Hi all,
So I'm picking my HD2 up for my birthday next week and have already done a ton of homework (aka reading of the Leo forums here at xda) on the device but have a question...
I have a voipcheap.com account to make free/cheap international phonecalls from my computer. I assume it's viable to use SIP/this service on my HD2 (I've tried on old handsets with varying results, which seem to come down to the hardware being rubbish)
What's everyone using to make calls via their internet calling accounts, and have you successfully used the 'audio routing' tweak to route calls to the normal ear speaker?

I think the best way to go about SIP is using softwares like Fring or Nimbuz

VoIPcheap.com is just another phone service offered by Betamax. For a full list, see this page: http://backsla.sh/betamax
For all the Betamax brands, there's a great way of doing VoIP calls from a WinMo phone: go to http://www.lowcaller.com/en/index.php , choose your service (voipcheap.com in your case) and download the cab for your phone (yes, there IS a version for the HTC Leo). Once you download it, it will create an icon on the start menu. Select it, input your voipcheap id and password and your mobile number and UNCHECK the "auto lowcall" (or whatever it is called) option. Tap on "Save".
From this point on, you won't need the lowcaller icon anymore.
To make a call, go to your contact, tap on Menu=>See more information, then Menu => [scroll the menu down] and you will see the Lowcaller options.
I've been using lowcaller for a while now, and it works very well.

Fantastic - sounds like this would do the job!
1 week 'til I've got my HD2 and I'll post back here with my results.
Just reporting back to say that lowcall appears to do the job perfectly (just made the 1 call right now, in a dodgy 3g area!)
Many thanks to ccristal for the tip-off, more people need to know about this little cab for sure.
Now for another question (sorry!) - is there anything that exists which takes advantage of the SMS service in Betamax clients like Voipcheap.com? I use the text service occasionally to text internationally so it'd be great if I could access this on my phone.
Trust the xda-devs to be on the case!
Actually, you can send sms using lowcaller itself. If you select a contact from the WM contact list (not the Manila one) and you open the menu, you will find a menu item to send a sms to that contact using lowcaller.

It's important to point out, however, that the call is not a full VoIP call. When you use lowcaller, you actually call an access number in London, and it's only from that point on that the call is forwarded using VoIP. Here's how I think it works under the cover:
there are 3 numbers in the game here: your number, your contact's number and the lowcaller access number.
you select a contact in your list and call it using lowcaller;
a data connection is opened, and your own number and your contact's number are sent to the lowcaller server;
the lowcaller server associates the two numbers with an access number taken from a pool, and it returns the access number to the lowcaller client running on your phone;
the lowcaller client dials the access number;
the software running on the server identifies your number and the access number you are calling and retrieves your contact's target number from the mapping established at step 3, after which connects the call.
This has an interesting side effect: after the first call to a given contact, you can associate the access number that lowcaller actually called with the contact as if it were your contact's own number. From that point on, every time you dial the same access number, you will actually call your contact, without a data connection being opened at all, since the mapping between your number and the contact's number is already stored in the table for that access number.

No, you don't have to. If you don't, every time you call the same contact a new data connection will be opened, and a different access number may potentially be chosen. However, if you do associate it, you won't need to go to the WM contact page to get to the lowcaller menu, since the number will be visible from Manila and can even be saved as a shortcut.

Since yesterday my hero doesn't receive sms, only sends... Any one knows how to set again my operator's number (I'm under 3 Italia)?

don't call wait for somting to open after that press phone info or soming like that (the top 1 ) afther that scroll down there is a box if you put the number there it wil do and press save

Entering the sms centre number doesn't affect incoming sms does it? Have you spoke to your network provider?
Tried your sim card in another handset?

Thank's to both, but the solution was that you indicated. I had a new rom installed without normal messaging app, and that - I believe - wiped somewhere the center number. Even changing the sim, all continued the same. But reinstalling the center service number in that hidden menu resolved...
Well, when I go through the config setup for Google Voice, the com.android.phone quits.
So, I went into phone, and selected Call settings, then Voice Mail Service, and select Google. It Asks 'Change to new provider?'. After a few seconds, it responses with 'Forwarding Voice Number failed'.
I also tried entering my Google Voice number in Voice Mail Settings for My Carrier, but all that does is provide a number to call for voice mail. Of course, that did seem to forward to my Google Voice Mail number. At this point I'm not sure if there are any implications of setting it up this way.

