First, sorry if my english is bad, not my native language =)
So, i'm kind of a newbie in rooting stuff. I had a Galaxy S2 some times ago and I rooted it easily at the first try. Luck I guess
Two days ago, i've bought a Zenfone 2 Laser ZE550KL and yesterday, I tried to root it with Asus Zenfone method (i'm not allowed to post link for moment :/ )
Very very bad thing happened. The last command "fastboot oem reboot-recovery" (or other form of this command) failed in cmd program as "unknown command" and my phone was in a bootloop.
After 9 hours this night to try to recover it with differents system.img, I've finally restaured it, and it works ! (pheew ! :laugh::laugh: ). But I still want to root my device. Problem is : everywhere I check for advices, I see "root for ZE550ML". My device is nowhere :/
I don't want to do stupid sh** anymore, so I hope find some help here for root my ZE550KL =)

Ok begins, I want to know how to root Asus ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL) without brick.
(If possible I need to only root without use custom rom or CM,need to use original and zenUI or AsusApp with root permission,same like Asus Padfone S it root with towelroot just root.)

first step it need unlock bootloader ?

Hi guys, I have a Zenfone 2 laser ze550kl that was locked n initial setup screen, I tried the reinstall the rom Stock but no sucess, in the assistance gave the board as doomed, I happen to have relived the same with a custom but it is catching a lot, I'm looking for a solution to unlock bootloader without being by the Asus APK that in the installation in custom rom, does anyone have an idea how to solve?

Previously i managed to root my Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL (NRD90M.WW_Phone-14.10.1710.76-20171020) by following this guide. Successfully rooted my device with Magisk. Now it was D-Day plus 2 for searching TWRP recovery for my device. Sadly, I can't find anything on the web regarding on this. For TWRP to work need to have an unlocked bootloader. So i tried the official ASUS unlocked bootloader tool. Found that some said that its a fluke & doesn't work at all. But i found that my bootloader is unlocked using fastboot command to check the status (Refer attachment). Any Dev that can compile TWRP for Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL MT6737M? I'm willing to corporate for any files needed in the process. Thank You.

I am a novice at this type of thing but can follow and understand direction pretty well, i have used TWRP years ago on a nexus 5X and installed ROMS on it but it has been a long time.
My Brother in law has an Asus X008DC (ZenFone 3 Max ZC520TL according to the Asus site) and id like to get rid of all the asus bloatware crap thats on it.
Can i just root it ...(how /what is the easiest method ) and uninstall what isnt wanted or needed, or should it be reflashed with a stock ROM of any sort.
Ive discovered there seem to be several varients of this phone but i dont know how to identify that difference>

i have in my hands one zenfone laser 2 (asus z00ld) .
now i have rooted the phone with kingoroot, also i have installed root checker. all is ok.
after that i have unlocked the bootloader.
the last thing is that i have installed twrp recovery.
now i have the firmware 1.17......1531.
the problem is that do not works wifi.
i have also tried with other wifi manager, but nothing. when i try to switch on the wifi and i came back on the screen , the wifi go in automatic off!
so , now i'm looking for a new rom, with 2 sim detected!
so i want a dual sim phone, with out any bug.
i do not need the last android, or a rom with many app.
i want the more simply rom , but in italian, and dual sim.
after that i will install the app that i usually use.

Flash Latest ASUS stock firmware

If you want you can flash my debloat script that works with stock LP and MM ASUS stock rom

Or you can use a custom rom. Nougat is more stable but has proximity issues and Oreo/Pie roms have some performance and reboot/power off issues.
