery, make your backup there(will be obvious how to do this), wipe data / factory reset, and then install minco and the newest Franco.
Let me know if you need more help

Do I save the TWRP image file anywhere on the c:\ or do i move it into my phones sd card
I take it the command oem unlock- unlocks my phone -
does fastboot flash recovery root my phone or does it install the recovery
Do I need to root my phone what would the command be for it
Thanks again

You put the twrp image file in the same folder as your fast boot binary.
Fast booting recovery will not give you root. You need to flash the recovery, have the su zip on your phone and then go into your custom recovery (twrp) and flash the super user zip. Then you will obtain root.
Rooting your phone is simply flashing that zip file.
Custom rom is simply flashing that zip.
Kernel is simply flashing that zip.
Except for custom rom you need to wipe factory settings before flashing to have the phone to boot up.
The way to fastboot recovery is the command,
Fastboot flash recovery name-of-recovery.img
Replace name of whatever with the file you downloaded (don't actually type name of recovery lol)

Is this is TWRP for Marshmallow? Because the recovery files.you have uploaded are dated 25th September 2015?
@mfbcool yes...this is for Marshmallow... But dont swipe allow modifications!!
Member gettin error after swiping...just do read only...
I root my device by this method yesterday
but today root not work in titanum backup
I check it by root checker and everything is ok
Even though this method works, I would not recommend moving SuperSU to system partition. I didn't moved it and still SU permissions are working fine. I say so because Chainfire in his new SuperSU adopted a 'Systemless Root' method that roots without modifying the system partition so that apps like Android Pay work properly. He achieved this by patching the Boot image and so root is installed in boot image and is enabled at every boot (that's why you may experience some boot loops after rooting). This makes taking OTA updates and unrooting the device easier as you can unroot by flashing the Stock Boot.img instead of flashing the whole system partition.
I believe moving SuperSU to system partition destroys the main purpose and idea Chainfire had while making SuperSU compatible with Marshmallow. We all know EMUI won't update on Rooted devices. So it would be a pain to reflash whole Stock System Partition before taking OTA.
Hi thanks, I'm root my mobile I'm in android 6.0 now how to get back to kikkat a stock rom from twrp
@G E N E R A L open supersu app and tick the mount name separation and restart phone... Titanium, kingroot all will recognize root
Hit thanks if it helps....
@TMDMOOSA if you wanna go back to KK, Flash stock recovery first!!
Then flash the back pkg B320, then B070
If you gets error, flash middle pkg of chc rom and then flash directly KK Rom usin stock recovery!!

I have successfully built TWRP 3.0.0-0 for our device which fixes the weird swipe to allow modifications bug and is fully compatible with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/recovery-twrp-3-0-0-0-huawei-honor-4c-t3349495
Also, to re-flash Stock ROM, you don't need to flash Stock Recovery. Huawei phones have 2 inbuilt recoveries. The second recovery (which is the Stock) can be accessed by 3 buttons method (Power + Volume Up + Volume Down).
@mfbcool i saw that thread early... Great work man... I know huawei have 2 inbuilt recoveries but 2nd one is erecovery and thats of no use at all... I tried it too many times!! If twrp 3.0 can flash update.app files,,, it gonna rocks , wish u best of luck man!! You did it

Same here. Just jump back into EDL mode and flash the full OTA. Download and unzip the folder to your desktop. I removed the META-INF File and flashed after the A2017U_** folder as the META caused me to fail a few times.

1. Booloader unlocking only affects to what you can flash in fastboot, it doesn't affect stock recovery funtionality.
I asked about factory reset option, because I wanted to make sure you aren't booting to "recovery2/eRecovery". (It doesn't have factory reset option)
2. Avoid using kingoroot and other oneclick root apps if it is possible.
3. Your firmware version doesn't matter.
4. Bootloader unlocking can't cause crash. Locked bootloader could cause crash if system is modified(I think), but you would still be able to get recovery.
One way to make sure you boot to normal recovery is to connect your phone to pc --> open command line --> type "adb reboot recovery". This won't take you to erecovery
I can't do any better help with the current information.
After you successfully flash the recovery with fastboot (always use the latest!) You need to do these things in order (and fast) in order to but to TWRP. If you don't it will boot to stock recovery and you have to fastboot flash again.
You must
a) write fastboot reboot in the console but don't pass Enter!!
b) hold VOLUME UP
c) (still holding VOL UP) presss Enter and remove the USB cable immediately once it says your device is booting now.
Keep holding VOL UP until you boot to TWRP. Allow modifications.
For root you will flash Magisk (you know, normal zip), which a) is open source, so no sneaky stuff and b) can hide root from apps as a bonus. You can always get the zip here: http://tiny.cc/latestmagisk
Important: If you have other root solutions install them for example SuperSU has an uninstall option. Then flash Magisk

The recovery you go from fastboot is eRecovery. You can't boot to stock or TWRP recovery directly from fastboot. If you choose shutdown from eRecovery then you can just go to TWRP with normal way (power + VOL UP). Going to eRecovery doesn't undo TWRP installation. (This also means you can do force update even with TWRP installed, I think, not 100% sure)

I just wanted to point out that you don't need to re-flash if you happen to only press vol up in fastboot.
