Xposed/Note 3 on Jasmine Rom/Snapchat login fail workaround - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As you all know if you have Jasmine Rom installed it comes preinstalled with xposed framework that can't be Uninstalled.
I have Note 3 SM-N900V but am unable to flash custom recovery due to my emmc not starting with 15. So Ihad to go about finding a different way of doing this. And this is the only way it has worked through many trial and errors and restarting phone from scratch. This is the only way that works that i have found. Anytime I have tried to I have bricked phone and it will not boot back up. tryed flashify , flashfire, flashing the uninstall zip and nothing would work For those of you having issues with this . Follow this workaround on how to get
Snapchat working again.
Go to es file explorer and navigate to
1. data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/ after opening xposedinstaller folder you will see a files folder take the whole files folder and move it to extsdcard or to pc.
2. Navigate to system/bin/app_process.xposed move app_process.xposed to same place you moved the file folder to.
3. Navigate to system/framework/ and move XposedBridge.jar to the same place as other files .
Restart phone and install snapchat and login.
Now you can move those files back to there original places. Then Restart phone again.

[Q] problems with Google apps

Hi,
I've been experiencing some slow downs on my xperia play, so I uninstalled the Google apps(as I red on some threads). but when I attempt to open android market I noticed an empty window flashing and than closing herself. I noticed that happendsthe same every time I try to open the gmail app. I tried to install the market and gmail app downloading the .apk from the internet, and every type of reset, but without any positive results. I thought that this is happening because the missing of some app that I uninstalled previously, but can't figure out what this could be.
Please help me, and sorry for the eventually bad English:-D
Did you delete google talk by any chance?
Sent from my Xperia Play using Tapatalk
well, I don't think so, but in case this could be the cause? I'm now attemping to re-install it
EDIT: Honestly, right now i'm feeling a little noob. when i try to install the google talk .apk it says "application not insalled". How do i install it??
I've tried this: Step 1:
Download, Extract, and Transfer the contents of this zipped folder to your phone. You can simply do this by plugging your phone in via usb, and dropping the rootexplorer.apk into your download folder.
dl.dropbox.com/u/1239859/Root%20Explorer
Then, go into file manager, Tap the SD Card Tab, go to download folder, and install the root explorer.apk
Step 2:
Download, Extract, and Transfer the contents of this zipped folder to the same download folder.
dl.dropbox.com/u/1239859/Talk%20App%20and%20Services
Step 3:
Go into root explorer, navigate to your SD card, then to the download folder where you will find the following files
1 gtalkservice.apk
2 talk.apk
3 talkprovider.apk
These are the 3 you just transferred over.
Step 4:
Long press on one of those, and click copy or move. Once you click copy, you will see your next option on screen is to paste. Click back 2 times, and scroll to the bottom and you will see system, click system, then click apps. Paste that into apps. Then go back to the download folder again inside your sd card, and do the same for the remaining two files. Once all 3 are moved or copied into the /system/app folder, reboot your phone, and try to download something, if you get the force close error still, then do a hard reset.

I deleted my samsungcamera2.odex . Does anyone have a copy or any ideas?

Hey guys,
I tried out the Note 3 Camera (I found it buggy and crashed, couldn't even use the front facing camera). I went to delete it and rename the stock camera app to samsungcamera2.apk but of coarse it's not showing up in the launcher or working because I deleted the corresponding ODEX file.
I made a CWM nandroid backup which I've got on my computer and phone but nothing I've tried has been successful in recovering the ODEX file. I tried with my paid Titanium Backup and the camera was in the list but when I went to restore it, it's disappeared.
I have an i9506 (international). I've tried unyaffs-x86-win but it won't work, I suspect because of the EXT4 file system. I've also tried some undeleting programs and nandroid browsers on the device (one keeps asking for busybox which is installed and the other just sit there forever).
If there's no way or I can't find it online I'll have to restore the backup in CWM (it took me so long to set everything up nicely too )
Any ideas or advice welcome
I figured it out, here's what I did for reference:
system.ext4.tar.a in Windows
Rename to have .tar extension and open with 7zip. It had an error but opened anyway and I pulled the files from there and copied to /system/app.
Job done! :good:
where can i download stock camera? thank you

Stock Gallery not installing

Hi. I accidentally deleted my stock gallery app so I re-downloaded it (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449815) to try to install it again. Apparently I can't just re-install it because it's a system app so it keeps telling me that it's not installed. I tried a file manager to move the apk file into the system/app folder and changed the permission to rw--r--r--. I restart after that and now I can find the gallery app installed on my phone, but it crashes right away every time I try to open it ("Gallery has stopped working"). It also doesn't work whenever I go into camera and tap on the photo browser box because it also says gallery stopped working.
I'm on Kitkat right now with root access and I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Please help!

