Help needed guys :( - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Nexus 6P is stuck in boot loops. I got it back from one of the repair centers and same thing again. It worked for like 5 mins and looping at the Google screen. I can't get into Recovery. I used the Nexus Root Toolkit to do everything possible and nothing. It seems to send the files fine but it will not boot. It just loops no matter what I try to do. Even tried sending TWRP recovery and can't get into that either. Is there any method that can do a complete format and start fresh? what do I do? If I can't fix his I am probably sending back to one of the repair centers again and using my S4 for another 3 weeks. If there is any method to wipe this thing 100% and get a clean install across the board like a computer Hard drive would that even work?

What do you mean by "send the files fine"?
Can you get bootlader? If you can, you can try flashing Nougat IMG.

When I use anything on the Nexus Root Toolkit it goes though the process fine with no errors but it won't boot. Even if I try to send the stock recovery or TWRP it still can't boot into recovery. CMD says it went "ok" I tried so many processes of sending any OS to it and nothing. Loops on the Google screen. SO annoying.

Time to learn some fastboot dealings. In this General section, go to the sticky thread for rooting and returning back to stock.
Edit: here's the thread link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
Just please read and take your time, you will be able to fix your device if it's just a software issue.

How are you certain your recovery is gone? You might just be stuck in bootloop. Your best bet is to use toolkit to get you into recovery. Whether Twrp or CWM. From there youcan flash a new kernel and see if it fixes it or use it to restore a backup.
I had similar issue where it was stuck on boot screen. I ccouldn't enter recovery normally. Only way was hooking it up to a pc. Then using a toolkit to make the tablet go into recovery. Then from there, I could use recovery on tablet itself and restore a backup. From there I was good again. Problem solved for me.
Try one of the other toolkits, like Sambra one. Make sure drivers properly installed though.

It's an easy fix, just use wug's toolkit and flash the stock Nexus 7 image. It will be like brand new. I don't think you had a very major problem at all to begin with just a minor bootloop, but this far along I'd restore it to stock and start fresh.

Did I hardbrick my nexus?

New to the forum but regularly read it.
I think I may have hardbricked my nexus 7. I was originally trying to root the phone. However, I somehow got into a bootloop before I was able to install superSU (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2382051). Attempted to factory reset because the internal memory was always at 0. However, this always failed.
To fix that I consulted this: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380913). Same issue happened and it was unable to fix the problem. And I would be stuck in bootloops with the X logo. I did another attempt with this because it seemed to help others with my problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381438). However, after going through the steps and factory clearing the data I was stuck at the GOOGLE logo and never able to boot into the bootloader.
After I tried to hold the power and VOLup button i still get to the android with the red triangle screen HOWEVER i am unable to get any menu to reboot the device or clear data. After shutting the device down I am now unable to even get to the red android error screen.I am forever stuck at the GOOGLE screen or a blank one. When stuck at the google screen it is recognized as Nexus7 but when i try to reset to bootloader (black screen) its QHSUSB_DLOAD.
Obviously, i screwed up, is there any way to fix this or am I out 240 bucks?
Unfortunately its even harder because this nexus 7 isnt available outside the US.

I'm sorry to hear about your nexus 7. I hope we can get it working. Have you tried holding VOLdown and power button? It should get you into fastboot mode. If you can get that we should be able to do something. You may have to hold them down for quite a while so if nothing happens at first keep holding it for 20 seconds or so.
I think the reason you got the android with the red triangle is because there wasn't a custom recovery installed yet.
Let me know what happens and we can go from there.

OMG, finally got to the bootloader. I was beginning to freak out. I can access bootloader, at least its not hardbricked. Thank you. I am in your care for getting this fixed (im way in over my head). Thank you.
It definitely cannot go into recovery mode like you mentioned. I reinstaled TWRP recovery. I then tried to install the nexus 7 "nakasi" factory image, however, I am still in a GOOGLE screen boot loop and I had to reinstall the TWRP recovery afterwards. I still have the 0mb internal memory error. I cannot wipe data successfully either (says Failed when I try) So I am not sure where to go from here, feel like giving up on root and just go for the original factory state. Once again, thank you.

