Found this and I'm getting a large update (364 MB) as we speak. Not sure if this is it, but even the fact that they plan to go to Nougat is impressive to me to do it so fast and on such a reasonably-priced phone.
EDIT: It wasn't 7 - just the August security update, I think : |
364 MB is Too small for Nougat.
It's a good phone. Not surprised one bit that it's getting 7.0 Nougat. stylo 2 plus just came out this year

That announcement was only for TMOUS - there are some unique features to a T-Mo ROM such as WiFi calling, so Boost would be a completely different story.
Manufacturer Development means lg is evaluating and creating the update when is ready is released and always is 800 mg to 1.4 gb
Software Version: Android 7.0 "Nougat"
T-Mobile and the device manufacturer have agreed to support a new software update.

LG G3 D855 model is the international model that is under LG's update priority guarantee, meaning any update that is available to korean LG G3s will be available to D855 within the coming weeks. From my experience of being a long time LG user, the coming weeks are usually 3 weeks after the initial major android update.
Unfortunately no official update on the "oversharpening bug". Will never come..
Between CM12 going official for G3 and LG releasing this, there should be some super stable Lollipop roms soon
how you root your phone on lollipop D:, i can't install ota on my f460k, no update on LG PC Suit.

Thanks for the update! I just received the update, thanks again~ Let me explain the LG Update priority. LG starts seeding update starting with their flagship device, in this case LG G3 F460 and then moves to D855 model, then F400, then D850 and so on. If you are under LG update priority, which means your device is under the 24-27 months software support, you will receive the update in order from greatest flagship to least flagship. So let's say LG G4 is D900, then the order will go from D900 to F460 to D855.etc.

Hi guys,
I know that nougat just knocked on our doors in the last 2 weeks, but I really want to be running on the latest and greatest android, so I sent an email to LG to see if there are any intentions updating the our G5.
This is what they replied, do u think we will get to taste nougat 7.1 ??
its just too soon to ask them... but im almost 100% sure we will get it.

Well, technically we are already "tasting" Nougat as 7.0 is Nougat... But semantics aside, if LG's track record is anything to go by(and it usually is) then no we will not ever get official 7.1.1 support on stock LG, but I can't imagine we will be missing out on much...

Sorry I meant to say taste nougat 7.1,
Samsung and sony are planning bring 7.1, Im sure htc will bring it too, so why LG wont,
Besides that, if The G5 will get 7.1 it will be updated with the G6's ui, and that's very important
LG G4 never received .X version of Marshmallow.
LG will
probably skip Android 7.1 and our next major update will be Android "O" and then will probably top out at that

That is mainly the result of lacking any 6.X Marshmallow releases of android...
Of course it will get 7.1. But I also hope it will get Andromeda.

There is a difference between 6.0.X and 6.X.
nope, 6.X contains 6.0.X in it. That's logic bro Focus on more important thing. For LG it is important to "be first" A6, A7 and then it doesn't care.
EHm, I dont know which LG G4 you've had, but for G4 there is no official 6.0.1. Every updates had and have 6.0 in software description.

I beg to differ between minor version number and revision number. Also I am not really aware of any 6.1 android, but that may be because of the lag of a API level increment.
There was no 6.1

You're lying! Actually i also facing bootloop issue and after it got recovered, guess what? I have official MM 6.5 ! Duhh~
Android 6.1 never existed, and if you mean it is 6.0.1, the 6.0.1 doesn't even available on G4, we only got earlier MM that is 6.0 unless you're using CM13.1 then that is another story..
See my signature, i'm using LG G4 right now.. TQ
ON Topic, i think it is 50-50 chance for us the G5 and G4 user to get 7.1 . From my past experiences with LG, back to G3 days.. We don't even get Android 4.4.4 or 5.0.2 or 5.1.1 but we only got 4.4.2, 5.0 and 6.0..
Back to G2, G2 was released with 4.2.2 and being straightaway updated to 4.4.2 and finally 5.0.2.. No Android 4.3 or 4.4.4 or even 5.1.1! Why my old Xperia Z got 5.1.1 but my G2 won't?
The conclusion is i can say, screw all this minor update.. LG doesn't even give a f**k about it..
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
It wont matter to me, unless i start to see LG sort out the 7.0 update and actually do something productive i will just buy a new handset when the next cycle start to release.
I really liked my G5 to begin with its not been a bad phone, physically its held up well, im getting pissed off with the fact V20 came alone and it feels like all development stopped with the G5. Worse still i cant even get V20 in my country lol.
Hi!
This is my first post, I own a Moto G5 plus 64GB Storage and 4GB RAM, model XT1687 . I bought my phone at Amazon and I have recently upload to NPNS25.137-35-5 Firmware update, my question is : is this the most update the framework ?
Thanks for all , this is a great community
I believe there was a - 67 variant available in some areas which only includes minor bug fixes and security patches. But no major updates or nougat 7.1
The only information that I've found about this update is on the Motorola (Lenovo) forums at:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-G...5-OTA-update-just-received-in-US/td-p/3730072
(last 2 messages are most informative)
I'm not sure that it's really worth the effort (yes, my G5 is rooted) to take this update. I just froze Motorola Update Services so that I wouldn't get nagged about the update every hour.
Hello Everybody
I was quite happy in LG's security updates and was hoping to receive the Oreo update soon.
As Google itself has promised that most flagship phones including LG would receive the update before end of this year.
But i learnt recently that LG is among the very few phone manufacturers who issues major update first to carrier locked device and update the unlocked devices in its own time.
I have always heard about the other way around with other phone manufacturers.
If that is true, then i would start hating my LG G6.
Oreo?? on lg device monthly security update=SCIFI..
I am still on July security patch and have unlocked DS model. They suck even in providing security patches.
If you want to have fast security updates : LineageOS is your best choice.

Samsung, OnePlus and Nokia are already released beta builds, but LG is maintaining silence so far.

Does anyone know how was LG dealing with LG g5 updates? How much time did they spend before updating it to latest Android release?? Cheers!

I was looking at the LG G6 unlocked (us997) back when B&H was selling it at a good price. Was considering going with LineageOS but just couldn't get beyond knowing which security patches were really implemented in LineageOS port on this device.
The general issue of security patches on LineageOS was talked about here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/6g9imm/the_issue_of_security_in_lineageos/.
For the LG G6 in particular the LineageOS CVE database shows:
https://cve.lineageos.org/android_kernel_lge_msm8996
not a single CVE has been patched. The likely answer is that some number have been patched, but the database hasn't been updated. Even so, unless you can crawl through the code, how can you have any confidence knowing which vulnerabilities have been patch.
I got a software update today from LG. Anybody know what is in this update? Software version is US99717a. Android version is still 7.0, so it is obviously not Oreo.
