Hey XDA,
So I came from the Toro GNex and really enjoyed both Muzzy and Shiny's roms since they were both a very vanilla version of AOSP.
Does anyone know of any roms, specifically for Verizon, that are pretty close to vanilla AOSP? I would prefer stability over custom features that many devs have added to their versions of AOSP.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Since the G2 didn't come with an AOSP, people have mostly been using AOKP or CM to make their vanilla-ish ROMs. I haven't seen anything that's just plain AOSP.
Have you tried other ROMs?

I've been pretty swamped at work, so I haven't had a lot of time for crack flashing any AOSP roms. Currently I'm running debloated stock.
I didn't realize PA or CM were close to vanilla AOSP, do you recommend giving them a shot/are they stable at this point?

So I'm on CM11 using the nightly build from 1/31. You can try the latest nightly, but there' have been reported issues. I'm not familiar with them though. There's a lot of talk on the G+ CM community. I'd join that anyway.
Whatever you do, do a complete backup so you can just revert back if something isn't to your liking.

I'm on PA 4.0 Beta 6 and I really like it. There is a new 4.1 version out that I think is good, but it took out some of the customization (so it's probably worth trying both to see which you like). PA is vanilla I think...I've ran it for so long I don't have a reference point any more haha. I came from a Toro GNex on PA 3.99.

Also came from toro Gnex and used vanir there. Now I use PA.:good:
For the record, ParanoidAndroid is normally FAR from pure vanilla AOSP, it's only vanilla-ish now because the main features(hybrid engine, Hover(the Halo replacement), per-app dpi, etc.) are not finished yet. That being said, stability is never really an issue(all ROMs have issues at the moment, at least until the new 4.4 kernel sources can be implemented). I factory flashed my manta last weekend, and I forgot how bare pure AOSP really is. Most custom features add to the experience, and if you don't like them you can just turn them off. :good:
Still, the G2 is lacking a true AOSP ROM. Again, PA doesn't count because eventually it will re-add all the features in a few months time. There's nothing like Purity or RastaKat for the G2. I was contemplating learning how to port Purity over to the G2 earlier, seeing as how Purity has a hammerhead version. I just don't have the time at the moment.
Is there any vanilla clean no features pure AOSP Roms for the g2 Verizon? I am interested in one. If not is there anyone that can build a Rom. I'm willing to donate for a pure AOSP Rom.

Yes I came from a nexus device and just loved rastakat vanilla builds. Perfect the way I like it. I tried to port myself the hammerhead AOSP Rom but it get bootloop. Don't know how to fix.

Your most vanilla aosp rom is going to be Paranoid Android. It is quite vanilla.
Omni and paranoid android.

Does Viper4Audio work with PA? Its kind of a hit or miss with the AOSP ROMs, so far it only works with CM after flashing a few of them.

I believe it did a while ago. However the main dev is on hiatus and the sources have changed some with the new guy. But, it may still work. Make a backup and give it a try.
There is also this AOKP by Rohan:

Bored of use TW roms, I want to change another based rom, which rom do you suggest as AOSP, AOKP based? With little bugs?

Little bugs?
What about Slimrom? They don't appear to have any stable builds for your phone, but there's a weekly build on Kitkat 4.4.4 at the moment.
Slim-i9500-4.4.4.build.7.6-WEEKLY-6233
Might be worth checking out.
Other than that. I recommend checking out the I9500 section, and search for AOSP / Stable.

Back to stock. All AOSP,AOKP based roms are bull**** [emoji19]

The main thing for me is smoothness and snapiness.
Im asking a real g33ks who have tried alot of rom.
i'm not using XDA daily but i'v tried roms before & all i can say is that each rom is good in some areas , So go to Developer Section & try some yourself & see what's best for you.
I personally like Sultan's Rom for Battery & Smoothness
For me AICP is the best

Aospa...as you can see you have very different replies because choosing a rom is subjective, it depends a lot of the users preferences...

