Hey Guys,
Most of the Z2 owners noticed that since the 23.5.X.X.XXX updates (Android 6.0) the Wifi is working very bad.
My Z2 disconncets from the WLAN Router every 2 minutes and reconnects.
This is happening not because of the bad Wifi Signal( I'am only 2 Meters away from the Router).
It's because of the new bad reworked WLAN Drivers in Android Marshmallow Firmwares.
So i just took the WLAN Driver Files from the old Android 4.4 or 5.0 Firmware (thb i dont know even more), and replaced the new drivers with the old good ones :3 (THE FIX IS IN THE ATTACHMENT)
I did not think that this would work, but i tried it and im impressed, this is working for me !
The Wifi Signal is very stable, even if i go far away from the router the phone dont dissconnects! ^-^
If somebody has this Problem too, just flash this in the recovery and tell here if it worked for you :3
This must working for D6503 and D6502
Sorry for my bad Englisch q///q
I never had any kind of problem about WiFi in marshmallow updates. The only thing I really complain it's about battery life.

My Wi-Fi works well, too.
only issue with me is it never reconnect to wifi network if i move away from the area. has to reset the wifi router to get reconnect again.
as i remember it was same even in Lolipop

and why did u made .conf files as .txt in the zip ??? ( etc\wifi)
Wifi signal and strength is definitely worse than Lolipop and Kit Kat.
Good is if this mood work well.
Can someone confirm that?

Please reupload..thank you in anticipation!
Also:
Can you or someone around here please explain how to extract the baseband from the firmware /ftf..?
I'm trying to figure this out since days.
Mostly, for example in flashtool, when I selected a ftf, I don't see "baseband" on the right list?
I tried four different stock-roms now, but nowhere is 'Baseband' in flashtool visible..?

I experienced definitely different wifi-performance states with the Z2 D6503 on KitKat, Lollipop and Marshmallow.
The best wifi-performance has been till now on KK 4.4.4, Firmware 23.0.1.1A.0.167, with the baseband-version:
8974-AAAAANPZQ-00027-12
Marshmallow has been the worst of all, Lollipop something in between, and with the named Kitkat-Baseband / Version my Wifi
was able to find the most wifi-networks.
If someone can please explain how to extract only the baseband file, then I will see what I can do and will
share a ready-to-go flashable *.zip file here..
Thanks !
Greetz,
vamox
My wifi was working awfully, It dropped any wifi due to poor signal, now it works flawlessly
can anyone confirm if it works well

You need root or downgrade to LL fw.
When you get root quote me here.

So, somehow I got Marshmallow booting on my a5.
Right now enough works for me to attempt to daily-driver with it!
I'll share the alpha since I have some sort of network connectivity going.
I keep most of my stuff on public github anyway. use the cm-13.0 branch. not everything needed is up there but the basic device folder and vendor folders are. android_device_htc_a5 and android_vendor_htc. Anything done outside those folders in CM is just dodging build errors as they pop up.
It's still fun to see any Android 6.0 on this before the official HTC release.
I'm putting this in general so feel free to share opinions etc.
Bear in mind this development happens in my free time so progress may be sporadic.

At this very moment a usable build is uploading to my androidfilehost a5 rom folder.
Usable, at least, for the Virgin Mobile chl model.
Working LTE, MMS, SMS, call in and call out.
I think the location is working too but not completely sure.
I'll put up a proper ROM thread in the morning since it'll take a while to upload and the rules say I can't post it until it's actually available for download.
Regardless you can grab the first alpha release as soon as it gets up there.
Happy flashing.
Standard rules apply, clean flash strongly recommended, wipe system too or you may have gapps issues should you be using them.
Of course if it somehow fries your phone I'm not responsible.
Enjoy the first taste of Marshmallow on the a5 courtesy of all the hard work upstream at CM, and what patchwork I've hacked together for the latest greatest.
'Ware, WiFi won't turn on so skip it during setup, and messing with Bluetooth causes reboots.
And it's an alpha so it may scare your nice old granny.

Are you using a different camera? Dirty flash or clean? Which model a5? (chl, ul, etc?)
So they finally released it. Haven't seen it on my LTE model yet but read that the LTE versions usually a few days lagging behind. Anyone update yet? Should be the same as the K1 maybe with a few bug and security fixes like the Jan16 security patches.
https://shield.nvidia.com/support/shield-tablet/release-notes
Oh, forgot to ask devs and anyone else who is able to. Could we get a flashable zip to flash over current firmware?
Doh, someone posted this in the forums:
"This update is available to download today (1/29) for WiFi and International LTE models
The update for U.S. LTE model is going through carrier certification and will be made available in the coming weeks"
If it's not the same as what got posted for K1 today, I wouldn't install it. If it's the original MM avoid it. Just look at the list of fixes for the K1 if you want to know why.
Anyone can post the links to get full update.zip?
This is the slowest update download I've ever experienced in my life. Feel like every Shield is taking the OTA at the same time. Been downloading for two hours, now, and it's at 58%. And it isn't my internet... getting a reliable 90Mbps.
Mine downloaded for 2 hours and stalled

I don't see any such posts... only posts about people not being able to download it.
There is a person saying they couldn't turn wifi on after taking the K1 update, but he fixed it by wiping cache... and others posting after him don't seem to have noticed that he said he fixed it by wiping cache. But this thread is about the original, not the K1.
Edit: Jocavi has the K1, and there are K1 users with wifi issues. This has not been reported to affect the original Shield Tablet, yet.

Great job, mate. Working without any issue. In fact, this release feels smoother than the previous one. I would like to add that sometimes after updating all google apps they show a message saying that there's not internet and try again. All you have to do is remove the last line on your hosts file (/etc/hosts). This issue is not always happening but just in case.
Thanks again, man.

This ROM only can flash via recovery. Flashtool use for flash "FTF" files (not "zip") . You don't need unlock bootloader for flash this ROM.

What script did you use to de-bloated the ROM and can you give me the link? Thanks

The only physical change I can find is a VoWIFI option under "wireles and Networks". The performance seems a bit snappier but this could be due to reflashing it.
For the debloat script I found this one works well and easy to manage:

Thanks
Kernel version is still 3.18.22?

No the battery is diabolical. Cell standby drain 80%+ everyday and tried everything to stop it. Battery was fine before
Just became available for me. Seems like you guys have it for a while now, so more or less problems than before? (On F3111 running 33.2.A.3.81)
Any advice appreciated. Thx.

What problems? Been using it for 3 months now running smooth and great no battery issue. And no issue after update either just a security update of android. Waiting for 7 to drop soon :crying:

It's not work! I tried. When you install SuperSU, Bootloot forever
Trying to flash this to my phone but Flashtool isn't working. Loads the firmware but does nothing once I plug my phone in. Any ideas?
edit: unknown sources and USB debugging are both definitely ticked. Something about the flash script I assume but not sure how to fix it.
I've not received this update yet. I'm an xperia XA F3111 user in UK on Virgin Mobile (T-Mobile)
