This is very strange...
Okay, it's the second Nexus 4 that I own (my other one works well, even has Nougat installed on it)
For some reason, it only works on Jellybean version 4.2.2, I've tried to update it to all of the factory updates and yet it gets stuck on a endless boot loop at the start. Very weird.
I've tried to wipe the cache: it does nothing.
I've also tried to Side-load a custom ROM: it still does not work.
I've tried to update it via 4.2.2: it still does not work
I've made a 3 hours research on the internet and yet I found nothing. It's very weird that it does this, and I'm probably the only one who has this problem.
The reason why I am working on making this phone work, despite having a working one with version 7, is because I wanted to gift it to my sister. Yet, I find Jellybean a bit too old for this phone, and would also be cool to have all the features that is include in either Lollipop or Marshmallow.
It would be awesome if someone who found a solution to this problem, to share it with us.

Thanks!
Have you tried flashing factory images? I think that must work

Fix
I just just fixed it!
I've realized that the screws where missing on the bottom, so I've opened the phone. I took the plastic shield off and realized that the Earphone Jack was not plugged. After plugging it back, I tried the update thinking it might be the solution and it is!
So basically what android does, it initializes the hardware while booting. It discovered that there is a component missing, so it got stuck on the initialization.
Thank you for trying to help c:
I still appreciate it!

Hello you all peeps
I noticed some weired things happening to my phone. Sometimes when I want to use my phone I need to put in my PIN, never realised what it was.
10 minutes ago I received a text message, i read it and ploooops, my phone was rebooting out of nothing. After that my phone is working again, but watch this:

There's just a part gone, I know it was there before the reboot. Now i realize that i already had this issue a few times before.
Does anybody know where this strange thing come from?
Oh, I am running Litening rom with CF kernel, not sure if i had this issue before flashing the rom.
I had exactly the same thing on KE7. My phone rebooted itself at least once a day. I tried uninstalling and disabling all the apps I could think of but nothing resolved it.
Eventually, I performed a factory reset which has resolved the issue - it's now been running for 3 days without a reboot.
I had a spontaneous reboot only once - phone was overheating due to well, me messing around :-D
Check if heat is not a problem du to a runaway process
The heat is not a issue since it rebooted too when i didn't use the phone.
I deleted some Samsung bloatware too, perhaps that is the problem. Will do a factory reset, but not for now.
Good(?) to hear I'm not the only one with this problem
Same problem here, but i think it's related with the known bug of "suspend" and events/0 process and there is nothing to do but waiting for a fix :/
So I rooted my Note 4(N910P) yesterday. I then flashed CWM. I get on my ROM to test root, then reboot into CWM to test and make sure it works fine. I go to click on the navigation buttons at the bottom and they do not respond. I figured "whatever, must be a bug or something" and I reboot back into the ROM. I go to use my phone and the touch is 'off'. If you look at the screenshot below, the touch test one, I marked white Xs where my finger is actually at on the screen. Look at the number for the dark grey one, it is over 1440. It seems that after rooting, my device now thinks I have a 1480x2560 screen(touch wise). I'm at a loss as to why. My S Pen works fine, though.
What I have done to try and fix this-
Tried a custom kernel as someone mention an issue with a kernel/driver that a custom kernel may fix.
Tried to go back to 'vanilla' aside from the tick on knox, of course.
Custom ROM at one point, even.
Tried removing and pulling the battery and MicroSD card.

Are you sure you flashed the correct file for your device?

It's been 48 crazy hours since I'm having this annoying issue, and after Google even my soul and read the same amount of words as 180 bibles... I give up and write down what's happening to my Note 4.
I have an international Note 4 (N910F), with stock Android 5.0.1 (N910FXXU1ANK4), which was working 100% normal until 2 days ago where - just for curiosity - I installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 to see how it runs on my phone. After 30 or 40 minutes I returned to stock using the same stock Android 5.0.1 which I have previously downloaded from Sammobile.
Before install I did a clean full wipe, root again, and put it just like I did 48 hours ago. The only difference is now wifi scans for connections, it sees wifi connections, but it wont connect. I've flashed the whole firmware countless times, did a full wipe with TWRP and stock recoveries like 15 times, format partitions countless times, forgot connections, put details from scratch again and it just put them as Saved, but it wont connect. I tried to make a totally open connection and nothing... so I'm really out of ideas here.

Thanks in advance.

PD: FYI I'm the only one in my wifi channel.
Hello everyone. Buy a unit with Haoling frimware 00009_V0001_20191128. To improve it a bit, install the YT9216B_00002_V004_2101012_HIFI_V3 frimware with SPFlashtool. The new frimware was working fine, but the drive seemed slower, so I decided to look for another lighter frimware without so many extras. My problem comes when when installing the new frimware I forgot to uncheck the Preload box and when I realized I got nervous and disconnected the cable, this caused the display of the unit to remain black and illuminated.
My first failure was not to backup the drive in its original state, and since then I have been testing frimwares without success, the most I have achieved is having a home screen with 3 boot options and an arrow moving in a loop, but at not having physical buttons I can not do anything.
I have had access to a unit equal to mine, to which I have been able to make a dump backup, but I am unable to load it, since the unit sounds as if it is constantly connecting and disconnecting and does not complete the loading of User.
The Test Point system does not seem to work for me, or that or something I am not doing well and I cannot find any video to see how it is done.
Ultimately, I don't know if my unit has a fix or if it will stay like a brick.
I hope you can help me, thanks

Hello. Has anyone happened to me? Is there no way to fix a failed Preload installation or to know what Frimware can I install to recover my drive?
Thank you
Disconnect the black connector from the radio for at least 30 min..next, it should boot directly to system..if it freezes at the Android logo, you have installed a incorrect firmware
Try this brand new guide
Hey fellas,
I've done some flashing on android before, but only on smartphones, instead of a car multimedia. My model is ZED AN817DK.
It looks like this:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

The launcher it came with is kinda disgusting, so I installed Nova Launcher instead.
Regardless, the system barely works, even on the stock settings / factory reset status.
Apps are crashing, changing the audio option in Waze takes a whole 2 minutes to even open up the menu for the option
(the app works but the input is unresponsive for 2 minutes until the menu appears).
I've tried contacting the shop I bought it in and they sent me a "firmware" update in the form of an APK file that will not launch in the device. I don't think I saw an option in it's administrator settings or anywhere else to update firmware via file (only check for firmware update - and it's always "up to date").
So I think I'll resort to flash a custom rom on this. I'm a bit worried since in the scenario where things go wrong I rely only on a pen hole style reset button which I don't fully trust to reset successfully if a custom rom is installed.
Is there a general flashing guide for these devices? How safe is it, as in what are the chances of completely bricking the device?
Are there general or common roms that work well on these devices?