He asked for the smoothest ROM not the best one
AOSPA is my favorite too
AOSPA by far. It may have a few bugs, but in terms of smoothness it's the best one by far. Also for me it's the most stable.
Definitely AOSPA

But even the smoothest rom is subjective imo...for me the smoothest is really aospa. I have seen some users praising rom x or y for being the smoothest rom only to get a bit disappointed when I went to try them. Aospa is really awesome for me. It still lacks a few features but it's cool=p
With amazing kernels like boeffla and blu_spark any Rom can be smooth like butter.
AOSP caf roms are best in side of performance
they will perform better than CM based roms
But I prefer CM based roms because of battery life
I am using Sultan rom its one of the best in side of performance which based on CM and also have a great battery life
After tried various of custom ROM availables for our beloved OPX, I came to the conclusion: OOS + BluSpark kernel is the smoothest for me. I'm stopped flashing custom ROM and just stick with OOS + BluSpark
I gotta say hydrogen os is the fastest on my oneplus x with blue's kernel. However its not for everyone as its heavily themed

Sultan's CM13 or Krexus for me.
H2OS feels like the software made exclusively for the OnePlus X hardware. Tried Oxygen and CM and somehow it always felt like either on a ported ROM or a beta one.

for me AOSPA. smooth no fcs so far.
Im fade up with my oneplus x, it is full of bugs. So i decided to replace my oxygen os, can anyone tell me which is the most stable rom which I can use as daily driver.. Thanks in advance

My favs are Purity (I'm using it right now, and you can find it on g+) and Aospa (is in early stage for now).
Dirty unicorn no need tweak get 6+ hour sot
PA is nice and smooth. Everything is working fine and fast. Nearly 6 hours SOT on moderate use. Lasts for a day.
So Paranoid Android is back and I really feel a ROM like that is what this phone needs. It would be really great to see it ported to this phone and it would give us more options and the community a much needed boost. Is it possible to port it over and if so is anyone willing to attempt? I would try to do so myself but I don't even know where to start and unfortunately my computer just took a dump so I don't have anything to build on.
Most overrated ROM ever. Nothing better from other ROMs.

Completely irrelevant the shape this phone is in when it comes to modding is absolutely horrible, we could surely use another and more well known ROM such as paranoid, take your negativity elsewhere.

Really man. Nothing better other ROM. Most of customization options of PA are just for official builds like color palette.
I'd prefer MIUI or Flyme maybe... There are a bunch of roms that seem identical to me, like AICP, RR, NucleaROM, AOKP

^ This. I have scrapped the web for a single hope of MIUI or Flyme. Na-da. It's very sad. Those are some of the most beautiful-looking ROMs you can grace your phone with. Posted requests on MIUI and Flyme forums a while back. Nothing D:
It's sad, really. I know the devs are really doing their best with updates, and we appreciate it, but the slew of same-looking ROMs is fast becoming stale, imo.

Tbh I never used MIUI or Flyme even though I think there was a MIUI port on my previous phone, thea. But I hoped I would be able to try some day.
And the people that are trying to do stock-based ROMs just delete some stuff and add a couple of features, maybe change the UI a little bit... I'd love a stock based ROM with a different quick settings drawer and stock Android icons, plus NO ONE is doing any kernels for A2017G stock, literally NO ONE
Lol, let's hope a Dev will be kind enough.
I had Flyme on my One M8 last year. It wasn't a very good port, kernel-wise; battery consumption was over the roof, but the UI alone made me use it alongside S-Rom.
The stock rom provided is just plain bad and not a good base to work on.
The other choices are asop based or lineage based with add this feature or remove that feature, how much can you really change?
As for MIUI to iphoneish.
I think everyone should be glad that you even have choices. IMHO
If you really don't like what is available research on how to build your own.

Saw it too, I think it was from a Turkish dev. Unfortunately it was a nougat release.. Pls guys, more Gud ROMs
V11 is Nougat, v12 is (should be) Oreo. I used to use WesTD's Nougat build. If it wasn't for the video playback issue I'd probably still be on it.
Anyway, DU 12.1 is their current version I think.