If you can get to your bootloader, and follow directions, then the above will work. Good luck!
It worked! I can finally use it again.
I am still peeved i couldnt root my phone. I have bootloader unlocked still apparently. I obviously am not the most skilled at this but maybe there is a less error prone way to root it? I want access to a few nice apps/features with root access.
The problem I had came with TWRP and getting boot loops (with 0 internal storage). Any tips or alternate methods to rooting?

Not sure if you are clear on this or not but the Nakasi image is for the old Nexus 7. The new Nexus 7 is named Flo and the official Google image will have that as part of the file name (Google still hasn't released a factory image for our device though. However, there are a few unofficial versions floating around on the forum).

Stuck at the Google screen during bootup.

Damnit. Something went wrong and I don't know how to get out of it.
I used Nexus Root Toolkit 2.0.7. Bootloader Unlock went just fine. Root went wrong (I think). It just sits there at the white Google logo. It never goes to the animated loading portion of boot up.
So, I stopped the process. Then went to select Flash Stock + Unroot to hopefully start over. It still stays at the white Google logo. Instructions say it could take up to 20 minutes, but I waited for about 30 and nothing happened.
So I entered Recovery. Formatted/Cleared all data and started fresh with the unlocked boot loader. I was able to flash TWRP and actually flash a custom ROM. It loaded, but the phone boot looped when I tried to flash a custom Kernel.
Fine. I went to restore a backup I made before flashing the Kernel and it boot looped. Restoring the backup did nothing and I couldn't load anything.
So I went back and formatted data again and cleared everything out.
Loaded up Nexus Root Toolkit again, tried to root and it just stays on the white Google logo. Tried Flash Stock + Unroot and it still sits at the Google logo.
WTF. I've been doing this for a long ass time now...how the **** did I botch this?
How do I start over fresh. My new phone is a mess thanks to me.

Same thing happen to me except I wasn't rooting, I was trying to Flash Stock + Unroot from MDB08L to MDB08M and it hung at Google screen turning it off it would turn back on again at that screen, I can go into bootloader but going into recovery just shows that android on his back with red triangle exclamation mark.

That's stock recovery. Follow this to enter: You should see an Android logo with a red exclamation mark on the screen. Press Volume Up and Power buttons together. You will be presented with a menu. My experience with other nexus devices is that the button pushes can be tricky. If you're unlocked, CMD prompt (from fastboot screen) <fastboot boot recovery> may work. I never tried it with stock recovery. From there, you could try factory reset.

I guess you tried NRT from the bootloop choice. Wugfresh posted on the N9 (Android Development) several hours ago. Post there, logs too if you have them. He may be available to help in the next day or so. I know 2.07 worked well on my N9.