First, are you on NC2 leak or NC4 OTA? I'm not sure if it matters with a gallery apk but you never know.
If you're on NC2 leak go to Beans thread here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52088473&postcount=1
If you're on NC4 go here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53508270&postcount=1
1) Next, I'd download the rom for whatever you're on NC2 or NC4.
2) Extract rom zip with 7zip or Winrar or whatever your zip extraction program is.
3) Look for the secgallery.apk and pull the apk from the folder and transfer to your phone on your sd card.
4) Once on your sd card use your file explorer with root access. I prefer Root Explorer, if you don't have it it's worth buying to me.
5) Push the secgallery apk to system/priv-app and set permissions to rw-r--r--, then reboot and see if that helps.
6) If you still have problems try going to settings>application manager>all>then look for gallery and clear cache and see if that works
I don't know if you should use the apk you got from that link you posted as I don't know if it's been altered or not. It might be as easy as you putting that secgallery apk you have already in system/priv-app instead of system/app but let's be on the safe side. That's why I said download Beans stock rooted roms.
Hopefully this works for you.
EDIT: After going through both roms I have on my pc it appears the gallery is the same so I pulled it and uploaded here for you : http://d-h.st/9TK Let me know once you have it so I can take it down.

Oh my goodness, you're a life safer! It finally worked after spending many hours trying to figure out what was wrong. I guess it's because I use the wrong apk and also because I put it in the wrong folder in the system root. After I downloaded the apk you provided, I moved the file to system/priv-app and changed the permission. After rebooting, gallery is now working perfectly fine again instead of crashing.
Thank you so much for your help! I really couldn't have figured this out on my own without your information!

Can't see TWRP Backups in TWRP Folder

Now i know this is a common-ish issue with some variants as to the actual problem, i should know i've been trying to fix this for the last 48 hours but have eventually had to ask.
I made a TWRP Backup that when I look in the TWRP File Browser i know is stored in /sdcard/TWRP which i think is the same as storage/emulated/0/TWRP which is where i see an empty TWRP folder in both ES File Explorer, File Manager HD and Root Explorer. I've searched and this is the only TWRP folder on the device that is found and i've turned on 'Root Explorer' yet the folder is always empty, in fact ES File Explorer see's it but actually won't let me go into it like the other 2.
I've seen various things about such as Terminal Emulator commands but i can't get this to work, i just want to be able to move the backup to my PC and be done with it (until i have to worry about putting it back)
Can anyone help with how i can get this to work?
Actually finally just solved this. It seems if you connect the phone to your computer while in TWRP, i can see the contents of the TWRP folder. I'm pretty sure i tried this earlier, so maybe all the messing around i've tried since also contributed, but its solved finally.
If You can see TWRP through ES Explorer then Follow Given Steps :-
1. Open ES Explorer and Click on the three lines ( Left side on the top )
2. Now Click on Tools ( it opens many Option )
3. Now You can See Root Explorer Option in it , On it.
4. Now You can copy paste it.

obb folder showing as a file, can't write / change permissions

Hi all,
I can't seem to get my obb folder to behave. After installing anything which makes a file inside it, the folder changes to a file inside any file manager including with root access.
In twrp it shows as a normal folder and can be deleted or edited, but once back in android, it reverts to this weird uneditable file...
Any clues? I can't (or rather won't) format internal storage as I don't have a micro SD and currently have lots of files in my root folder which I need in case of emergency (i.e. my twrp backups and some downloaded . zip files).
Any help would be appreciated! It's not an emergency I'm just trying to get a game working. Oh also, if it helps, when I try to download the game after folder has gone weird, play store gets to 99% then fails with error 0 every time.

You simply need to delete the obb folder from TWRP file manager.
If no success, connect your phone to pc and delete ithe folder from there. (or use some force delete software for your platform)

Hi,
I'm also facing same issue, did you find any solution ?
Please help me too..
Don't know if this means anything but if I go into file manager after a reboot it's fine for a minute or two then goes back to being weird. Can't put my finger on what causes it. I've uninstalled magisk, clean flashed my ROM, only thing left to do is format internal storage but can't do that until I get an SD card for my ROM files and backups to go on.

I also had the same issue with pixel experience rom. My Suggestion is to install a nougat based custom rom until someone finds a solution for that.

Thanks but that's not really a solution I want when it worked fine on previous builds.
Wow... You'll never guess...the issue is present in nougat ROMs too...
*facepalm*
i also faced the above problem in almost every oreo rom. But in the below rom it is normal.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/rom-cosmic-os-v3-1-universe-t3730547. i am using this rom as daily driver.
Hi All,
I deleted obb folder from going into root >> data >> media >> obb
Choose file manager like es file explorer or Aroma file manager.
But this is temporary solution not permanent after some time same issue will occur again.
Kindly follow this thread to solve obb data lost on Oreo custom Rom.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/guide-how-to-solve-obb-data-lost-t3744711
Thank you so much!! I don't have an SD card at the moment, however, but happy to know a solution. Does anyone know the cause??
Is there a solution for this without SD card??
EDIT: I've noticed something. The issue described in this thread seems only to happen after connecting to WiFi and downloading apps from the play store. It doesn't seem to happen before I will do that. Hope it helps.

My theory says obb folder turns into file cause system link from data/media/obb should be revoked but I'm not smart enough to know how to create system links
I noticed that when I install the pubg mobile game manually I do not lose the obb folder, just like the friend mentioned above only occurs when the game is installed directly from the play store
For those who don't have rooted devices use this method until we get a fix