I had the same experience. Google Voice works but the voicemail change didn't. So I opened the phone app and pressed the menu key and went to call settings. Then I went to voicemail carrier and Google Voice was an option. I selected the option and it asked if I wanted to change the provider and after I clicked yes it worked. So it just looks like the wizard failed for me but doing it manually seemed to work fine.

That didnt work for me, and in fact, the only thing that worked for me when i had the LG Nitro HD and the HTC One X, and now the GS3, the only thing that works is to open the phone app, hit the Menu > Call Settings > Call Forwarding > Voice call.
Keep Always Forward set to disabled, and set everything else to the google voice number, including the +1.. So if your google voice number is (123)456-7890, then each of the 3 lines would all say +11234567890

I spoke too soon. After I rebooted a few mins ago it looks like it went back to My Carrier and now I am getting the same problem you are.
I will try the dial method neverends suggested and see if that works....and it did work! Thanks

Haven't tried it yet, but I do expect that to work. I used that type of coding (as outlined in this Wiki page) in a Tasker script to forward my phone home automatically when hooked to my home WiFi.
I can't find what the *11* is for at the end of it. Do you know?

I typed in that code. Goto a positive mesage back.
So then I went into settings and tried to set up the voice mail again, and it is stil failing.
However, Upon checking the Voice Mail setings for Cal Forwarding, all thre of the phone numbers are set to my GV number.
That should be all... You don't need to go through gvoice setup again if you used the code

I finally got GV to be my voicemail again.
From the phone app, menu button>Call settings.
Scroll down and select Call forwarding.
Select Voice call.
Select Always forward.
Enter GV number, and then Enable.
Turn off: Select Disable.
Select Update.
Now the forward when busy, unanswered and unreachable will be turned on and the "always forward" will be off.
Then you just have to go back to Call Settings and change the voicemail number to your GV number. Voicemail>Voicemail Settings.
It will still say My Carrier in voicemail service and such, but it functions properly.
I posted this in the Google Voice thread in the General section, but I'll put it here too. This works, same as the others, but this actually gets the system to change everything to say Google Voice is handling your voicemail:

Yes, you have to do the call forwarding code again: *004*[Google Voice Number]#
Then in your dialer settings, select Google Voice as your voicemail service. It will give you an option box popup which asks you to hit cancel or OK. Just hit the home button to leave the menu. When you go back in, Google Voice is selected, your Google Voice # is your voicemail number, and everything is set up properly.

I had to go to google.com/voice and sign my compadre up for a new number, then it started working properly after following the number forwarding.

From another similar thread, the solution is as above mentioned with the numbers; basically log into google voice from your computer -- go to settings and then the part where it lists your mobile numbers added to your account. Click deactivate voicemail -- it'll give you a code to punch into your dialer on your phone. Then click activate -- and it will give you a code to punch in to change the call forwarding settings.
Hi, I'm using a G935T which is already unlocked, and I have no problem using it in Singapore with local network. However, the sms center number is incorrect and the phone prohibits me change it. I can find it in sms settings, but I cannot modify it.
The official doc simply says I cannot change it. (url not permitted for newbies and here's what they say):
To add or change the SMS service center number, follow these steps:
Note: We're sorry, but you cannot change the service center number. Follow the below steps to view the current number.
From any Home screen, tap Messages.
Tap the MORE icon.
Tap Settings.
Tap More settings.
Tap Text messages.
View the number under Message center.
Without that being properly set, I can only using calls and receive sms, but never send any.
I'm using the official firmware.

I have a snap dragon version scv33 from AU japan.
I now moved back to Australia.
It is in version 8.0.
When I want to make calls it asks me if i am calling to japan or roaming country.
If i select japan is puts +81 automatically and of course phone fails.
If i choose roaming country it just says enter area code i.e. +61
Issue is i have to change all contacts to be +61
If i do this then when i sms it fails.
So if i type persons number normally e.g. 0423 it can send sms.
When they reply it puts the reply under the separate conversation of +61 saved in contacts and replying in that conversation fails.
Is there a way i can flash the calling app with another countries app that does not have this assisted calling locked.
I have checked call settings in call menu but it`S hidden so i cannot disable it.
On my s9+ it has the roaming assistance option and it`s not hidden and I can turn on off.