As most people will say, don't use a toolkit learn to use ADB yourself in case of mishaps like this.
I got everything working but had to do some reading and trials and errors (4+ hours of Googling!), read the thread Heisenberg wrote for beginners it shows you all the basic things you need to do which I find much more reliable than tool kit since you basically have to read the steps and verify everything you do and not hand it over to a kit. This learning experience will be great for you as an entry into Android.
Good luck!
Hopefully a lesson has been learned here; don't use toolkits, they're nothing but trouble. And why use one anyway? Especially on a Nexus, these phones are ridiculously easy to work on. Everything you need to know is in my guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
Great guide, I couldn't link because less than 10 posts :good: I used step 7 @Heisenberg since Nexus Tool Kit somehow erased something when I asked it to flash stock rom of MDB08M (Choosing no wipe) good thing I can still go into bootloader mode and cmd prompt flash TWRP and step 7 totally helped there and I got it booted up. I also tried to root it with success using Mr.Robinson's M kernel using systemless SuperSU or something. I hope 2.56 SuperSU is stable and my phone doesn't explode or something when next stock android build comes out.
Hello everyone! I bring news from the TWRP developers from the #TWRP IRC channel! TWRP 3.0.2-1 has a fatal bug! If you backup and restore EFS it will brick you! Do not backup and restore EFS on 3.0.2-1! Use 3.0.2-0 instead! This has already been fixed in the newer builds!
If you have been bricked you NEED to Erase the EFS partitions and that will fix it immediately.
For the Nexus 6P go to TWRP. Then on PC Open Command Prompt with access to ADB ( Android Debug Bridge) and execute the following commands:
ADB shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc.0/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/modemst1 bs=16384
and
ADB Shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc.0/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/modemst2 bs=16384
This should fix it for ANY Nexus 6P users. Users on other phones with the same problem await instructions!
Google Splash stuck
So i did NOT use a toolkit to root/flash, and have been rooted for a couple months now without problems.
Tried to change the build.prop folder to try to get access to incompatible apps on Playstore (Pixel only), and the vendor and system build.prop came up different and the play store stopped opening all together. Thinking it would be easier, i went to my back up made in TWRP .02 NOT .01 and went through the recovery process, when it finished i hit system reboot and it got stuck on the white google splash screen, have tried waiting over an hour and no change.
still have access to twrp.
tried running the commands
ADB Shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc.0/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/modemst1 bs=16384
and
ADB Shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc.0/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/modemst2 bs=16384
first one did nothing that i saw
second spit out all the possible commands...
tried to factory reset but still cant get past the google splash screen.
Any advice on how to proceed?

Stuck in bootloop - doesn't reach boot animation, and can't access recovery.

Hi All!
I seem to be stuck in a bootloop on my 6P. I was running the latest Pure Nexus build, and I was having a bit of trouble with some apps, so I decided to reboot into TWRP and wipe the cache. After booting up again, everything seemed normal. The phone was running for a minute or so, and it just shut off. After that, it just keep rebooting. It's not a normal bootloop. I do not reach the animation, I only get to the screen where it says "google" and has the unlocked padlock symbol on the bottom. After that, it starts all over again with the "cannot check for corruption screen."
To be very clear: I can't boot anything at all, including recovery. I have tried flashing multiple versions of TWRP and multiple versions of the stock recovery.
Here is what I've tried so far:
I have flashed back to the latest 7.1.1 release both manually and using the flash all command
I used fastboot to erase the system, cache, boot, and userdata. I ran the commands normally and also with -w.
I've tried to flash an older version of android - 6.0, I think.
Nothing seems to work. I haven't made it to the boot animation once since it shut down.
I also left it on the charger all night just to be sure. The battery was at about 75% when it shut down.
Thanks!
RMA bro.

Glad your warranty worked for you. Pure Nexus seems to be a recurring factor in several threads. I've never used it myself. Over in this thread, an experienced user ran into a bootloop that would not clear with a fresh wipe and installation with flash-all.bat or even flashing partitions manually. Flash-all.bat finished with no errors but still looping. As a last resort he used Skipsoft's Toolkit to re-install stock and it worked. The toolkit script formats userdata and cache and this appears to be what solved the problem. Interestingly, he was able to reproduce the problem with PN. After installing it, he went into a bootloop again and the toolkit again got him back to stock. So, others that are stuck in a bootloop especially after running or updating PN should try formatting userdata and cache, or use the toolkit.

Unable to boot into system

Guys I've tried rooting the phone but after I flash everything, the phone refuses to boot into system.
I followed the guide here for flashing twrp and the files with it. After everything is done the phone just gets stuck on the main logo and boots into twrp again and again
I've flashed stock like twenty times and still whenever i try rooting, it won't boot into system.
What am I doing wrong?
Sounds like your missing a step

I've followed every step, been at this since 4 days now.still same problem.
Then instead of booting into stock I tried flashing alpha n7, but now it just locks me out saying Samsung pay services were removed without authorization. I'm locked on the screen can't do anything.
After checking for a fix, I've looked for the XML but there's none. TWRP can't mount data or some other [email protected]#$& error
